After many months of reading posts for unlocking and upgrades. I finally got enough courage to give it a shot with my Cingular 8125. What prompted me to do so was a battery problem (when surfing the net or resource intense functions the 8125 would soft reset (only if running on battery) and the team effort with resolving issues and general excitement most have doing so. Ok so I took the dive and unlocked & upgraded and the new goodies were outstanding. (like a kid in a cany shop, I wanted more!) Unfortunatly my problem with the battery still exsisted so I called Cingular / ATT and troubleshooted with them and they agreed to send a new 8525! Which brings up a few questions.
1. What's the best way to return the 8125 back to factory setting?
2. Will that re-lock the phone back to Cingulars settings
3. What unlocking tool is best for the 8525
4. I used the LokIwiz 02b for the 8125 and worked great! Will it work with the 8525?
5. Cingular plans a free to upgrade the OS to WM6 sometime between July-Sept. Should I wait to tweek the current OS / ROM?
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome

With the wizard, just flash back to the latest cingular rom. I had to do that when I sent mine back.
Hello. Sorry if this is in the wrong area, but I am new to flashing roms, and I don't know who to ask for help. I have an audiovox ppc4100 and all I want to do is upgrade it to windows mobile 5 or 6. Just something other than wm2003. I've downloaded numerous wm6 and wm5 images from this site (They are extremely cool looking from the screenshots I've seen!) but I cannot seem to get any of them to work. I am running windows vista, so activesync isn't available. Its the windows mobile device center. It would just be easiest if I could rom upgrade from my 2gb sd card. Is there anyone who can help me either cook a wm5 or wm6 rom for my ppc4100 or give me some pointers on how to do this (remember, I'm a newbie!) I would really appreciate anyone's help. Thanks so much!

roms are custom made for devices only a rom which is made for that type of hardware setup will do you any good
Hi folks!
Sorry - I am a complete novice to ROM upgrades etc...
I have an MDA Touch Plus Mobile with T-Mobile, running Windows Mobile 6.0.
I want to upgrade to WM 6.1 or 6.5, however the HTC website suggest that my phone (via S/N number) is not valid for the 6.1 upgrade...
T-Mobile support is worse than pathetic and offer no advice at all...
Can anyone suggest if it's possible to get the upgrade for my phone and how I would go about it...?
( Remember I'm a novice to Rom upgrades!)
P.S.
Many thanks and aplogies to those guru's out there who have gone through this issue a million times with folk like me...
- As a Db Progress developer I can relate - Give me a Progress DB and I'm happy, give me a car with a broken Altenator and I pass....
Cheers
Ron
First install the Hard SPL boot loader, after that install a custom rom with wether wm6.1 or wm6.5.
Take a deep look http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=404 here.
Everything you need can be found THERE.
Check out the HardSPL thread and then start reading about custom roms.
If you have any questions : read again. If you still have any questions : read again...

Test
Hi guys,
Did someone test it? Any updates?
Thanks
Hi, tested WM6.5 ROM 23518 release date 2010/5/02..there is no newer since this date. Tested on Acer N311, it´s slower than WM6.1 Football Edition and also uses more memory...that influenced mainly using the PDA as GPS navigator (iGO8 navigation software had serious problem caused by insuficient memory space). I´m going to upgrade my PDA to 128MB RAM and then try again. =) have a nice weekend!
Trying to install WM 6.5 on my Acer n300
Hi Guys,
I know this thread is quite old, but hopefully someone will answer me.
I'm trying to upgrade my Acer n300 (WM 5.1.476 (Build 15704.3.5.0) to
WM 6.5.
I've downloaded potatoheads file (thanks), but am stumped as to what to do next.
I'm quite technical, but am a complete noob when it comes to flashing mobile devices.
Any help appreciated.
Rom version is 1.00.24
firmware version is 2.6
Bootloader version is 1.24
Thanks
John (aka Teleportist)
Update.
Managed to flash my N300 with the two files by putting them on my SD card and performing a hard reset.
Had some initial problems with the Wi-Fi card not displaying its MAC address, but that seemed to clear itself.
Also installed SPB Mobile Shell. All-in-all this has given my n300 a new lease of life.
Thanks for making these files available.
will try this tonight
Went through my old things and found my acer n311. Having bought it and used it for about 6 months, it then got put in a box and never seen again after getting a blackberry and a sat nav.
Going to try this ROM tonight and carry on searching for a good resource to let me know how I can get the most out of this device. Otherwise ill end up just puting it on eBay. Cheers
Hi, I know this thread is more dead than myself but, anyone has the build 28217? Or something near it?.
I have the only one I could find (aka the one is uploaded on mediafire on this thread) but I have a problem with the bluetooth and some stuff.
If anyone could just search on their hard drive for it, like searching n311 or something, would be helpful. Thanks
Hi, there, I just found out that acer n311 is the good old fashioned pda that has 64mb of ram. I seriously recommend you to stay away from wm6.5 altogether unless you have something like htc hd2(and even thete I did install wm6.1) and instead source out a good custom wm 6.1 rom which does everything that wm6.5 does, but faster, because 6.5 is just a bloated wm 6.1.
I had wm6.5 once on my hx4700 that I still use, the start menu alone makes the os use 10mb more ram than wm6.1, so yeah just get rid of it. Besides wm is the best when it tries to be wm not iPhone.

Hi guys. New to the forum.
Here's the deal.
Got a HTC touch diamond (below spec.) last week. Got it second hand and it seem to me it works pritty slugish. I mean it takes like 1-2 seconds before the phone recognize I'm trying to slide on the quick links menu in the bottom. Also the free memory after a cleanRam secion is abt 20 MB. Also smtimes the phone would not respond and nothing would help but removing the battery.
Can you please sujjest what the reason might be is it a bad ROM? Does win 6.1 work better on the Diamond as it comes with it preinstalled? Looking for some advise before changing the ROM.
T-Mobile MDA Vario IV
Bluetooth version - 2.0/2.0+EDR
O.S. Version: Win Mob 6.5 professional
CE O.S. 5.2.28011 (28011.5.5.0)
Manila version 2.5.19211619.0
ROM 28011_KH WWE
Radio version 1.09.25.23
Protocol version 52.51.25.26H
Thanks in advance!
ROM
WM6.1 is not as quick as 6.5, but it should not be taking as long as you are describing to do anything
Chances are there is a piece of software installed making the phone sluggish, you can remove programs just like a PC in the phones settings, have a look down the list and see if there is anything there you dont want
If you choose to upgrade to WM6.5 I highly recommend "BsBG 6.5" from this link
I have tried 100's of ROMs and this is the only one where everything works flawlessly on it (Dont forget to Flash the unlocked Radio and Security unlock the phone before upgrading)
