FInixNOver 3.1.1 - Merged or Split SMS/MMS folders? - P3600 ROM Development

Well I think the thread title is self explanatory, but I'll explain just in case...
What I want to know is how many of you prefer the Split folders(one for Text Messages and another for MMS), and how many prefer the Merged folder(only one folder for SMS/MMS).
I'm not talking about the threaded messages (where messages are shown as conversations), that's whole different story and is only a registry tweak away to be customized.
The merging or splitting of the folders is a more complex process that involves switching from one software version to another.
Here will be decided if I'll cook the ROM with version 4.2.8.1(Split folders) or 5.0.31.7(Merged folders).
I can also say that version 4.2.8.1 takes ~700Kb more Storage space than version 5.0.31.7.
So, it's up to you users to decide. As you are aware, the option with more votes will be the winner, so don't forget to vote.
The poll will end on March 27th 2008, so I can release the final version on March 28th 2008.

FInixNOver, what about performance which one will be faster? we should look into this matter.
BTW I vote to ver 5.0.31.7
Thanks for your realy great job, I am waiting for your lite ROM.

some performance issue on FInixNOver 3.1.1 or 3.1 , it take 8- 10 sec. to open a threaded sms.. is this normal?.. could it be the newer the better?..

I vote for 5.0.31.7(Merged folders)
Very thanks for your work.

I prefer SPLIT with 5.x can you?
thank you for all

Just always keep messaging open in background. It doesn't consume a lot of memory anyway.
I prefer merged SMS/MMS folder, that's only way to actualy send MMS just by typing a name in TO: field, just like it is when sending SMS. In seperated folder I must go to Add recipement than choose from contact list.

5.0.31.7(Merged folders).
I vote for 5.0.31.7(Merged folders).
Thank you so much

I voted split... WM6.1 has threaded SMS, so it's quite difficult to distinguish a MMS from a SMS without trawling through a huge list of messages.
Say you had 2 MMS and 100 SMS from "John"... you would have to actually trawl through all 100 SMS msgs just to find the MMS. In non-threaded WM6.0 with merged MMS/SMS, you can easily find MMS messages because they have different icons, not so in threaded WM6.1

Split
I voted for split, because for me its much more clear!
Ans btw: somewhere in the forum I read that there is a bug in the version 5.x. But I can't remeber what it was :-(
br Chris

Poll Results
The people have voted, and decided to go with version 5.0.31.7(Merged folders). It's sad that from the 318 users that have downloaded the beta version, only 76 users have voted... well, I guess the rest of the other users don't mind about which version is used, or are waiting for the light version... (or just downloaded to test and went back to their previous ROM )
Stay tunned for the final release tomorrow.

Windows Mobile "XDA Live" Edition

I'm liking Windows Mobile "XDA Live"
as the name in honor of all XDA-Dev has done for us.
I'll be keeping this post updated with progress/news.
Understand that I can not release this Rom without the approval of my source, they need to protect their livelihood. The second I'm given the go ahead, the floodgate with open but until then I simply can't unless I want to burn a good source who put a lot of trust in me.
My primary goal is to get an uncluttered Rom that is useful from the start, think Faria-lite..
If everyone is good and doesn't keep me from getting this done, I will release the scripts that I am using to build & rebuild this rom easily so that each of you can confidently do exactly as I am. I can release the scripts maybe this weekend regardless of the status of the Rom because they are independent of the Rom you are cooking.
Quick FAQ:
Q: Can we get a "Clean" version of the Rom.
A: When released there will be several packages:
"Clean OS" Rom with only HTC-X and Comm Button Toggle Vibrate Fix integrated.
"Hit the Ground Running" Rom with several useful apps embedded (you will be able to disable everything that is embedded) and operator Customizations within easy reach.
Hermes Rom Cookbook, which will include the scripts and tools I am using to do this and instructions on how to apply these to any Hermes Rom.
.nb file only releases for those who want to only swap out the OS ('cause we like our splash screens)
Q: Will WMXL (Windows Mobile XDA Live) fix my corrupted radio bootloader or otherwise bricked Hermes?
A: If the other tools here can't do it then don't bet the farm on WMXL doing it. The Flashing tools are still the same, no magic pill here.
Q: Can you Add XXXX or why not use ZZZZ instead of the App you chose.
A: I have been selective of the apps I am embedding. They may not always be the best at what they do but they are easy to use and small. I will not install 5 different apps with the same function. By having one or two apps you will use embedded you will save plenty of Program Memory to be able to comfortably install the Task Manager, MP3 player or Coffee Temp Monitor of your liking.
Q: Kyphur you are such a Guru, how can I be like you?
A: Remember that my head is in the clouds on this one only because I'm standing on the shoulders' of giants. This project owes it's very existence to many other contributers here and they deserve as much if not more of the cudos than I do. The is a team effort, please support everyone who made this possible. (See my post here). I have been a member her for only 15 months give or take but I have spent more time reading than doing or posting.
Q: If you embed a program into the Rom how can I remove it (to save memory).
A: You can't remove file that are in the Rom. You can remove the Shortcuts to the programs. Again I will repeat that programs in the Rom do not consume any memory. If you don't want the program simply ignore it and it will not harm you.
Q: I have more questions...
A: Read the thread.
Current Status:
I have removed the list ofToday (.tsk) Themes for this Rom. Click here for Images of all the Themes I have collected. I've decided that instead of embedding them all, I will remove all but the default Crossbow Theme and maybe create a custom WMXL (Windows Mobile XDA Live) Theme.
The rest of the collection will be packaged together so everyne can pick and choose their themes. If we figure out how to create a custom Ext_Rom.nd then I will put them there along with Carrier Data & MMS Settings.
I have integrated the following Applications:
Dictionary Editor
HTweakC v2.1
MS Hearts for PPC
PHM Registry Editor ** Will not be replaced by Total Commander...
SMS Backup
StartClean
VJCandelaLite (Flashlight)
I know everyone has their own list of apps they'd like to see but I have chosed these because they are small, simple to use and ADD functionality to the Rom.
I have integrated the following Registry Fixes:
By default only the Date Plugin is enabled (and it is set to a single line).
The Today Screen says "XDA Live" and the about screen shows " - XDA" after the OS Build Number.
Pressing & Holding the Comm Button toggles the between Vibrate & Normal.
PDAViet Memory Leak Fix is Applied.
Disabled the warning for Unsigned Applications (Application Lock)
Misc:
I have added two "Classic RingTones, (OldPhone-US.wma and OldPhone-UK.wav) for those of us who want to get away from the music and chirping Ringers.
I have removed all carrier customizations, no need to soft reset to avoid customization!
Current Known Issues:
The only real issue is that I am bound by a promise to my source to not distribute this Rom until the Carrier releases it or I can get ALL IDENTIFYING INFORMATION removed from it. trust me, I am working on it but there is absolutely no room for errors. Ironically the Rom seems more stable since I've modified it than it was when I received it.
Goals to work on:
Embed TCPMP v0.71RC and Codex Files.
Dropped or moved to low priority:
Voice Command Abandoned... It was proving too troublesome and there are too many reasons (language and dialing rule differences) to not embed it.
Dropped embedding a replacement Calculator, two many personal preferences, they are all lightweight and we can each add our fav later.
As for adjusting how the memory is used, if someone knows how to do that I'm all ears but if it requires shifting things in the image and hex editing it then I think we might hit the NAND Block Issue again.
BTW, this truly is a group effort.
Without pof & team unlocking I never would have even gone looking for the base Rom.
aChef by aklok_hk is doing the heavy lifting.
Sleuth, ShogunMark, Faria ViJay555, Bepe, Maimach have all been instrumental either directly or indirectly in this project.
Des and the SSPL was another step that got me to this point.
Of course there are all of the guys who have been doing this before I bought my first PPC Phone, they blazed the trail I simply walk behind them.
Finally, I can't forget my unnamed source. They took a big change passing this along to me. Without that trust I'd be cooking AKU 3.3 right now.

Hmm, but what you need these themes for? I guess it would be cool if there was no unnecessary stuff you can always download later.

Today themes are small, I would like to include the HTC Standard as well as Carrier Themes for at least the major carriers just as a way to allow us to brand this Rom without having to use any of our storage memory.
Initial Rom will not have any added apps, just clean & stable though I might embed The Hermes Tweaker.
This will be great. I am all for a minimal clean rom. No Addons just crossbow. HTC is fine for me. Just my opinion.
Can't wait.
Thanks

Plans to release...
First I will confirm that this IS NOT an AKU 3.3 Rom.
I have successfully removed most of the identifying info that could lead back to my source (I believe).
Now I'm adding a few things back in like the Press & Hold Comm button for Vibrate Toggle Fix, Today Themes for Carriers and my favorite Ringtone (OldPhone.wma).
I am waiting for a response from my source regarding the info I've cleaned out (I want their approval before I share as I don't want to burn my source).
I hope that this will all happen in less than 1 week.

AHHH! But aren't we getting ahead of ourselves? I see you have WM6 on that pic. What if he's acutally ported Linux to it? Uhhh... wait a second, nevermind.
Nice, I suspect this will be a BIG relase, nice work!
now that people are cooking up some ROMs now, maybe someone can make seperate .cab files for different carriers with all the data settings in it so we can load our internet settings right away after we install cooked ROMs...
A good thing to add to the ExtROM COULD be a feature i noticed on an early iMate rom i used on my hermes. When it was going ahead with the "customisation..." screen it would ask what carrier you are on?! Then IT would apply the appropriate GPRS/MMS settings?!
May be just laziness on my part but would be a COOL feature.

I'm at work now, but from the dutch Qtek site www.qtek.nl you can download a cab file with all the settings from the dutch telecom providers.
If you can't find it I can upload it when I get home tonight.
Would be good If we could collect all the Operator cabs and maybe put them on the ftp?
Probably better than clogging up a ROM with them!?
(LOL il get to work TRYING to track down the O2 one)
Settings Files
Here's Imate and Telstra .tsk, if still needed. Thanks for your great work!
here's the dopod 838 pro .tsk
Does the new os actually close programs or still leave them open when you tap the x-button? If so, what about adding HTC_X-Button.cab?
People can always turn it off if they don't want it.
I also load the two tools below, I think just about everyone uses psshutxp and dictionary editor allows you to get rid of those annoying words you misspell and your phone remembers.... They are all pretty small, but extremely useful.
-mix
here goes the official o2 germany tsk file and the o2 germany internet-flatrate wap settings plus the o2 germany mms settings.
if you need a quicktool that can select what to install i can whip that up in c real quick
oli, i wouldnt cook the gps driver just yet.. we need to play with it on wm6.0 to see if its ok..
question besides:
is it necessary to implement vc? especially if the us version isn`t able to deal with with commands in other languages!
anyway, sounds awesome!!!

Are you installing apps via ExtRom? I'd suggest against having the apps installed as part of the base rom, some of these apps get updated on a fairly regular basis......

As you can see, my list of imbedded apps is intentionally short:
1-Calc Lite (replaced Calculator Shortcut in Start Menu)
HTweakC v2.1
PHM Registry Editor
SMS Backup
StartClean
Microsoft Voice Command v1.6 (US)
HTweakC might see some updates but that would be easy to install the new version over and only loose would be the benefit of saving storage Rom.
By embedding these into the Rom we save several Megs of Storage RAM.
Okay, I'll also confirm this is WM6
Also, added Telsta.tsk, i-mate Grass.tsk, i-mate Swoosh.tsk.
I will not be adding other apps to this Rom. If someone wants to gather carrier Data Connections Cabfiles I would be happy to embedd them directly into the Rom (these settings seldom change).
I think I will add the 8525 eyboard Fix Cab file (but not install it) into the Rom.
Currently working on an XML error in the section of code that would place Voice Command into the Rom.
The other apps are all considered stable versions.

Once I have it in good I can easily generate a parallel Rom without it (I am writing scripts to run the tools which build the Rom so skipping sections is trivial.

I myself don't need PHM Registry Editor since I'm using Total Commander with its integrated registry editor plugin, which I find easier to navigate the registry. And I don't need yet-another-way-too-simple-calculator and would prefer a scientific one with RPN (I always hit the wrong keys on non-RPN-calculators ), like RayRPN.
But if having his preferences on the device is the price to pay for using this "very special rom"... well, as long as we're able to hide them from the start menu/programs menu, I'll gladly pay it

You can delete the shortcuts for anthing you don't like.
Personally I use Resco for Registry & File operations but PHM is simply and requires not install so you have Registry Editing out of the box.
I'll look at RayRPN, I just hate the stupid PPC Calc (still same as the old CE Calc). I love the tip calculator and unit conversion functions of 1-calc.
Again once the integration is done, I can easily generate a 100% plain Rom with no carrier tsk files, images or settings. I figue I'll make use of the time while I wait for approval to release....

Hi kyphur,
I think you can consider to put in the rom the ext rom unhide!

New Naked - Pandora Naked v7.0 Beta 2 with Big Storage

Here's my Naked 7.0 Beta 2 ROM with the following:
Windows Mobile 6 Professional CE OS 5.2.1948 Build 18548.0.7.0
Camera 4.0 build 28276
Internet Sharing
10 Button Black Comm Manager
Comm Manager Vibe Toggle
PreConfig launches SetHSDPA & SetAccousticParameters.
Points to note:
PIE writes it's temporary internet files, cookies, and history to the storage card by default.
Button 5 is mapped and ready to use / PTT is disabled
Because of how I decompiled / built this rom, it has good and bad points regarding the registry. In /OEM/OEMApps and /OEM/OEMDrivers are the .rgu files. They contain ALL of the registry setting for the entire rom. This is super sweet to tweak and screw with anything you want - but makes searching a bit more. I like it.
This uses RanDomIze's Big Storage OS.nb/XIP v3.62 and is a mix from Schap's 4.31 build - but heavily stripped down. Should you desire to donate for this, please remember to include these folks as well.
It does not launch extended ROM or storage card installations, nor does it include a radio, IPL/SPL, splash screens, extended rom, or anything else. JUST THE OS.
Memory Details(no MMS):
W/Big Storage
Storage Free: 83.17
Program Free: 33.00
(Nothing installed and after reset/fully rebooted and ActiveSync killed)
I would recommend you install the .NET Framework after flashing, as I did not include 2.0 or 3.5 in the base and some programs you install / use may require it to work. See the next post for links / downloads.
Why? I wanted a super stripped and fast base to add my cabs to with a crapload of storage. I don't have the time to keep tweaking my custom rom configuration, so this will give me the most flexibility and performance.

Comments on build:
I removed a bunch of entries from the initflashfiles.dat, including the help icon from startup, and the games folder (will be build on first game install). The initflashfiles.dat is really nice for customizing the shortcuts in the start menu. Also cleared out anything that will go into /Windows/Startup except critical stuff (ie poutlook.lnk and launcher.lnk, plus any unused entries from the OEM/Schaps config)
There is no compression at all - so lots of room for improvement in that regard.
Frigging amazing amount of program memory available. While working with the initial builds - I hit 33+ a few times. Damn shocking.
I kept the .htm files - even though the help icon is removed.
I also removed all but one ringtone, and fixed the registry that referenced the three default ones - without doing so even though the files are gone, the registry still says they're available to use.
Schaps and RanDomIze did a killer job on their respecitve parts. I'm gonna buy them both a beer - please do the same
I learned that the .hv files in the /SYS/Metadata are rebuilt completely from the .rgu contents in the kitchen.
After adding in the MMS files, it went down to 79 meg free, but available program memory stayed in the high 32's.
Once rom has proven to be stable, I'll strip it for a new Pandora Kitchen base.
Damn you are fast...LOL...Thanks bro
I've been using Naked 6 since it came out and it is the best/fastest out there. Can't wait to try Naked 7!!!!!!

Hey matt,
I love your 'Today' screenshot.
That alone convinced me to download this Bad Boy!
awesome work, i was beginning to wonder if a 0.7.0 build was ever going to grace your kitchen
anyways is it possible that you could extract the entries in this registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Color]
since the screenies you posted are the standard wm6 teal color i might as well compare the values that the new kitchen brings to your older 6a kitchen.
for anyone who is somewhat curious they could try adding the attachment to their registry to see if the 6a black theme comes back
. just rename the ext back to reg

You certainly can add the color settings to force the color options on first boot - but the problems is once you change your theme it defaults back to the teal anyway.
Now that I've got this setup with the entire registry in one place, I wanted to dig for a the default settings - where the teal color values are kept. That way I can make the default any color we want - and one less thing to change after flashing
looks great!! thanks again for your great work. im running naked 6 now but will be updating to 7 today and will report back!
quick question and this maybe a little retarded. i see that you removed the startup animation dll. does this mean that i cant just place a gif file in the windows directory and enable the startup animation anymore. i have few cabs that i use for the startup animation. just checking.
also could be a dumb question but what's the diff b/w the 7.0 kitchen and the 7.0 3G kitchen?

It'd be something to try, but I'm not sure when I'll have a chance to play. I really like the features in this new build, and want to nail down all the issues right away - which so far is only optimizing the storage space.
So far 6 is my favorite becaue it was based on an OEM release, but this one is gaining ground quickly
PIE might be as easy as replacing the browser folders in /SYS, but I haven't looked too closely at the actual files /dependencies. Could get ugly really quick because of how integrated it might be.
As for SMS, never looked at the components.
If ya get the storage and prgm space nailed down that would be awesome. Thanks again for your work.
Chris
44 meg with MMS... whooo!
Flashing now - will post results in a few, rom to follow.
Edit: overzelous... still working on it.
Sounds GREAT and I cant wait.
Any idea if anyone has got this rom (any version) working on AT&T?
I have had Schaps 4.40(wm6.1), as well as my own build from Pandora's Kitchen. I am currently editing the OEM/SYS directories to accomodate the OEM Pack from previous kitchen. Slowly but surely its coming. Either way, WM6.1 is nice, even just for the threaded sms built in
Thanks mattk_r, i couldnt believe you got a release out so fast. Keep up the good work!
Sweet im gone for 1 day and I come back to every1 going 6.1 crazy!! So this is big storage and still only 60 hmm

When I go to settings/phone or settings/sounds & notifications/notifications tab, change the settings and click "ok", changes don't take effect and the window won't close. It appears to be a problem with the default ring tones that don't play and won't let you change them

Uploading fix for that now... it has a few extra meg free as well. Only 60 total free, but getting better.
Edit: I just uploaded 8b2. I'm curious how the data connect works, as mine stopped working. Not sure if it's the carrier or the phone...
Edit2: Nevermind the data issue. I spoke too soon. Works fine
What data connection issues did you have? On different builds of WM6.1 I have had an issue with Active Sync disconnecting itself.
Also, why did you remove MMS in 8b2?

Win 6.1 - So What's New

Have been following the various ROM threads on here as we rush towards various recipes based on Win 6.1. Problem is I have seen the question on "what's new/what the differences are between 6.0 and 6.1" posed several times but not seen a definitive response.
Someone has commented that the PIM structure in 6.1 is different to 6.0 and that we now have a form of threaded SMS in place. Apart from this and the fact that some screenshots show a differing menu structure, that's about all we know at this time.
Could someone in the know please give a definitive view on what the differences/improvements/negatives are? If this has already been posted and I have missed it then -
1) Apologies
2) Please post up the relevant links
For those of you already using 6.1, what's your global experience so far? Is it worth the hype? Are there any benefits to be gained? What's your view on stability?
Thanks
WB

I haven't upgraded yet, I might wait for one more build/better ROM stability (i.e. maybe Schap's next one! )
- Office Mobile now includes also One Note Mobile application
- Internet Explorer now has function "Zoom Out" what enables page-overview mode and better overall navigation through web pages
- Windows Mobile 6.1 still is based on Windows CE 5.2 so no upgrade to Windows CE 6.0
- SMS chat view mode is available so SMS messages can appear in threaded-way - more comfortable to follow SMS conversations
- instead of "Settings / Memory / Running Programs" now a Task Manager is available with possibility to set settings of executed threads/processes like CPU (indication of dual-core Windows Mobile devices?) and memory
- New menu item "Managed Programs"
Frenchglen, Klabton,
Thanks guys.
In terms of stability my guess is that Schaps and Kin0ken will crack this, if its an issue.
Lets see what the cooks bring out.
Cheers
WB
Mcfarlan,
Thanks for the input. Kin0kin's roms tend to be both stable and fast so it will be interesting to see what he brings out. Like you the improvements to eg PIE won't be of benefit; however overall speed of the rom in the way you describe WILL.
After trying several of the 6.1s, I went back to Shamanix Ultimate because they each have their quirks and for now I need stability. Threaded SMS (I don't do much messaging) and IE enhancements (I use Opera Mini) were not enough to make me switch right now.
What is impressive is the increased performance speed. With 6.1, Active Sync inaitial update was fully completed in less than 20 secs versus 2 - 3 minutes, and browsing the Windows folder were really quick. For me the fastest were a toss-up between Schaps and the PDAVIET versions.
ShadoW 2.0 TE is really a good 6.1 rom, but it does not use the same buildos than most others do
I can say it s really faster than all the older roms. I was a big Schap's fan but the roms that came out since november were getting slower and slower, although always stable and definetely nice looking.
It's worth the upgrade for the extra speed you ll get

Ist this the reason, that the roms available here do not look like this:
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/gallery/handsets/windows-mobile-61/
?
As stated 100 times before: THIS SCREENSHOTS ARE FROM THE SMARTPHONE EDITION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
speed, the other improvements are already available with 3rd party apps (most of which have become standards in cooked roms) however it is faster
very very fast, no doubt about it.
Does anyone know what "Managed Programs" does?
don't know if that's schaps rom feature or 6.1:
- bluetooth automatically paired with my car's handsfree bt device (earlier I had to enter the passcode)

happened with Pays ROM too... guessin it's 6.1
quick question guys, so all 6.1 roms out here has the SMS threaded app by default?
yup.. it does
found on the web
hi,
I have found these articles: http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7065.html
Windows Mobile 6.1 will be unveiled officially in about 2 weeks at Mobile World Congress 2008 (watch our first-hand reports from there!) but already now somebody has managed to play with it!
Here are the highlights:
* Office Mobile now includes also One Note Mobile application - apart from Word Mobile, Excel Mobile and PowerPoint Mobile, one new application is available - it can record voice notes and drawings and textual notes
* Internet Explorer now has function "Zoom Out" what enables page-overview mode and better overall navigation through web pages
* Windows Mobile 6.1 still is based on Windows CE 5.2 so no upgrade to Windows CE 6.0
* SMS chat view mode is available so SMS messages can appear in threaded-way - more comfortable to follow SMS conversations
* instead of "Settings / Memory / Running Programs" now a Task Manager is available with possibility to set settings of executed threads/processes like CPU (indication of dual-core Windows Mobile devices?) and memory
* new menu item "Managed Programs"
* the much expected improvements in usage for finger based navigation - are nowhere to be found! (apparently users will need to wait till 2009 for Windows Mobile 7 to get them)

Yes but I'm still gonna complain about it. I should have known MS would do some lame version of threaded msgs. I just can't believe how popular txt msging is there isn't something better. It doesn't timestamp any of my prior txt msgs except for the date and it doesnt count my characters as I am typing so I know when I go over 160 into another txt msg.
Small complaints but still.. So its back to palm threaded for me..

I'm also a big Schaps fan until i flashed to Shadow 2.0 TE, really fast and has minimal problems compared to other WM6.1 roms. Yep, i'm keeping this one for a while because of the "extra speed".

What 6.1 Rom are you using? I'm using Shadow2.0, and i have a time stamp of all the incoming and outgoing messages on the chat window. and whenever i am typing a message, the window title shows the number of characters, e.g. "12/160" which shows the number of characters typed.
Guys,
Thanks for the inputs; no answer yet to the question as to what the menu option "Managed Programs" does?
I'm still researching in general but not found this one yet.

I'm working getting a build together, but am a little out of touch with what's the latest and most popular cab's going around.
If you can, please post or PM me samples of what you'd like a new rom to work with. Idealy they'd be dialpads, comm managers, today screen, etc. I'll do what I can to be sure they work with the base build.
It's currently at 82.74 Storage and 30.18 Program, with just camera 4.0 installed. Testing battery usage and stability...

And a welcome return to the kitchen sir
The file manager dutty (the old dutty) released a while back which is based on GSFinder+ is a great file explorer to use, JJ released the black ROMs for a while with it.
Gimme a sec i'll get the files zipped up.......done
I ALWAYS use it, support for zips and just runs RINGS around the stock file explorer.
Current chefs I like
Are CRCinAU and Abusalza (PDACorner)
I haven't seen any compressed or big storage ROMs that work well with activesync with exchange 2k7.
In my opinion HTC Home is a must as it has the launcher, the weather, the profile settings.
Some people don't like it because of it takes up so much realestate, but I beg to differ because of the features above.
I also would like setaccousticparam.exe to run upon install of a ROM it helps a lot with sound, PDACorner V19 and most of the DVH roms are good like this.
Split MMS, with arcsoft MMS 4.2.81 is also wanted. and of course the 1% battery DLL would be good too.
What I like is storage, stability, and looks, which I am unable to find them combined together! Oh I also like video calling and am a heavy data user.
CRCinAU is coming out with something real special, might worth talking to him. But again, his hasn't got the looks I want, I like nice icons, some sounds while clicking and colours on the task bar, come on it's a 2 year old gadget, let's spice it up a bit! What MS CE OS build are you working with?
As for files, PDACorner has a bunch of cabs that works with most builds these days including CRC's
Further thoughts on naked light roms:
I don't understand why people look for such ROM, as far as I can see your SD Lists are as long as a trip to Bombay! Might as well get them cooked in, the necessities as they are what we all use. I am happy at least with PDACorner with the different things well cooked in, speed and not compromising stability. I am only putting the heads up on the returning chef. Let's face it I am lazy, and who isn't sorting out SD config list compatibilities etc. I like nice icons I like colours on my task bar, I don't like S2U2 at times it conflicts with BT voice commander commands as far as microsoft goes.
Further thoughts again, you guys should stick to one chef, and get them to make things the way you like it and reward the damn chef accordingly. I see people jumping from chef to chef, and yet I see some chefs only make so little from what is considered as a full time job.
These are only my 2c

I like iContact, but PocketCM is ok too.
I generally install UltimateLaunch myself (via Sashimi auto-install), so I prefer a Rom that doesn't waste space with anything else. With that I use TodayAgenda, and other 3rd party apps for weather, etc.
Don't like Big Storage. Also staying away from compressed ROMs.
Do like big Program Mem.
Lately I've mostly played with ROMs from CRCinAu and PDACorner.
Stability and Speed are the most important. Since I'm not a data user, I tend towards the "Lite" ROMs, since I figure most stuff I can install myself (tho I get the impression some things run faster if cooked in? Haven't unravelled that mystery yet).
For Comm Mgr I am not too picky.. however its nice to have a ROM where either a) the CommMgr has a vibrate button or b) push-and-hold on the Comm button toggles that (yes I can install after, so not a big deal)
For dialer, the bigger the buttons, the better, and easy access to call-history and contacts list (recently there has appeared an infinitely un-useful IMO
screen when you "hide keypad" before making any call.. seems to be more a function of the ROM than the dialer tho...)
Looks are nice.. function is better.
Any task manager is welcome.
matt isn't this for a naked ROM for the kitchen that you use to do where we can install cook our own apps in? If so then theres no need to have HTC home or any other crap loaded as you can cook it yourself.
ANYWAY matt I'm glad to see you back and can't wait to try out the kitchen with new ROM..
here are some cabs..all of these work with the latest 6.1 ROM's
Don't forget Call Firewall. Personally I use Total Commander instead of File Manager, but that's personal taste. I'm not a fan of the S2(fill in the blank), and definitely not a fan of any menus with large fonts.
Would also like to have a theme where the top/bottom bars are glossy black, and just a plain black background (not the diamond background)
Thanks for the feedback and especially the files!
After I'm sure it's good and stable, I'll open the "pandora's box" and get a new kitchen setup for the masses.
Most of my old OEM Packages are outdated, so there's lots of work to do to get new ones built from around the site.
realty clean clean latest build AKU 1.3.3 (no MMS, NETCF,office, HTC Home) compressed with big storage will be very welcome
the minimum files in windows folder the better

Agreed..
I think some people think your actually like making a full ROM or something which is not the case. For those who don't know he makes a very clean naked ROM and releases with the kitchen and OEM packages so you can COOK your own apps in and make it the way you want.
So it might save some time and not ask for a bunch of apps cooked in..Provide some cabs and maybe there will be an OEM version of it.

Well here go my 2 cents
¤ NETCF35 [Definetly...!]
¤ Samsung Time [Instead of that awfull thing that takes out half of your screen space...]
¤ Network Wizard [The automated one. Dunno the release...]
¤ MS Office 6.1 [Latest version with OneNote and OneNote correction]
¤ PIM Backup V.2.8
¤ Schap's Advanced Config V.2.1.0.0 [That's a must]
¤ Call Calendar [A VERY usefull tool/add-on]
¤ MagiCall or Call Firewall
¤ TCPMP Media Player V.0.81 RC1
¤ Regedit Merlin
¤ Personalizer 2.0 [To change the displayed carrier name]
Please find below the Rapidshare link pointing to a RAR file conaining all the above mentioned applications.
¤ Kevlar-Source to XDA Developers ¤
Hope my opinion serves some purpose
Cheers.

Yes it does. I've using it for a week now and works perfectly.
people here says right things, but few corrections. htc home, snaps tools, and .net3.5 difenetly must be included. as for me no need to include ms office and mms. maybe you need to include dutty task manager, and sort of comm manager which allow to use 10- buttion stile. and personal reqest from me - cab whith dialpad, I'm from ukraine - so english dialpads not for me. and if you provide cab I will translate it by myself.
you doing great things - wish you inspiration, and if you need some photoshop work with rom - my icq in profile, will help whith pleasure.
