what's the small hole at the bottom? - HTC Excalibur

At the bottom of Dash there's a small hole next to the mini-usb. What is that for?

maybe the microfon??

Could be used for headphones

Its for attaching a lanyard. If you open the battery cover you can see the "loop".

For allowing the phone to breath properly...

It's what Mikey said. It's for a special set of headphones. I think it's for a headset with Microphone.

I have a lanyard attached to mine, the problem is that the phone is too large and heavy for a neck lanyard for any decent amount of time.

Holly crap! I´ve been trying 6 months to attach a parabolic antenna to that hole... LOL!
I agree that the phone is pretty heavy for a lanyard, I used one once and the result was a hurting neck.

I have a retractable belt lanyard that works well. But you need cargo pants for something like the dash to fit in without getting squeezed.

Dock Station

I really want to get a dock station so I can use the Desk Home and maybe watch some movies at work.
Does anyone know where to get one?
samsung accessory page - but they're not available yet

Nah, screw the Home Dock, who needs features like

When you're done using it to prop up your phone at work,
you can use it to clean all the **** outta your desk when your boss catches you.
How would you dock a phone that has its power connector on the top... LOL
It slides in sideways. Hence the desk app.
Make a paperclip stand!
I made one of these and it works great for my Vibrant. I have it on my desk at the office and plug the usb into my computer. I've been watching videos during lunch using this thing with no problems.
Can't beat that for $0.01. I did have to make three before I got it just right, so maybe the cost is more like $0.03.
Look at my paperclip stand. Its perfect, I just have to be carefull don't scratch it with the edges.
Ignore this. I dont know how delete a post
I made 3 or 4 of the paper clip ones and just never felt that it was that sturdy. Oh well. Off to the supply room to rumage for supplies.

idea: Battery door with built in kick stand

I'm surprised that our 4" SAMOLED phone doesn't have this option.... or a case with a kickstand. I'd love one for the sheer fact that I can view media and have it as a clock by my bedside.
Maybe we can suggest it to samsung? anyone know how?

You stole that idea from my mind! I would rather see two small feet at one side of the case then the large feet.

Hey guys check the link on my signature.
This is a stand that will fit any phone, with the case or without it.
It has multiple viewing angles, and you can rotate it to set the phone on any of its four sides.
You avoid blocking any ports with the rotation.
It is removable or you can keep it on the phone. It is also very small that u can bring it with you anywhere.

You could always find a really small hinge, a spare battery door and a straight thin piece of metal with teeth/notches that lock it in place when it's open or closed and make a prototype. And then sell it to Samsung

I think that it is a great idea, but I am hesitant to think that Samsung would use it for the Captivate. They may use it for the newer phones though.
if this happens i expect to see another patent war between HTC and Samsung.

I too have been trying to make one, although I'm trying to make one of slightly higher quality. To me the method you have chosen sort of makes it a more attractive option to just have it be laying on the table. I have been experimenting with several prototype concepts of mine and I will consider sharing if any of them work. My biggest limitation obviously is the lack of a 3d printer, so I have to make it out of sculpt-able materials.
Sweet, please keep us updated.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I just made one over the weekend. I made it out of wood and scrap aluminum that I had laying around. I don't have pictures right now but I will post them if anyone is interested. It is more of a bedside clock radio adaptation for the phone than a desktop dock.
Some"features" and what I did;
1. Small wood box (9"wide X 5" deep X 5" tall).
2. Phone slides/docks into aluminum plate on front.
2a. USB plug goes to wall charger.
2b. Headphone jack goes to amplifier inside dock
3. Internal amp has control nob under the phone for Volume, Bass and Treble.
4. Each side of the dock box has 3" speaker powered by the internal amp.
The first build is black with brushed aluminum plates. By the dimensions listed above you can see the size is slightly large. That is intended to provide good acoustics for the chosen speakers and amplifier. I have not solid mounted the plugs yet as I do not like my fist dock plate design and will be changing it. After the dock plate is finished I will hard mount the plugs for smooth single action docking.
If anyone is interested in seeing this monstrosity I can post up some pics. I am happy with the design but need to finalize it. I think it;s nice considering it was done with scraps around the house.
I made a simple one out of an expired AAA card...
My AAA card expires in 4 weeks. Now I know what to do with it.
Crap this means I have to get an AAA card now...
Very cool, and it is portable.

Ok, here are some shots. Still need to make a new dock plate and I need to epoxy the plugs in place. After the plugs are locked down I will make a small cover for them. The cables you see in the back are USB, AMP Power, and a small jumper for a connection i did not have room for inside.
The speakers are 3" full range with 2.5" drivers and covered with pc fan grills. From left to right the knobs control Volume(power on/off), Bass, and Treble. The use of 1/2" particle board and large air space allows it to give a nice thumb on the lower freq.
The purpose of this is for bedroom clock radio/alarm clock. It is a bit to large and redundant for most computer desks.
Very Nice!!!! You should sell these.

Some others suggested that, too. Would be cool because it can be universal to several model phones. The parts were from junk in my garage and computer room so I am sure it would be hard to replicate. Could be much smaller with the right parts but not sure what kind of cost it would entail. I figured some others on here could give some ideas for the next version and possibly get some inspiration from this one.

One-handed portrait-mode case

I use my Galaxy Note 10.1 very often in portrait mode, and I'm looking for a decent cover which would allow me to hold it that way with one hand without too much strain or effort. So far I've found one case (MoKo-Slim-Fit-Folio on Amazon:B0088I9AX4), but it's received mixed reviews.

I had looked at the Moko. My problem is that it seemed that the strap looked a little flimsy. What are your thoughts?
Ideally, I'm imagining something that my hand fits snuggly into....
The hand strap is actually very sturdy. It remains tight (not all stretched out) after using it daily for over a month.
I think it is a quality product. If you want pictures or anything just let me know.

That's awesome of you! One of the pictures on Amazon says "Elastic band to hold the cover open". So does that mean that you can actually keep it from opening when you're holding it in portrait mode, or will it still "flip open" if you happen to move your wrist the wrong way? (Hope that makes sense!) If you wouldn't mind posting some photos (or even a little video?), that would be great, but not absolutely necessary!
And just to be sure you have the Amazon ASIN B0088I9AX4 is that right (w/ easy access tot he S-Pen)?

One more question: I'm also seeing this case http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Samsung-Galaxy-Tablet-Black/dp/B007SA0Q1S/ which I thought was the same as yours - I don't think it is, right? Bike mounts?

Good day all. So, I have been browsing bike mounts and wondered if anyone had suggestions on what would work great for the 7 Pro. Armor-x and Quad Lock were the two I saw. Quad Lock has a great reputation but only a universal mount. Anyone familiar with them? If anyone has other suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

I had the quadlock for my Note 9 and loved it. I looked into getting the universal adapter but it seems to be picky with what kind of material the case is made of. I instead went to a top tube bag/phone holder just to keep my phone out of my pocket and backpack. Let me know what route you end up going.

Will your phone lie flat on a table with the armor-x case? The quadlock case looks like its bulging at the attachment part, so it seems like the phone will be raised up in the centre, and if you tap the left side of the screen, I would assume the phone would be wiggling.
I like to have my phone lie flat on a table when I'm using it (too big to hold all the time, lol), so if the phone is wiggling while using it, thats a no for me then.

any update on this? It's been hard for me to find a phone holder for the bike because of the size of the OP7P
https://www.amazon.de/Handyhalterun...nfahrräder-Mountainbike-Schwarz/dp/B071XZHK27
This one holds really well. It will cover up some of the edges though. I don't remember if I already tried the OnePlus 7 pro on it but the OnePlus 5 easily fit it and as the OnePlus 7 pro is merely bigger im pretty sure it will fit.
This model is sold by many different brands but it's really strong and survived all my Mountainbike trips.
Hi all! Do any of you have any more up-to-date ideas about bike mounts? I'm searching for a bike mount that be flexible with rotation and allow me to also take videos with the OP7Pro.
Not sure why, but the results are not that much on Google search and it seems that these guys pay Google a lot to be on top:
https://www.armor-x.com/bx3-pl-7p-oneplus-7-pro-shockproof-rugged-case-w-key-mount-carabiner.html
If the mount case is waterproof, that would be awesome, but I'm not sure if there's such a case that can be combined with the ability to allow video capturing.
I have on my motorcycles, the techmount and the rammount. Both work well.
I use rokform...
That's the best kind of bike holder: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32610266632.html - it's safe, waterproof and it also includes room for power bank.
