Best build for a XDA IIs wm200se?

Ok, I'm pretty much getting to grips with my IIs...
I've already upgraded my rom to o2's 1.40242 (up and down just to practice) and I know what I'm doing in so far as editing my registry... but my machine still isn't all it could be.
I've pretty much read the forum upside down, but there are so many options to this and that scattered around in the various threads that that it would take me forever to try them all for functionality, so as opposed to asking for help, I'd like to instead call upon your collective experience.
As said I'm looking to make my machine the best it can be for a wm2003se PDA (not really looking to upgrade to wm5 because 2003 is still the most compatible os out there at the mo), so I'd like your thoughts on the best roms and radio versions based on your useage. (best being most stable and functional (heh, I really like a2dp... but I know the issues).
So... what's your advise?
Thx in advance, all suggestions most welcome (well.... the non-profane ones anyway. )
Finally... big kudos to all the devs,(pro and hobby) you all done some really stunning stuff, this is a hell of a forum. (I'd name them but I'd like to finish this post today.)
maybe you can try he system rom from this progect:
http://sx66-blueangel.home.comcast.net/
also, upgrade your radio to the latest one.
MORE options!... are you purposely trying to give me brain melt?
I might give it a try at some point when it comes out of beta... but for the moment I'm really just going for stability and functionality.
Also you mentioned the latest radio rom.. which (if I'm correct) is the 1.15 version.. but I've read that alot of people have gone back to 1.13.... ho hum.
Thx though.
Any more suggestions, people?
What about suggesting a really nice cooked rom (or baked.. whatever.)
Also any chance of giving me a reason why you would recommend a particular rom over another?
Thx.

no problem man
I'll try the upgrade to radio 1.15, and if it don't go well, i'll change to 1.13.
Anyway, also would like to try out one WM5 release, I am thinking in one clean helmi release.
Also, i've got from one portuguese forum, some interesting files that put the 2003 SE with one graphical aspect similar to wm6. (thats one of the things i'll try.
By studying all those files, maybe one day, we can compile one rom to our needs.
Sounds interesting.. but watch you don't slow your machine down to much.. that's (and compatibility issues) my main reason for not going to new with my os.. all the pretties just bog the system down.
I will try.
also, i believe those new rom's are much faster and stable than the first ones that appeared.
Hey people.. still lookin' for recommendations.

here, the only recommendations we get is this: "screw it alone, we don't like you to do questions"
but for WM2003 there aren't big recommendations. it is already one outdated platform, and all of them are with the eyes on WM5 platform.
the last system roms are based on 1.42.xxx

Szr.. I didn't see that you had replied.
The newest original rom from o2 was the 1.40.242.. I think that the 1.42 is from t-mobile.. do you know if that will work on an XDA IIs?
hi there man. my pda arrived today. i am using the system rom 1.42 and the radio 1.15. i did the upgrade today. so far so good.
in fact i am now posting this message with the blue angel.
cool.
What Pda did you get?
Glad things are going smoothly for ya... same can't be said here.
I'm having a ***** of a time trying to do anything other that transfer files or activesync when using bluetooth.... that's 6 charges I've gone through trying to get thing to work...
Ah well.. still tryin'.

SandStorm.. when you upgraded what bt driver and version did you end up with?
good! I use t-mobile 1-42 with cooked ext rom and the pda smiles me .. until the coming of Ultimate 7150...
hi! well, now I am using helmi wm5. its more stable, btw. I dunno about my bt stack. the other rom I had, was from sx66 standardization.

In the end... why to upgrade to WM6?

Excuse me for the (maybe) stupid question but if you have a pretty good WM5 configured Trinity, what would be the real advantages you can have upgrading to WM6? ...i mean... which are the main reasons to do it?
Thanks for the answers and, anyway, VERY THANKS to mUns and LVSW for their ROMs (without them we would have no choice!)...
the real question is : Why Not ??
why not....
why not is a good answer , but only if you upgrade for your own pleasure to do it , and sometimes you discover that could be better wait. but we'll never admit !!!
.....but, in practice , how many time do we spend to repeat so many times the same activities before to be able to profit of our baby?
we are a little bit crazy.....
I really cannot understand the existance of threads like this one! Each one of us can decide if he wants WM6 upgrade or not! I personally use mUm's SE rom (the greek translated version of ausdim. Thanks mUm and Dimitri) and apart from using the ability to have html capable mail client its real fast compared to the official WM5 release. My P3600 is real stable and I enjoy every use of it!
@ katsj
Your answer is the reason for this tread! I'm not taking a position about upgrading or not, I'm only trying to understend if this is usefull to improove Trinity performances... Thanks for the second part of your message...
Yes there are differences between the old and new crossbow os, and many threads and articles covered the cons and pros of both, now personally I love the speed the wm6 provides, icons, and the other new features wm6 offers. finally it is worth it only if you like changes and trying out new things. But if you start finding joy in the upgrade habit, you could never stop.
cheers
THX taiseer
One more thing! I love the sounds of WM6! There is no comparison to the borring WM5 sound files!

Crazy? I have 14 years of PDA experience. Used over 100 models. I compared WM5 toWM6 closely and these are my experiences. Your mileage may vary. From your cockamamie response, it likely will.

It does sound a bit optimistic, I've never seen anyone else make these types of claims, I mean if this were all true there would be an overwhelming outcry to get WM6.
hehe wonder how one benchmark "*double battery life"

yep, some terabyte of video can solve this doubt...

anyway we all know how is the battery life with the trinity wm5 equipped, then with this tool http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/benchmark/?it we can make some test and comparison...or not?!?

A simple reason is that the innovation has stopped when WM6 came available.
Top #1 Reason for Upgrading: If you don't upgrade to WM6 we will all laugh and tease you about your oudated technology... and you won't be invited to the secret xda pool party for WM6 users only.

Worth Upgrade?

Hermes is no longer produced by HTC...
The closest you can get is TyTn II [Kaiser]...
Have you even bothered to browse HTC's website?

Dude, you also own Hermes. How is your experience is with it.
If i give you a choice between N95 and Imate JasJam. Which one will you select?
for me it's the best device to load many apps, rom flashes (wm6.1 runs great), media, scalability, travel, UI, etc.
good luck

Most of the time battery life depends on type of ROM you use and how much you use it. Some ***** about it, some live with it. Hermes is a mid level phone, if you want more juice out of your phone then go for kaiser!
Or get a bigger battery... I can sooo see someone lugging around their hermes attached to a car battery one day......

MATE, ARE U Serious???
There is a wealth of information on this phone on the XDA site. Use the search function is a great place to start.
I will however play nice
In my experience the Hermes model is a great phone. Note the amount of development still happening in this forum. Not many other phones of this age still command such attention. It has an abundance of connectivity options. The battery life depends on how much you use it as with any device. The Hermes wiki contains the specs of the beast. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes.

I mean to say if you use daily 3 hours Wi-fi and always connected to the 3G Internet service then how long the estimated the battery live. I tried before Nokia N95 and it's battery only last for 2-6 hours in the above stated operations. I am already using PDA2K and happy that it is best phone ever made. but it lacks 3G, HSDPA, and lots more...

Hello, I already read the Wiki but as i stated sometimes real experience is required then reading the wiki. I upgrade my phone every 12 month. But, i don't want to get stuck in something and then looking after to someone who buy it from me. That's why some research and real experience is better then getting stuck.
Thanks for your response.
hmm
My next phone after learning windows mobile would have to be the htc touch pro. As I still like the keyboard function.
As previous posters are saying do your research. Get parallel imported phone from a reputable online seller on ebay or where ever you are.

If you had searched you would have found ...... this quite accessible ... the only ROM that comes with one is .... this ...
But I think you need to do a fair bit more reading and searching before you go ahead and flashing stuff if you think touchflo is a ROM
Hehehe, thanks alot Zocster...Believe it or not, i did actually search and ive been reading alot of posts! Im not 1 of those forum idiots who randomly posts messages without reading anything...
However, i am TOTALLY new to this world! I decided to ditch the trusty old cell phone and move to a pocket pc/pda phone whatever you wanna call it I have decided on a TyTN and am now getting into the world of cooked ROMs and all the stuff you guys know all about

I seeI have an imate jasjam, so yeah you have a front camera I presume you would want to make video calls too then, so may be that ROM i mentioned not for you as it doesn't have video calling dial pad cooked in.
To be brutally honest, Ive had a Sony Ericsson K800i for a year and a half now and have NEVER used the video calling feature Our networks are rather unstable and its expensive, so why bother Im just looking for a fast, reliable ROM

Welcome by the way .. saw it was your second post oh by the way, go the wallabies, even though i live in new zealand! hehe .. and this is for the trinations!
Much obliged Zocster!!!
Thanks alot for your help...I know that forum noobs are often ignored or flamed lol!!!
The problem i have is being a complete newcomer to this stuff...I honestly dont know where to start, I was hoping there would be a poll with "your favorite ROM" or something, then at least id have somewhere to start

Sorry mate, honestly, ... trying it yourself is the only way you can judge, read the wiki, and try out different roms, as i said what is good for me may not be good for you. So go try them all out and make up your mind from experience. I have had my phone for two months and I have been through honestly about 20 or so roms before i made up my mind, each chefs have got their own style and yeah you need to determine what style suits you.
Thanks alot, will definitely do so
One more question...In my research on the P4350 which uses the 200mhz OMAP cpu, i read that there is an app to overclock (and declock) the device, does the TyTN have a similar app??

If you want to keep your device for another couple of years, then no, it is not recommended. it is doable, but it would not be doing your device any favour.
Well since the reviews i read all said the TyTN is powerful enough, im actually more interested in declocking the device when i dont need the power, to save battery life

hmm, you need to try the roms available, and once you get applications such as BT GPS, BT Stereo, MP3 etc going, plus the touchflo extension you mentioned, it ain't all that powerful.
These chefs have done their best to make the most out of a device that is 2 years old. so ... yeah it isn't that powerful, but yes you will determine that when you have run a couple of things on the hermes have fun, ...
Starbase has the cab on his 4shared site. I have had it before, but find it useless, the touchflo that schaps has is better for finger scrolling and quick landscape mode switches however.
Good to see more South Africans here. (From South Africa myself). As Zocster said, just try the roms out. Been flashing my TyTN at least once a week. Just remember to Hard-SPL first.

Glad someone remembered.....
lol thanks guys!!!
Been reading the guides and the wikis, will definitely hardSPL first
first of all make hardspl ! it is the first thing you need to flash into your tytn....what you meen about -toch flo- ? many component may be instaled on any rom. personaly I use 3ppc.net russian 6.1 rom, whith htc home today plugin (one part of tochflo) included. for finger scroling I use ftochFlo, cube not use at all - personaly I found it useless....(anyway - there are some custom cube on 'hacking and developing' section of developers, as for me it much better than original.)
about overclock. sumsung procesors (which use tytn) is wery bad in frequency control. looks like time generator somehow connected whith main frequency - when you changing it, a lot of bugs appear....for example - if you overclocked cpu, you will notice that music/video/e.t.c. will run more fast that it needed. no need to worry about cpu power consumtion - it low anyway for samsung cpu. much more buttary will eat 3g, wifi, backlight e.t.c.

Thank you for everything... Leaving S620 World.

Hello everyone.
First of all, I´d like to say thank you to everyone here. I´ve learned a lot here, and knowledge is something you keep with you forever, no one can take it away. I´m thankful for all the knowledge i got from here. From you!
My device is tired.. It has a few hardware problems that I can´t put up with. I was told that the motherboard is damaged. I can´t afford that change... I mean... I could, but i´m not willing to. I´m moving on to another device. Not sure wich one, but I think that Samsung Galaxy S is a good choice.
Anyway, I will still be around, helping people the way I can, but I´ll be no longer a excalibur user.
Thank you, for everything.
Regards.
Special thanks to:
Mr.Ookba, for his guidance and trust!
Mr.Kavana, for his WM 6.1 (that´s the reason I got here)
Mr.Rickywatt, and Mr.Stylez.
Sorry to see you living. We will miss your great insights. I hope you keep showing here from time to time.
Vamos Maradona!
i miss this device this was a great forum miss developing for it
