hello,
im new to this forum and i hope i am posting in the correct area. i have 2 htc8525 pda's. one is unlocked with wm6 and the other is locked through cingular with wm5. i will have the other unlocked and upgraded soon. what i need is some help locating a few parts for the 8525. i have contacted htc directly, including their accessory department and im not having luck. i have downloaded an htc service manual and found the following part numbers and decriptions for what i need. i need two of each of the following and was wondering if anyone knows where i can get them and how much. they are: antenna rubber plug(on the back next to the camera) part number: 76h001167-00m qty. 2 and microphone rubber cover(on the inside of the phone) 76h001151-00m qty. 2.
thank you,
nick
not that you did anything wrong at all, but funny how you know your device is called a hermes but did not see a subforum called hermes. you might be better off looking around there, welcome to the forums

Any plans to add this as a forum for the atlas or does this fall under the wizard category??
WOW........
its the Herald
so anything Atlas/Wing related is exactly as the Herald lol
ANT_C, dont be so hard on the n00bs
thing is if u loook at the sections the herald section all the threads names have wing right in it
First off ANTC I don't appreciate that,
Secondly, I thought this forum was organized by the phone type as listed by HTC (hence HTC Wizard, etc) and HTC I could of sworn was listed as HTC Atlas Anyway thank you for the opne guy who answered respectively and to the other guy, why don't you try some tact.
Oh and at the time of your messege and also right now there is 1 count them 1 whole thread in the first page that says wing. Also I spend (like most users here) my time in the forum of my phone which is the T-Mobile MDA (HTC Wizard). In all fairness it is true I should have looked a little deeper before making this Topic but at the same time making someone feel like crap just because they don't know exactly everything that a Senior Member would know isn't right. It pisses me off about people who do that and it isn't fair. The proper response would have been ''Hey, just to let you know you would have found on a deeper search that it has been filed under the HTC Herald section.'' See how easy that is in comparison?
Oh and ANTC wasn't it me that pointed out YOUR little oversight about 3G when it was supposed to be G3 (folks I am not talking about the 3G network)?
and if this ends now then everyone can get back to working on their phones
Compare a Type-o to missing a whole section...
you didnt even search if you search wing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=2682635
you'll see a thread for the OS dump of the wing
Just for info
Just for those who are interested in the devices and not in the whining...
The HTC Herald is also known as
HTC P4350
Dopod C800
o2 XDA terra
Vodafone VPA compact IV
T-Mobile Wing
The Herald specific forum can be found here
Thanks Gambit
My pleasure...
is there someone know if the HTC Herald's ROM can flash into T-Mobile Wing? thanks
Sprint launched their version of the HTC Touch, also known as the HTC Vogue. This is a different phone than the HTC Elf.
Will Xda-developers start sub-forums for the Vogue soon?
Seconded!!!
Thirding this, a Vogue subforum would be pretty great. It's probably my next phone.
I just ordered the Sprint Tilt (aka HTC Vogue) yesterday and was thinking the same thing.
My Paypal dollars are ready to be donated if someone gets the gps unlocked

Fourth, holding my Touch right now, it's a beauty. I'll also be more than happy to donate and test anything that gets my gps unlocked.
I'm a happy Kaiser (well,Tilt...) user, but my girlfriend has a Vogue arriving tomorrow, so consider this her vote by proxy.
'me too'

Vogue forum please!
I agree that there should be at least one seperate subforum for this. The device has some features and the looks of a gsm touch, but it's much different from an elf on the inside.
yes new forum for CDMA Touch please. it is a great phone i just switched from the p4000 and am not looking back.
Any love on this front?
Yes new Vogue forum please!!!!
Recent ruling.....could this help??
Yes please consider a new Vogue forum.
This was a result of a recent lawsuit.
Sprint said it will share the unlocking code with all current and former subscribers once their phones are deactivated and their bills are paid. The company also will add information about the locking software and how to obtain the unlocking codes in the list of terms and conditions of service given to new customers, and instruct its customer service representatives on how to connect a non-Sprint phone to the Sprint network.
I plan on getting the Vogue if it can be modified and have programs loaded into its rom. Otherwise I would just get the T Mobile wing. Any suggestions?
Any love on this?
Well, until XDA Developers does something about it, PPCgeeks.com has a pretty good forum
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=48
Even though it says it is for the HTC ELF, it is almost nothing but HTC Vogue/Sprint Touch talk. In fact, someone just posted a ROM unlocker and supposedly, there is going to be a custom ROM posted very soon.

I was just about to PM a moderator about this to.
Not only are the phones coming available.
Also some roms for these phones are popping up in the ELF threads.
I extracted some of these but there's big (Small actually, just the Pagepool and rom Size) differences and i foresee a lot of people trying to flash them anyway. Resulting in phones that run out of memory in no time.
And to be totally honoust i haven't seen a lot of Moderators popping up in the Elf threads to.
The Elf's grown up. It's getting pretty busy. Just now it's finishing second in Users viewing posts right now. After the Artemis, that has a lot more experienced users. And i won't see the steady band on elf thread jumping to a new Touch version anytime soon.

Not that I am completely in the know or anything, but I would figured that the Radio Rom would be different since the ELF is GSM and the Vogue is CDMA. Also, the chipsets are different. I wouldn't think that either phone's rom would run on the other.
After we purchased the T-Mobile Compact III, they told us that it would not switch to english. Now I am here and being flooded with Too Much Info. Could someone help out a poor sucker get this thing backed up, reflashed with an english version and maybe find a free GPS program? The only thing keeping me from running some of the stuff that I have found is backing up my current ROM. I want to be able to put the T-Mobile ROM back on the thing just in case....
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and probably by many service members here in Germany who will soon end up in my shoes.
Maybe my question was not clear....
I may have not stated my question clearly. I am looking for the T-Mobile German ROM that comes with the T-Mobile MDA Compact III here in Germany, or a way to back up the ROM on my Artemis...
I want to have the factory ROM on hand in case I have to reflash it back to original config... Once I have this or back it up, I can flash which ever rom I need. I do not want to end up with a brick that I cannot try to return to the original config.
Any help would be appreciated.
Growing Pains
Well, I have flashed my MDA with several ROMS to see which one my wife likes best. Risky, I know, but ya gotta please the missus...
I was disappointed that the WiFi was disabled in the german models, as it would have saved alot of money for us... O2 Germany's MDA's are WiFi enabled I found out today.
I am also disappointed that the GPS is very hard to get working. T-mobile cannot explain how to do it, and I am making that my next project.
For those who read this thread and decided that I was wasting space, sorry. I have read through about 45% of all artemis threads over the past 48 hours and my brain is thoroughly scrambled with TMI.
So far, Artemis Touch full version is the one that my wife likes, and I like it too. We tried the O2 ROM, but it is not compatible with the T-mobile network for some reason...(lol) Since I am still new, I have not learned how to flash a ROM using an .rar file yet, but with more thread reading I should be able to learn this as well.
BT Rom would not flash either, stating that it was the wrong model number. Found that in a thread as well... Next up... GPS...
Hey guys,
I just bought the HTC 8525 (old hardware I know), but it's a start considering this is my first PDA. Anyway, it is currently running Windows Mobile 5, and I would like to upgrade to WM6, because I am finding this quite difficult, for numerous reasons. Number 1, I basically have no idea how to do this, and number two the links that I have found that supposedly have the update for my phone are broken.
To make things clear, I am not asking for a direct answer. I am asking for the resources to learn how to update to WM6 if possible.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Seems like no one is interested or did you get answers elsewhere. I have same question.
I am not familair with that hardware but my staring point would be the XDA-Wiki, if that fails then google and hopefully another forum, maybe even another language...
Good luck
can anyone please tell me where I can download the WM6 for my Imate Jasjam & if anyone can tell me what is the max storage card i can install on this device
Find Imate JasJam in device forums and take it from there. Always a good idea to look around before asking inane questions.
Same problem here
I have 2 Jasjams with WM5 and one previously updated Jasjam with Telstra WM6. Reason I have having 3 of them is that I am electronics technician with 20 years experience with repairing all sorts of hardware.
My original Jasjam had a screen whiteout problem which I have partly solved by swapping parts between those machines. I will report about my repair on this forum later.
Now I just need to find a suitable ROM to update those two Jasjams. They are all Herm100 and two have Vodafone NZ ROM's.
I have spent too many nights and going nowhere with ROM updates so I would appreciate help. I have been looking everywhere, downloaded couple big files with slow connection with poor results. Rapidshare links do not work for me, might have something to do with location here in NZ or the fact that I do not want to pay huge money for Rapidshare membership and still not guaranteed to find a solution.
If there is anyone willing to help me please, I am not a software expert so I just need a working link to a site where I can download a new WM6 or WM6.1 ROM.
I did manage to find a ROM from Club I-Mate site but found out it was WM5 after installing it to one Jasjam and it blocked out Telecom NZ frequencies. So that was unexpected downgrade!
I would be happy to donate if I get my phones working and I am sure I can contribute to the site as I have a few tricks on my sleeve for diagnosing those faults like screen whiteout.
