Hello Guys,
I notice newbies or sometimes, even regulars asking stupid questions. To save space on XDA, here are some examples that you should steer away from. Take this seriously and it's all in good fun. Before I show you some examples, this is to show that some questions are either already answered in the forum, or use your common sense or finally, if you have no common sense - READ the forum. Everyone was once a newbie but how did we all get here? We searched, read and maybe asked a question here and there, but valid questions. So use the "Search" button, find yourself a topic and seek knowledge. We're all here to help but don't flood the forum with stupid questions. This is to teach all newbies to avoid these kind of questions and cut the regulars some slack. From nowonwards, whatever DUMB thread I find, I will trash it and post the link here.

Give me a Break. How do you expect to convert a 5 GIG .exe (Windows Install) file to a .cab? It's a phone. Damn it - Yes, this phone can DO a lot of things but don't expect to scratch your records on a phone. Who the hell is mixing a song on their phone? According to this, the drivers are already in the cab, so just install and tell them where you want to go.

Maybe you're not trying to offend but you do. You want to tell us that If you would be selling it with some hundreds of posts here it wouldn't be so risky as it is now?!?! I am speechless

Then I apologize my friend. Even if somebody had a thousand posts, I would only buy from him if the transaction is absolutely formal and reversible. When the seller has only a couple posts, it becomes only more risky. I just wanted to warn josh, because I have been using his ROMs lately, and I am aware of the recent accident his Hermes had, and I don't want him to face another trouble based on Hermes I am sure he already knows what I am saying. This is the Internet and there is no point in transferring your precious money without a guarantee and crossing your fingers. Once again, no offense intended. Nothing personal. Just a friendly warning.

Ebay is even risky these days. I almost got raped for a tilt by an asshole in ebay. But i eventually got my money back after almost a month and a half battle with him!

Didn't ment to react in a disparaging manner. I just wanted to say I don't think you will get an awnser to your question, what doesn't give you an awnser, but does notify you about (what I think) the probability you will. At least not until it's published in official media.

Well I'm going to go ahead and respond condescendingly because you are clearly beneath me. Making a proper title isn't a trivial thing, it makes it easy for anyone else looking for answers to find them. As it happens, I was looking for the same information, when ATT will have some solid information about the TP2, but I plan to actually search the board, and if I don't find an answer ask an actual question instead of throwing a hissy fit like a 9 year old.

i have both a stujpid question and equally stupid reply, i was walking out of the sprint store when this one girl asked the girl who was first to get the evo (who by the way started the line at 3am and who was screaming i got the first one) is that the new apple evo and the girl said uh no its htc they are run by hp you know the computer company the have better 3g its new its called 4g and its like faster or something, i walked to the car as fast as i could so that i wouldnt laugh at either of them

i agree if they start linking to posts, that will discourage people from asking their questions.
If someone posts something thats been asked a million times, either ignore them, link them to the proper post, or give them the terms to search to help them out a bit. I'm not asking you to hold their hand and do the work for them, just pitch in a bit.
This community welcomes all and it would be great if xda-dev doesn't turn into another fanboy forum.
But the way this thread is going, with funny stories overheard or experienced with retail employees, i see no issue with that.
Lets not start to single people out and embarrass our fellow members.

I was glancing at some phones while walking past the T-Mobile kiosk in the mall today:
Employee: "Hey wanna sign up with T-Mobile and get a new phone today?"
Me: "Nah, no thanks just looking."
Employee: "Who's your carrier now?"
Me: "Sprint."
Employee: "Oh man you need to switch over, that's not good, leave them. We have discounts on your first month's bill and the next month and it continues."
Me: "Nah, I just recently got an Evo (pulled out the phone)."
Employee: "Oh...oh...Well we had it first you know?"
Me: "Yeah except it's missing a front camera."
Employee: "Man nobody cares about that."
Me: "Well I do. And the HD2 also runs Windows Mobile...."
Employee: "Yeah....."
And that was the end of that sales pitch lol.

Guys,
Whilst we do not want to stifle what could be an intellectual discussion, we have to be careful in that individuals are not pointed at, singled out or made fun.
This is most definitely NOT in the spirit of XDA and i am not convinced that this thread wont head down that slippery slope.
The very title of the thread suggests to me that in pointing out a "dumb question" will inevitably result in the individual being mocked, which is a clear violation of XDA rules.
It is for this reason that i am closing this thread, if you disagree at all or would like to pm me please feel free.

Wow, you really shouldn't make fun of people for grammar or spelling. English might not be their first language.
Unfortunately there are people out there that are so miserable and desperate in their own lives that they enjoy negative attention. After reading a few of his posts it would appear that his XDA posts are the most complex and meaningful conversations he has in the day. It would appear that the number of responses, good or bad, is how he measures his self worth. Hopefully he can mature and grow as a person. Hopefully he can find it much more rewarding to justify his existence with the number of people he helps, rather than the number he annoys.
