I am just looking for the cad of the new wimdows mobile 6.1 internet browser
If anyone has it can they please post it..
I messed with trying to extract it.....but I really don't know what i'm doing yet... It looks like ie and sms should be possible.... Hopefully someone figures it out. I gave up....
Chris
So far I think it might still be buggy though. I've tried 3 different 6.1 Roms (PDAViet, Schaps, Pays) and the IE runs much slower than 6.0, enough to where I'm switching back to 6.0.

I can confirm this. 6.1 is VERY slow. The ONLY added feature is the Zoom feature and it is extremely laggy. Multiple times when zooming out a web page it would take 10-15 seconds... long enough that I thought the phone was frozen.

Second that, I am impressed by how much faster IE 6.1 is compared to 6.0. It is actually usable now!
Wow, makes me want to flash again... after going back to 6.0 last night.
I;m using Schaps 6.1 and no problems with the IE here. After I figured out which programs were compatible with 6.1, that is.

ePocrates (medical software)--required hard reset d/t looping reset; this blows as I am a paramedic and the database was awesome tool to have;
Mobireader--didn't loop reset but it would hang and needed soft reset and the remove it from programs--also blows as I have several ebooks in mobireader format
quickmenu--locks up the system and slows it down horribly--would have been a cool replacement for the menu though
SPB Phone Suite--hard reset the phone without me having to touch the button ;-)...that was nice; not really losing alot of functionality but the call filter and voice mail counter was nice--most irritating because I paid for it and can't use it now
IM+ -- loads fine but when you try to connect, it closes the window out and you can't connect...not really important as I'm not an IM junkie *anymore*
Might be more but thats all I can remember for now.

That was common with all the 6.1 ROMS, not just that program. I knows PAYs Rom fixed whatever was causing it, haven't flashed back to 6.1.
Is there anything totally new in 6.1 that makes a good reason to update?
At the moment I'm using Schap's 3.54b german ROM... don't like to have to deal with english on the phone...
So the IE got a new feature, zooming? Like the opera-browser rendering the website in the original resolution and zooming in? Or how does it work? I really miss a search function, if I remember right there isn't one in the Opera browser, too. The zooming in Opera is good, though, even if I like the Iphone-browser more, specially with the multitouch-gestures.. but it lacks UMTS and a working keyboard, so I don't give my TyTN out of my hand!

Anymore? Did you found a better free tool for that? I did like the Uploadfeature for photos (also if I don't know what they do with the uploaded data...) of Agile Messenger. But they suck if they want 50$ for it. For my old nokia 3650 they took only 19EURO for the client...
I did try Fring, IM+ and the old official ICQ-PDA beta, too. But all are not stable or not really userfreandly. AgileMobile was the only one that did fit my needs nearly, but they want too much money.
kind regards
edit: oh and by the way: I installed the cab, it works so far... but where is the zoom-function and how does it work? I only find a "high resolution" in the view-menu, but if I click on it nothing happens...? I installed it to the memorycard and to the devicememory, too. No difference.

Hi everybody
I have the main question - what are the main advantages of WM6.1 comparing to WM6.0.
Is WM6.1 worth enought for change if we says about so many mystakes in it?
Sorry fo my english.
Bigfoot
I'm interested too, and what about Battery usage & Speed (memory usage) ?
thanks
There´s quite a few threads with the same question and the answer is usually the same....Try the roms out.
To me is kind of rude when someone says"this one is better than that one" or stuff like that, because these rom cooks are using their time just for us and they don´t deserve those comparisons.....so like I said give different roms a shot and compare yourself.

WM 6.1. can be managed from System Center Mobile Device Center (see http://www.microsoft.com/systemcenter/mobile/default.mspx). Thta's a big advantage for the large compagnies
The bluetooth pairing doesn't need the password 0000 toggled in.
Memory & battery usage are still the same.

After many efforts to work with WM6.1 and with my apps I finally gave up: for the indevidual (and not companies) there still many bugs comparing to the stable WM6: annoying soft-reset, many apps are well integraded with WM6.1 etc.
Sorry, but I do not see how WM6.1 is better than WM6.
but are any of the roms real 6.1...or just lookie likey?????
i have been using PDAVIET 3.08.61.29WWE and it is excellent. I have many apps loaded and have not encountered a single problem. This rom is blazing fast and supports everything i have thrown at. 6.1 has been perfect for me i dont have any problems as i read. i literally install 1 to 2 apps per day and not a single issue. before this i was using FInixNOver WM6.1 and same thing not a single problem.
in fact, i was looking for WM6.1 because i wanted a new GUI ... but microsoft appears to be as same as always ... just sells us old **** that hadn't changed since Windows Mobile 2003 ... poorly unacceptable ... like microsoft ... like always ... i'm just fed up with theses poors OSs, i hope the iPhone2 will get out soon, i will sell my trinity as soon as i can and get this really GOOD device !
there will never be improvements on WM from microsoft for a long time, everyone will have to wait until at least 1 year before seeing the first devices coming with WM7, so i prefer going to a brand that do good human-machine interfaces, and the iPhone is doing really good !
why would we have to stay to WM ?! the iPhone do the Exchange Sync ... i just don't understand anymore microsoft ...
Question about pocket excell and word
I red somewhere that WM 6.1 pocket word and excell documents are in PC full format and for WM6.0 this format is only pocket. Is that true?
To Simkand
Hi
Iphone ? ha ha ha ha
It's so buggy and you need itunes to use it .......
If you want another interface, try ifonz or another one available here
I use now WM6.1 on 3 devices : a trinity, a blue angel and a smartphone : so far so good
And I am not a big fan of Bill !
iPhone
I bought two 8 Gig iPhones the first day they came out. One for myself, and one for my wife. The very next day, I returned mine (10% return charge).
My wife loves it because it's VERY simple to use, and you cannot mess things up easily. But for me, you have to HACK the PISS out of it to get it to do ANYTHING! It's network is dog slow, no MMS, no GPS, no SD slot, no programs to install, (untill I hacked it), it crashes more often than my WM6 devices, JOBS Locks it down every chance he gets, iTunes SUCKS and crashes Windows! I will admit, the screen and the multi-touch is impressive! It makes a GREAT iPod, but a usable communications tool, it's not.
Even with all the hacks on it, it still does not compare to WM6. WM has litterally thousands of software programs you can use freely for just about anything. I'm sure in time, the iPhone will get closer, but for now, not for me.
My biggest pet peeve was the fact that my appointments would not show up on the main screen when I first turn it on. That's something I insist on with my WM phone.
If you want a great TOY with a fantastic screen, then it's fine.
i think differences are only little.. part of it is the sms system. 6.1 transform sms system into some kind of a chat window. well this is quite good considering it is easier to read the history messages

Why not trying the new SPB Mobile Shell 2.0?
I am very happy with this.
I apologize for getting side tracked.
iPhone does have a great GUI, it's just locked down making it hard to modify, at least for now.
You are right, WM 6.1 GUI is basically the same. Thanks Bill!
WM 6.1 adds the threaded SMS as mentioned before. It IS slower, but I prefer this layout.
The task manager now shows a LOT more information including running processes, memory consumption, & CPU consumption.
I'm not having any of the problems reported by other users (ie: program incompatibilities, crashes, bluetooth, activesync, etc...), so it's MUCH quicker running on my phone.
Bluetooth is Much more reliable, and simple to hook up (0000 is automatic).
Browsing in File Explorer is Much Quicker.
It might just be me, but my speaker phone seems a bit louder.
Managed Programs as mentioned by Stingray66.
Wireless Lan seems to have less trouble for me. Stays connected without having to set it up constantly.
Just my experiences.
6.1 is perfect for my Trinity, RAM memory avalaible about 25 Mb, A2DP is perfect and direct, without password, multitasking in best way.-
I don´t like the easy touch interface, but in fact, with SPB pocket plus interface is working perfect and with your own custom interface.-
I can see youtube and flash videos, no problem with video and audio files and 100% compatible with Corecodec media player.-
In my own opinion is the best OS for my trinity.-
Thanks Landy.-

I agree and .NET 3.5 can be added too. With the tool of Modaco (.NET Configuration) it's possible to switch between .NET versions and even configure the version for each application.

Hi.
What are you all talking about. There is no official WM6.1 for Trinity, all this ROM - is home made. This is just vinaigrette, mess of different ROM, as well as WM6.
I am a bit of a newb to the hermes and was wondering what is the best/most stable rom for wm6.?? (I'm on orange UK by the way)
Would appreciate any opinions and links to the roms.
I have spent ages reading through various posts but keep getting lost/confused.
I have done the hard spl upgrade and have a sd card ready for the upgrade. Now it's the big question of which rom.
Would like one that is ready to go with most of the basics already there rather than one of the really lite ones I think, but not sure which would be best ?
I probably should say it's an M3100
Thanks in advance....steve
Which one that is best for you, might not be the one that is best for someone else. Each cook has their own style.
Try several, I would suggest CRC's, Tai's, Josh's, or kareme's
You really will have to try several to see what fits you best.
I have not tried any of the 6.5 roms out, mainly because it seems there are still bugs to be worked out.
Don't bother with WM6
There's not really that significant a jump from WM5 - and you can get an official WM6 ROM!
IMHO 6.1 is the way to go, for now...
Spoiler Alert!!
Umm.. I've been trying the WM 6.5 Version XXX76 from Tai... I am mighty impressed... I thot it'd need lots of ram to keep 6.5 running.. this is fast man... 6.5 though there are no paradigm shifts from 5,6 or 6.1... even the beta seems better that 6.1...
currently my rnaking would be
1. 6.5 ( I am liking waht I am seeing.. this is the speed king... 76 fro TAI is stable as any other ROM)
2. 6 (faster... than most of the other Versions and not plain as 5
3. 6.1 (lots of fixes on this but slow.. slow...slow)

There are 2 new 6.5 ROMs worth trying
I just bought a 8525 for $125 USD. It's awesome. I first settled on one of Schap's ROMS - Schaps_WM6Pro_Hermes_4.31_WWE_Full.
It was really nice but now it is sadly behind the times. There are 2 new 6.5 ROMs worth trying:
1 21189_Lite_V9_Update1
2 21193_Lite_V10
I installed the 1st and stopped there because it is so awesome. The Hermes no longer has to hide in the shadows of all the new $600 Pda/phones out there.
One thing about 6.5 is that there is no "programs" section per se in the titanium feature(?). So I went to a SPBplus4 Today Screen.
It's much more convenient for accessing fexplorer and task mgr.I did do an auto hide on the tabs and minimized the icons so it would look like one of the newer phones. Appreciate all the hard work everyone put in.
My ROM request (if anyone's interested) is for a full featured 6.5 -something like K's ROM with TAI's finesse dominating - BUT without IE or OFFICE or WM built in. I am surprised all the great cooks include these. I have found Skyfire, TCPMP work great and I don't need Office at all.
And the START MENU sections on the 6.5 should go directly to the same categories as before except more like :
Programs, SYSTEM Settings, Connection Settings, Personal Settings, TODAY settings, TOOLS (regedit, fexplore, taskmgr), GAMES, PICTURES, VIDEOS, MUSIC, AND the option to add or customize your own AND be able to have it show before Programs, and stay there after a SR!
I am a newbie but I know what I want. Thanks again to all the cooks for making carrying a phone everywhere exciting and useful and for showing the big companies how to really do it. They keep putting out these improved ROMs (performance-wise) but they have no idea what to do with them.
Jupiter and Titan from AZ USA.
I am also trying to figure out how to automatically add my apps from the SD card after a HR. Autorun or something like that. Anyone know of a thread that shows a newbie how to do it?

Yes Josh what do you mean?? i've also downgrade back to WM 6.
I've tried your WM 6.5 Its great but for now im looking forward for the hybrid rom.
I personally like Tai_SW's 21109 rom. It seems to be really stable though that could be because its a hybrid WM6.1/WM6.5 rom.
Have 2 Hermes, on my main I use 21109 but test others on my "spare"...
I don't tend to like the Hex or titanium roms as the RAM is low and storage space seems to abot 45Mb or less while I use about 50 Mb for the apps I like. I need to have as much RAM as possible too so I don't end up with system freezes when I run a REALLY RAM hungry app.
Cheers...
binky11 is the most stable ever, but it will be the perfect rom when manill2d them inside.
PERFECT
thanks
Tai_SW's wm6.1 lite roms are superb, fast, stable, & lot's of free memory!!

I am very satisfied with NFSFAN's WM 6.1 ROM and like the Manila 2D features on my Sprint Touch. Right now I'm still sitting on the fence regarding whether to upgrade to WM 6.5. I'd appreciate if someone could tell me or provide a link to the features that are exclusive to WM6.5. This will help me decide if these features are really an improvement to what I have now or I could do without.
Thanks for any and all responses.
2 words: Finger-friendly
I can't stand the 6.1 start menu and that is enough for me. But vibrate on touch, kinetic scrolling, and we are finally seeing the results of the 6.5 or 6.51 overhaul. For instance, the new calender and time picker as well as the new manila.

Both ROMs are great, but offer such different things, and it really depends on how much work you want to put into getting all the apps. Nag's is great if you want to take full control of all the apps, since its so nice and clean, but NFS's offers just enough to be fast and efficient while hooking you up with so much stuff you are going to want like Total Commander, PIM Backup, and a nice full QRTY.
Again, obviously totally up to you, but I think its worth flashing both (since it takes so little time) and seeing which makes you happier!
BTW, I'm pretty new to flashing custom ROMs I just finally realized my Vogue, even with 6.1 and M2D needed a second life. These ROMs really did the trick!
It's midnight here in Minnesota and I am sitting at my computer trying to figure out what step I missed in upgrading my Vogue to NFSFANS 6.5 ROM. The phone freezes every now and then and when I do a soft reset it is doing a full hard reset thus erasing all my information and apps. Good thing I have all my apps in my SD card so it's not a total loss. Also Dashwire helps me get all my contacts back.
I am going to read thru all the FAQs to see if anyone else has this issue.

Reflash if you can. Try putting the phone into bootloader mode by using the camera+power+reset. It should say serial at the bottom, then plug it into the usb cable. If the screen changes to display USB, then flash away. Be mindful of making your desktop(laptop) computer run down with open and memory heavy programs. Other than there isn't much else to do. Did you already unlock your phone with the "coke unlocker"? Read here
I have followed the above steps to the letter and then saw a blurb in the FAQs that I need to reflash 3 times. After doing so, everything was working fine until this morning when I tested the soft reset to assure myself that all glitches are gone. Well unfortunately the phone did a hard reset and now it wont go beyond the date and time picker at initialization.
As per another advice, I am installing the custom ROM from HTC and then will try Nags basic 6.5. If that works, I will slowly add other customizations.

Just an FYI, I remember reading about someone in the NFSFAN ROM forum having the same issue, so you should search in there and see if they cam up with a solution.
So here's what I did. I reinstalled the 6.1 htc rom from their website and then installed Nags 6.5 rom over it. It was very smooth and worked really well. No issues whatsoever. But since I had been using NFSFAN's 6.1 rom all this time, I decided to give his 6.5 another try. The flashing went well and as I type, there have been no reset issues. I probably reset over 20 times just to make sure everything was working properly.
Thanks to all for the responses. Don't know what fixed the problem, but I am enjoying my upgrade

Thanks for any and all responses.

I never used his 6.1 rom but his 6.5 is aawwwsome its a definately yes upgrade, its faster, the scrolling is awsome, and the start menu as well. just do it...
I upgraded to 6.5 twice and still came back to 6.1 NFSFAN rom.
No advantage at all for 6.5 - just cosmetic. It's slower, you have to install bellserve on your own, and the handsfree doesn't work.
I'm staying with 6.1 for a while...

That's a bummer. WM 6.5 with better touchflow is definitely an improvement over 6.1. I had reset issues with my upgrade, but they went away after trying several suggestions from the threads here. My provider is Sprint, so I'm not sure if my steps will fix the issues you are facing. Handsfree, GPS, bluetooth all are working for me.

Does it work on Dash i downloaded earlier and couldn't get past the accept screen?
I think most peeps will still prefer 4.2 if it's going to be the same setup as PPC.
I installed on Dash with 3VO 6.5ROM. It's more or less working fine.
The interface is a major change from previous versions, designed far towards touch screen operation then keypad. It does look slick though.
It seems a little bit slower zooming in and out. But faster page rendering.
I can't find the sync option in this version. Have to manually enter all my bookmarks going to be very painful.
I can't find a way to disable the inline input. so entering URL is a major pain in the butt.
In settings advanced the inline input is, had to deselect as on PPC there keyboard kept popping up and wanted to use own, i'll have to try again in bit with Dash as didn't give long enough time.
From my first impressions on Kaiser they got alot to do to make it more user friendly.....

It is amazing... Fonts are fantastic, the look is awesome...
It is maybe little slower but it is beta so...
I love the full screen option... The best Opera Mini so far...
The BAD: The search is not in English!? No syncing!? At least so far...
Anyway to disable the inline go in Settings > Advanced > Inline Editing > Off
The full screen option exists in previous version too. Just click "*" button twice
That inline editing option has no effect on my dash. After it turned off, it still show an opera mini edit window instead of the java editor.
i have to admit, i love what im seeing. It should be nice to follow this while it comes together. I think it will be interesting to see how the whole bolt vs. opera thing goes down.

Even though you see this, if you push the "select dot", then it should take you to the text input that works for the Dash.
I agree -- so far this beta is pretty awesome. I never thought I'd see speed dial on a screen this small, haha. Works great on my Dash, though I'm a few ROMs behind.
Are you all using 6.5? Just that when i run on Ricky Remade i get to the accept screen and the pointer comes up i'm locked yet 4.2 working a.p.u?
Just wondering if need to update java?

Looks like stuck with 4.2 then not that it's a bad thing
"Is the common thing 6.1 as no specs left?" just that would be good to know as can see then if this is happening on other 6.1 SP's?
i downloaded it,
works perfect...
i gotta unlocked tmobile dash running 3VOLUTION SERIESWM6.5 3VO.2.50.080809...
tzone hack still working and internets has never been faster!!
I also cannot get the 5 to work. Using Ricky & Kavanyas 6.1-Rom and Jbed 200812, no reaction after the Accept-Screen. Maybe someone finds a solution besides upgrading to one of the damn slow 6.5-Roms

Don't think it's the java version that is stopping it running as a user previous was using a 09 version, think possibly the core?

I think you are right , I tried using a diffrent version of jbed and also tried using intent midlet manager it dosent work either ....
Any feed back regarding how good is it ? i mean is it worth a flash ?
3VO 6.5 rom uses jbed 20080813.2.1
after a day's use mini5 i think i'll stay with 4.2 for a while. eagerly waiting for beta 2
Look like it just works with ROM 6.5 :|
Yes, for those using Ricky or Kavanas WM 6.1 ROM and interested in testing the opera mini 5, try installing the old version of JBed - Esmertec Jbed 20080813.2.1. I have attached the old version.
It works for me too.
im wondering which i should us nfsfans 6.1 or 6.5
are there incompatibilities with 6.5?
what are its major advantages/disavantages?
does nfsfan actually still update his 6.1 rom?
any info is appreciated
thanks
Go with 6.1
NFSFAN no longer updates 6.1, but it is much more stable than its 6.5 counterpart, runs smoother, and everything just works. My main issue with 6.5 is the marking of threaded sms messages, I text message a lot, and if the text message window is open when you receive a text it doesn't mark it as read, which I find super annoying. 6.1 all the way! Also, 6.5 doesn't add much, runs slower and is buggier and if your gonna be using Manilla on your home screen anyway you won't even notice the physical appearance difference. Go 6.1, wish he still updated it though

I tried 6.5 back in the earlier V9-10 days, I found I had grown accustomed to 6.1, that it did run a bit smoother. In the end, I didn't feel I gained anything from 6.5, so went back to 6.1. Best thing to do, test them both out. Run each for 3 or 4 days, then choose.
To each his own, but personally I love 6.5. It just seems more finger friendly than 6.1, it is still being updated, and I have yet to find any compatibility issues.
When flashed correctly, 6.5 runs smoother. Finger scrolling is much more natural and visually pleasant. It is also much more finger friendly.
I do not have any problem using V16 and all my apps are running well (TomTom GPS, CDMA dialer, text, data...)
Try them both if you wish and then make your mind but 6.5 is now very stable and most old issues have been solved or will be in V17...
I would never ever go back to old 6.1
the new v17 6.5 is the final retail version of 6.5 and is worlds faster and smoother than 6.1
actually i perfer 6.5.
wayy more finger friendly and win6.1's suretype didn't do anything good for me. i'm a texting fan, so i needed full keyboard. vibration feedback good quality to have in a touchscreen phone.
plus it looks way nicer.

The latest 23081 6.5.1 build makes 6.5 look like Windows 5.0 in terms of finger friendliness. I'm telling you, try Vin's latest 23081 build and see the future!!
I tried NFSFANS 6.5 but becasue of minimum backlight higher than stock ROM, and poor Chinese font support, now flashed back to stock WM6.1. Where is latest NFSFANS WM6.1 ? I didn't find in this forum.
Hello
I need 6.1 rom of NFSSAN.But nowhere available. Can anybody give me link or upload here?
I'm going back to 6.1 I've tried every 6.5 available here and the all have different issues, mostly just slugishness. Maybe it's not the future and maybe I flashed wrong( not really sure that's possible) but back when I ran 6.1 everything always worked and worked immediately.
Maybe my phone is messed up somehow but it just doesn't seem like it can handle 6.5

If you want speed you need to go with 6.5.X and flash Vin's 23506 ROM, that is the future.

I am not trying to market anything here, bu have you tried mine? It is pretty fast, at least from what I have been able to test.
28014 23506_v4??
Just a tad confused - Which one is the latest? 28014 or 23506_v4?
Or are these two different builds altogether?

23506 is about a month and a half old. 28014 is about 2 1/2 weeks old.
Cool. Thx!
