Hi,
Every so often TomTom on my orbit loses sight of the maps I have on my storage card. I can't see any reason for this and have to recover from a phone backup . Once the internal memeory of the phone is recovered the maps are then visible.
Any ideas on what may be getting corrupt?
Cheers,
Neil

HTC P3300 loosing TomTom Maps
Me too. Italian OS. Once I even had to reactivate the map, after the restore. Last time that I launched TomTom receiving a msg of the type "Cannot find maps..." I just made the PDA restart with a soft IPL. Will you believe? At the restart TomTom didn't complain for any map missing.
Maybe it's a matter of low available memory when TomTom cannot locate maps.
Hope this might help you. Let us see, if anyone else is posting his experience.
Thanks for your comments.
Once TomTom loses it's maps, a soft rest wont allow it to see them, I just keep on getting the message and the opportunity to download a free one from the website.
I did a bit of playing around last night and can confirm that a hard reset then allows TomTom (installed on the Storage Card) to see the maps (I don't need to reinstall, just run the exe file) so it looks to me as if its something getting corrupt in the standard internal memory of the phone and that this is causing the loss of maps.
Neil
This is an SD card corruption issue. Email HTC to lobby for a fix. See the relevant thead.
I don't see that it's storage card corruption. If you read my last post you would see that the SC was left alone when a hard reset was performed. The hard reset would only affect the internal memory and that cleared the issue.
I think something is getting corrupted in the internal memory and not letting TomTom find the path to its maps. Maybe something is messing up a registry entry?
believe me. I have had this problem over 10 times in the last month. When the tomtom maps go missing, the map folder is usually empty. This can normally be rectified by softg-reseting the device which uses the backup FAT for the SD card (so I've read in the relevant thread) and restores the missing files. However, if the device attempts to write to the card again, after corruption (which TT does on application exit) then the card will be permenantly corrupted.

During a reset (hard or soft) WM5 will do a version of scandisk on any storage devices connected (Micro SD) which will try to fix FAT errors. So a reset does effect the SD card and can repair it.
OK RicardoC & debully, thanks for your advice.
I have already emailed HTC tech support a while ago. You know, I still think Resco file explorer may be the common link to my SD card woes..... I'll have to wait and see.

Bluetooth possibly
Hiya,
I had this problem and it seemed to be linked to the bluetooth explorer setting a new storage card (virtual), if you get this problem go into settings and turn off bluetooth explorer and check what storage options are available from the memory settings, the bluetooth storage should have disappeared. Once I'd done this tomtom could find the maps again.
Hope this helps.... and you don't actually have SD problems....

thank you!
i have tryed that and it seems to do the bussiness
This also happens if you have Bluetooth Explorer activated in your Bluetooth settings.
TT6 losing maps, you are not alone.
I know this doesn't excatly help, but I don't think that this is unique to the artemis.
I have the same problem with TT6 on my himalya (XDAii). It seems to be linked to either phone S/W or BT stack as I have had it happen to me several times after I have made or received a call. My workaround is to remove and reinsert the SD.
Has any one checked if other handheld PC users have similar probs (HP?) with TT6?
I have used TT6 with no problems on X51v.
Only had the problem on the Orbit when the Bluetooth Explorer was activated.
Hi,
I had the same problem on my Orbit, never experienced the SD corruption though. I eventually solved the Map problem by following the instructions, not sure where I got them from, perhaps somewhere on this site.
The instructions stated the following:
1) create an empty file on your PC and name it 'autorun.exe'
2) create a directory named '2577' at the same level as your maps.
3) copy the empty autorun.exe file to the 2577 directory
this did the trick for me
Removed the Bluetooth explorer from the Bluetooth installing settings from the Comm manager and hey presto, maps are back.
Rock and Roll.
Hi everybody,
I'm stuck trying to upgrade my TyTn to WWE WM6 (HTC_TyTN_WWE_3.54.255.3_6275_1.48.00.10_108.exe).
After following all the steps of the upgrade wizard, the screen of the Tytn goes black and subsequently the ActiveSync connection is lost. After a while i then get the dreaded "ERROR [260]: CONNECTION".
I am running the original ROM (ROM 1.18.255.3) , and active sync 4.5 on Windows XP SP2. I downloaded the WM6 upgrade directly from HTC website after properly registering my device.
I even tried upgrading to SPL version is 2.10.olipro, but i still get the same behaviour.
[EDIT] Another thing i noticed is that when launching the upgrade executable, when it "veryfies informationj on my computer", if the TyTn is already connection via ActiveSync, it automatically resets into bootloader (4 colors window) and i am forced to perform a soft reset before re-trying the upgrade.
Could anybody help me out here?
Thx!
few people have seen this - no solution as yet.
Best workaround is to use the SD Card update method. No USB connection required.
todd_jg, could you please point me out to a procedure for upgrading to WM6 via SD card?
Thank you in advance.
dondobert
There is a description in the WIKI, just go HERE for instructions on how to flash from SD card.
Best wishes
I'm having the same exact problem....
I'll try the SD card method I guess. I'm suspecting it has something to do with how activesync recognizes my phone, because when I just sync normally it doesn't do it as well as previous phones, for example when I plug in the phone it wont auto recognize, I hafta manually start active sync on my computer before it starts.
this is because the usb port in the device is crap...it gets worn and then the cable gets lose....im having the same problem ,it is a nitemare...new usb cable sometime fixes the problem.i have tried 7 new cables the same happens. it gets so bad tha you will be unabled to charge the device,im afraid we got to send the device to htc for repair.
Still nothing...
Just tried for a few hours to perform the upgrade via SD card... but no way!
After reading various threads on the forum i think i tried every tweak and twist in order to have the upgrade via SD card method work (made sure the SD card is formatted as FAT32, not corrupted and with only the HERMING.nbh on it; tried also with SSPL-HERM.exe; etc.) but still no success at all.
Like other users i read of, after entering bootloader, my TyTn just sits there and the only way to proceed is to perform a soft reset.
Any idea?
Has anybody who has the USB upgrade problem been able to succesfully upgrade with the SD card method, or does there seem to be some kind of connection between the two failures?
Thx
@dondobert -
i assumed, you have already tried to uninstall and re-install ActiveSych 4.5 and recreate the synch profile.
OR
try this -
#1. on your phone device goto start-settings-connections-USB to PC
and set the tick mark to Enable advanced network.
#2. synch your device via ActiveSync
#3. do your upgrade OS or Radio
#4. once you are completed the install, undo #1.
Note 1: only do the above steps if you are having continously encountered the lost connectivity to ActiveSynch during the OS or Radio upgrade.
Note 2: your device must has either HardSPL Olipro method or SuperCID
The best way I have found to work around error 260 is
First disable Antivirus software
Next Go into Windows Firewall then exception tab, and search for "Windows Mobile-based Device Connectivity". Check it as an exception.
For the people who use Microsoft Live OneCare,
Go to "Change OneCare Settings" then go to the "Firewall" tab then click the "Firewall Connection Tool" . Make sure the Active Sync/Windows Mobile Device Center is checked on
Good luck
Let me know if this works

I had this problem, and managed to upgrade with my SD card just fine. In fact, my upgrade died and the device was stuck on bootloader mode.
The SD upgrade method is so reliable I may just do it now for every upgrade.
@dondobert -
on your reply post #8, you have mispelled on the HERMING.nbh file name. it should be HERMIMG.nbh
please verify the file name on your SD card, and rerun the SD procedure.
I had the same 260-error. Fixed:
- Did a "Clear Storage" (factory settings)
- Did all the "settings up your new device"-stuff.
- Did new active sync to computer (vista)
- Flashed just fine from original exe. (And i do have olipro SPL)
I have problem and resolved
Hi I have a same problem but, i just try to upgrade with mobile in boot mode and appears the error, but when connect normally mobile to pc and start upgrade error dissapear, and upgrade full, schap's spanish and radio 1.50 try this method cheers
Had the same problem and got it working
You need to set you TyTn in bootloader (4 color screen) mode and then connect it to the computer. then start loading the WM6 and you should be fine. I had done it using Schaps wm6 and it worked fine...
good luck.
Hi there ...
I had the same Prob with error 260 ...
- After i disabled the "USB-TO-PC" extendet function
- Reboot the PC
- Soft Reset my Vario II
ist works, but i don't know why
I hope it will work on yout decive to ... CU No.Trace !!!
Successful!!!
Thank you all for the great support!
For all of those out there still struggling with the problem, for me it finally worked following hellomotto's suggestion.
Regarding otoro_315 remark: yes, my mispelling int he post, file name on SD card was indeed HERMIMG.nbh.
Thank you all again!
Cheers
Had exactly the same problem. Resorted to SD upgrade - went very smoothly (Official Cingular WM6). However, will keep these suggestions in mind for the future.
I think the SD upgrade probably also eliminates some possible points of failure. According to wiki instructions, SD must be erased except for the img file - takes a bit to transfer 2G to/from SD. Don't know if this is a must - but didn't want to take a chance. Might just buy a cheapie SD just for upgrades.
One more for the SD card method. Extremely quick too ...I was really amazed that a 45MB ROM would flash in less than 5 minutes.
And it worked fine for me WITHOUT even formatting the SD Card first, I just pasted the extracted .nbh file to the root folder and loaded the SSPL file.
You mean the SD card was not erased and there were other files on it? (You don't say that explicitly).
I too was amazed at the speed - the wiki said it takes about 30 minutes - when it indicated complete in less than 10 min, I let it alone for about 15 min. because I thought it was going to do something else!

Hi All,
I just purchased an o2 XDA Orbit with the free Copilot software. I installed it from the mini sd card and all seemed ok. I entered the product key and activation code which all went well.
Then I proceeded to setup the options but under 'Set Language' there is not language to choose and no voice either. I tap 'Next' anyway and choose Mile as my 'Map Units', tap next and I cannot get pasted the warning screen that mentions 'exercising caution whilst using the product'. I have re-installed and searched the Internet all day and cannot find anything. I'm bored and tired.
Does any have a solution or experienced this problem? I guesing it's something to the with paths pointing to the wrong location but I'm not sure.
Regards,
Aston
Never used my free CPL software just got Tomtom straight away.
Try reinstalling it maybe ? there are 3 CDs with it so do you have to add the voices via a cable PC connection ?
the screen exerciseing caution is a us requirement so is put in all versions you should be able to tap an ok or next button an then you should be able us the application
Hello,
I have recently installed CPL7 with no problems having uninstalled CPL6, this ran with no problems aswell. I have a 2GB Micro SD card, so I copied all the folders/files from the install card directly to the 2GB card, then once inserted into the phone, the phone found the install and installed CPL7. All the folders/files from the install card remain on the card now. Did you install from the card then remove the card(don't know if this is important or not)?

I have thought about doing a hard reset on the device but wanted to check with you guys if there is a simple fix, the unit needs replacing? or if the hard reset would work. If I was to do the hard reset what can I use to backup all my contacts with there facebook links etc and will the facebook links still exist?

You can use a program called Sprite Backup, although its not free. That will backup a lot of things, but to be honest, its probably best to start from scratch as it backs up all registry changes too, which could be the problem for you.
My bluetooth works fine, what part are you having trouble with?
Bluetooth Issues
I am having the same problem.
I have narrowed it down to tomtom installation (no bluetooth issues until tomtom is installed)
I have tried with TT7 910 9185 as well as TT7 445 and after the reboot the same error occurs.
I have also tried installing it on the memory card, and hard resetting it, however, the TomTom doesn't appear to talk to any Satellites.
I installed Tomtom 7.910.9185 and it says "Unable to start. Not enough memory" or similar. I installed it from cab on my 8GB Storage Card in the same way that worked perfectly on my Raphael.
The point of telling you that is my bluetooth is still working perfectly.
As for you Bladesharp, surely if you Activesync all the relevant links and details will remain with your contacts? I'd say a hard reset will determine if it's a hardware issue.

I'm on 7.915 for TomTom and don't have the issue.
Links to Facebook won't transfer with Active Sync, they are stored somewhere seperately on the phone and are not part of the Contacts program in pOutlook.exe, they are part of Manila which is not transferable. Not sure where it is stored, have been looking now for about 2 months
I came across something similar to this last week after installing TomTom from a CAB, and found this post on a related issue...
http://www.noeman.org/gsm/trash-section/65951-tomtom-7-bluetooth-problems-sorted.html
I deleted the two bluetooth files (BtSdKCE30.dll & BtCoreIF.dll) from the TomTom CAB as described, did a hard reset and reinstalled, and haven't had the problem since. Could be the same issue?
Could someone who has not installed TomTom please post the dates of their BtCoreIf.dll & BtSdkCE30.dll? Mine are both 04/24/08 20:10.
Does anyone know if it is possible to revert to the ROM version of these files WITHOUT doing a hard reset?
If some kind person was able to provide me with the ROM version, can I just overwrite the ones in RAM?
R
These came from my device's \Windows directory, and are dated 14th May. I think they are unaffected by this problem, certainly I don't get the boot delay or BTTray boot crash that seem to be the possible symptoms of this. (Use caution, of course; backup what you can before tinkering in case of disaster.)
Sounds the same as my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522373
someone already tried the above files? will it correct the problem?
Thanks for the files.
I am happy to confirm that installing the two DLLs gets BTTrayCE.exe working again.
I just renamed the 04/24/08 versions to .was and use Total Commander to copy the files from my storage card to \Windows and rebooted the phone... ActiveSync wouldn't let me copy them directly from my PC as it said there was already a 05/14/09 version there and it was read-only!
As it rebooted, it complained that BtCoreIf.dll was from an unknown supplier but I just OK'd that and everything is fine. Bluetooth & TTN working.
R.
PS Didn't need to copy BTTrayCE.exe as this had not been overwritted.
Ah, thanks for letting me know. I wasn't sure if the exe was also needed, I only included it since one of the symptoms I was getting was that this wasn't a valid executable; but I guess that was just caused by the corruption of the dll's.
I don't think the DLLs are corrupted, just an earlier version.
Just like the bad old days of Windows 3.1 where installing one package would break others due the installing of different versions common DLLs. Gosh, I feel old!

Ah yes; that makes more sense! I still had a boot delay even with the files from the most recent TomTom version I could find.
Hi there,
i had the same Problem with TT. In my case I also copyed the BTTrayCE.exe. Now I dont get any error anymore but the Bluetooth can still not be started. Can somebody please upload the Original BTTrayCE.exe. Thank you
I did a reset of my Swisscom German Device. Copyed the 3 BT Files and installed the TT7 v7.910.9185 again. After restart of my Device the same BT Error. I replayced the 3 Files with my Original ones and restarted again. New Error comes up "Bluetooth Stack can not be started"

Thanks guys a lot. Rewriting those two files solve the problem. Bluetooth works now.

Thanking you very much kind sir. I unzipped these files directly to my storage card in USB mode and just double clicked the exe file and it fixed my bluetooth up for me. (good job as I am a technical biff when things get registry level)
EDIT sorry I thought it did but it didn't just fix it by double clicking the exe. I've hard reset now as I don't really know what I am doing
As said in the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522373&page=4
There is no need to replace the two files.
Just delete them and soft reset. They will be replaced with the two right ones.

I had the same and here's what I just discovered and what worked:
I removed the files and expected them to be replaced upon restart. When I checked I noticed a file in the \Windows directory named BtSdKCE50.dll - I had not noticed this before. I (re)moved this, rebooted again and now Bluetooth and FM Radio (!) are working, yay!
hth,
TA2
This fixed my problem. Couldnt delete the old files but copied the replacements over the top and that sorted it. My version of Tom Tom wont work stil but it is 7.5 I think.
I've had exactly the same problem I've tried overwriting the dll's with the files provided in this thread,
Now whilst I don't get the error message, when I try and enable bluetooth, I get "cannot start bluetooth stack" error
Any ideas peeps?
I have a new copy of TomTom Navigator 7 and want to use it on my HTC HD Mini. It was supplied on a 4GB card but as I've got a 16GB card installed in the phone I've copied the contents over.
Originally I fitted the memory card they sent me into the phone but it kept reporting that this version was not compatible with this phone.
How did others manage to get this working on the HD mini...
Roy_s
If you use "search feature", you'll find a lot of post about Tomtom...
The official version is not compatible with HDmini, you have to look for another software version, modified...
Thanks for the reply, I did read some of the other posts but thought that they had managed to get the new version to work. I've used an older version (WM5) on an older HTC phone for a few years. The HD mini being the newer 6.5 you'd have thought it would work and still be compatible........
Roy_s
Like you , i've been disappointed to notice that Tomtom is unable to sell a correct version for a new mobile like HDmini while you can find one easily on the net .
I have asked them about this without correct answer at that moment !
I did the same, they can't even say when it will be tested or even if it is on the list to be tested with this phone.
I've since found the file ttn7.917.9186_vga_black.cab and will try running that to see if it then allows me to run the installation.

If im right, im still using this version succesfully:
TTN_7.916.9192_QVGA_black_fixed_BT
You need the QVGA version with the Bluetooth fix, or else you will get errors.
Yes did see a post about TTN_7.916.9192_QVGA_black_fixed_BT but someone reported the GPS lagged. Have tried to search for that file but can't find a site that allows me to download it.
Still need to confirm the installation steps, do I run the cab first then install Navigator 7 or are there other files that I need to copy over..?
No problem, I have purchased the latest Navigator 7 from TomTom, just need help from everyone to get their software working.....

The cab is Navigator 7 (TTN=TomTom Navigator). I can't imagine you can't find the file after a thorough google search...
Yes, there is some GPS lag. This can be solved by installing GPSmod driver:

Tomtom7 working perfectly in hd mini.
Hello, is more 'than a year I use tomtom 7 - although I prefer (IGOPRIMO1.2) per hour with only ris.480X272 - TTS, but much more detailed than the TomTom. I'm leaving screenshot .... screenshot4 in particular. Here's the data that I use TOMTOM WORKING PERFECTLY! Else can not .........
P.S. my vers. not to install but copy / paste to SD card. Start navigator.exe.
The only copy is on a Dutch share site that you need to be a member to download, tried a number of variations of the name but nothing labelled as BT fix.
So I tried ttn7.917.9186_vga_black.cab which I loaded to the phone memory. It found my map on the memory card and it asks for the activation code but then returns message saying its not valid..?
It's a legal map (Western_Europe_1GB) & code I purchased so should not be a problem.
Maybe I should delete all of the files that TomTom sent me on the SD card and just put the map on there in case their Navigator 7 files are causing the problem.
In fact .... I tried that (cab) you say ..... but does not work. You have to find a zip file, where there is only one folder. you just have to (COPY IN SD CARD) exe = navigator.exe. no installation on device! Then you have to validate your map.
p.s.To run you must first validate the MAP. by the code of your device you need the code for tomtom. the code of the device (it IDENTIFYING YOUR PHONE) is one that I deleted on screenshot4.

Thanks for the reply, I'm not sure I understand fully.
The cab I have loaded (ttn7.917.9186_vga_black.cab) you say does not work, which one did you use & where can I get it?
I can't find any file called navigator.exe either in the phone or on the memory card or the SD card that TomTom sent me.
Hello. You can not tell you more, because it violates copyright laws ......
I try to make you understand:
1. tomtom program:
time ago I tried (ttn7.917.9186_vga_black.cab) but I had problems .... then turning the net I found a file.zip. Inside a folder (Navigator). if you find that you just file.zip estract in sd card root. start *. exe. The version that I use are in screenshot4.
2 then you have to unlock the MAP,
ie have the license (serial number that you derive from your serial device). Your serial device appears when you start tomtom for the first time. (registration map).
I hope you understand.
Thanks for the reply, my version is a purchased copy from TomTom so I'm not violating anything I'm just trying to get it to work. The steps I've done so far are:-
Loaded TomTom 7.916.9192 QVGA black bt.cab
> Bttrayce error reported at boot up, deleted files BtCoreIf.dll & BtSdkCE30.dll, rebooted phone
> No error message
> Run Navigator, "Western_Europe_1GB map has not been activated" message
> Entered code from TomTom, message to say "Activating"
> Error "Activation failed. Sorry this is not a valid map activation code for Western_Europe_1GB"
The map is valid, it was supplied on a memory card with the activation code by TomTom, I have only copied the map to the memory card in the phone, none of the other files on the card supplied by TomTom.
I seem to have got over the Navigator installation problem but can't get the map to activate...? Its like this cab is not compatible with the latest map I have.
I have got TomTom v7 working on the HD mini.
As this was a purchased copy I contacted TomTom support and they manually activated the map, I loaded their activation file and all working.
I have noticed a little lag, not by much, but if I compare to an older phone running TomTom my new version seems to be 10 to 20 meters behind....?
Is this the GPS lag that others have pointed out, is there a latest patch to correct this...?
Not tried the home application yet either.
