Hello
Can anybody point me in the direction of making my own homescreen? I am a C++/C/C#/Php/Html/Js/Perl/Sql developer, so programming is not an issue. But a nice guide or something, or a starting point i can use to start playing around will be helpful. All the homescreens I have used fall short of what I want...
Thanks in advance...

Do you need a custom layout or different items in the view? Basically the layout is in a little XML file where as the items are handled through plugins.
Maybe check out the homescreen example here:

Good luck with the development
ooooh, COM... fun.....
Anyway, thanks for the link
Youll be hearing from me in a few weeks

I'm very interested in which files i have to edit to get the result, that i want.
And I would like to read something about all the possibilities you have, when u edit your manila.
my 2 cents
I'll look forward to this...
UPS...
should have reserved 2 or 3 posts mate, skinning TF3D is extensive
looking forward for your guide
I don't think I'll be needing that many.
1-enabling 4 columns of applications
2-more entries in applications
3-making the mail envelop transparent to read more from the email
4-making skins as simple to usecabs.
5-using vga skins
6-background pics in all tabs
7-simple way to add bookmarks
8-changing default opera app and youtube
will add more later
Well, most of these request are more complicated than just skinning.. I am doing some mode9 editing, but the code is such a mess, I won't be able to get all those things done easily.
useful project
@THE GRIZZ
1 & 2 require some lua editing, impossible for now
5, 7 and 9 require some m9 editing on the fly and a good debugging... we need tools for it, again, not for now
I think we can listing all manila graphic file and a "who does what" list to find out rapidly what to change... This should be a very good start for now
Yeahp. Expect the first part of the guide to be released this weekend. I'm very busy atm, so haven't done a lot of work on my X1
i am impatiently waiting for this step by step tutuorial, as i want to know how to edit so much in tf3d. im checking almost everyday for this guide but sad that it looks like it might take a while. o well atleast some one is has thought of a guide. thanks

Hey, yeah. I've bought a house, so I'm kind of overburdened atm.. haven't been able to work on this. I'll try and squeeze in a little time this weekend to finish it.

congrats and enjoy settling down in the new house angelusz. im so grateful for the extra time that all the developers took their free time to work on these projects for grateful and non grateful newbies such as myself.
Cheers, check out the guide here.
I've been searching, and don't even really know where to begin to look for this, but I want to change the background on the taskbar and the bottom quick launch. I started making my own custom cab's for hd pics, but the taskbar (genesis energy rom) has the hex honeycomb still in it. Anyone have an idea on how to change this or point me in the right direction? Included a pic of what I'm talking about.
You might want to look around the themes.... section, lots of links to resources, and if you can't find what you are looking for one of the experts will be able to help I'm sure.

Thanks...after spending about 2-3 hours of looking around, I found this.

There are some great themes out there, but I find myself liking bits and pieces of different themes, sometime you can just push a certain clock or whatever, but somethings are more in depth. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of theme creation how to's. I don't want to be creating .png's or anything like that, I just want to be able to take apart certain theme's, then mash them back together into my own frankenstein theme, then flashing it to my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
N1
There are some good guides in the mod sticky in Themes and Apps
Sent from my SUPERSONIC
*facepalm, thanks, I had looked at the titles through the stickies there, as well as used search, and didn't find anything. Got it now, thanks again
Your goal is obviously very achievable but I would suggest you not bite off too much right off.
Start with something simple, changing a single image or something just to learn the process.
I'm interested in learning what tools I need and any guides to teach me how to create roms for my LG G3. Can anyone here help me out with this?

If you can't even search Google to find your answers, I'm sorry to say I think you might fail at creating ROMs

Please do me a favor keep your opinions about me to your self you don't know the first thing about me In the past I was a programmer using Pascal and basic which I created programs to test PCB's So I do know how to program just not android. I did google but I probably didn't phrase it right so didn't find the exact info I was looking for. As far as I'm concerned you are being rude and judgemental so the way I see it is in your best interest to keep your opinions to your self.
Thanks for the info Semantics am looking at it now.
I wish you the best, hoping to see a creation by you in the near future ?
@Semantics @IXChicharitoXI way to have a supportive attitude. We need more of that around here :good:
Thanks for the support it will be awhile since I have to learn everything from the bottom up.

Best way to start it by cooking your own personalized stock ROM. Learning as you go is a great way to retain that knowledge. After you get the hang of that move on to aosp. A lot of the same principles will carry over. Don't let haters get you down, I saw a guy post in the hacking and development section asking how to do something. He got lit up with insults but went on to do some really cool stuff. I didn't see this in actual time I was just curious about his othere projects and ran into it. One tip I would say is do not depend on kitchens. They work for a quick shortcut to get your stock ROM started but that's about all they are good for (they don't even work with this phone). Good luck!

Yes I want to do it right but everywhere I look I see people doing work with the kitchen software which I have tried on one of the stock rooted deodexed roms I found here and your right very limited. I will keep looking and reading hopefully I will find some guides on the net which will show me how to do what I want to do. When I programmed before one of my friends helped me learn how to do it and I did learn from the bottom up with his help. So I know it is possible just need assistance getting there.
Hi, I'm currently designing template, but I'm having trouble with the "Series layout". I need to split the series or add space between let's say Tuesday and Wednesday, but I can not figure out how to do that. To explain you what I'm trying to achieve is that I have vertical battery percentage bar and I want the horizontal series of Monday to Sunday going through this bar. And here comes my issue, as you can't edit series the way you can with other stuff, so I can't edit the code to add space between specific days. I know I could use spacing, but that would put spaces everywhere which would ruin the design. So is there a way how to do this, or is it just not possible at all?
Thank you

I don't think it's possible with the build in series, but you could make your own with some rich text modules, markup/BB code and advanced parameters:

Comes pretty close I think, here's the examle template I made, I made it on my tablet so I don't know how it scales on a phone but at least you can see how it works

Yeah, I tried to do that... then after hour of messing around I've realized I don't know what the hell I'm doing..
Anyway, yours design is sort of what I want, so I should be able to edit it to my preference. Thank you!
/EDIT:
Yup, exactly what I needed. Awesome! And big thank you for this!
