I bought an Artemis (standard package) a while ago and it shipped with Tomtom Navigator 6.020. I'd like to be able to know if there's a newer version of the software out, but so far, the only way I've found to be able to check this is through the TomTom Home desktop application, which doesn't seem to work with my Artemis's TomTom Navigator software.
Is there any page on the TomTom website where I can get Navigator updates (or at least check to see which version number is current)?
Also, I though I'd ask - 6.020 still is the most current version of Navigator, correct?
Although I don't own an Artemis a friend of mine does Tomtom home will function only if Tomtom is not running on the device.
One way to check for updates is either by GSM/GPRS/UTMS connection or when the device is connected via AS on a PC with an active internet connection. Go to Tomtom Plus services - Check for updates. Make sure you have a valid username and password for TT plus services.
My Artmis works good with TomTom home and yes, 6.0.20 ist the up-to-date-version
I have an XDA Orbit, I updated from Tomtom V5 to V6 today and works fine no problem, boots up a lot faster than TT5. Not sure why you have V6.020 , mine is V6.010 build (7720) which should be the latest?
By the way if anyone is upgrading from V5 to V6 maps, when it asks for which device you have pick MDA III if you don't you will only get V6 Maps, no TT6 Program.

Mike, I guess TOMTOM have done a special OEM bundle for the HTC P3300, I don't get the "Inbuilt GPS" option, I have to setup mine as "Other NMEA GPS reciever" Baud rate 4800 COM4,
Cheers

Just wondering why coz I recently bought tt6 and installed it on my S100 and the version says only 6.010 and when I try to update it tells me I've already have the latest version.
Latest version TT6: 6.010
Version on HTC P3300 is 6.020, which is 6.010 adjusted with the internal GPS feature
I have a HTC P3300 which came with the 6.020 however when hooked up to TT Home it advised me that there was an update. After i updated the vesrsion was 6.010.
Everything worked fine! I aclled Tom Tom US and they did not know that the latest version was. So what i did is a master reset and reverted to the factory setting to reapply the 6.020 since thyat one should be the latest version.
Cheers
TT6 should detect the internal GPS on the Orbit/3300/Artemis fine I know mine does, had the co-piolt got rid of it as it was crap and put TT6 on and works fine
Just need to work out how to load new voices onto it now
Kimbie
Simply use TT Home to load voices onto the card.
does the 6.020 version also add the ability to use the quick GPS function of the artemis which is greyed out on the 6.010 version?
I'm running a back-up version of 6.010 and it seems to work fine, although it does take ages to get a fix.

Hi, I run an Orbit I have QuickGPS which updates when I sync my Orbit with the PC, I also run TT v 6.010 , can you explain what is greyed out?
Cheers
I am in the same situation that the "quick fix gsp" is grayed out on both tt home and/or in my device.
Just for a test, can anyone post the files stored in the Navigator folder?
My quick gps on the HTC-P3300 is not grayed out. Where is the quick gps on the TT?

I think there is a bit of confusion on my part and maybe others it seems tomtom has a plugin similar or the same as "HTC QuickGPS" which essentially does the same thing when in TOMTOM, I cannot find it in my version? links below explains TOMTOM version.
‘QuickGPSfix’ http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=18&Language=1
I think but am not sure the "HTC QuickGPS" should help TT6 and other gps apps find the satellites quicker as long as the PDA is docked with activesync regularly or downloaded via GPRS? If I am wrong please let me know.
Cheers
Hi NickR,
Mine works exactly as you explained. I used the tweak so i could drain the battery while plugged in without charging. I have been told i should drain the battery every once in a while. I am in the basement phone is on with wifi and gps working flawless.
cheers,

I'm confused about your statement because first you claim it works but then you ask where is it located. So how do you know it works if you don't know where to activate/deactivate it?
@NickR: what you say is true and seems to be designed only for non PDA/phone devices.
The quickGPS installed in my HTC-P3300 fine.
The one in TT i cannot find!
The "quick gps fix" in tt can be found when selecting "TTPlus Services - Download more" options. You'll have to have the device connected via AS or EDGE/GPRS/UMTS.
Appologies dicin, I didn't mean to be rude. I don't have an Artemis and would like to know what does the "quick gps" installed on your device do. Does it have the same function as posted by NickR (http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=18&Language=1)?
I followed the link from the HTC website for the discounteded version of the full tom tom 6 WE maps and software etc but when I got the software it appears only to be tom tom home and the maps voivces etc no actual application. The app doesn't appear on the available items to install but everything else is? I've hunted through the disk and tried to find the app but can't.
However TomTom now say the software is on the disk but the Orbit is not compatible, any ideas ? How has everyone else managed to install it?
It's really starting to annoy now I was quite happy to pay for this in preference to the copiolt I could have gotten for free...
I own a MDA Compact III including the TomTom DVD with the map of Western Europe. The application TT 6 itself is indeed not on the DVD. My package also contained a micro SD card, on which the application was installed.

Jamie, The HTC 3300 Taster comes with TT6 preloaded I think, which only gives you 1 city map of your choice, maybe the link you are talking about only adds the Full Maps? I think you need to ring TT Customer Services for them to clarify?
I will PM you
Cheers
Nick

Find that very hard to believe, to be honest. My P3300 works a treat and I'm quite sure the Orbit will too, but I'll know more after Christmas when I get back to work and start playing with the one in my desk drawer...
Don't believe everything the experts tell you... ;-)

Install the files to the card using a card reader rather than Active Sync its more reliable and considerably faster - Mike

go to settings/connections then "USb to PC" . Untick the option (advanced functions..)
I've unticked the box but it still keeps coming up with the same error message. I've tried installing it straight to the micro sd card, but it's not recognising the voices or the map of Great Britain. Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers

Tomtom 6 MOBILE is only for Nokia/Symbian Phones.
The Version that you should install is Tomtom NAVIGATOR 6!
TomTom Mobile 6?
With version 6 of TomTom, the distinction between the Mobile and Navigator product line is gone. From version 6, the generic name for TomTom on any device apart from the One or Go is Navigator. Hope to have clarified this.

TomTom works fine
Hi all, i can confirm TomTom 6 is working flawless on Xda-Orbit. Straight forward installation (copy everything to card and restart the device) only had to select the COM Port from Settings>GPS.
Cheers,
hi everyone,
has anyone tried to turn GPS on in Cingular 8525 besides that '$10/month telenav'? 'coz if there's a way then 8525's GPS can be used with Google Map / Microsoft's Live search maps...
Many thanx in advance

Any one on GPS on Cingular 8525 ...?
Many Thanx, Jags
i.TrekM5+ Bluetooth GPS
I used the i.TrekM5+ Bluetooth GPS without a Problem in Live Search and Google Maps. Although the Live Search interface was much better.
Instructions on how to setup the device were included with the GPS Receiver manual, but consist on only pairing the devices and selecting the port that will be used for communication.
Then you go into the application and specify which COM port will be used.
I was using ATT 8525 (HTC) with Windows Mobile 5. I have just upgraded my rom to Windows Mobile 6 and haven't tried it out again.
I was looking for any way to bring WM6 to its full capacity, as ATT seem to have stripped a lot out of the OS.
Any suggestions?

You need to buy a reciever for gps on the 8525 then go in the registry and enable the gps option.
Hi Guys,
I've done some searching of this forum, and can't find anything relating to Tom Tom Go 300's here - so I figure it's safe to post this
I've upgraded to WM6, and everything works wonderfully, but for one thing...
I've a TomTomGo 300 Portable SatNav device, and it doesn't seem to want to work with WM6 - any reasons why? Anything I do to fix it?
When I try and pair the phone and the TTG, it finds the phone - but then comes up with something about there being no required services on the phone. Is this because we don't have DUN on WM6?
Any help/suggestions/abuse appreciated!
Ta!
Matt
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310411&highlight=tomtom+DUN
hope you get it running soon as you atleast need a TT to find your way '-)
Bah! I thought I'd seen it somewhere but couldn't for the life of me find it.
Will follow that thread then!
Thanks!
Matt
Which TomTom are you using?
Instead of starting a new thread, I'll keep using this regarding navigation options.
I have a Cingular 8525 with the VP3G LSVW rom. Since I've read other threads that the internal GPS chip in the TyTN is hopelessly disabled, I'm wondering what type of TomTom software + gps device is everyone else using? I'm thinking that there is something that can connect via BT or emu to my device that will provide the gps portion and then I can just install software.
Please post what you have and links to products would be even better!
Hello,
I have an ATT 8525 and a little usb HOLUX GPS reciver. It seems to work with a little demo app that shows # of satelites, srenght, etc. But, I can't find any street navigationn software to go with it.
I thought I had head of people rrunning TomTom or Garmin on these things but I have not found any software through any channels. All I want is the funtionality of the cheapest TomTom.
Does any body have aby ideas on software a a GPS (Holux) enabled 8125
Thanks PK
If you have an unlimited data plan, you could try google maps. It's not fully like tom tom, but quite usable for navigation.
Thanks.
I unfortunatly do not have the unlimited data plan. I' look into it but I think it was mmore han my DSL.
I had it in my head you could use a pocket pc version or somthing. I had a TomTom stolen 2 weeks after I got it. I like to consolidate everything into one device.
Thanks again. PK
Yup there is a pocket pc version floating around out there. If you keep searching, you'll find it.
And that works eh? I've seen it from specific phones, but not anything univeral sounding. I found a post here about someone having lots of trouble with tomtom.
Mentioned as good was a nav. program called (among other things) "I go8" wich looks o.k., even has "tyne " listed as compatible. Can't find a price for it though.
Thanks again
I use tomtom 7 on my 8525 with an Holux gps receiver and it works perfectly
Thanks, I'd prefer tomtom. Is it just a pocket PC version you used?
PK
I prefer using iGuidance. It's great, a lot faster load times, and it also tells you what side your destination is on....
But they're commercial softwares, so you have to purchase it.
Any other way is illegal, and should not be posted on here, from what I remember, xda-developers doesn't support Pirated software.
Cheers!
Thanks my friend, I look into it. Have to admit I never heard of it...but who am I. As long as they have US maps, I game.
Regards, PK
Quick edit: Went to there site, they have a demo ride....navigating through my proverbial back yard. Answeres one question...
I'm looking for a software with italian maps. Tomtom is quite "heavy" for my 8525. Anyone knows any other software?
Have a look at I-Go8. Very eurocentric and designed for phones and the like. I don't think they even make a box.
