A beginner's doubt about v1640 upgrading

Hi evryone. I've been reading this forum a long time, but it's now when I decide to write you. First, thanks in advance for your answers. I tell you my doubt:
I've acquired recently a v1640 and as I've been able to check the prestablished rom by vodafone does not fit my expectations. Well, my problem begins when I decide to upgrade the rom. Here when I start sweating, praying and even crying... And all because I'm unaware of the required information to solve this. As I have read and document myself, I should do the following:
1. Maybe it's appropiate making a rom backup with a program called aWizard (which I don't even know if it will work on my ppc)
2. I've decided choosing a rom provided by imate in its public ftp. The rom is JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship, which I'm not sure enough if it will work either, due to the diversity of opinions about.
3. Once I decide to upgrade it, I should do it with a program called MaUpgradeUt, that it will do the task in about 30 minutes, provided the stars line up and I win twice the lottery...
As I have said before, thanks to evryone who can give me support on this topic.

complete backup are not recommended, but you can try...
if you've got problems after, make a Hardreset.

Can you please give me the cab and explain how you do ?
I have asked this quesion but no answers at all. I want to use it on my company and I don't know how to manage it. May I have to change my ROM ?
When i'm tring to to create a BB accoutant, it tells me that my PIN and/or IMEI is incorrect.

Hello,The BBC in Trinity Only work with this ROM ROM 1.23.707.4_TEST DOPOD
If you wont work with BBC you need install this ROM....
Lo siento es la unica solución, o instalas esa ROM o no te funcionara el BB en la Trinity.( es una lastima, pero de momento no hay mucha demanda de este servicio en la Trinity, tendremos que esperar, o hacernos Maestros, jejeje, eso si esta dificil........)

Que es esto de la BB?

Thanks for the ROM, thay I have just installed.
I am trying to say to Outlook to save the attached documents in the Card, but when I mark this option in the configuration of Outlook, it says that there is no Card un-blocked.
The card is in and I can surf in it with File explorer, so the Triny see the Card.
Any sugestion?

The BBC is the BlackBerry Connect tool. It works like Push Mail but it takes less datas to run so it is faster and less expensive.

Yes have GPS and all work very good, the videocall good, the GPS good, the BT very good with my parrot car, I'm happy with this ROM, but I liked more the WM6.

Gracias voy a intentarlo.
Con el WM6 es mejor pero es que lleva no se cuantos problemas. Por mi parte, tengo la ultima en frances. El bluetooth y la bateria es una tortura cada dia.... El resto es verdad que va bien, rapido y muy bien de presentacion y todo.

i found this file in trinity forum. it works perfectly. some of it is in french and some of it is in english. can someone help to clean up.
it is the complete cab including ftouchflo, schaps config, and cube all in one cab file. just install and use.

does it work in any device ??

Seems to be a Spanish language version, hence the "ES" on the end of the file name.
PS. Changing the shortcut names is as easy as editing the registry.

i have an at&t 8525 and the tilt it works perfectly on both.

Hi I Know Spanish no French but I Know what to change to English because the French and Spanish are romance language that comes from Latin I found in the Cab file I opened with Winrar and I found in the XML file the French thinks like Fotos and not Photos and Musica and not Music But I need someone to Compress the files back in to a Cab file I can send the XML with the correct Language In English

I'm Using this on my Hermes And It's Running Flawlessly. I installed the Cab, I Changed Parameters in The Cube Config UnFortunately u can't change Display to English. You Actually Need to get that Picture The app is using with the word in English. I also Have HTC album As well as Music From my Storage card Directed to As Default for Music And photos. Only a Matter of time b4 People Start Cooking this into there Roms and b4 someone Chops it Up to make an all Enlgish Version. Nice Find and time will make this Great for the hermes.

I just used the restore defaults tab in "about" and everything is in english
Works flawlessly and doesnt slow down the device either.

i have shap's 3.54b in italian.i installed the cab,restart my tytn and i get an error at star. something about no digital sign...

No funciona en mi tytn... lo instalé en distintos carpetas, en la memoria del dispositivo, en la tarjeta de memoria... pero nada.
Cuando reinicio el sistema sale un cartel que dice que no se puede encontrar el fichero touchflocube.exe o que no se ha firmado...no se...

i installed it on my cell and works great , little bit slow in the cube with the contacts nothing we can support

Hola Arreguin, extraje el .cab y lo pase a la pda estándo sincronizado con el pc, después estándo en la pda lo instalé. (probé instalarlo en la memoria del dispositivo, en diferentes partes "my document, raiz, windows, etc" y también hice lo mismo en la tarjeta de memoria, pero me sale error al reiniciarse la pda después de la instalación... no se que pasa... gracias.

Yes that's Exactly What I"m talking about...

Siempre estamos para ayudar amigo, las gapps de ics se instalan igual que una rom justamente despues de haber instalado la rom.
Ese problema de la señal se debe a que la rom tiene unos archivos de red que tienen que ser modificados, ademas a esta rom le falta la opcion de advance en la chal se puede usar el baseband switcher y seleccionar un baseband con el cual funcione nuestro 3g.
The ics gapps should be installed like any other rom.
You install the rom and inmediatly install gapps.

Are you using multiboot? I have not seen any error at this moment, I will make some test to post all issues I find.
Im using it without multiboot.

No Superuser has been an issue with the last 4 Epsylon3 releases with CM9 on multiboot according to the Defy forums. I just finished installing CM9 on multiboot, but didn't use it because I'm uploading CM9 unused so whoever decides do DL it can use the First Run Setup Wizard....I'll test it out and post back within a half an hour.
I checked....no superuser on multiboot....the option doesn't even appear in the settings menu...Same as on the Defy.

Yeah, that sounds right. I'm using multiboot to test ICS. I really like the new Gapps, so I might switch to CM9 as primary anyways!

Well, the new Play Music sucks, or at least Google songs on the cloud part does...Although you can just copy songs from Google Play's cache...but 3 songs were 30mb, and that'll eat bandwidth up in no time....bad idea Google.
@Josuearisty--Have you ever tried using a $20 prepaid Visa for Amazon\Google Markets? Its what I do for my free songs\app of the day, and might be a solution for Non-Americans to access American Markets along with using Market Enabler (Link). Basicly, Market Enabler spoofs Market into thinking your from a different country. I'm actually going to start including Market Enable in my roms to help out international users.
I hope this helps you foreign guys out.

I never tried to buy songs off amazon or google.
Once I try to buy an app from amazon I used Market Enabler and no success.
I will try somethings later, I like some north americans songs, Im American too even not living in US

Wow, I never noticed. Thanks. Now I have to update my threads....I always edited build.prop for LED and Multitouch...I didn't even notice baseband or compass; I saw then on Epsy's last rom I used and figured they'd be there too.
Is this a Multiboot glitch like Superuser, or just a glitch in general???

For us who live outside US we need to change baseband switcher so that our 3G works.
But why quarx is not adding it to the rom?
I think we need to let him know about it, will it go forever or what?

Im using CM9 in my second bravo without multiboot, and it is not there!

Actually, the US Baseband is wrong as well as the APN. I just never noticed because baseband is one of the things I change without even thinking about it. After Months of using Defy Roms, old habits are hard to break. (Plus I did baseband switch before I realized it was bad APN)

I'm having a Bluetooth issue. When paired with my car, the music drops at a regular interval. I've been messing with CPU governors and thought that might be the cause, but the problem persists when the phone's at full throttle, too.
Anyone else notice Bluetooth connection issues, or have a suggestion for me?

You dont need adb installed on your PC!
TIPs: pass MOTOBLUR SETUP.
When you are on the begining of motoblur setup after you flashed your phone, (long press menu) to use the keyboard then type: eebluroff.

Download the zip file and unzip it wherever you want.
Enable "USB debugging" on the phone before proceeding.
Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging.
1 - Connect your phone to PC (wait for your PC to install drivers) and click on "Install Gingerbreak & 2ndInitDefy".
Note: When commands window closes automatically, check if Gingerbreak and Defy 2init are installed on the phone (MOTOROLA SIDELOADER IS INSTALLED TOO to enable non-market apps), if they are everything is going fine.
2 - Unplug the phone from your PC.
3 - Open Gingerbreak installed on your phone and click on "Root device", (it will take a while) later your phone will reboot when completed.
4 - When your phone boots, go to 2ndinitDefy installed on your phone and download a recovery (try lastest version).
5 - Turn off the phone and turn it on, when you see the led light is blue press volume down button.
You are alredy into bootmenu ready to flash!

I tested it on my PC but I need somebody else to test it, I have adb installed on my PC, need somebody who does not have it installed.
You wont need superoneclick anymore to root!
I will make a video later! I installed Ubuntu I will try it in linux to make this work for every OS and why not MAC OS!

You dont need adb installed on your PC!
Download the file, unzip it wherever you want.
Remember to enable "USB debugging" before proceding.
Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging.
Then click on "Install Gingerbreak & 2ndInitDefy"
1 - Open Gingerbreak installed on your phone and click on "Root device", your phone will reboot when completed.
2 - Go to 2ndinitDefy installed on your phone and download a recovery (try lastest version).

Es mejor Gingleblur q froyo cuales son las ventajas y las contras...saludos amigo....

May I know if there is a way to switch from CWM recovery to TWRP? I tried to simply flash the zip for TWRP but then my bravo won't start...

Voy a hacer guias en español para cada thread que he creado
Esto es para si algo te ha salido mal y tu telefono no quiere iniciar quedandose solamente en el logo de moto y tienes que por desgracia FLASHEAR el SBF de Froyo con RSD LITE.
Entonces despues que estes en Froyo, podras seguir estos pasos y no tener que usar superoneclick, en mi opinion esto es mas facil.
Pruebalo cuando puedas!

I try doing it too but no success, I think you should flash first a custom rom, then you will be able to flash touch recovery and it will for sure work.
I will let know about some test I make!

I'll be honest, I didn't try it, but it will work. That's really not a bad idea and would work with any phone Gingerbreak works on....You should release that in Android General.
I would use it, I'm just too lazy to flash an sbf and then set my phone back up again. I'm happy with my Bravo for the moment...and its my onlyl phone...That really is a simple, yet useful, solution.

but i dont click root on Gingerbreak , but on my phone still have superuser icon ? it success or not

Maybe you did not follow steps as you should, I think I have to make steps easier to understand, so that noobs and advanced users can do it all.

amigo podra subir un video para saber con mayor facilida como se hace y las instrucciones en español bueno tambien para ingles claro... creo que novatos como yo ...avemos muchos en este foro y estariamos muy agradecicdo con usted amigo josuearisty ...
oye amigo otra duda que pasa si mi pc tiene adb instalado.... puede ocacionar un error en mi motorola bravo ...?
otra duda por que cuando baje su archivo mi pc me lo detecto como un virus...

Esta semana estare algo ocupado, el video creo que lo hare la semana que viene.
Usar el adb del archivo no te va a ocasionar ningun problema, ni a tu telefono ni a la computadora.
La aplicacion gingerbreak tiene un exploit dentro y los antivirus lo identifican como un virus, solo desactivalo si lo vas a usar.

If you have adb installed on your pc, using this one will cause no problem to the phone or your pc.
Your antivirus detects gingerbreak as a virus because of an exploit command inside the apk file, you can deactivate your antivirus and use it with no problem, no risk with it.

I'll add, s1c/rage against the cage/gingerbreak all show up as viruses because they are. Not kill you PC virus, but virus none the less. Technically they're exploits, but still get picked up by scanners.

Gonna need some testers for LINUX and MAC, when its ready I will you know people!
