Hello all,
I think I'm getting lost in this massive forum known as xda-developers. I believe this forum to be the most comprehensive data on all PDA phones I can find anywhere online. That being stated, I own an ATT branded 8525 and have flashed it a few times with various different ROMs. So much to read and learn, it's like a whole another world out here... just on ROM flashing.
What am looking for is some direction of what should work best for my situation. I legally own allot of professional ppc software I use for my business and I want to use a very stable rom that will run ultra fast. What are some of the top 10 software's that are very stable yet feature rich. I will be tethering my 8525 with a Vaio when on the road using 3G were available.
Thanks in advance for any direction, I really find this forum a very useful resource.
If you are looking for a very clean, stable rom, cry CRC's 11.2, or 12.8 naked big storage (my personally favs)
If you want a less vanilla look, then PDAcorners RBSN rom might be good for you.
If you plan on on using a lot of heavy software you might want to run with a 8meg page pool as well.

Thank you for the quick reply, I will look into these Roms. I think I will end up using the Spb Mobile Shell it seems to be a nice clean interface and I have found some amazing themes on this forum that support it.
Thanks again for the info, so many choices, this info will help.
I am looking for a clean, sleek 6.1 ROM that is close to the official 6.1 ROMs. There are so many out on this forum and I am confused by the choice. Can someone please recommend a good one to go for?

If your looking for a clean rom look for "lite" ones, if your looking for a vanilla feel one stay away from ones with PDAcorners icons, now, read the FAQ/benchmarks/rom lists and chose one.
(Theres a more upto date rom list at the end of the FAQ)
Make sure you flash HardSPL before you flash any custom roms!
Give CRC's stable rom a go. Very fast and has the necessities.
As usual my very best Schap's 4.40 beta
try my naked build in my SIG...20721 latest is very NICE
MRH 8.4
After a frenzy of flashing, I've settled on the MRH 8.4 release. Has what I need, solid, stable, fast, and doesn't suck my battery.
Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you how to get it -- look here for more info.
DVH's lite... try more than one

If your avvy is true, then your a danger to us all
i had a go with MRH Valerian 9.0, but upon seeing how much apps were installed that i'm never going to use, i immediately started looking at others.
i basically need a WM 6.1 rom.
also have to say i was a bit annoyed by the bugs, for example, contacts, the most basic thing of all, did not work because
the file 'randomaccess' cannot be opened
oh well...
am trying the CRC one next, and then maybe the DVHA one, plz keep the recommendations coming, if you know of any basic, stable ROMs without all the extra cruft.

CRC naked BS is fantastic imo.
MRH V9 was based on pda corner, his roms are also good, if you like the graphics.
Tbh.. you wont know till you have flashed them all.

sorry, but i am a noob, the first time i have heard of this random access problem is in this thread. i did not expect to have this kind of problem with a rom that people are saying is stable. but never mind, live and learn...
hmm CRC is definitely more like what i am looking for, but slightly misses the mark, because it lacks Office Mobile. damn, it was close though...

And you will live and learn, there is office mobile if you download the full version, and would prefer if you can keep discussion on certain ROMs on certain thread, gets messy otherwise
Hi Everyone,
Can you kindly share your opinions about the best WM 6.1 ROM out there please ? Is there a 6.1 cooked ROM which comes close to the ROMS Schapps produced ? Personally I would prefer a stable , fast and bug free ROM rather than a glossy one with a plethora of 3rd party applications.
I have tried the Starbase S64 Manilla 2d rom but after a few hours of usage realise that it is not one I could keep for long due to problems with stability , speed and memory usage and several language bugs (German instead of English in Calendar, Maps etc)
Cheers !
the only way
To come up with an opinion is trying every single one, and decide what fits your needs.
We have benchmarks that has been done by Veyka on the sticky. And I have come up with two of my favourites on my signature, until you have flashed every single one (and I may add a good flash takes time) you won't be able to come up with any opinion at all!
Edit also there is an FAQ thread on the sticky.
Cheers and happy flashing!
Flash flash flash and compare, There's not much else to say.
We all do different things with our phone, I like CRC's, other people like PDAcorners, the almostnaked and anryl roms are good as well!
There all good! Just aim for a lite rom if your looking for something empty.
Also dont forget to flash a shipped rom if your going between Bigstorage roms.
please state your favourite
Hi,
If you have tried a few 6.1 ROMS please simply state your favourite. Or if you are just happy with any particular ROM share its identity with us. An exhaustive comparison is not necessary
Cheers.

the exhaustive comparison has been done right here.
Zocster is right, I have flashed many of the roms on this great site and the ones in his signature are top notch. although I really like MRH 8.4 sun shower as well due to its design and fit and finish. every rom is good though and I find it thoroughly enjoyable to test them out.

Ill retread my own work..
Myself, Im a CRC fanboy
PDAcorner if you like the icons
Dvha, good, fast, not always sure what they are upto though!
The newer chefs are as good as the pros in many respects!
Almost naked or Starbase64's new roms have TF2D in them! (Just as easy to cab install though)
Loaded roms are slower.
Bigstorage roms are faster but need more care.
quick question
I havent tried Anyrl roms yet because they are czech only, is this correct?

Okay, before I get yelled at, this is for my wife's phone (8525 on TMobile). She's not technical and likes pretty, and any issues I will hear about over and over and over. She's currently got the official AT&T WM6 ROM (version 3.62.502.3 radio 1.16.00.00).
I was considering joshkoss' colored version here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=461490, but I read about a few issues in it as I wandered through the 200+ pages of the thread.
I also considered http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421337, but there's like 42 versions and I can't even figure out which is the latest (though it said something like v11, but which link).
So anyway, that's what I need. Stable so I don't hear about it and Pretty so that she likes it (and doesn't make me get her a blackberry or iphone).
Also, if someone likes a better Radio, please speak up (I'm in Tampa, FL if it matters).
Before anyone tells me to search first, I have. I've spent three nights pouring over posts throughout the Hermes forums. I know there's no clear answer as to ROM choice, but I'm looking for some input and suggestions.
what i'm using
currently using joshs darkwinter rom, very stable and fast and fairly new, looks nice and does not have any bloat. I am in Lakeland not too far from you and I use 1.47.30.10 for my radio and get very good battery life, if she uses a lot of 3g then I would suggest one of the 1.54 radios.
Why not just install a new gui like SPB shell and find a "pretty" skin for it? Then set up the SPB watcher app so that it ALWAYS is displayed instead of the today screen... That way no flashing involved and she gets to pick what she likes... SPB Shell is a commercial app but its worth the dough...
Cheers...

She likes joshs colored ROM. Isn't it just the eye candy that's different between the colored and darkwinter?
As far as 3G, I wasn't thinking that she had that capability because of it being and AT&T device. I guess since it's Quad-band it has the 1900 MHz frequency that T-Mobile uses for 3G, correct?

The skin is a good suggestion, but it wouldn't really upgrade the rest of the OS. I've got an AT&T Fuze and she loves the interface, so I was kind of looking for something similar. Also, I'm hoping T-Mobile will come out with their Wing2/Touch Pro 2 in July (fingers crossed) and she'll be able to snag one of those. If I threw SPB Shell on the 8525, she'd have to learn that and I probably wouldn't load that on the Wing2.
Sorry guys, Gotta close the thread in an effort to keep the forum clean.. Rom style is all personal preference
Peace,
Josh
wow when some one is coming out with a new rom im getting so bored of 3vo please some is there a new update
Well, 3VO ROM is good, but I cannot use GPRS completely (Google Map, Windows Live Mess, other IM softwares doesn't work). Bluetooth suck, cannot send anything. I've been using ROSE ROM 1.7 remade, (WM 6.1) but really nice. GPRS ok, bluetooth ok. Try that!
i had it before its good but i think that the dash has potential is just the developers are not caring any more about it so i think i might go back to 1.7 from ricky and NRG
there are other 6.5 roms, have you tried them?

you seem to forget that the dash is a 4 year old phone and is not that easy for chefs to come up with new roms. A lot of new roms need much more ram and a faster processor and the dash just can't provide that. be sure when someone does, it will be available, so instead of being upset, be happy of the variety you got.
or just get a new phone like i did, i loved my dash, but i wanted something better.

To which is the reason production on ROMs has slowed down, most chefs have new devices as we all like a faster CPU, more RAM & Storage and a new GUI to play with
