In my experience, it may take 3-10 minutes before the GPS acquires the first satelite, after having flashed to a new ROM.
Cheers!

Use visual GPS software
Hi dude,
Take a look here,
www.visualgps.net/VisualGPS
download the soft and test your GPS on your mobile, let it configure automatically.
Then lunch your GPS software, like tomtom or else, if needed, try to downgrade your radio to 1.46.30.11.
If needed try all radio till u get the gps fix with visualGps.
Make me know if works dude.
thanks i will try it and give some result tommorow
I think you just need to try it at a different location. Sometimes the response of the phone is dependent on the location.
For example, I work on one of the top floors of one of the tallest buildings in the part of town where I work, and have a clear view to the sky in all directions (absolutely no obstructions). Yet, I can leave my phone in the window for over an hour and never get a satellite fix. I can even open the window and stick the phone out the window and still get no fix. However, as soon as I leave work, and get to a different location (even with buildings towering over me) I get a fix. On the flip side, at home, I sit down away from the window, the window has thick curtains, and there is another house right outside my window creating an obstruction and yet I have no problem getting a fix.
My suggestion...go to another location when possible, soft reset the phone, and restart the application that uses gps. If you are driving, even better (it's more likely that you will reach an area where the position of your phone with regard to the satellite is good and you will get a fix).
This has worked for me irrespective of the radio rom (and I have flashed 1.38, 1.41, 1.46, and 1.50 radio versions to my phone and have always gotten a satellite fix).
Thanks for your help guys...
but still no luck...i'd tried all day long but still no satelite seeing on my trinity.

i think your problem is your radio version try the radio version that i mention yesterday
yeah, it should be radio related, or your GPS chip is having a random hardware error unrelated to your ROM flashing. its pretty unlikely that the problem was the ROM (although i guess anything is possible..)
Recently, my GPS will work, and then i'll turn it off.. when i want to turn it back on it sometimes can't locate the GPS on any com port... most times i need to soft reset to get it working again.. not sure what that's about.
if you saw one satellite for 30 seconds, then there's hope for you make sure you're outside with clear view of the sky.. and definitely try a different radio ROM.. beyond that, i'm not sure if there's anything you can do

Radio 1.08.00
Radio 1.08.00 seems to be for the Himalaya?
yep ! definetely for a himalaya !
I'm halfway through upgrading mine... maybe I should have checked the new posts in here before I started... :? I'll let you know how it turns out!
I had the Country ID error and ran it again. Worked second time.
I guess I can always reflash back to 1.06.00 if it all goes tits up!
EDIT: Presumably if it's for the Himalaya then WiFi connectivity will be broken once I've done it, since the Himalaya doesn't support WiFi. 30% done. I'll report back soon...

Please let us know, so we could possible proceed as well.
im 88% through flashing, figured wtf 1.06 can go on again
Okay, I've done the upgrade and when I did a soft-reset my machine said
Radio 1.08.00
Protocol 42.41.P8
And I have connected to my wireless network at home and have successfully browsed to the bbc.co.uk homepage, so WiFi works.
I haven't put a SIM in my device yet (still using my old phone).
Why do you guys think it's for the Himalaya?
well it seems to work a treat chaps,
wifi connectec quicker im sure, not long enough for a thorough check but its working!!!
oops i forgot to remove the sd and sim, ahhwell, flashed first time, phew
Okay guys, here's what I've found so far:
WiFi works - connected to my home network and browsed
Bluetooth works - ran TomTom and got a fix
Phone works - Made a few phone calls.
AND... When I rang the Exec it indicated an incoming call the INSTANT I got a dial tone on the house phone and there was no delay before we could hear each other!
This looks like the real deal!
im sure this thing is running alot smoother aswell, so far 1.08 on the Universal is a green light, i dunno where this hymilaya thing has come from, but on buzz's site its in the universal section
Yeah I agree Carnivor. It looks very promising so far and all of the functions appear to work at least as well as before.
Just been syncing successfully with Exchange over WiFi.
Obviously if it starts crashing we'll report back, but nothing bad so far!
About wifi, did you have the need to turn on twice to connect, and is it solved with this radio? Ie: Some universal user can turn on wifi the first time, but if you turn it off (using the pocket pc menu, not by turning off the power), and you turn on again, it won't connect. You would have to turn off then on to connect.
i upgraded to my Jasjar and all went alright until I reset at the end and it want boot past the blue i-mate screen, I have even hard reset and still nothing.
Any help please.....
Or does anyone know how to put old radio or Rom on as it will not boot up so I can't use activesync

Just reset the device normally and plug in the USB cable.
ActiveSync won't connect, but it will be connected to your PC. Just run the T-Mobile ROM Update program then and everything should be fine
If you still want to upgrade to Radio ROM 1.08.00, then try the tutorial I wrote here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40986
Just follow all the steps for the radio ROM, and in the end throw away the non-radio ROM files before flashing
I'm using this method right now on my Dutch T-Mobile MDA Pro as I also had trouble with the NoID tool
Thanks for helping me.
You said use the T-Mobile Rom, I have a i-Mate Jasjar, is the T-Mobile Rom the only Rom that will fix this problem?

No, if you have an I-Mate, use an original I-Mate ROM instead of the T-Mobile one
EDIT:
Actual feedback on this Radio ROM:
the GPRS refused to log in, somehow, although I'm not quite sure this is a problem with the ROM. I'll downgrade to 1.06.00 later and see if the problem persists.
Everything else seems to work just fine
Upgrade Radio 1.08.00
I just upgraded my Universal (OS: TMo 1.20.34) with Radio 1.08.
Everything running like a charm.

Hallo (Bepe)
I have a HTC Touch Diamond and my rom was RUU_Diamond_HTC_GER_1.37.407.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.26a.25.09_1.00.25.03_Ship
and my GPS functionality was perfect. with TomTom 7
Now i have Diamond_bElite_Premium_0.95_0407 rom, and Diamond_Radio_1.00.25.05 because was recommended. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407956
Now my GPS not works, why??
I have Check with HTC GPS Tool and GNS Test, no GPS signal.
QuickGPS update 6 Days an 23 h
I think the problem is the Diamond_Radio_1.00.25.05 why not works with the internal GPS. It's very strange.
Anybody have the same problems ???
Do you think you can resolve this problem ???
Have you tried another radio with the same ROM?
Did you use VOIP? It has a tendency to break GPS (hard boot fixes the issue)
I have a custom built ROM based on 20273 (with 15965 elements) with radio .11
GPS works fine. It DOES take some time to get a fix the first time, but afterwards, it swooshes.
^.^
IF another radio doesn't work, check if the issue persists with another ROM but with radio .05.
have you tryed a hard reset?
I have this radio version and the gps work fine
I have this radio version and the gps doesn't work fine! since I've flashed my diamond... a lot of problem for gps. No voip soft installed.
Problem on 0.95 and 0.96 bepe version.
i have this radio on the hk 193 rom and the gps works flawlessly,takes30 seconds to lock sats from cold boot.
Always hard reset after flashing a new rom. It fixes many problems. This advice is given by Duttythroy.

GPS works fine ! At least, 1.00.25.05 is a very good Radio ROM.
I don't think GPS has anything to do with the Radio since it is not a transmitting device. It's another problem. Have you checked windows manages GPS port?

When the HTC trinity was release in Europe it had a Radio ROM of 1.23.** with this ROM the GPS did not function. With the release of Radio ROM 1.38.** the device now had GPS capability. Do you still think the RADIO ROM has nothing to do with GPS?
I've had the same issues after upgrading the Radio ROM... The two are DEFINITELY connected as in the Radio ROM has something in it that affects GPS.
Anyway, as stated in other threads and here (ALWAYS hard reset after upgrading the Radio ROM, even though you dont have to, its best that you do.
Then run GPSTool, choose COM4, baud 4800, press 'Open' then once you see data in the bottom half of the screen (thats your GPS talking!) choose 'Cold Start' from the drop down box and then press 'Nav Init'.
Now leave it like this for a few minutes (outside!) and then press the satellites tab at the bottom, as long as you can at least see some red dots (satellites) on the globe (earth) then your GPS IS WORKING. Dont worry if it says Mode 2: No fix available - as I dont know about the rest of you but Ive never seen this tool get a 'fix'.
Now once you've let it do that for a while and verified some red dots on the satellites screen then you should be able to close the tool, and start TomTom and just be a little patient maybe and then you will start seeing some activity.
A little note: Be somewhere with at LEAST 60% sky view when you're doing this as you've reset all the nav data and the initial process of locking on satellites from 'cold' can take a while, but once you've locked on eventually the next time it should be a little quicker. As usual YMMV but at least this has worked for me and I've had no end of trouble with the GPS after doing Radio ROM updates.
Good luck.
I have a Verizon Vogue and cannot get the GPS to work. it had the standard ROM on it out of the store then i upgraded it with the official WM6.1 ROM but i let the customizations run. a few weeks later i found a ROM from NFSFAN that i liked so i re-flashed my Vogue with the newer Alltel rom (to get the newer radio) but i didnt let the customizations run that time. i then used the unlocker 2.31 from coke (again not letting customizations run.) i then flashed NFSFAN's ROM. i cannot get the GPS to work. when i run GPSViewer it scans my ports and says it finds a GPS on com 4 at 4800 baud. it seems to successfully open the GPS but it never gets a satellite, i stood outside for 10-15min. i tried it with Google Maps and its never connects. i told Google maps to use windows settings for the GPS, also i tried to tell Google Maps to use Com 4 at 4800 baud and eventually it says no GPS found. i even followed a guide telling me how to use QPST to modify the GPS settings including the ip to the GPS server. any help would be greatly apreciated. i would really like to use Google Navigator from PDAfun.

yeah, you and alot of other people, some are reporting that VZW has locked down the aGPS/GPS access and found all the hacks and other custom settings and blocked it so it would seem that they are enforcing the $10/moth GPS plan as some are stating that they signed up and got the GPS back
Others of course are saying that switching the port in the registry from 8888 to 8889 works for a while then you have to change it back to get it to work again as well...
Im not on VZW so I couldnt be positive about any of it, just from what Im reading from users on VZW reporting stuff

hey thanks man, i will give that a try. but first i just want to make sure that downgrading the radio will even work and/or wont brick my phone. this is assuming those verizon ROMs do include the radio. also, do i just start step 1 from where i am now with the newer radio and custom ROM currently flashed?

The whole problem is that you let the customizations run in the first place. You need to flash a pre non-GPS ROM & radio. I would not have upgraded to the Alltel Radio as I don't believe that there is really any benefit. This is unless you know people in your geographic region have had success upgrading their radio.
Yes Start with Step #1
When you get to step #4 like it says don't let the customizations run. At this point your GPS should be functioning. You'll need to download the Holux GPS Viewer or the HTC one. Make sure that your phone location setting is turned on & not set for 911. setting--->phone--->services tab---> location setting ---> get settings button with one of these Gps viewers you should be able to get a lock it may take awhile. As long as you start to see red satellite dots you are probably good to go. This means that he GPS is functioning.
You can probably skip the last step if all else goes well.
Good Luck!
wiki works but
when I went through it at the first step. the phone kept on rebooting right after alignment. freaked out a lil bit. But it did stabilize. just keep the sd card out of the phone.

keeping the sd card out of the phone is KEY - after alllll the things i tried, i went back to http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?title=Pocket_PC_WIki:FIX_VERIZON_GPS and ran through it without the SD card in . . . flashed NFSFAN's windows 6.5 v5 ROM, fired up GPS Viewer and for the first time in AGES saw the red satellite dots . . . a few soft resets later and I'm getting 6-7 sats locked on from inside my work!

Once you have your phone unlocked with 2.31 you want to leave it unlocked because otherwise there is a good chance your GPS will not work.
ok i finnaly got my phones gps to work this is what i did reset the pri with the stock rom with the 1.30 radio then updated the radio from bell. No gps hacks were need i get a lock with 7 sat. in about 10 sec. o yea im using my own custom rom.
Tried it all, guess we are going to have to settle
I too have a VZW xv6900 that used to have an awesome GPS, that is now not so awesome. I have tried all the suggestions - from using the telus agps server, switching the ports, using the qpst fix for both vzw and telus, valhalla, removing the memory card, standing on one foot and yelling at it and what it seems to boil down to is no aGPS for vzw users.
Sure you can make the gps work standalone with no aGPS by changing the SUPL gps mode regkey to 2 instead of 4, but it's slower to get fix, doesn't work in buildings very well, and overall crappy compared to what we used to have - which I think is what most people have done (either intentionally or unintentionally) when they say they got it to work.
If anyone has figured out a way to get aGPS working on VZW I would love to hear it... I really miss those instant locks
I did not have to run QPST at all. I made the mistake of running the updated VZW rom which locks gps. Followed steps from the WIKI and flashed NFSFANs newest ROM turned my phone location setting on and I'm picking up satellites quickly.
I got my gps viewer working with port 4, but my current location w/ google map doesn't work. What is going on?

Hi guys
After flashing my phone with leeDroid 2.2.0 I've noticed that my gps signal is very poor , to the point it has not connected yet. I upgraded my radio after flashing and its been poor since then. I've tried with Google maps and navigation and neither bondat. The used the agps function but that's all that works. Gps status from the market states 4 sats in about 20 seconds though.
Anyone got any tips or should I roll back the radio ?
Thanks guys
Im on 2.2.2 with latest radio and all good
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Could it be that it was the first time you "activate" your GPS? First time will take longer than usual. After the first time, probably it may take 5 minutes or more, you will get a faster fix. Did you change your NTP server to your nearest one?
I am running 2.2.2 now and I get a lock within 5-15 seconds. in both situation moving(on the road) and not moving(static). at most it will take is 30 seconds but its rarely now.

Maybe you should try Faster fix and then tell us if you still got problems.
Faster Fix
Anyway, you should better update to Leedroids 2.2.2 and his new Kernel and maybe the advised radio 12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2 they work pretty fine.
having same problem...
using radio 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2, from leedroid page...flashed it twice.
I get no GPS signal...tried faster fix and set to north america as well. Any next steps?
Try a different radio.

Terminal:
Code:
su
getprop "gsm.version.ril-impl"
Do NOT use that tool (can't remember what it's called) to check RIL, use terminal

Grab from RIL thread. Rils are flashed in recovery (unlike Radio).

OK, flashed correct .ril, after reflashing the radio. Ran Faster Fix
Let GPS sit for a while. had 12 sats used in fix, but no fix ever came through.
Any info on this?
ok, reverted to the radion .06.06 something or other and it works great. Thanks again for advice Mr_JMM
Hi boys, i'm in problems again... i think u can help, or maybe try, if u want, u know.
Well, i don't remeber when, but suddenly gps stop works for me, or if it works, very very very inexact, for example, precision about 1000m... or maps says "ur location is unaivable", i'd try sense 3.5 roms, sense 3.0 roms, cm7 roms, o2 roms, now i'm with miui and still have the problem.
My phone drops accidentaly a few times, and before that, i'd try aGPS fix... but i don't know what's the problem... well, anyone have idea?
thanks!!!
PS: now with MIUI, maps says "ur loc is unaivable" and every app that uses location loop at "getting loc"... doesn't work.

Have you had a look at the following post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560829
I had a problem where my GPS refused to start (the blinking 'waiting for GPS lock' icon didn't come on) and flashing the patch in recovery worked perfectly. I now have perfect GPS, and have managed to find up to 12 satellites concurrently.

I have a similar problem, my GPS can't find any satelite. I'm using ICS 0.7 and tried with and without aGPS Fix. GPS Status doesn't do anything, it also doesn't find any satelite at all.

I had the same problem, GPS turns on but it can't find any satellites. I got it fixed under warranty. I think they changed the gps antenna cable, if I remember right. I was changing roms back and forth trying to figure out the cause, but it was a hardware problem.
You can try changing your radio version.

and do u unroot/unrecovery ur phone? ****, it seems like a real trouble
i think i'm gonna explode my phone and take new one from my comp, stock the phone again seems really really heavy
I just flashed the alpharev hboot downgrader, and then the stock 2.2 PB99IMG.zip found here from some sticky. All from recovery and that's it. I read that you should use the stock 2.3 image, so that you wouldn't lose your warranty, but my phone was unbranded, so I guess it didn't matter.
So I opened the phone today and dis- and reconnected the GPS antenna cable (the cable on the left). Didn't do anything though.
I'm using 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23

hard brick my phone and say "i don't know what pass, pls help" hahaha, any method to hardbrick the phone and make it unrecoverable? thx for all
(trying to stock it, i've bootlooped and lost my recovery/root, i'm a ****ing idiot )
Install official HTC 2.3 update, it doesn't void your warranty.
