VC1.6 HTC TOUCH BT CONFIRMATION ...a cry 4 help :(_ - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

Please... if you will... accept my cry 4 help ....and direct me to a simple registry change that will allow my MS Voicecommand 1.6 to accept "confirmations" from my Bluetooth on my Telus HTC TOUCH (elfin).
I would love to do a ROM upgrade, but I don't have the time because I never heard of a ROM upgrade till I started researching my current problem, and therefore I am not enlightened enough to efficiently learn, namely, how to do it for 1 and the fear due to lack of this knowledge(will it void my warrantee? could I destroy my phone to a point a teck would have to fix it? can I restore to my original ROM?--and questions such as these. So unless I absolutely need to, meaning the rite person did not read this post to direct me to the correct post, I will have to upgrade my ROM, but I sure would love the directions to just make the appropriate Reg. change if it is possible?
Thank You,
Telus Mobility

Hey buddy, you have a Vogue, not an Elf! I don't have a fix for you though.

umm ya... guess that's why I posted in the Vogue forum "Buddy-Boy" but thanks for mentioning that you don't have a fix "though" lol

Err, well I believe he replied to your original post because...

You stated you had an Elfin in this line, which is incorrect. If you have a Vogue, you have a Vogue. The Elf, the original "Touch", has a Texas Instruments OMAP 200mhz processor and 64 meg of RAM... the Elfin, or the enhanced "Touch" has the same processor, but twice as much RAM. Note that both phones are GSM. The Vogue, on the other hand, is CDMA technology, completely different than GSM, and has a Qualcomm MSM7500 dual-core chipset clocked at 400mhz and is equipped with 128 meg of RAM. And if I remember correctly, (I'm from the U.S., so am not sure) Telus Mobility is a CDMA provider, not GSM.
Friendly, cost-free advice: Being rude to people who respond to your posts is called "flaming" and it won't get you alot of help around here.
On a side note, I don't have a fix for you either. I experience the same problems. One WORKAROUND is to disable confirmations in the VC1.6 control panel. This will eliminate the need for VC1.6 to request a confirmation, but can lead to a frustratingly large number of, "Sorry, wrong number" calls. Use at your own risk.

Yes you are rite, I know I have a vogue. I just forgot too change it in my signature.
Anyway... see this link for a complete spec comparison between the Vogue - Elf - Elfin

anyone have a fix for this yet? it's a minor issue but something I'd love to have

How to upgrade from wm2002 to wm2003 or higher

Hi i'm new to this forum so idon't know ifthis has been posted yet. I have a T-Mobile Pocket PC 2003. I would like to know if there is anyway to update the operating system to a newer one and what is involved with updating the ROM. Thank you for your time.

helps to know what make and model of phone you have, look on the main index page for your phone and look there, only certain pones can be upraded and the info you want is there.
T-mobile pocket pc 2003
thats not enough it pretty much the name of every windows mobile phone tmobile ever released and roms are unique for each model
they add naming like
mda or mdaII or mdaIII ....
Pardon my ignorance.
Is there a wm2002 phone? What is HP Jornada, wm2002?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jornada
and yes wallaby orginaly came with pocketpc 2002
about early windows CE phones then this was the first i saw
http://www.planetomni.com/GSM_SEMN_sx45_DTL.shtml
running not pocketpc but pure windows CE 3
I guess it would be the HTC wallaby. It looks exactly like that but it says "T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition" on it.
I can't really find much on it so I wasn't sure which phone it was.
http://www.romkitchen.de/
Ok I was looking over the rom kitchen site at all the informationprovided and reading the manuals and what not and i still don't understand what i'm reading.Well I understand it but i don't want to ruin my phoneso does anyone know of a simple way of explaining what to do with this stuff to us who are just getting started out? Your time and patience are appreciated.

interested in learning more as well
Hi all:
Although I am not a developer, I have found this a great resource for info beyond other forums.
Like ziggy88, I went to the ROM KITCHEN and took a look.
I am using a Hitachi G1000 WM 2002 device on Sprint.
This last week I have found an abundance of info on this device and just before was was contemplating upgrading. With the new info I have found, I am going to hold off.
So, it is an Intel PXA255 XScale 400mhz processor.
Is that enough info to get started with getting a link to look into the posibility of upgrading the OS?
Thanks, Jay
roms are uniqe to a device and cant be used on other devices then the model it was made for 2 HTC devices cant even use the same rom if they are not the same model
not sure about your Hitachi but some of the pda's from Hitachi dident even have a flash rom but a hardcoded rom which can never be upgraded

GPS activation coming!

First let me start off by saying thank you to everyone for all your great work and excellent posts, i have been a guest and member for a very long time but never need to post or had anything to contribute. thanks again now onto the GPS activation, i know this is a rather touchy subject for some so please dont bash if you disagree.
- I am switch from the 8525 (at&t) to the mogul (sprint) b/c i am saving 170$ although i loved my 8525. While learning and viewing the sprint forums for information about the mogul i found they have been having in depth conversation about the GPS.
1 - the gps is not believed to be stand alone
2 - the antenna issue from what i could read could or could not be there as sprint users took pictures on the phone and found what should be the gps antenna. but regard less when unlocked we should be able to A-GPS (a sort of triangulation between towers to give a approximate position).
3 - further proof that the gps must be able to work other than for emergency's is sprint's release of the EV-D0 rev. a ROM intended to unlock the gps in response to the TILT from ATT.
proof from HTC's site
"HTC is currently developing a separate ROM update which enables the EV-DO Rev. A and GPS capabilities that are already built into the Mogul hardware. Sprint and HTC plan to make this software ROM available in early 1Q 2008. We would also like to extend our thanks to those customers that have taken the time to identify and report these issues to us."
It would be my assumption but this is where i could be wrong and would like to open debate. the ROM should be able to be hacked allowing other hermes to unlock theyre GPS for use with other applications.
hope this excites some of you and gives you hope of one day getting your "gps enabled" or disabled hermes depending on how you look at it to work with tom tom or telenav etc..
omg,
i can´t believit, jejej.
If coming true, this will be the best notice i´ve heard about hermes.
Many thanks dsh897, i will follow this thread

Google is your friend: http://www.america.htc.com/support/mogul/software-downloads.html
(about 2/3 the way down the page)
Thats a great news indeed
I still doubt abt the possibility of unlocking GPS in our Hermes.
As do I unfortunately, but more than happy to be proven wrong
noobish questions...
may i ask why only for the mogul? Is this something all hermes owners can benefit from?
great!!!
I hope so
hermes ๆๆๆๆ
I am a little confused...... I thought it was widely agreed that it was not a software problem but a hardware problem..
Have I missed something ?
I thought this too - that there was no actual antenna hooked up to the GPS pins or something?
I am not sure what's the hardware similarities between hermes and mogul, but gps for hermes was discussed before...look in to this thread for more details

Yeah, I followed this thread at the time. Is the mogul a rebranded hermes or is it a different phone ?
from what i'm seeing the mogul hardware is similar to the tilt and not the tytn ( they carry the same processor).. this meens it's not compatible with the hermes..... i could be wrong

It looks that way it has a qualcomm prosessor instead of the samsung
Guys weve been here before, check the threads on this.
The GPS hardware has been woken up and functions correctly.....however the pins are not connected to a suitable antenna. The most i detected on the Hermes was 2 sattelites and these were not real fixes either.
A hardware mod is required to get the GPS working on the hermes which can be done however wouldnt it be easier to just grab a cheap bluetooth module and settle with it?
Here are link 1 and link 2 to the old GPS for Hermes threads. GPS driver link. And yes Hermes has Samsung processor, but Hermes' radio chip is made by Qualcomm And that is the chip that matters for GPS). But as Mr. Vanx said there is no available antenna.
maybe some people would be willing to do a hardware mod, if it can be done

I followed both threads at the time with great interest. I wasn't sure if on occassion, this was something new that had been discovered previously or something that could have been missed. Obviously in this instance neither is the case

That is very intresting, I'm intrigued to see if HTC rolls out a rom for Hermes like you describe (though I doubt it the Mogul has different chipsets, this issue has been explored at length in the forums). That said triangulation based GPS is already available for free for all windows mobile phones with the latest version of google maps, the thread is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348310
Install the new map, and click the my location option (right button top option) it will provide you with your triangulated location and is usually pretty close.
Seeing as Sprint (and therefore the Mogul) and AT&T (Hermes) use totally different radio technologies, I'm surprised that no one mentioned this earlier.
The Hermes is a GSM phone, operating on the GSM cell systems around the world.
The Mogul, being a Sprint phone, should function primarily on CDMA, just like Verizon.
That said, the hardware differences alone (processor aside) should make this discussion moot in my opinion. You just can't use a CDMA radio ROM on a GSM radio... and I would be highly surprised if the Mogul and Hermes were anything more than just similar looking phones.
Just as a side note... Google Maps now works moderately well on the Hermes, even without a GPS. I'm unsure if this is due to AT&T adding location information or to GMM being able to figure it out, but my phone knows where it is when I run GMM.

2020i upgrade

Hi
I am totaly new in this line of hardware, i just received an qtek 2020i to try if i like pda.
but this thing is running on win ce2003
can i upgrade this PDA to wm 5 or wm6, and if it's possible how dies it work?
and what do i need?
Hi,
Congratulations for Qtek 2020i. It is one of the best PDAs available, hardware-wise.
However, I am afraid that there is no upgrade to WM 5 or 6 available...
Some say that there never will be...
Head off for the Alpine forum, for more details.

P.

what is the alpine forum?
and why is it so good while it cant be used voor wm5 or 6, it's a rather old PDA I geuss and i have to soft reset quit often.
i read in some forums it should be possible to upgrade using w, 5 from another system like an htc.
and another question what kind of software could be used on it?
cause after every reset i've to insert my appointments again
Here, at xda-developers, we have several generic sub-forums (like Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking, where we are currently posting) and other sub-forums, model specific, where the model is discussed in detail.
Alpine is the internal HTC codename of the Qtek 2020i. And, yes, here we have model specific sub-forums for the Alpine/Qtek 2020i. Here is the link to them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=249
Qtek 2020i, despite the 2003SE that it was shipped with, has very good hardware details (fast 520Mhz CPU, 128 RAM, Wi-Fi, large screen...) that might make it a good solution for someone who is not dependent on the latest operating systems... Even today, is is still competitive, which is rather interesting.
Also, keep in mind that many great software still run in 2003(SE). For instance, Resco Explorer, Tomtom6, SK tools, most of SPB software... etc.
The Alpine could never be upgraded to WM5 because no WM5 OS drivers for the CPU and other details were ever released or found... There are several threads in the Alpine sub forums about this.
If you have issues with yours, like spontaneous (soft) resets there are several possible causes, like depleted (back-up) battery, conflicting software, etc. Use a good back-up software, like SPB backup, and read a lot in the Alpine forums.

P.

Would anyone be interested in an iPAQ H5450 for ROM development?

Hey,
I have 3 iPAQ 5450's sitting here, and I could probably spare one for development if anyone would actually be interested in it. Note that I only have one working cradle at the moment (might be able to get another if serious inquiries are made).
I'm fairly annoyed with a few aspects of WM2003, as I'm used to my HTC Herald (T-Mobile Wing). Simple things like no task manager like in WM5/6 (can't remember which is on the Herald), the the tray half-way working like I think it should, etc.
Here are the specs on the unit (shamelessly copy-pasted):
Processor: Intel XScale PXA250 400 MHz (I think this is actually faster than the Herald's OMAP 300MHz?)

By the way, I just tried to edit this message, and have to wait just to edit? I'm not posting a new post or thread, so why does it make me wait?? Could I get my account reviewed and whatever flag set? The account might not be used a whole lot, but I've been registered since 5/28/09!!
Hi,
- Can you dump the rom of your device like here: http://www.a701.org/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=465 ?
Regards, ansar.
I might be able to do that... Would the ROM from BootBlaster (URL wont work, "To prevent spam to the forums, new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed." -- I've had the account over a YEAR now!!) work? I already have two of those as I tried Familiar (OPIE)
Hi,
Dump the three .raw files i.e. part00.raw, part01.raw, part02.raw (and /or part03.raw may be not needed if it is your storage card)
Then zip/rar them, upload to rapidshare and when logged in xda send me a private post with the link (in text mode).
If you already have the last hp rom upgrade file, if not download it, and upload this too.
Regards, ansar.
I'm not sure exactly where to get the utilities that are listed in the Mio thread you linked to. There were no links in the thread.
From what I understand, BootBlaster saves gzipped images of several areas: Boot, root, and [something else]. I already know how to use bootblaster, dd, and gzip. Hopefully it will have the information you need.
As far as uploading the HP WM2003 upgrade, I'm not too sure if I'm supposed to do that or not, as it is a paid upgrade? It is what is installed on all 3 devices, so I guess if someone will be getting the extra they might need it
WM5/6 needs at least 64MB ROM.
And porting device from WM2003 to WM5/6 is not an easy thing.
In past only 2 or 3 hTC phones did get custom ROM update from WM2003 to WM5/6.
I would suggest you to sell those iPAQs and buy something newer.
Doesn't really *have* to be a full upgrade to WM5/6... if there are ways to get some of the same functions over, I'd be happy. But WM5/6 would be kinda nice (though probably would be bloated).
One fo the other reasons not to just toss these units is that they are actually more powerful than some, if not most, of the cellphones being sold in the US right now. Hell, my Wing isn't *that* old... and it only has a 200MHz CPU. These iPAQs have double the CPU power. They might not have the greatest amount of memory, but if I'm right, the bootloader installed by bootblaster supports booting from a CF/SD. So the flash memory may not be an issue. (Not to mention that the filestore on the iPAQ will actually go poof if the main/backup batteries die, so sd/cf might be a better overall option).
You can't really compare 400MHz CPU made in 2002 and 200MHz CPU made in 2005.
If iPAQ CPU does have more MHz it dosen't mean it's faster.
BootBlaster is for Linux and Windows Mobile CAN'T boot from SD/CF card.
Not even to mention that iPAQ does have slow NOR-flash, instead of fast NAND-flash used in all new devices.
For point 1 & 2, that does make sense, but isn't there a standard to how MHz are measured? I guess I could see if there is a program to calculate the mips on both, though really mips isn't exactly perfect measurement either. But... the iPAQ actually runs many things I've much smoother than the Herald, which is why I assume that the iPAQ hardware may be a bit more robust. I could be wrong, as I'm a computer guy, not really handheld-savvy.
For 3, "Note that the Linux Bootloader will also boot PocketPC". Its just a bootloader. Much as GRUB will load linux and windows, the bootloader here seems to not care what it loads.
One thing I didn't know is that the bootloader couldn't boot from the SD/CF into another OS. I could swear I'd heard of someone doing so somewhere, though I can't find the page now. I figured the hald-held would have some form of BIOS, and that it perhaps could see the SD slot, similar to how a PC can boot from USB (or grub can as well).
Not sure how the NOR and NAND flash would affect it other than in read/write times. Again, this is something I'm pretty new to.
Anyhow, the point of my posting this thread was to see if anyone wanted to do some ROM work, perhaps some things could be used in WM2003 as well as WM5/6. I'm sure there are some things that could be done, and improvements made, with the machine, as it isn't 'bad' hardware. Granted, it's not a cell-phone, but more of a PDA with wireless and bluetooth capability. But it is something that can be made useful, instead of collecting dust in a closet, or perhaps an exhibit case I do have an old working Commodore 128D that is more an 'exhibit' than anything else... talk about a blast from the past!
I hate to see things set to the way-side just because there is something new and shiny out. Heck, I even re-purpose old-as-dirt PCs into useful things... I have a 500MHz BSD router that kicks the pants off any consumer router that costs $200+. I have another old 1.7GHz machine that acts as a CCTV/DVR. So it is natural for me to find useful things to do with the old iPAQs. Doesn't help that the Herald eats batteries
So, if I can get the old dog to learn some new tricks... it would be nice. I'm just trying to see if there is someone out there that knows *how* to teach the thing some new tricks.
What I want to say to you is that most likely no one will do any ROM cooking for h5450, WM2003 ROM modification was to hard for most users and never got any easy-to-use tools. Questions like yours pop up from time to time and no one has made any progress so far.
I cook ROMs for hx4700 and hx2000 series iPAQs they come from 2004 and 2005. Keeping them up-to-date with WM6.5 ROMs now was only possible because they did receive WM5 update.
ps not all old dogs can learn new tricks.
So I guess I'm kicking a dead dog? Wish there was a way to get WM5/6 on these things then... I wonder how much RAM the cellphone drivers/software use... if it is enough to get it below 48MB (tall order)... but yeah, I'll shaddup now
Duplicated post, delete me
From other side, I've heard that some ipaqs on the very beggining were sold with PPC Phone Edition OS (when you insert sim card to this "non working" slot under battery, you'll see gsm icon). If somebody has got such, and can post a rom dump (using bootblaster) to me, i'll be grateful.
Why?
I found a prototype motherboard, probably from iPaq h56xx (h5610), and it is to be identical to 54xx one, only rf module seems to be different.
Here is a thought.. Wonder if Android would run on these things...
Sent from my LG-VM670 using XDA
If you still have one to spare I would love developing a rom for it. If you can tell me what your looking for from the rom then I could work on one.
Yeah, still got 2 of these, could easily spare one. Right now the only things I've really been using the one for is a remote control for my TV. Lost my universal.
Would love to be able to get something going for it though. Something my kid could play with, perhaps a reader app. Just not sure if any exist for something as old as wm2003.
Right now the cash is tight, but once i get some to spare for shipping, I'll update ya, so you can tell me where to mail the thing.
Sent from my LG-VM670 using XDA
Is there a chance you could send one my way? I would love to work on and develope a rom for it!
Sure. Just need to get out of the financial nightmare I'm in so i can afford shipping.
Sent from my LG-VM670 using XDA
I will foot the shipping bill for you no problem. Thank you so much for this opprotunity I have never developed for this device before. Where are you shipping it from? Send me a private message with any info you need from me and ill reply with my address and any of the info. Thanks again!
Let me know
Let me know how this goes as I have a h5450 and was looking for something to do with it as it is at me mothers and been on charge for some time lol as well if you have any stable runs I will test

Kyocera Honey Bee 101K (Softbank)

Hi im thinking about purchasing the following phone by Softbank, it is a dual-core Kyocera 101K Honey Bee called by (Softbank).
here is the phone with the specs please check google for more information, because as first time/ new member i can not post any links
it is sold with android 2.3, i would like to be able to update it to version 4.x.x
how can i do that? is that possible?
CPU is called APE5R is an ARM Cortex-A9 dual core Clocked at 1.2GHZ + POWERVRTM SGX543 MPTM graphics chip.
is there a way to bring this thing up to date? it is from last year, or should i give up, because if the Carrier or the manufacturer does not offer any update then its hopeless??
is there a general way to unlock and upgrade android phones?
is there an other website besides xda-dev? the community seems quiet small here, or maybe nobody has interest of explaining
i wonder if there is actually any other (more active ) community on the web besides xda-dev wich does not concentrate only on a few brands of android based phones. who can answer at least some of my questions.
still nobody not even a hint? what about the mods here are there any?
I personally have never heard of that device so I'm not surprised no one has been able to help you out. Still, you've now bumped your thread 4 times, so no more please. If someone searches for your device's name, they'll likely come across your thread.
