Voice control Bluetooth motor intercom? - General Accessories

Hi everybody,
Hope that someone can help me here with the following:
On my motorbike I have an (Starcom1) motor intercom.
I can speak to the passenger, listen to navigation, listen to music and talk to another motorbike. All fine.
Now I use (of course) WM6 devices. Currently the HTC Cruise.
Before I had it set up via my Garmin Navigator, phone rings, number appears on screen and I can decide to pickup or not.
Problem was that on short rides, it is too much hassle to put the navigator on all the time and I hoped to find a better way to still recieve phonecalls.
SO I paired my phone straight to the Bluetooth box on my Starcom.
The problem is that, according to Starcom, my phone needs to be in autoanswerring mode to be able to use it.
Of course this works but is not exactly what I have in mind. Now it is on autoanswer alll the time or I have to go through long menu's to switch it on and off, if I get away from the bike.
I see two options but have not found a solution:
There is some kind of 'connecting' profile system thats switches to autoanswer when it detects a BT headset or special device.
Use voice commands but I have found I always need to press the button to be able to use this. Would there be a method to answer a call without touching the phone in my pocket?
Please give me your thoughts and suggestions.

XDA2s and MS Voice Command 1.5

Hi all,
Does the XDA2s and Microsofts Voice Command work on a XDA2s?
I'm not English, but I'm sure my English is good enought!
Whenever I give a voice command I get a "please repeate" error..
I think it's something with the mic gain, but where and how do I set it lower? Enabling/Disabling the Microphone AGC settings did not really help!
Any suggestions?
You should rather forget about this application. I tried to use it but with no success, exactly like you. Then I tried other applications (with the same result) and finally I followed suggestions from this forum: Neuvoice - it works and it's cheap.

Thanks Maciej L,
Yes I think I will dump it.. It really sucks...
Looks nice the Neuvoice. To bad there is no demo to test it 1st
Yes there is a demo version, just download the full version from somewhere and it works as demo until you purchase the unlock code (as far as I can remember - but I'm not 100% sure - so you should by yourself)

XDA IIs Fonix Application
I have just received my XDAIIs upgrade from an XDA II and it comes complete with Fonix Voice Dial. It automatically records test voices against your contacts (name number) and then you can call it up any time. You can also record your own voice which makes it more efficient. It also works with bluetooth. It seems an OK applicaiton to me.
Is this what you have been talking about?
In a quiet environment, it really doesn't have any problems with recognizing my commands. As long as you don't have a terrible English accent. However, you can forget about if you are in a loud environment though.
of where you have downloaded it to you.
I don't find any demo in any place
greetings and thank you
XDA IIs Voice Software
I got mine with the XDA IIs cd but try Handango.com who have a good range of voice software including Vito Voice....
you have registered in your cd ?¿?

Voice Command 1.5
well, I have to say MS Voice Command works great for me. 95% hit rate on about 1000 contacts in my xdaIIs. Even in the car. Far better that V1.01. A couple of tips from my experienece with it.
1. Make sure the microphone auto gain is "disabled"
2. If it initially has problems and hit rate is very low, a soft reset usually sorts it out
3. Map the "record" button to Voice Command for easier access.
4. If your car is noisy, use a wired head set while driving. (I have not been able to get the bluetooth voice dialing to work at this point)

Hmmm... With none of the Voice dial programs I've been able to get the bluetooth to work.. Not sure if it's the bluetooth unit itself, or if it's some ROM version thingy...
The BT headset is a SE HBH-600. The XDA2s is with ROM version 1.12.62 WWE and radio version 1.02.00.
Can/will this work with bluetooth voice dialing??
MS Voice Command & BT Voice Dialing
No, sorry, I have not been able to make it work. I think its still an issue with the implementation of the BT stack (in this case the Widcomm stack) on the HTC devices. I can establish a connect from my headset to the device, but does not "link up" with voice dialing.
I now use a regular noise cancelling wired headset in the car, via an adapter plug sold by PockPCTechs (www.pocketpctechs.com) Other wise just use the phone mic to initiate a voice command dialed call

I was going to ask how well this works?
I'm getting a BT car kit fitted literally in the next hour and was hoping I'd be able to voice dial like I could my old Nokia, while driving.
I am using
O2 xda2s with microsoft voice software
I have a fairly noisy sports car but it works well..
I have the voice mapped to contacts button so one press and direct voice towards pda and no botha.... about 95% hit rate on 200 contacts..
I must add it has only been that good since buying a brodgit car cradle so it positioned well.. obviously you have to turn stereo off
the only complaint i have with it is that when the voice speaks back to you to confirm what you have said I cant hear it very well..
does anyone know of any settings to improve audio levels..
cheers
stay happy
Hi Guys
I have upgraded my 'Voice Command' handsfree solution as follows.
1. Added an FM 'Sound Feeder' from Pocketpctechs, that connects to the xda via one of 2 different pocketpctechs audio adaptors.
2. Tune the radio to one of the 8 frequencies supported by the Sound Feeder and the xda then plays all audio output through the car stereo system. This works for all apps, including my Navman GPS and Media Player!. I also mapped a button (I used the record button) to Voice Command, so one press activates VC and I can initiate a call by voice from there.
The really nice thing about this arrangement is that if i have media player running through the system, and a call comes in, the music mutes automatically, the phone rings, and i can take the call. When you end the call, media player picks right up again!
3. For the microphone part, there are 2 options:
a. The one I am using right now, is to use the pocketpctech 'single' adaptor, that allows sound to play through the stereo, while keeping the mic of the xda active. This means the xda picks up your voice directly for voice command and telecons, while at the same time playing the sound you normally hear via headphones, through the stereo. This works great for the incoming voice, although you need to talk fairly loudly for the party calling to hear you well. Decent enough though...
b. The upgrade I will make this weekend is to use the 'dual' pocketpctechs adaptor. This one accepts the soundfeeder on one side, plus a regular 2.5mm heasdset on the other. This one disables the internal xda mic, and allows you to use the mic from the headset. So I plan to permantly position this mic (after cutting off the ear bud!) on the door pillar as in normal car hands free installs. This should improve the outbound sound a good bit....
Will let you know how I get on

Chris
In the end, the Parrot CK3100 car kit has its own built in voice recognition, so I have no worries
Great! I looked at the Parrot a while back. How much was it? Work ok?

Chris
Well, I've not really had chance to test it properly yet, seems to be good. Cost me £180 to have it fitted, the old one removed and a bit of extra power wired in for my GPS & PDA.
Hi Andy
Sounds good. Let us know how it works out for you. I am interested in how the bluetooth connection holds up. I am still having problems with my xda maintaining a connection with my bluetooth headset.

Need bluetooth help badly!~

Please help me out I'm incredibly frustrated with this thing. I recently got the PDA2k and installed WM05 on it. It looks very nice and it runs speedy with no problems. My problem is the bluetooth which is huge thing to me. Either my headset (Tekkeon Eztalker Mini) is not compatible which I doubt or I'm making a stupid mistake.
This is what I did step by step: I click on the bluetooth icon and turn on the bluetooth, I then put my headset in pairing mode and the imate is able to recognize it and I enter the Pw and I put Set as handsfree. That's it, I would think I would be done at this point yet nothing happens, the headset doesn't do anything and I know its not Tekkeons fault because I was able to hook it up easily with my HP 6315.
So what's going what am I missing?
Also theres a tab at the bottom called "Com Ports" but I only see under this option "Incoming Port", and the description at the top says there should be another option called "New outgoing port". Does this have anything to do with it?
What Am i doing wrong? It's driving me crazy I can't really use the phone without the headset.
help me out pls
Bluetooth
I know the feeling, i have gone back to 2003 cause of that but now i am back on wm5. The bluetooth issue is not fixed yet, it is not stable, it keeps going off. There is a suspend cab file, but it does not work for me yet, also try pokect zen beta. You might get a longer period of bluetooth
thanks for responding, but the problem is not that it suspends or stops working. It doesn't start working at all even though the imate detects it. It's like it's not connected at all, not that it disconnects. I'm doing something wrong I just don't know what.
The bluetooth piece is not faulty and the unit is practically brand new. whats going on?
I used "Display Switch" binded button (From Wisbar Advance 2) or "Toggle Screen" (From SPB Pocket Plus) to turn off the backlight instead of using power button .
This work around will keep bt connection alive.
Note:
1. If you suspend your BA using psShutXP your bt connection .
2. You have to disable auto turn off device under Start -> Setting -> Power
Note:
1. If you suspend your BA using psShutXP your bt connection will be disconnected.
I'm sorry I'm not sure I'm explaining myself correctly. I understand that if the power goes off I will lose the BT connection but the problem is not KEEPING the connection alive, the problem is MAKING the connection. I follow all the steps , the imate recognized the headset but I'm not able to use it..also shouldn't a headset picture show up at the top of the screen when the bt headset is connected (cuz mine doesnt). what am i doing wrong?
thanks.
still need help please.. if someone can walk me through how to setup a bluetooth connection that would be great cuz I apparently haven't done it right.
The headset icon only shows in Phone app
The headset icon only shows up in the Phone application. It no longer is displayed in the notification area (top row).
If your device is paired up, when you make a call, you will see the headset icon in the top right corner.
You may also need to clear any old pairings that you headset has. I have a Jabra 250 and it happens all the time.
there we go you have solved my problem!. I didnt' have to open up the phone application on my hp 6315 to use the bt. So wait can I listen to music with windows media player through the bt headset or does it only work when making phone calls? I was able to listen to music on the HP 6315, is it different with the Imate or is it the NEW 05 os? Please enlighten me
thank you thank you
also one other thing does this mean that if i want to use the headset with the phone that I have to press the answer button on the imate rather than the headset..cuz that would suck big time.
what about when people call me can i answer with the answer button of the bt headset or no?
It works fine with the headset button for answering or hanging up.

Tasker help...

Hey guys, so the glitch in the OEM T-Mobile G2 rom, with the bluetooth music not working after a bluetooth call, has really got to me. I've been messing with Tasker for a while now trying to make a profile where it turns the bluetooth off and then on after a bluetooth call. Simple as that. But I can't seem to make it work. I don't want any auto-answer stuff, and I want it to do nothing if I decline or miss the call, because the music isn't affected after either of these events. Can you guys please give me an outline of the profiles, states, events, tasks, etc. that I need to create in order to make this work? I'm using the "Tasker" program. It would be nice if I can get it to connect to my bluetooth stereo headset after as well, because it usually takes a while if you just let it sit there. And then to automatically start the music again after the connection has been established. If not, just the off/on would be ok, cause if I press the play key on the bluetooth headset, it connects to the phone and starts to play the music. I just need to press it like 3 times, because for some reason the first time it always starts playing through the speaker. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
any ideas? Its possible, right?

Parrot Minikit+ and SG2

Hi all
Bought the above BT unit for my car and plant vehicles yesterday and thought I'd give you the heads-up on how it's going. I needed something that easily transfers between vehicles, so didn't want a wired solution.
Well, in a nutshell it's perfect for my use. The unit downloaded my phone book (792 contacts in 11 groups) in a matter of 15 seconds. I first paired with my Sg2 after a little bit of fiddling, I had to hold down the red and green buttons together first - nowhere in the supplied or online manuals does it say to do that first but, there ya go.
In use.....
1. Audio is extremely clear, although scrolling through the contact names with the centre dial is laborious and the robo-voice is pretty bad, but then again the voice dialling works great so there's really no need to use the scrolling method at all. For instance, I press the green button, the unit says " Who would you like to call", I say " Jane mobile" and voila, it dials instantly and extremely quickly. No errors.
2. Likewise with pickup of calls. The phone rings followed by the unit. I say "answer" and boom. Incidentally, if the caller is in your phonebook the unit says the name of the caller. Also, if you update your phone's contact list at any time, the Parrot automatically updates it's contact list to match the phone at the next time you turn on the Parrot and pair with your phone. Brilliant.
3. Using satnav ( CoPilot Live and a couple of others) the audio is sent out throught the Parrot automatically. The phone has priority over the satnav, naurally.
4. Using the music player, the audio also comes out through the Parrot. Not a great sound but good enough for most purposes, especially if you're listening to something like Tune In Radio. So if your listening, for example, to Tune In whilst running satnav at the same time, the radio dims for guidance audio then comes back up, and if the phone rings whilst your listening to the radio and using satnav, then they both dim until you finish your call.
Excellent stuff all round I reckon. By the way, I'm nothing to do with Parrot, but I think praise where praise is due.....

Help finding a multipoint Bluetooth headset that behaves properly

I'm looking for a good quality multipoint Bluetooth headset, I've tried two different ones so far and have not been pleased with the results, A Blueant Q2 and a SoundID 510.
The Blueant would only let you use voice commands on the 1st phone that it connects to at that session, sometimes it was one phone, sometimes another, highly annoying. Even when it was connecting to the right phone the only way I could use the phones built in voice dialer was by pressing the side button, waiting for the prompt then having to speak "Phone Command", then I was taken to the phone's own voice control, and I would have to do this every single time. and if that was not bad enough, the headset would always take over the phone's audio, I connect to my car stereo via a line connected to the headphone jack, but when I connected with the headset it would disable the headphones and output to the headset even after I disabled it in the phone settings. Returned.
The SoundID was even worse, most of the time it would not even let me get to any phone's voice commands after having paired a second phone. When it does go to voice commands it says "Siri" every time , I hate Crapple, deal breaker. I didn't use it enough to check out the rest. Returned.
I just want a headset that can do the following:
Connect to 2 devices, one of which will be answer only.
Have one button access to voice commands and always have it go to the same phone, regardless of which one connects first.
No ADP audio, or have it easily disabled in the hardware.
Hard Switch (No hold down talk button for X amount of seconds to turn on/off)
Comfortable and easy to put on (no over the ear) would also be nice.
Under $100
Does anything like this exist? I do not want to have to navigate a menu to get my phone to call someone, I just want to push a button once and know its always going to the right phone.
Gracias
I Love Carmen De Mairena
