Indialer Bitmaps - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Hi,
I've the following Problem, I did a new skin for the Phone and the Smart-Dialler
so for the Phone-Skin its Easy, I created a new Folder where I stored the Pictures and edited the registry.
With the Smart-Dialler (Intelli-Dialler) I have the following problem. I can't find where the paths to the Pictures are stored. And I also can't overwrite the Pictures because they're writeprotected and declared as System-Files.
If anybody know how I can manually change the bitmaps, please help me.
(sorry, for the maybe bad english, I'm from Austria )
thanks

Editing MUI files - error in phone :(

When I edit some MUI files (from SPV C550), for example "tshres.dll.04XX.mui" it looks ok... but not in phone.... it shows sometimes some mistakes like the one on the attachment I have uploaded.
Maybe someone knows how to fix it? It hapens only on few files but they are necessary to finish a langpack I create
I am looking forward for your help and thank you very much in advance!
Are you editing on your computer and then uploading it to the PDA (the normal way of developing apps)? If so then it has to do with your font & language pack. Your computer has probably got your languages of choice installed, and you also probably have the appropriate fonts on it as well - but are they on your PDA? If not, then that would explain the box that appears once you port it to the PDA (which basically just indicates that the font that is installed on the PDA does not have that particular character for that language). I don't know how you could overcome this, except to take your computer font and convert it/import it to the PDA. Hope that helps!

The phone supports all Polish characters... this is not because of this....
It happens even when I open the original english mui file and just save it in ResHacker (or any other program).

How to Change Bitmap in Software Keyboard?

All the nordic user wich have åä and ö in there keyboard often uses "scandivaisktastatur5.cab" (se attached file) to replace the orginal software keyboard in a WM6 ROM. Tho its very ugly and has the old WM5 design I would like to change the bmp picture in the dll:s inside the cab. How do I do that? I can extract the Cab file, and replace the bmp file in the dll:s but how do I make a Cab out of it again? I have tried to change the BMP picture inside the dll and then copy the dll file in the windows directory (where the dll files are extracted by the cab file) but that will not work. Can anybody help pleas??
Hi
I have already tried what you suggests with no luck. This is what I did:
1) Extracted the dll from the cab
2) Extracted the bmp from the dll with resource hacker
3) Edited the bmp in Photoshop (see the attachment)
4) Inserted the new bmp into the dll with resource hacker
5) Replaced the original dll in the cab with the new one
6) Installed the cab
...and it did not work. Maybe it has something to do with signing of the dll or something, I don't know. If someone wants to try another shot, feel free to us the attached keyboard skin.
Regards,
PK
You would have to sign this dll etc, and even then it may not work - if you cook your own rom it might, but have a look at the new app that came out recently to change the Wait cursor. See how that's been signed and the certificates it uses, with an mui file. A similar technique may help here.

Okaj...I did the similar thing.....but i guess that you need sign it with a certificate...I hav watched a little on that maybe making your own root certficate and sign the Dll with it, but it seams to be very complicated :-(

Hi
Thanks for the info Vijay! BTW: I use many of the free tools you have developed for the XDA's! Thanks for the effort!
The wait cursor thing was done on WM5, right? Could we use the same certificates or does WM6 need others?

Hi!
I don't think the German keyboard is excactly the same thing as we try to achieve. the German one installs as an separate SIP. The SkandinaviskTastatur.cab changes the inbuilt default keyboard SIP, but there is definitely possible to learn something from the German one.

SHARP W-ZERO3 WS004SH Change English Language

Hey guys sorry for late answer about changing language, I was too busy but I will upload files to change w-zero ws004sh language to japanesee to English. it is not flashing rom, it is %100 my method. İt took me 1 week to spend on.
First step
You need to download tascal software, I mean registy editor. Then you will find IMEU registry that value seem 1041, you must change it to 1033. Select IMEU and change its value to 409 than it will automatically change 1033. Now soft reset the w-zero.
Second step
By doing this, your w-zero will change in English. But your start menu settings and programmes will disseppear in menu. it will seem empty. To fixing this, you must copy start menu and startup folder in windows directory. Start menu and startup folders in attach. AGAİN You must copy it to windows directory.
I will attach all documents. Lengarm.cab is need to change it in Turkish you dont need to do it

Any question just let me know.

hi there ,
good job there
i wish that sharp release there devices em-one and w-zero for europe
nice devices.
By using this method, you can change nearly all sharp devices, I think. Start menu and startup folder is from benq p50 device.
Yay!
THANK YOU, hekimbaba!
This looks great. I have admired these units for a long time, but don't speak Japanese. I hope to buy a Japanese unit soon and try this out.
Question - what are the two .cab files for? You mentioned the one for Turkish, but what is the other one?
Thanks,
Girt
PS - are you Turkish? Merhaba!
One cab file registry editor. Another one is change English to Turkish. I hope it will be helpful. By the way yes I am Turkish! hi

ROM cooking: smthing else than initflashfiles affects shortcuts

Hi, everyone! I´m still working on a Wizard (don´t want to touch my Hermes, yet). I´m pretty advanced... but
I dump the [latest] original cingular WM5. I rebuilt it with office 2007 and realize that the original shortcuts are still there. Of course, they are both useless (as I have new names for the apps) and annoying (because I can´t remove them before compiling).
This is the whole point: Those shortcuts are not coming from neither an xml update for the XIP nor an initflashfiles.txt
HOW ON EARTH DO I REMOVE THEM. I can´t find what is creating and copying those shortcuts
Are they embedded in the OS.nb file? If so, how do I take that file apart?
Any help is very much appreciated!
..provxml, m8..
Nope, had checked already
*.mopvxml, etc had been checked.
But... what did you mean by m8?.
BTW: I will check inside os.nb now, but please give me fresh ideas
You may also want to check for a file called initflashfiles.dat. That contains a lot of shortcut information as well. Especially for apps that are default for that particular ROM. It should be found in the OEM\OEM_LANG_* folder in the kitchen. The (*) is the locale number. For example, a WWE ROM would have the folder as OEM_LANG_0409.
Yep, solved (initflashfiles.dat)
Hey, thanks! You´re FAST!
I was about to post it. But thanks, you could have saved me hours
Anyways. If anyone ever reads this thread, remember: scavenging os.nb(a) isn´t that great. An automated kitchen does it all (Hypercore in this case).
I also found somebody claiming that certain shortcut came from a dll. Just keep as a sidenote.
Cheers!

Reading Chinese with TP2.

Hello All.
Here is the package that I used to read traditional and simple chinese in my
Touch Pro 2.
These are the best font and size that I find works the best for my TP2 using
WM6.1.
Instructions are in the attachment.
Enjoy.

thanks for sharing,do you have one for wm 6.5????
This one will also work for WM6.5
integrate into registry????
I would like to install this font also...can you explain what you meant by integrate into registry or paste an example. Sorry for my elementary question...I am still new at this. Thanks in advance for your help.
Can anyone verify if this works? Tired of seeing little squares in MSN Messenger!
OMG! Thank you so much! I've been searching for an easy way to get Chinese font on my TP2. This works great. My Chinese and Japanese MP3's are now readable. No more square "text".
Would you happen to know a solution for Korean font?
I just noticed that my date/time is now in Chinese. Is there a way to keep that in english?
I assume the cab is making the necessary fontlink and registry changes to switch the system font.
Newbie here so please bear with me if my question seems off but I've been reading here and google for the past few hours and still couldn't figure out on the installation instruction.
Here's the installation instruction from the download folder:
1. Copy wince.nls into /windows Directory.
2. Install Chinese Cab, Do Not Restart
3. Integrate the registry file
4. Restart.
I have installed SPL and copied the #1 wince.nls file into the windows directory but am now completely lost on #2 as there's no .cab file from the download folder?
About #3, how do you integrate the registry file?
Thanks in advance.
Yeap... how to integrate the registry? Btw, i can read and type chinese in notepad or sms. but, when i view something like bible or facebook application, the fonts become "square box with a question mark" inside? Any help?
