i apologize if this is the wrong forum for this. has anyone had any success trying to extract the myfaves today plugin application from the wing/herald? i want to put it on my 8525. i dumped the .bin file from this thread and copied all the 'myfaves*' and 'my5*' files to the /windows directory and ran the myfaves .exe file and still no luck. there is even a myfaves service that i enabled and still no luck. i dont have much experience here. can someone lend a hand?
anybody??? .....
Sorry for bringing back an old thread but i am curious if this has been done yet?
I'm interested in this as well.
From what I read on another thread. It can't be done but also not necessary. You can have my Fave 5 without having a my fave 5 phone. You can Check or Change yoru 5 via logging into tmobile account and changing it online. Having the My fave 5 app on your phone is only convient to Change it from your phone. No Big deal seeing that you can only Change it once a Month Anyway
Download Opera 9 for PC and import favorites on desktop then sync with opera online, then load up Opera Mini 4 on WM5/6 and sync favorites.
You can also sync fav's w/activesync for iexplorer. Opera 8.65 for wm5/6 will import your iexplorer favorites also.
Good luck
Chris
see this thread to get myFaves working on your phone. I have it working on my unlocked Tilt now...

do you have TMobile or AT&T
Apparently that cab that was made was missing some DLL files ... so I corrected that problem... here's the fixed cab...

I have T-Mobile. the only reason my phone says AT&T is because I actually work for an AT&T authorized retailer, and I don't want customers seeing T-Mobile on my display. and thanks to the Personaliser cab I am able to do that.
I'll give it a try. The last thread posted before the CAB link led to a package that kept crashing on my 8525.
Okay I installed the cab file on my 8525 and it works, but it crashes after a minute or so. It maintains fine on my Today screen, but when I'm trying to edit the profiles of my MyFaves contacts it reports that the application had an error and needed to close.
I managed to get everything updated quickly between crashes, but the application works though.
I'm still running the stock ROM that came with the phone when I got it a couple days ago:
ROM version: 3.57.502.1
Radio: 1.48.00.00
WM6 version: 5.2.1437 (build 17944.0.3.1)
Anyone know of a good, stable, and fast cooked ROM for the 8525 that they would recommend, could you send me a PM with a link?
which one did you install? The first version posted was missing DLL files ... which i added here http://rapidshare.com/files/94439605/MyFaves__dD_.cab.html
See if that works? I dont have myfaves on my plan, so I've never used it.
I installed the link you just posted and its doing the same thing on my phone.
UPDATE 2/26/08:
I updated my phone with the latest AT&T 8525 standard release:
ROM version: 3.62.502.3
Radio version: 1.57.07.00
WM6 version: 5.2.1622 (Build 18128.0.4.4)
I reinstalled the MyFaves cab and it works beautifully! It appears my previous ROM image was pretty horrid - had issues with GPRS/EDGE and auto-switching to WiFi all the time. Now I don't have those issues, and it runs sooo much quicker.
I have upgraded my Rom to ver 1.28.0.0 WWE. I then added the T-mobile UK customisation cab to get all the correct settings back.
Everything went smoothly and the device is working like a charm for the last week now.
A friend of mine sent me a MMS yesterday and it crashed my device. After doing some investigation i found that the reason may be that under my messaging accounts i only have text and outlook, no mms.
I.e when i go into the inbox then click tools-options i don't have MMS there.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Funny you didn't just look Here first.

Actually i have already gone through that. The instructions from T-mobile won't help as i don't have the option of MMS in messaging under tools-options.
Screenshot of Accounts:
Another screenshot. Hope you know understand the problem:
Ahhhh, yes I do see your problem now. Odd as an MMS account appears to be part of the ROM and not a user configurable option, you may need to have to enter the settings, but it's actual presence is not optional.
Where did you get this upgraded ROM?
If you hard reset and do not run T-Mobile customisation cab do you get a blank MMS account?
P.S. Why not upgrade to WM6?

The rom is the PDAMobiz rom on the ftp. I installed the T-mobile original rom and it came back. But then installed the PDAMobiz rom again and lost it again.
Hard reset without the T-mobile customisation cab before too. But that still did not work. It must be in the rom? Anyone know how i can get it back without having to change rom, as i like this PDAMobiz rom a lot. Its so much faster then the T-mobile rom. Makes a world of difference.
???
BTW. My device is both SIM and CID unlocked in case that should make any difference..
Personally I'd just upgrade straight to one of the WM6 ROM's available on this site.
WM6 is faster than WM5 by default, there is a PDAMobiz version if you are particularly after theirs.
I have Bepe's original WM6 WWE.
I'm not sure I see the value of upgrading to a ROM that is essentially out of date now. Especially as that ROM appears to be faulty in regards to MMS.
Thanks Gajet. I thought id have to change ROM. Guess i was just delaying the inevitable..
Yeah it's a problem with that ROM. I've tried to get it working with no avail. Now, IF you can understand the instructions given to this guy and you can follow them, then you might solve your problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=304706&page=6
I don't understand the instructions and the user did not respond to my PM so...
I know this is an old thread but this happened to me on an Exec a couple of years ago.
I'm guessing it will still be somewhere in the exec forum,
failing that I have two different cabs both of which claim to bring back the MMS folder, although I cant guarantee it works for an orbit but i guess its worth a try seen as the only other option that fixes it is a hard reset.

Edit: You probably meant 'bare bone'

Hi,
outstanding work thanks for this Rom.

OK, as i promised, i was just getting to have fun w/ the supa dupa, and then i see this.
OK! i flashed w/ the ROM 2, it provided me w/ the 77mb free... i didn't want to go crazy and get the 81mb.
But if some has tried please let me know if it is worth it.
Otherwise this is as good as it gets.
I think i was complaining a bit about the sluggishness before but not w/ this. and come to think of it supa dupa was perfect.. i was in fact going to keep it as my ROM, until i read the post.
I'm sorry that this will be your last rom, but your name will go on...
thanks again for all your hard work, and sharing it with everyone,.

i will have another look into it, have you tried the rom with mms built in that should work
mms doesnt work on th rom with 81.20 mb free, just made this one for people who doesnt use mms. if you install palm threaded sms that will replace the one in the rom and therefore get rid of the sms/mms icon in messaging
alright, it's been awhile since i've been here but the last ROM i used was vp3g's v3.62.3 ROM on my ATT 8525. well it works great but here's my prob. it was running a little slow so i decided to try some updated ROMs. Now there was a problem with the build-in keyboard being suck on numeric when trying to use the built-in keyboard while being on a call. It worked just fine with vp3g's last ROM. I tried CRC and Shadow's 6.1 roms and it didn't work so i even tried Schaps latest wm6 rom and it still doesn't work. i don't want to use the on-screen keyboard for long texts messages while in a call, that's a pain in the ass. i can't locate any patches for this issue and i researched and it seems to still be an issue w/ other wm6 roms too. does anyone care about being able to use they're built-in keyboards while on a call to surf or txt? i know i do. i hope others and the cooks read this and understand that is was fixed and it's now broke again and needs a fix again. if i'm over looking something with this issue like a patch or a fix can someone point it out to me?
-raven
Raven,
Currenty, I am running K's ROM v1.30b, and dont have that problem...I was able to use both keypads during several calls - might be an issue with the ROM. Might need to either reinstall or switch ROMs again. (I'm partial to K's and Pay's ROMs)
Pays 6.1 rom has this issue as well... The fix has to be cooked into the rom, as it is a keyboard file that has to be replaced... and supposedly you cannot replace the file via the OS...
i'll try k's rom listed above to see if i have same issue. i really hate using older ROMs but vp3g's as i said was the last one that worked for me, unfortunately. hopefully k's will do the job.
I have used that version of K's Rom and can confirm that it does work. Jumped on the 6.1 bandwagon with Pays and issue is back. I'm actually going to flash back to K's Rom until there is a version of 6.1 with the issue confirmed fixed.

What is it that you need help with? I have a 700wx and would love wm6.1, however, what would be the advantage of flashing to 6.1? and is there an unlocker available for the 700wx?

I'm very new to all of this, so I'm not really sure what the unlocker would be for. There is a way to load custom roms. It's extremely easy. I would like to get the 6.1 rom I have for the 750 on the 700wx, because I want the threaded sms embedded in the rom, and I would also like to get EVDO working correctly. I believe EDVO is not working correctly because of the verizon update. At the very least, I need a way to get it out of the current wm6 rom.
I have been able to add and remove files from the wm6 rom for the 700wx, but I am unable to dump it without errors. I have tried removing all of the files in the rom, and adding the files from the 750 6.1 rom. The rom will flash fine, but then 700wx sits at the bootloader. When I run nbinfo on the 750 rom it shows that it has a boot sector, but the wm6 rom for the 700wx does not.
Like I said, I'm very new to this. My progress so far has been trial and error.
NightRaven said:
I am currently trying to create a WM6.1 rom for the Treo 700wx. I have a working WM6 rom running now. However, there is an issue with EVDO not reconnecting after a disconnect. You have to soft reset the device for it to connect again. It will then run fine until EVDO times out, or you loose signal. I know verizon bastardized there EVDO implementation, and had to release a patch to correct there EVDO issue. I believe this patch was added to this rom, and is causing problems if you are running on another carrier. I'm running on alltel.
I am hoping an unbranded 6.1 rom will correct the issue. However, I am having trouble getting the 6.1 rom to boot after it has been flashed. I will give the 6.0 rom for the Treo 700wx to anyone willing to help. It runs much better than the stock rom.

Before you can flash custom roms to a phone you need to be able to unlock it. Thats why I asked if there was an unlocker for the 700wx, as far as I know there isnt one. I have been searching for one and havent found one as of yet.

The link in my first post is a custom wm6 rom. I was able to successfully flash it to my 700wx. It runs well with the exception of the intermittent evdo issue. All I had to do to flash it, was format my sd card as fat32. Copy the file to the sd card. Take the battery out of the phone. Reinsert the battery while holding the up volume key. The phone displays press up to update rom. Press up on the direction control. The phone will display checking sd card. Then it will show a screen with a progress bar that says downloading rm + bl or something to that effect. After the progress bar hit 100% the phone reboots, and you are running wm6. I never had to unlock my phone. I have confirmed that it works for Alltel, Sprint, Verizon, and Bell 700wx's. I would be really suprised if it didn't work for all of them.
NightRaven:
Interesting stuff. I'm going to have to DL it and take a look.
Couple of questions.
What AKU is this?
Does this have the Palm branded tweaks (IE: threaded messaging)?
Does this have SDHC support?
Where'd you get this ROM? (I suspect I know from where...or maybe I should say from who... )
You might also want to check out what we're doing over on TreoCentral. We have a WM6 ROM that seems to be working okay. I haven't used it a lot as I personally prefer the speed of WM5, but I'll probably start playing with it more at some point.

How did you flash?
I haven't used this ROM yet, but I've used another WM6 Verizonized ROM, and had no problems with my Sprint Treo 700wx.
The WM6 ROM posted seems to be working great on my Sprint Treo 700WX. I flashed using the instructions provided in this thread. I've added the SDHC patch and am now running a 16 GB Treo 700wx!! I'm not getting the digital roaming message, indicated earlier in this thread and everything seems to be working the way it should.

I'm having the same problem. I flashed with WM6 and my phone no longer would connect to a Sprint tower, always on Digital Roaming. Also, under Settings > Phone > Services > Network I only had 3 options. Home, which got no signal at all. And two with the same name (I don't remember what it was now) but with A and B at the end, both of which would only do Digital Roaming.
So, I flashed back to ebag's Final ROM (http://discussion.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=164457) and now my Services > Network options are back to normal, but the Home Network Only gets no signal while the other two are Digital Roaming all the time.
Can anybody help with this? I've tried calling Sprint and updating the PRL, I'm at 20229 right now, but no help. Somebody else suggested I needed to reprogram my MSID and SID, but the MSID is still correct and Sprint says they never put anything in the SID part.
I don't know what else to do now. I'm gonna try real quick to flash back to the Stock ROM, see if that helps.
I'm open to any suggestions now. I've been 2 days stuck on 1xRTT and it's killing me .
I'm using the Alltel branded ROM and it seems to be working fine. I think there might be a little more battery drain than I am used to but that is ok. The ROM is certainly faster that the stock 700wx ROM. I have yet to put many programs back on it but the apps i have installed are working flawlessly (SPB Time, Phone Suite, Mobile Shell, Pocket RAR, Pocket Music, and WMTorrent). The MMS doesnt seem to be working though. I'm not sure if i just need to apply Alltel's settings or what. The fact that MMS is not working is not too upsetting as Alltel phone's have never had it to begin with anyway. Truth be told, it is an excellent port of the popular WM6 OS! Great Job!!!! I would just like to note that EVDO is working perfectly.

The fact that MMS is not working is not too upsetting as Alltel phone's have never had it to begin with anyway. Truth be told, it is an excellent port of the popular WM6 OS! Great Job!!!! I would just like to note that EVDO is working perfectly.

I am still tring to find where the MMS settings are stored in this ROM. I'm sure they just need to be updated, but I have been unable to locate them.
