Sleuth's Developer ROM v2.0 Released!

v2.0 of my developer ROM is now available. Core/XIP is the official WM6 core. Bluetooth, Power Management, Communications Management and GDI are also from the official ROM. Most of the built in apps have been refreshed. Finally, for you Tom-Tom/VPN addicts, the DUN bluetooth profile is now available in addition to Internet Sharing!
Because my imgfs is completely custom, this ROM will report itself as follows:
CE OS 5.2.1437(Build 17913.0.3.0)

can toggle the phone skin between Video and Non-video modes using lsvw's TweakUI program
WM6 tap sounds are enabled
This ROM will play 3G streams or local mp3s over A2DP in powersave mode to Coreplayer or Audio Manager. Unfortunately, WMP can't do this. This is because I forgot to refresh WMP
The Official bluetooth Handsfree Profile has been cooked into this ROM. This provides even better Car Kit compatiblity.
This ROM is free for you to personalize. I'm not in this for the donations (although they're always appreciated ), rather my primary focus is to give you a better Hermes. So, use this base ROM to learn the ROM kitchens then go make your own ExtROM for this to customize Today Screen etc. Simply add a file called preconfig.txt to /windows to enable autoconfig (you'll need to dump a production ROM to unravel the syntax btw) to run your extrom at cold-reset startup. Because Preconfig.txt has been removed, the base rom has no autoconfig and will go directly to the today screen.
Free storage memory remains at about 49MB and free program memory is 29MB. Displayed Today screen items have been reduced and re-ordered in this manner (note: the additional plugins are still present, just unchecked in Today settings):

The installer will also upgrade your splash screens to the Gold HTC Innovation theme. Your Radio, IPL and SPL will remain unchanged. However, for best results I recommend running a radio that's at least 1.40. AT&T subscribers in the US should upgrade to the v1.48.00.00 radio for vastly improved performance.
I'm using OliPro's latest RUU installer in this version and recommend installing using the SSPL option. Vista users: be sure to check out this guide for how to make SSPL installers work on your version of Windows. Or, jcespi2005 reports that with the latest WMDC (v6.1), you can upgrade through CustomRUU normally like in XP. WMDC 6.1 itself can be found here.

"Bling" in this ROM
Sorry, but there are no fancy today themes, catchy colors or spectacular splashes included in this base ROM. All you get is performance and reliability. Bling is a personal expression, so you're free to add your own.
So, what's on your today screen? Post screenshots! Upload themes & post links and I'll put them below.
CUSTEL's black theme (thanks CUSTEL) http://www.tri-syndicate.com/CUSTEL.tsk.zip (just change the name to CUSTEL.tsk after downloading, its not a zip file). I'm actually running this one now because the block style taskmanager looks better with black menu/taskbars.
v2.0 Release Notes (check back here periodically for updates)
X-Button requires the latest versions of SPB Weather/SPb Time to correct the "Black Font" issue. The latest version of SPB Weather is v1.7.0 Build 767 and the latest version of SPB Time is v2.1.5.
The softkey editor settings are initially out of sync with the actual softkeys. Additionally, you must SR after the first time you use it to get your changes to stick. After that, the program works normally. This is a HTC bug unfortunately in softkeyapplet.cpl
executables stored on your SD card that don't have their own icons will flicker when viewed with the built in Filemanager. GSFinder+ does not experience this quirk. It's very unusual for a Windows Application to not have an icon resource built in so you will probably not even see this one. If you must see what it is I'm talking about, download powerstatus.exe from here, store it on your SC card then view the directory in filemanager.
Be sure to soft-reset after you complete the initial startup. This will activate HSDPA and initialize your WiFi MAC address.
Howto: Speed up CommManager and free up storage memory.
Use PHMRegedit to search for the value "DisableButtonText". Change this value from a 2 to a 0. Reset your Hermes by pressing and holding the power button then answering yes to the dialog that is eventually displayed. The downside is that you disable the "eye candy" interface too.

With your previous release I had some problems car charging; but now I run the Dopod rom and I don't have the problem anymore.

All Official WM6 components are from the Dopod ROM.

Why there are this problem?

You mean when you autodetect on the bootloader selection screen?
If so its just that activesync hasnt detected the phone, disconnect, soft reset it, let it boot to windows mobile and plug the usb lead in again.. then try again.

Just flashed this one and noticed something strange.. My WiFi MAC has changed.. it isnt missing.. but it is weird and may be an indication of a WiFi MAC bug..
Its now 00-00-00-00-AC-9D which doesnt look like a valid MAC address..
Im gonna try it now and see if its still working.
/edit: It Isnt working, networks all come up as unavailable when I try to connect to them but its not the same issue as the DeadWLAN one as I CAN activate wifi.

hmmm.. seems that the solution is to turn on wifi, then soft reset.. when it comes back up your MAC will be right again and all will be fine.
Strange bug/error? Or just my device playing silly games?

Instead of auto, choose the version of hardspl that you have installed (boot to tri-color to find this)

Flashed again.. this time its changed too: 00-00-00-00-99-E1
powering on WLAN and Soft resetting has returned it too it's proper value.. Seems to be a weird issue where the ROM cant read the correct MAC on first boot.

[Obsolete] Pandora Naked ROM with Big Storage

Points to note:
Button 5 is mapped and ready to use / PTT is disabled
It uses Bepe's Big Storage OS.nb/XIP v3.60 and is based on a stripped version of austinsnyc Lite ROM (with permission - thanks dude!)
It does not launch extended ROM or storage card installations, nor does it include a radio, IPL/SPL, splash screens, extended rom, or anything else. JUST THE OS.
Memory Details:
Storage Free: 80.04
Program Free: 30.49
(Launcher and poutlook.lnk removed from /Windows/Startup - nothing installed, after reset and fully rebooted)
I would recommend you install the .NET Framework after flashing, as I did not include 2.0 or 3.5 in the base and some programs you install / use may require it to work. See the next post for links / downloads.
Why? I wanted a super stripped and fast base to add my cabs to with a crapload of storage. I don't have the time to keep tweaking my custom rom configuration, so this will give me the most flexibility and performance.

Using KarhU's stats, I put together this build based on performance statistics. It's clean and fast - and should run as fast (if not faster) as the best one's out there. I should have started a new thread - as it's a whole new ball of wax - but it's look and feel is exactly what I started after.

It uses bepe's modded 3.60 OS.nb/XIP, and it does not include a 3G dialer.
I retained the HTC3GVT.dll within the rom in case you have your own 3G version you want to use.
*Edit: The dialpad you install needs to have all the components, including the dialpad and smartdial dll's, to use with 3G.

The same here, then I took the .wm. version, that works with my Hermes. How did you manage to install it???

If you use the CAB-file with .wm. in it (NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab), it should work..

I wonder: if you install everything afterwards using cabs, will this use more memory or will it be the same as coocked in ROM? In other words: do cooked-in programs use the same memory (size and type) as CAB-installed programs, as far as you know?

Sorry for the cab mistake, I'll fix the reference in the first post and make it clearer. I meant to say "after flashing, install the .NET framework before installing any other programs."
As for the memory comparison, the total space consumption is about the same, but you don't have the extra dsm and .rgu files, and the files are installed to the correct target directory, rather than all residing the windows directory - increasing file system performance (at least while browsing the contents of the /Windows directory anyway).

Directories seem take forever to load in file explorer.
Edit: Soft-reset seemed to fix that. Now navigating through directories seems much quicker than previous rom. Overall the device seems 2x as fast as my last rom. I had like 5 programs opened and running and still navigating through the start menu and then settings/programs screen was instantaneous. Great frickin rom so far.

The only time I've seen this issue with after running PIM Backup and restore my phone settings. After restoring, it's super slow until I reset, then all is fine. It's done it on every rom I've used.

Thanks for great ROM, will try it out sometime. PIM backup hogs up cpu after restore, i usually let my phone sit for a while, and then it finishes whatever it does. I used to softreset the phone as soon as i restore, but not anymore. I think it mainly hogs the cpu after call log restore, if there is call logs of 100 or more..

EDIT!!: : This ROM is gone, removed the info about it since none of it applies anyway anymore, as the files have been lost and I no longer have a Vogue. Sorry for not updating this before guys.

Found first bug...
Titanium weather - I've been having hell with this plugin, sometimes it shows icons, sometimes it doesn't. It worked in my preliminary builds, but not in this build ....
So in the spirit of a CLEAN ROM, I will simply remove it in the next update so the latest version can be installed if wanted. (updated now)

I enjoy a nice, clean ROM on my phone, and then add anything I want to tweak from there. The benefits of a clean ROM like this include the fact that you won't have outdated versions of software you don't use built into the firmware after a hard reset, there are fewer apps to be buggy or running in the background, and you get to install JUST what you want to run. Also, you get the benefit of having a LOT more free memory.
The Lothinator Vogue ROM for 6.5 provides the bare essentials to have a running phone and little else. There were a few choices made, of course, in the building of the ROM, which certain users may agree or disagree with, but this is about as clean as I could bring myself to make it!
Notably missing:
This does not include any Manilla2d as it is designed to work without. It also does not include any versions of Opera, as these are frequently updated. Also, the keyboard options are limited since keyboard selection is very personal, and the menu could get cluttered quickly! Also, there are no custom dialpad skins - this will use the standard Windows 6.5 Dialpad.

Currently only available in Sprint. If you want a dozen features added, go see NFSFan's ROM, it is a great one, and he's better at this than I am anyway. If you just want a bare, clean 6.5 ROM, here ya go.
No screenshots because, well... This is Windows Mobile 6.5 and there's not anything special to see.
MEMORY USAGE: With 24mb PagePool size (This is with the Standard Version, UltraLite may have more free)

(this is after loading my contacts with MyPhone & a few other minor settings changes, YMMV)
KNOWN ISSUE: For some reason, "Wireless Network Detected" is being set to the default sound on this ROM. This didn't occur until recently, and I'm not sure what has caused it. It causes the phone to beep every so often and you will certainly want to disable this in the sound settings. I am currently trying to research what is exactly causing this to be enabled.

Nice! I managed to clean the rom, but I'm not proficient enough at cooking to inject other Apps. If you could pm me with any tips about doing this we could get an epix cooking community going!

Nice job. I installed your build when you first put it out. AT&T apps are definitely gone, which is a good start, but I was not able to get GPS to get a lock. We still have some figuring out to do on the GPS issues...and I think it won't be right until Samsung puts out a new update as the problems seem to be in the radio firmware.

When I first got my epix and after I installed the official update, GPS wouldn't lock either. It took about 30 min to get the first lock. Also, make sure you have the correct ports set up in External GPS settings (Samsung ships the epix with GPS on GDP1, not COM1).

If you didn't know, the button shortcuts are in the registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys.
I found that editing the registry to set the Messaging button to :MSINBOX instead of the default Messaging.lnk makes it open *much* faster. Maybe you could set this in the next version of the ROM.

I have read the threads on your work with the ROM for the Epix both 6.1 and your 6.5 and just have not had the stones to try the flash myself yet. I did want to say I do have a little hosting space and if you want a place to upload your programs where the users can just straight download them and not have to use Rapidshare or megauploads etc just let me know. I do not use the site for much but like a personal blog and have more than enough bandwidth and space. I use this forum alot so anything I can do to help out the cause I am game for.

The only problem I've run into using this BIN is I lose the ability for MMS. It only allows me to use text. What am I missing?
(I already did the ID1 update, and rolling back to that bin enables MMS. So does trashcan's WinMo6.5 BIN. Only seems to be in this one.)

I'm concerned about downloading the ROM WITH THE ID1 update because if I want to update to the offical WM 6.5 again, wouldn't that damage the phone's radio? I've heard issues like that. I haven't yet found a clean WM 6.1 ROM without the ID1 update.

Copy original files from \windows directory: zylonite_keyboard_us.dll and small file begins from sym0...txt from current swedish firmware that are you using and post here. Il make cab.

Not sure if PIMS still work fine for new WM 6.5.3. its designed for wm5-6.1. I have attached cab for you. It plces link to Utils in Start Menu.. So please check if its working specially for mails.
But I recommend you to use MyPhone. Download it from Marketplace in start menu.

Have no shortcut for it in start menu. sorry forgot to put it.
Its starts any automatically in memory and shortcut of program can found in \windows\ folder.

Actually I already downloaded the PIMBAckup application cab and installed it and just added the shortcuts manually. It works.

Plese use google search for now, there are tons of manuals also on this site. Sorry, dont have time now looking for that. Later, I will post all guides. they are different to xp /vista (win7).

In lock mode if the screen is on, the volume keys are not locked.
