My MDA Compact III keeps disconnecting from WMDC.
I am running Windows Vista with WMDC 6.1.
I keep noticing that my device has not synced to my PC. When I open Sync Center its reported as Disconnected.
If I reconnect the USB cable the Device shows its connected via USB but Sync Center still says disconnected.
To get it to work again I have to go into Device manager on my PC and uninstall the Smartphone USB Sync driver. Disconnect the phone and reconnect it. This then forces the driver to be reinstalled and syncing starts again. But after a while it screws up again and will not reconnect.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks, Mark
hey.. even i get disconnected.. exact same thing happens to me as well..
but i never reinstall the driver n all..
i just remove the plug and wait for few seconds or to the max i soft reset my phone and then connect..
it works after that.

Has anyone already seen this or knows how to solve this problem?
My friend has a HTC TYTN2 and after connecting via usb in the pc, the tray icon displays connected, but you cannot sync, cannot do anything. The activesync main windows says it's disconnected. You cannot browse the files from "My Computer" too. So only the tray icon says it's connected (connection established as saw in network connections), but all other windows says that is disconnected. I've tried my Hermes in his computer with the same result. I've already tried an old activesync, the dhcp service is running and firewall is off.
Thanks.
Sorry, I made a really rude comment without reading carefully. My bad.
First, uncheck "Enable advanced network" in Settings>Connections>USB to PC, then reinsert the PPC.
If that doesn't work, with the Pocket PC cradled, check your device manager under network adapters to see if your pocket pc is there. If it is, delete the entry in the device manager. After a short while, the computer should automatically find the ppc and install the right drivers.
Hi,
I cannot get my HTC620 connected to my pc with OS Vista.
The Sync centre cannot find the phone when connected via USB.
Is this a known problem or just me...?
Yeh it sucks, a massive reason to stick with XP and active sync
You can try going in settings, connections on your phone and turning off advanced usb functionality.
Also you can try different versions of device center, here is v6:

And here is v6.1:

Personally I couldn't get either of them to work. I'm pretty sure reinstalling wmdc has no effect on the rndis drivers that the windows mobile devices use to connect. Mine got in an irreparable state some how and wouldn't detect anything.
All this effort to get something working which sucks so bad. Its the worst device sync software I've ever seen, like years behind what active sync was. You'll see everything is a few clicks slower and even the syncing task tray icon is gone.
Bump cause I'm having the same problem. Disabling advanced functionality did not work.
Using windows mobile device center version 6.1.6965
Would love it if someone has found a way to make this work...
what works for me,
if you go into your settings > connections > usb to pc > UNCHECK "enable advanced network functionality"
with that unchecked, it should work!
cheers!
I had this problem and I solved removing, from control panel, WMDC and WMDC update, then rebooting and reinstalling WMDC 6.1 again!
(Unfortunately) I've found the problem but no way around it. I mostly access my PC remotely over remote desktop from my laptop. For whatever reason, wmdc only syncs with the account that is logged in locally. I've tried to get it to sync while connected to the remotely logged in account to no avail. I think this one is on MS to fix...
My Cingular 8525 suddenly doesn't sync with my vista. Whats worse is when I plug in the data cable my PC can't recognize the device and my mouse gets disabled. Is tghis a problem with the phone or maybe with the PC?
I am running dcd 3.2.2 and use Internet Sharing to tether my laptop. I close Active Sync on my xv6800 and have the allow "usb connection" box unchecked in WMDC. My phone is connected to my laptop with a usb cable.
When I tell Internet Sharing to connect, it does. My computer dings indicating that it now sees my phone. Then it disconnects. I look at Active Sync is running again.
If I connect Internet Sharing and immediately close out Active Sync once it starts, I stay connected just fine. But if I don't get Active Sync closed quickly enough, it disconnects again.
What is wrong here?
Hello people
My Desire was connecting fine to my PC yesterday and I could access the SD card but now when I try it says device not recognized. I tried reinstallin HTC sync and driver but same problem and have also restarted PC and phone. Im on Windows 7 64bit.
anyone??
this is driving me crazy
But once you connect your phone via USB to PC, on phone screen it will show 4 items of connections, did you choose the one of storage card??
I'm also having issues with HTC Sync.
It normally connects fine and syncs with Outlook OK. Every now and again (about twice a day) it will show the "charging" icon when plugged into the USB port (on any computer) but not recognise the fact that it's connected via USB. The "connection options" dialog isn't even accessible.
If I reboot the phone it immediately connects and starts working, so I know it's not a PC issue. It's like the phone thinks it's connected via a charging cable and not a full USB data cable even though it's the cable that came with the phone.

I'm having this exact same problem, would rather not have to reboot the phone every time I want to access the SD card via the PC as I do it quite a lot!
Anyone know of a fix? Or is there a way of bringing up the 'Connection Options' dialog as I can't seem to find it anywhere on the phone, only the Connect to PC options which lets you set the default mode it's supposed to go into when connecting via USB
to mark on HTC (setting/connect to pc/ask me), install HTCSync.exe on PC, disconnect all usb cables(including HTC ), to connect only HTC device to PC .... it helps me
if u dont want to have to reboot every time u want usb use USBSwitcher its free app hat mounts the sd on ur pc
still doesnt fix getting to tether/htc sync

Is not this.
Checked or not, when connecting the usb cable, it should show something like "charging only" or "htc sync", but only shows "USB debugging connected".
Just trying to establish some relation between our devices, do you guys have "extended controls" installed?
