Esmertec Jbed security messages WM6.1 ? - HTC Excalibur

I've installed the 6.1 Kavana ROM (GREAT JOB!!!), and now I'm trying to setup opera mini so that I can access directly and not have to answer the 2 security messages each time using directions from TalynONe at http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...ed-includes-info-new-java-midlet-manager.html .
I've got the icon setup and that part works, though I'd like to change the icon if possible so that it doesn't appear the same as the Java icon.
But I don't seem to have the \windows\appdb\selector.utf directory path so I can't edit the file as outlined. Is this because the Jbed is part of the ROM, rather than a seperate install? Could I find and edit this somewhere else on the phone?
Also, when/if I get all of this working is it possible to change the phone to open URL's via the mini-opera by default rather than using the sluggish PIE?
Thanks,
Tim

Now that I have mini-opera setup as the default browser, I'd really like to bypass the Jbed security warnings per my post above? Any ideas? - Tim

The files are under \Application Data\JavaDB
However, even when you replace the "selector.utf" file in that directory, it still doesn't work. I even tried to install a previous version of the Jbed setup (which did create the "AppDB" directory), but that still didn't work.
I'd like to know the answer as well.

Okay, now that DaMilky helped me locate where the selector.utf file is, I tried the modifications at the link noted above, even downloaded the fix.zip file so that it could convert the file. But it doesn't work, still get the security warnings. :-( - Tim

Trugl figured it out.

[WM5] MMS Client Inside WORKING! [Updated - Bugs fixed]

Update: The v2 resolves the "cannot add video track" with the camera app and the crashing with .3gp files.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Blueangel/WM5_ArcsoftMMSv2_From_Universal.CAB
Well it works, you need to have the second patched version from mamaich, and do a softreset after installing the cab..
For people with other devices just follow the instructions bellow..
----- OLDER STUFF BELLOW -----
Ok, here are the files
Unzip windows to \windows
My Documents to \My Documents
Then go to the messaging application if you don't have a mms folder create a new account with dummy users etc at the end on the type choose MMS (this is a hack and you should only have one account of this type)
Configure your mms as normal and your set to go..
There's some extra files that hymalaia users don't have, so when you are copying \windows you don't need to say yes to overwrite (but the files on the zip are newer than the ones on our BAs)
Bugs:
1) When you try to add a .3gp file or view a folder with .3gp files it crashes.. (I have overwriten my \windows files, you can try not to do that and see if it gets better)
2) You can't add a photo directly from the camera
If you get an error about buffer overflow just replace rcdll.dll with rcdll_original.dll also on the rars.
Update: Replace rcdll.dll from \windows with the one in rcdll.rar (After you install all the other rars)
Update: Install the .reg FROM MMS.rar and not from the other rars, using a registry editor (kilmist or tre work fine)
Thanks for the files. I have a few of questions though:
1. Have you managed to send and receive MMS using the registry setttings you posted?
2. Does everything message realted still function properly after putting in the registry settings?
3. Does it work like the old ArcSoft MMS client for 2003?
4. What do you mean by "there's something missing"?
Thanks in advance.
By something missing i mean that it doesn't work and theres more stuff needed :>
Ok, got it. Thanks again
Sorry, just curious on how you extracted the files and the registry settings. You think its still as before where it comes as a CAB in the extended ROM, and you think you can get the CAB file itself?
I got the files from a user at universal forum, and they don't have a way to open the extrom
Ok we have MMS working at Himalaya and at Blueangel
But there's some problems with the icon resolution, as soon as i patch all the dlls i'm going to post the files

Same here, don't work even with the new reg file ...
Have you checked that the registry is changed?
The same for me... I have followed the instructions but when I wanted to create an MMS account and went through the wizard nothing "visually" changed. But apparently, the account exists somewhere inside because when I wanted to create another one (with the same name) thy wizard warned me that the account already exists... Any ideas...?
Remark: When I used the kilmist regedit I noticed that the default values (marked with @) weren't imported. I had to enter them manualy as REG_SZ values with 'Default' name... Could be that a problem...?

Do you see the Menu->MMS Configuration?
The only thing that changes when you add an account is that at the end you choose MMS instead of POP3 or IMAP (at step 5) fill something at the other steps, they aren't used
No... No at all... The menu doesn't contain such item...
Removed: see first post
Ok. It works... Thanks a lot for help. Because I did not see any MMS accounts previously I created two different MMS accounts... Is there any way to delete one of them...?

[NEW] Kaiser HTC Home v.2.0.720719 BW and Color

OEM supplied by Schaps. This version already integrated in his last ROM.
Not like previous version, this version Profile Tab already work correctly. No need to do anything. I have use it for several days and I dont notice any notifications queue issue or wild vibrate at all.
But I do change the following:
-Installation directory change to \HTCHome instead of \Windows
-To get Brightness shortcut working, the same patch as previous version applied.
-The same patch applied to enable the Tab Setting through registry.
Other than that Nothing. Much better version than v1.5
Color version uploaded!!!!
If you are ROMcooker, download the htchome.dll for rom cooker .
Install sdkcert.cab if you have not done so.
There are about 100 pages of discussion about v1.5. Lets not repeat what have been discussed over there like: Clicking left most mail icon will take you to MMS, how to change music tab tolaunch HTC Audio Manager, and so on and so on. I dont plan to follow up closely on these thread as I think this version is very good already. Should there be any fix, change, etc please refer to the respective post.
Enjoy
Is this better than the one you had released with your kaiser skin?
Currently i am using that, is it worth me updating?
Thanks
Bennec, the one you are using is v1.5.xxxx. Very earlier and uncomplete version that has been tweaked to make it reliable enough to be used. This version is a new build with the profile tab working and additional features in the contact tab thatenable you to select what number ina contact for the speed dial. Definately worthed.
Can you post a version where the files do go in the windows directory? I want to cook this in, but not have duplicates.

you can, just use windiff on the SYS and OEM folders of your kitchen, the dump folder is created by processing these 2 folders, so any file dups will be in there BEFORE you run buildos.exe.
add you package, then run windiff ont he SYS and OEM folders, it will find the file duplicates, and delete the ones that ARE NOT from your new package!!

Maybe I should have been more clear.
When creating a rom, all files will be placed in the windows directory, if you need files in a different directory like the cab posted above you will have to use initflashfiles which just copy the files to a new folder, then you will have duplicates. I just don't want 2megs of photos in two spots.
Garphical Anomolies
@schen you need to swap some of the icons for my fixed ones!!
please Download this Original Icons Fix and add it to you package. 2 of the black and white icons (Music and People) dont react properly when you select them.
that link fixes them!! (it is not just yours, it is a common problem with all htc home plugins!!!)

Your question makes no sense then!
When you COOK this in obviously you would remove the version you already have in the ROM therefore you would not have the duplicates.
Also if you just created an package out of the cab above you will get NO initflashfiles therefore the package will install to the windows directory!!!

You still don't understand. My problem is NOT buildos failures. I don't want duplicates when the rom is complete. Any time you use a initflashfile you will have duplicates in the finished rom. That is what they are for. Again the problem is not with duplicates in the OEM and SYS. If you go back and check my posts you will see I helped you with this exact problem. I know how to create a rom!!!! What I don't know how to do is edit the dll file to redirect it to look in the windows directory for the png files. Hence why I'm posting.

Yes you do get a initflashfile that copies all the png files to HTCHome. See attached.
schen, installed & everything working fine, except for one, am unable to use the hardware navigational pad when accessing music tab, from there u can't proceed to go up, go to ff, rw or play button.
Touchscreen function (for all of the above ff, rw & play tabs) in music tab is working though.
thanks anyway.

Well then my answer to your question would be to remove the initflashfile, then everything would get installed to the windows directory and since you have no need for shortcuts, this would be fine!!!

Just tried that. It doesn't work without the png files in the HTCHome directory. I guess we can't have everything.
The special dll for installing n Windows directory uploaded. Use that dll.
On the subject of weather plugin.
I am not sure why is there a need for a pre-configured xml file. Anyway, you need a gui to choose the city. Why not have a gui where you could enter the data which is stored on xml file. I suppose rather than sending an entire xml line when communicating with xml service, build an xml file base on the data entered via gui.
As I understand it, the DLL was just edited using a hex editor as \HTCHome and \Windows has the same number of characters, it sounds like it wasn't a decompile thing or something like that.
I'm not at home at the mo so I can't check but if you load the DLL up into a hex editor (winhex?) then replace all the \HTCHome text with \Windows, you should be good to go.
This is just my uderstanding though of what I've read in the previous....saga
Smiffy.

Kavana WM6.1, Esmertec JBed, and Opera Mini: A Complete Solution

Hello everybody,
I've figured a few things out regarding JBed and Opera Mini on Kavana's latest WM6.1 ROM, and I thought I'd share them with you.
Introduction
First off, a quick introduction: Opera Mini 4, a Java MIDlet web browser, is arguably the best browser available for Windows Mobile. It routes traffic through Opera servers, so it doesn't take as much data (or time) to browse the Web, and it has small-screen rendering like iPhone's. Slashdot, for example, loads in seconds under OM, as opposed to half an hour in Pocket IE. Esmertec JBed respects the system's network settings, so it works with the T-Zones $5.99 internet trick.
JBed isn't perfect, though. It has a few glaring issues: network access permissions, inability to use a MIDlet as a systemwide default browser, and ugly fonts. I haven't figured out the last one yet, but the first two are solvable, and here's how.
Network Access Permissions
Most tutorials for fixing this problem refer to the file \Windows\AppDB\Selector.utf; editing this file and replacing the text
Code:
domain=untrusted, \
with
Code:
domain=tckmax , \
fixes the problem under Cloudyfa's JBed. The version of JBed in Kavana's WM6.1 stores its data in \Application Data\JavaDB, and the selector.utf trick doesn't work. The culprit is a missing file named policy.utf, which defines tckmax. I've attached a copy of this file; just move it to your \Application Data\JavaDB directory and the selector.utf trick will work as usual.
Systemwide Default Browser
First off, you can make it easier to access Opera Mini by changing the short_IE.lnk file to open OM instead of PIE. I've attached a version of that file for your convenience; copy it to your \Windows directory and the IE (or T-Zones) button will open a usable browser for a change. This only works if OM is the first MIDlet you've installed; if you have installed other MIDlets you'll have to edit the shortcut (Notepad works nicely) to reflect the change. If OM is your second MIDlet, change s0_ to s1_; third, s2_; and so on.
Also, various MortScript scripts have been floating around that attempt to automate the process of copying a clicked link to the system clipboard, opening OM, and pasting the link into the address bar. I haven't found one that works, but a much better solution is available. The linked post contains a CAB file (which I've reposted here for convenience) that installs an actual application that works well under WM6.1. This one is hardcoded with the assumption that Opera Mini is the first MIDlet that you've installed.
One Other Thing
I recommend backing up your \Application Data\JavaDB directory once you get everything working; you can simply copy it back from your backup after a cold boot to get everything working again. I don't know how to make a CAB file myself, but if someone is up to the challenge, I'd suggest making a single file that installs Opera Mini and the Opera Mini Default Browser application, and optionally replaces the PIE button with OM. Or maybe Kavana can add this to his next ROM
Hope you find this useful!
EDIT: The application I've attached only works if Opera Mini is the first application ever installed under JBed. If you uninstall it and reinstall it, it will get a new suite number. You can look at your selector.utf file and figure out your suite number (e.g., s1_), but I would recommend clearing out your \Application Data\JavaDB folder to reset your suite numbers. Also, it may be a bad idea to edit your selector.utf file in Notepad; a hex editor should avoid corruption issues.
~truggl
awesome! thanks!
very useful, thanks!
Great Job!!
How do you tell what the s number is for the OM midlet?
When I press the short key cut key I get a "Could not find suite s0_" error message. When I dismiss the message I get the jbed midlet manager window which list Opera Mini and it's the only applet listed. I click on that and Opera Mini opens up.
Perfect, the policy.utf file did the trick. I'm not so sure that I want to replace the iexplore shortcut to OM because there are still some limits to the OM applet over PIE. OM can't launch youtube for example.
Thank you ... thank you - Tim

Yes, it will depend on how many java programs you installed before so that you can get an accurate count.

Opera is the only java app that I have installed and I still get the error, however, I have installed and uninstalled a few times... so I think there may be .db remnants that force it further down the "install list" e.g. s2_
edit: just had to clean up \\application data\javaDB, works fine
Hi all,
Glad I was able to help. I added a bit of information to my original post; I recommend starting with a blank slate, so to speak, because OperaDefault.cab is programmed with that assumption. When in doubt about your suite number, and if you don't care about OperaDefault, then you can look in (or post) your selector.utf file and get it from there.

Esmertec jbed
Can someone point me to forum where i can get esmertec jbed?
I'm looking for a couple of hours already.
Please help....
Having a very strange problem with Opera Mini 4. I'm using Ricky's Rom V5 with my Dash and Opera will not display fonts correctly. They all seem to have horizontal lines going through them and appear to be slightly stretched (that could be my imagination though). I checked the Jbed version and it appears to be the latest one (I never changed it) and I'm not sure where to go from here. Opera boots and runs fast but it's not legible at all. Any suggestions as to what I can try? I searched XDA but couldn't come up with anything. Thanks,

NOT TRUE.
I tried to use from s0_ to s4_, nothing worked....
Untill i opened my selector.utf(windows\appdb) and seen that gMail is "root=s-1_", so i've change my shortcut to point to "s-1_", this did the trick.
Thanx.

I have been working on this little mortscript for a while now, constantly updating as I find more things to add. It has been one of my most valuable and timesaving tools which I cook into all of my ROMs. It allows a user to backup many items which you would have to input and change manually upon first boot. This saves me a LOT of time as I flash a new ROM just about daily. It also has the ability to autorestore all items if cooked into the ROM. I am not a programmer, so if anyone is interested in turning this into an actual program rather than mortscript please let me know Also, I am no mortscript wizard, so if anyone would like to have at the original to make it better go for it This software will create a folder in root of Storage Card named "Phone Backup", so it may not work if you do not have a Storage Card (does not support localization currently). Also, take note that although I use this quite frequently I do not guarantee it to work fully for you. I will try to work with you to find solutions when possible.
Without the help of Noonski, and many others this script could not exist. So thank you very much
You might be thinking "What do I need this for if I can use SASHIMI or UC or any of the other available autoconfig programs?". This app is not meant to be a replacement for any of these programs, rather it will work hand-in-hand with most of these to backup and restore items easily that you might not think about. It will also autoload manila in 6.5 ROMs and load your prefered wallpaper, weather, program tab preferences, and much more.

Mortscipt 4.2 or newer may be required although it does use a mortrunner which should be able to run the file just fine as far as I know.If you find this software useful, consider a donation to motivate the author to improve it

Changelogs and planned features:
Planned Features:
-Add xml writer such as MAKISU to allow easy backup of Email accounts, Wifi, and Bluetooth
-Add any software requests
-Add some sort of localization so it can be used in non WWE ROMs
-Allow user to select files to backup
-Allow user to select reg keys to backup
-Possibly allow user to choose backup destination
-Possibly compress backup files
-Possibly convert to program with skinnable UI
All Previous Changelogs(most recent will be in post #1)
UPDATE: 10-22-09 FlashBack 0.6
-Added program tab backup and autorestore
-Added MySpace profile(Microsoft MySpace)
-Added some more Game and Software items
-Added Zensor autorestore and autoload(autoload still needs some work)
UPDATE: 8-27-09 FlashBack 0.5
Uploading latest package from my kitchen. I will put together a cab soon, but for now you can use the flashback script from the package and overwrite original
Changelog:
Made some minor modifications as well as some optimization to reduce errors when restoring.
-Added Wifi Locations backup under software
-Added double check for manila autorestore. This way if you have non manila ROM It will not try to load manila.
For this to work correctly you need to add the following lines to your manila app.reg:
Code:
;FlashBack support
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FlashBack]
"ManilaExists"=dword:1
NOTE: Make sure to disable weather restore or delete the database when switching manila builds
Still taking further requests and hoping for some help from the real mort pros
UPDATE: 8-3-09
-Some fixes for missed lines
-Fixed G-Alarm(misspelled something causing no backup)
-added Facebook backup(not fully tested)
-added world clock cities
-Changed backup of manila files to use INI
-If you have cooked an older version into your ROM, be sure to use the newest FlashBack to backup Manila data again. The new AutoRestore script relies on the new INI files.
-Any more software requests?
UPDATE: Huge update.
Added:
-more personal settings(Buttons)
-Tools*
-Manila Wallpaper and Weather(tested .png and .jpg wallpapers)
-Made a package which will restore all saved settings when cooked into ROM.
-Added option to Auto restore. Auto is enabled by default. Look under tools.
-Added support for some builds of Opera
-Added option to Auto load Manila after Flash as oposed to "Windows Default" AKA Titanium. I prefer Manila, so if you enable the option and its cooked in you can have it right after flash.
-Prepared for adding program registrations
Check it out and let me know if it is all working for you. Please note that I will not be held responsible for any loss of data(should that somehow occur, but dont know how it would). Attaching Visual Package and cab. Legacy package will come soon. Edit: Legacy is here, but not sure if it works as I dont use legacy. Please report back for others.
jmckeejr
EDIT: The "RestoreAll" mortscrpt in packages has an extra quotation mark on line 29. Remove the first one before cooking. Should look like this:
Code:
regwritedword("HKLM","Software\FlashBack","Finished",1)
as opposed to this:
Code:
regwritedword([B]"[/B]"HKLM","Software\FlashBack","Finished",1)
This is not a needed step, but it is to double check that Restoreall does not run more than once. There is provision in the script for it to delete the link from startup as well.
Another note: Some features still need some more work to function properly. This is all trial and error as I have to find all the appropriate keys for each item. Some have more than one key which needs backed up. Thanks for trying FlashBack
UPDATE: 7-27-09
After some more work with mortscript(and some help from Noonski, thanks bud) I have put together another backup script which backs up personal info such as :
-Bluetooth Partners
-Wifi Networks
-Owner Info
-Volume
-Rings and Alerts
-Backlight settings
It is still a work in progress, but figured I would put it out there for testing and also feedback on what else to add. Noonski showed me the command lines needed to export and import reg, so now it is just a matter of adding the correct keys. I am learning as I go, so bear with me here. Feel free to test this script and add feedback here. If you are skilled with mortscript feel free to take what I have and make it better. Here is the zip with a cab(which has the script, an exe with icon and dotfred's taskmanager to import the keys). I also included the script and exe to make it easier for others to add or change things. Thanks for trying it By the way I call it Flash Back because I flash so manyt ROMs and I just want my info back in an easy way
Information for cooks (required reading)
Sorry I dont have time right now to add all info, but I will try to add the most important stuff real quick.
-The OEM package will install all files to \Windows folder.
-If you use DotFred taskmanager(known as FDCTaskmanager as well) you will want to have a closer look at this package because the .exe file is already included but renamed to df_taskmgr.exe. You can just edit the app.dat file to add your own shortcut to start menu.
-You can also edit the location of FlashBack shortcut in the app.dat. All updates are taken directly from my kitchen, and I install my shortcut to start menu\programs\Tools\Backup.
-There will be a shortcut created in startup folder during cooking
-Autorestore will only run on BootCount=2(to avoid issues with initial customization) and will do a check of reg to make sure it has not already run. There is also a line to delete the shortcut from startup when complete.
-Basically all you need to do as a cook is to include the package that I have provided. I used to have a double check to ensure that manila was present using additional reg key(you will see above in changelog), but have removed the line from the script so it should not be needed. It will check for existence of manila.exe instead.
Known bugs and issues:
Has Email been incorporated into this, or planned for a future release? I'm addicted to flashing, but I need email access, and it's rather annoying to set up 3 accounts every week. Thanks in advance, this sounds like a very useful program.
Nice job!
great, thank you! that is what i was waiting for!
will test it asap and report my opinion.
It's nice to have this application.
can educate on how to correctly install?
I got the error message below
There is no application associated with "FlashBack". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application

Install to device. What language is the ROM? Currently only works on WWE.
re: Email~ I hope to use an xml writer like Makisu(comes w/ SASHIMI). Will be looking into it when I get some time. Same will be needed for Wifi I think.
Until now, i've been SASHIMI-ING everything including reg keys. this is definately a wonderful addition to SASHIMI.
one problem tho... I just tried to backup some settings and it didn't put anything in the Phone Backup dir (working with a Blackstone on Topix 3.1.1 ROM).

i'm using tess v3.6 topaz wwe...
HAving an error after installing... Says it's unable to create the director "/Storage Card/Phone"
Thats prob because my "Storage Card" is named "Internal Storage"
Is there a way to correct this on my end or is it something you have to change in the script?
UPDATE**
Hope this is ok with the dev, if not - my appologies.
I edited the script myself to make it work with "Internal Storage" as opposed to "Storage Card"
If anyone else has this issue just install from the cab as normal, then copy the Flashback.MSCR file from the attached .zip in this post to your device Windows directory and select yes when prompted to replace the existing file. Should work after that.

Definitely ok. This is as open source as open source can be. There is a lot to be done still, so any help is gladly taken
I will try to get into the details this weekend for cooks and enthusiastic folks who would like to add/change things. Does anyone know of an easy way to add localization? ie if storage card is named as something else, I know some things can use code like %Storage% or something. I would have added something so you could select directories, but the AutoRestore relies on using Storage Card for now. Maybe as I figure mnore out I will do a rewrite and clean it up. There is a lot of repeated entries that I should be able to eliminate with variables. I also still need to add xml restore son nI can get more included.
Well, it created the directory by itself, and it also backed up some files.. like the wallpaper and such, but it didn't post reg keys for some reason. that's the only problem i can see right now.
other than that, wonderful idea, wonderful mechanism. thank you so much

it uses .ini for some manila settings rather than exporting entire reg key (taskmanager wont export value or I cant figure it out)

Well, same problem on my phone it creats folders "phone backup/reg keys" but doesn';t save anything in them and I only tried to backup owner info, rings and alerts and also thumbcal & resco settings. I'm running the latest ver. of MortScript I think it's v. 4.3 b. maybe your scripts were written for the last stable version 4.2.

I have updated first post with Taskmanager package. I had thought it was included in the original package, but after downloading it myself and looking I see its not there. df_taskmgr.exe is a required file and I have added the package to post 1. Have also updated the cab file.
Thanks for the feedback, otherwise I would not have found it.

Latest HTC YouTube Application Cab Creation

I have created a cab for HTC YouTube Application version 2.6.20111727.00 from latest Touch Pro 2 build but when i try to install it i get the message installation was unsuccessfull. Why is that? I created the cab using WinCE CAB Manager.

maybe it needs certs to be installed.
And how can i do that?
Got the same problem and i have certs installed.
I'm having the same problem creating a CAB for my WM6.1 ROM.
The main reason why I want this v2.6.x version to work is that it starts YouTube movies right after you hit a link inside Opera. The 2.5 version CAB does work on my TouchPro2 but does not open the YouTube link. Instead it opens the program and I have to search for a video to view it.
What did I find out so far?
The following file causes the install problem: ProtocolHandler.dll
After you remove this file from the CAB it installs just fine. But the program still doesn't run on my device.
I manually imported all retificates and when I try to start YouTube it shows: " 'YouTube' is not a valid Pocket PC application."
I copied the files myself to the phone memory and imported the registry entries but when i tried to open the *.exe i got the same message.
Where did you find the version 2.5 cab?
I created it myself as it is part of the User Customization of my Cosmik Debris ROM.
Could you upload it?
Here you go....
How can i sign the YouTube.exe with another certificate or none for that matter? Or how can i import HTC certificate?
On 2.6 I used the .CER files from a Kitchen I use. I justed put them on my device and opened them using TotalCommander.
For 2.5 this probably is not nescacary for me since the files are from the Kitchen I use for my ROM. I do have to say that I only use optimized CAB's that work with my Cosmik Derbis ROM. Reason is that my ROM is compressed and stript from a lot of stuff I never use. Therefore I can not guarantee that the CAB wil work on other WVGA devices.
Is this a right place for youtube application, XPERIA X1 ROM Development !!??
No it's not...
How can I open a special YouTube video (with url) with the original HTC YouTube Player 2.6? What is the url parameter? How can I add the "?v=xxx" parameter to the player?
I used a program called Unsigner (and batchUnsign) to remove the certificates from all files but i still get the message:
''The file 'YouTube' cannot be opened.
Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate,
or one of its components cannot be found.
If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.''
So i believe that something is missing from my ROM.
Are any other files needed?
