Hi guys,
I need to get a bigger microsd card, but i would very much like to buy (and use) the new sandisk 4gb micro SDHC. I read in another thread that it might work after WM6 upgrade...
i've also read this press release stating that new drivers are available also for the omap850...
Can someone confirm wether or not a 4gb micro SDHC works after the WM6 upgrade?
thanks!
no, wont work. there is different sd-reader HW. You are asking questions like if i can play DVDs on my CDplayer after firmware upgrade. NO IT WONT.

I don't think you've read the pages i linked to. The first is a thread here on xda-dev. where someone tells us that the upgrade to WM6 brought sdhc to the trinity... so that would tell us it is not a hardware thing.
the second link tells us about a softwarestack to bring sdhc to (among others) Omap850 ... so that's why i would like to know if someone that has actual hands on experience with the combination WM6 & sdhc cards could tell us if it works, instead of someone just bloating without looking.

Regarding Trinity: The Software upgrade also brought GPS to Trinity. So GPS is only a software thing??
I guess Trinity has already SDHC compatible HW chip inside, just the SDHC drivers were missing.
2esackbauer
Well, and why do you think Artemis has no SDHC compatible chip inside? Are you an insider? Recall please,
HTC has not ever declared the fact that Trinity has got SDHC compatible chip inside, either. Moreover, Trinity can not work yet with SDHC cards running officially issued ROMs installed.
as far as i understand, they are speaking about drivers for CPU beccause as i know OMAP, Marvele.... are CPU's. So it means that those drivers will be able to communicate with CPUs mentioned in that article and SDHC hw. Still we are on the same point, if U have cd player it wont read DVDs. Other thing is if Trinity has SDHC hw. but i dont believe so. It will be unreasonable expensive for htc to built it. You can argue that Ericcsson T10 and T18 were the same except for active flip and vibrations, but the reasson then, was in amount t10 and t18 sold(or expected) and price of changing or making another line. I could believe it in case that htc already presented Arte lookalike with SDHC supp. but in this case i simply dont. BTW as i remember, Trinity was presented in betas with GPS, and when it was launched it was widely known that it has GPS chip+antena, but they launch it without drivers because there were some troubles with comm between drivers and chip and OS, and it will be too expensive to delay launch of trinity even if it was w/o GPS
esackbauer: in this case was GPS only SW prob. (btw i like beer too)
nemo8: do you think that if you can enable SDHC only by new drivers, here will be numbers of those drivers in beta versions for downld? With 10-50%functionality? For ex. at least using those drvrs u would be able to read directory tree? i believe that yes.
HTC has not ever declared the fact that Trinity has got SDHC compatible chip inside, either. - i dont have trinity but can U give me link where u found out that it has SDHC hw? DOes it have SDHC supp on cooked ROMS?
From wikipedia:
A new SD format, SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity), allows capacities in excess of 2GB (4GB to 32GB)[10]. SDHC uses the FAT32 file system which supports the higher capacity instead of FAT16[11]. It uses the same form factor as SD, but the SD 2.0 standard in SDHC uses a different memory addressing method (sector addressing vs byte addressing[12]). SDHC cards only work in SDHC compatible devices, but standard SD cards work in both SD and SDHC devices. The SDHC trademark is licensed to ensure compatibility.[13]

All changes are in logical access. According to this, driver change could allow to use SDHC card in devices.
DOes it have SDHC supp on cooked ROMS?[/QUOTE]
Yes, it does have SDHC support on WM6 ROMs cooked by two talented ROM-creators, whoose nick-names are mun and lvsw. I have seen it with my own eyes(it worked successfully with 4G miniSDHC). And therefore I hope p3300 also would be able to support this card format running WM6 OS. The new driver might have been included into officially issued WM6 ROM. We just need someone to check that.

Marvellous! In that case I would have to try it out on my XDA Orbit then. Just waiting for the 4GB SDHC to arrive. FIngers crossed.
OK then i appologise, it will be perfect to have sdhc supp on artemis (if u check size of W-Euro map for tomtom - some 850mb) it will be marvelous. I never heard of making sd devices working with sdhc, but if you've seen trinity working with SDHC i simply believu You. btw i think trinit was released before arte(month or two) so there is a chance to have same sd hw. Sorry again, that i didnt believe it.

thanks for giving it a try though!
Has anyone tried the official HTC ROM and tried using the 4GB MicroSDHC card?
i ve got the XDA orbit with the HTC WM6 ROM installed and the 4 gig SDHC CARD DOESNT WORK
;(
That friggin sucks!
Just find this driver : SDIO Hx version 1.1
Compatible omap850 on wm5 and wm6

Thx for info geezer78
Hey guys, I ordered a 4gb microsd HC or w\e and it works with schaps wm6 perfectly. Havn't stress tested it though.
T-mobile users beware, T-zones does not work as of this moment.
I have tried all settings.
I was on the fence about buying the 3600 when I read of many people having problems with the screens going out, system slowing down when touching the screen, and the metal peeling, slow performance, ect. I didn't realize that there was a new one, 3600i. Has anyone had any similar issues with it? How is it compared to the 3600 as far as reliability? I believe this would be my perfect device if it just supported SDHC.

The P3600i does support SDHC, at least to 4Gb. Can't test higher capacity mini-SDHC cards yet, not available here.
Oh, BTW, the Quick Fix GPS cab file does work, despite the "placebo" sceptics. Tested exhaustively now for 4 weeks. It downloads ephemeris data from http://www.htcusainc.com/clm as packedEphemeris.ee for NMEA mode. This is exactly, precisely, the same data file for SirfIII GPS in NMEA mode.
TTFF is now 30-60 seconds. Before, 5-10 mins, about which I had justifiable criticism.
Regional setting HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\QuickGPS\region
needs to be correct. I'm using AU for obvious reasons.
The P3600i is now in my view as close to perfection as I may wish.
ROM and RAM higher than 3600,so I think the speed will be higher and stable when run large program.for example,Map guide, etc.
Ian,
I am surprised to ear that P3600 support SDHC 4Go because i bought mine 2 weeks ago and before buying a mini SD i put the question to HTC and got this answer:
Dear Sir,
Unfortunately the HTC P3600 does not support the mini-SDHC format cards, only standard mini-SD. The maximum size you are able to use in the device is 2GB.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html
So i was just prepared to buy a 2GB mini SD, can you confirm that a 4GB SDHC works on a long term basis?
About quickGPS do we have to launch it only every 7 days and nothing else than starting normaly our GPS software (tomtom)? I tried qGPS but i do not see any difference in the fixing time after starting tomtom.
My p3600 Italian version supports SDHC. I'm using a 4GB right now.
8Gb sdhc
Hi!
I using 8Gb micro sdhc card with minisd adapter, and it's work in my p3600.

There is the P3600 according to HTC and the P3600 according to XDA-Developers.
The P3600 according to HTC: WM5, no SDHC, and 4GB-Mini-SD (without HC) is not really a standard so nobody will assure compatibility.
The P3600 according to XDA: WM6, SDHC-compatible due to a new driver.
Beware: There are a lot of different flavours of WM6, as they are built by different persons, not directly by HTC. Their reliability is very different, read the threads to judge whether a built is more shiny, more stable or both.
QuickGPS does not work on the P3600, the standard rule is valid: Don't move until you get a fix. You might save up to 10 minutes.
Have fun!
SD High Capacity memory card drivers for Fujitsu-Siemens C550 and Fujitsu-Siemens N560.
After installing this driver you have working WiFi!
Created by GreateVK and FreePK
This is really exciting stuff!!! unfortunately i won't be able to try this out until 1 month later as my N560 is critical to my daily routine until then (which is also when i'll be finally giving WM6 a go).
Been waiting for this for a long time... any more info? supported capacity? restrictions? compatibility?
GreateVK,
Will this work on an N560 with the original WM5 ROM, please?
Or does it have to be WM6 or WM6.1?
Thanks...
It works great on my N560 with newplow's WM6_016_net3_5 rom so far
Thank you master2048 for answering my second question.
But has anyone got it working on an N560 with the original ROM?
Does it install to main (user re-writable) memory or does it change a portion of the ROM image? If the former, then it might be possible to try it on WM5 devices and then revert by uninstalling the patch if it does not work...
Great work.
I use it on my N560 with original WM 5 ROM, and i use 8GB SDHC, so it works very well. Wifi is OK.

Thanks you for your reply.
And I can confirm that it works on my N560 with original WM5 ROM too.
I bought a 16Gb SDHC and WiFi works too. And ordinary SDs still work fine.
Excellent..... this has given my N560 a new lease of life.
Many thanks to GreateVK and XDA Developers. Brilliant work.

I´d like to report the same good experience, the SDHC CARD Driver is working well on FSJ N560 original WM 5 Rom with a 4GB TECHNAXX Hyperspeed Card, WIFI ist running normal as used to be.
Thanks to the Developers

can anyone comment on the speed of using SDHC? is it really able to sustain the Class speeds? cuz currently my Transcend 4GB 150x non-SDHC is really slow, but I know it's partly the card's problem.

I have a Integral Class 4 16Gb SDHC. It is hard to say if it is any quicker than the Transcend (which I was using before applying the SDHC patch). I agree the Transcend was not zippy. But the Class 4 SDHC seems very fast. It is obviously imited by the Loox addressing/reading speed and therefore may not be able to take fulladavantage of the potential higher transfer speeds.
However, the few tests I have been able to run e.g. copying 8Gb of stuff on from a PC to the SDHC card in the free card reader that came with mine, was very quick. And there were thousands of files... large 300Mb plus and lots of small ones circa 1Mb. Also video playback on TCPMP was just the same as with SD cards - this would be a good test of sustained transfer rate....
So the performance in my judgement is the same and possibly better.
WM6 Rom
I bought Fujitsu-Siemens C550 recently and it came with WM5. Could some body let me know where can i get WM6 rom for this device.
I've installed this SDHC driver on my N560 with Team's 777 WM 6 ROM and so far so good . But I'm using a regular SD 2 GB. Now that I can get a large SD I may go for 8 GB .
THANKS TO THE DEVELOPERS
works beautifully
Problem aftet Hard reset
Aftter Hard Reset, the SDHC driver is gone. My N560 did not recognized the 8GB SDHC card any more. I had to reload the SDHC driver from the PC and only then I could activate my SPB Backup file.
Is there a way to add this driver in such a way that it will survive hard resets? Otherwise it will be a mess if someone needs to restore while being away from his PC
Please advice
I belive that there's an N560 ROM that has it built it. But you could carry a small capacity SD with a full backup, once you have it up and running you could put your SDHC again.
It may sound a bit trivial, but I'm using an old low capacity SD card (64MB !) for just having the driver stored there.
After a hard reset I would first use this SD card to install the driver, then using my (standard) HCSD.
SDHC driver
Yes, that's what I'm doing too (low capacity SD with important system files).
But anyhow, is there a method to "burn" a driver into the existitng WM 6 ROM of N560?
Thanks
Bettet solution
I managed to store the SDHC driver file (some 32KB) on my mobile phone memory (internal od memory card). Then by connecting via Bluetooth's file transfer profile, I can transfer the driver to my Hard Reseted N560 and continue from there. No need to carry an additional SD card (which can get lost easily), no need to access a PC and my phone is always with me.
Thanks for this it is fantastic my N560 is finaly working with HC card and Wifi is on THANKS:
Thanks ! it was the ultimate improvement I was waiting for on my loox...
hello it's possible to upgrade toshiba E350 to WM5
Thanks a lot !
I was just given one of these also, unfortunately, toshiba only graced this device with 16MB of ROM. I don't belive it's possible to fit WM2003SE or higher on that little ROM.
I don't mind the lack of wm5 anyway, since no bluetooth, no wifi, no phone, and no SDHC limits what it can be used for. It does do what I want it for though (I have a 30GB ipod HDD, and plan to use the usbhost function of the device to make a media player )
If you find anything though, please post here...
