Please HELP me with my XDA SP WM 2003 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello,
I'm sure answers to these question must be posted here already but I haven't been able to find them so far.
I have recently acquired a XDA SP (don't know which version) and I have several questions about it, so I hope someone can help:
1. I have some bluetooth stero headphones which I currently use with a Dell Axim. Can I use these with my XDA SP? The bluetooth stack doesn't support them currently, so is there an upgrade I can apply? How?
2. The phone only seems to offer "Dial-up network Networking" as a service; how can I get it to offer file browsing, etc.?
finally, for now
3. Can I upgrade the OS to WM5 (or preferably 6)? How?
thanks in advance.

how to determine an XDA environment

Hi ,
I have a similar question as my neighbour,
but in another context:
I want do detemine from my Pocket PC-Application (written in eMbedded C++),
if it is runnung on an XDA or not.
(If it is not runnung on an XDA, I want to disable the phone-part of my application).
Perhaps anyone knows ?
Bye
Franz
I think the TAPI function phoneInitializeEx would do the trick. It will return the number of available phone devices.
It won't be able to tell an XDA from any other Pocket PC with a phone extension, but you probably don't want to do that anyway?
There are 2 things you can do.
If you want to know if you are runnung on an XDA then use lineGetGeneralInfo to get Model and Manufacturer.
For my XDA the Manufacturer comes up as HTC and the Model as Wallaby.
When you use lineGetGeneralInfo I have found that the phone needs to be on otherwise the call fails.
As an alternative you could use lineGetRadioPresence to see if there is a radio.
Both of there methods are in documented in ppc3sdkr.chm that comes with the PocketPC 2002 SDK.

Sjeesh man, life is too short to be vague. :| What is it you wish to accomplish?
(Since you posted in 'Unlocking it', it may well be that you wish to use this phone on some other provider than the one that is providing you with the phone, and that you suspect that the phone has a SIMlock set....)
XDA-Developers
i've got an MDA Vario II and just updated it to the original WM6 ROM which was available from T-Mobile, but I am very disappointed - in some things:
- The Power Consumption has increased
- Some Programs are even not in this ROM like the "Notes" Application and the Calculator
- The Performance is not as good as under WM5
- The WMP cannot play MP4 Files
...There are some more issues but I don't want to list them all, because this is not my core question
What I want to know is if it is possible to install the O2 Rom or if you can recommend me another ROM, it is no problem if it is in english, it just should be having all the WM Standard Programs and it should have more performance.
Can I get the original HTC ROM somewhere ?

Restoring Old OS - XDA 2

Hiya everyone.
I had a search for this, and was unable to find the solution, so I apologise if this has been asked before.
Is it possible to revert my XDA 2's OS back to its original state after its been upgraded to WM 2005?
I only ask because I wish to sell my XDA 2, and there are certain aspects of the new OS that don't run properly (The 2 side buttons - camera and voice recorder no longer work, and I am unable to connect to the internet as the o2 settings were wiped, and they are unable to provide me with the manual details).
If this is possible, then great... if not, then I'll have to make do really (unless someone can offer assistance on the problems above?).
Oh just for reference, I used the guide on this forum to upgrade to WM 2005, so you can see the exact process I went through.
Thanks to anyone who is able to help.
Failing any help, can anyone post a rom of the OS in its original state for the o2 XDA2?? (with o2 Active, despite how many ppl hate it! lol)
I'd just like to get it back to its fully-functioning self again.

JasJar wireless Bluetooth stereo hack..

I've read much recently about a "CAB file" created by Khuanchai which enables A2DP style wireless bluetooth stereo on versions of the iMate JasJar. The topic is discussed at length here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=275656&sid=494a2df12b48a1e8fdca8ae0e7bfb752
I own an "O2 Exec" which is a rebadged JasJar and would like to download and install this feature if it is safe to do so.
Does anyone know where this CAB file can be found, and, more importantly will it work on my mobile ? A link would be nice.
If there is risk, then it might be worth waiting for the official release, in which case I'd be interested in knowing if anyone knows when this will be ?
Thanks,
Alan
Well, this isn't exactly the same as what you described (the link you gave us refers to the 818 pro, anyway), but should work:

the iPhone is proprietary to Apple and so it can't be put on anything else. What you can do is put other things on your XDA to make it finger friendly in operation.
To remove just the O2 garbage, do a hard reset and then when it says "Customising in 3 secs", or something like that do a soft reset.
These questions and more can be answered if you look in the Himalaya/Andes sub forum if its an XDA II or the Alpine section if its an XDA IIi. To tell the difference, apart from the label on the front of the case, which may have been changed:
Go to Start - Settings - System - Device Info.
Select the "Identity" tab.
PH10B = Himalaya/Andes, can be upgraded to WM5 and WM6
PH10C = Alpine, cannot be upgraded but does include WiFi.
The best advice is to read through these forums, especially the device specific ones and also the "Development and Hacking" one for customisation.
Thanks a bunch! my sister-in-law retired her o2 xda 2 to me and I wanted to give it a nice "face-lift". I'll be trying out the stuff you've suggested, thanks again
