Hi,
I've had my orbit for about 7 months, and tweaked it bit after being inspired by the tools and guides that most guys on here have writen.
I wondered if you agreed with my review of it:
http://www.innerllama.com/blog/?p=41
[edit]Yay, my first post since registering in December, lol, I think I should post more[/edit]
Hi LlamaV3,
did you ever or do you plan on releasing that Skin? Love the IPhone look you have done there...
Thx
Paul
Its actually based a lot on what is on these forums.
I used:
sim2unlock
icontacts
and the skin is actually from the first iphone skin threads, took me a while setting up phone alarm etc, just look for those really old threads. I don't want to remove my skin and install any of the newer ones.
I'm still looking for the perfect keyboard, because that's what screws up the orbit for me, the screen is too small to use fingers on any onscreen keyboard.
Good afternoon. I've been a big fan of XDA-Developers since getting a Cingular 8525 and wanted to upgrade the phone with the latest skins and software. The forums are amazing, and I highly recommend them to everyone.
However, the Smartphones forums are a bit lacking. And after my 8525 died over Christmas, at just a year and 4 months old... I decided to go with a Smartphone for it's replacement instead of another 8525. Which means I now need help with GPS's for Smartphones, configuration, etc.
Would LOVE to see a Blackjack II forum added to the site. Best wishes!!!
Not manufactured by HTC = no1 gives a damn about it here.
I have to agree that it would be awesome to have and XDA-like forum for other non-HTC WinMo phones. I am sure there is a fair amount of interest in this too. It would be great if some founding members could start a sister site for phones by Motorola, Samsung, i-Mate, and others.
I know it would be a major undertaking but the WM community would love it.
Does anyone know of a site like XDA that already exist for other manufacturers?
I think it would be a great thread to have!!
This community is great and there are many helpful people on this board! It would be nice to have a spot for the blackjack II as so many fixes and apps are OS wide not just device specific!
And a note to capncucci, Lose the attitude, no one needs it. I for one would love a board as I passed up a Tilt to get the BJ II. And am very happy with my decision! So yes, there are others who "give a damn"
I just sold my Tytn and bought a BJII so I'm in.
Me too. I have searched all over for BJ II related threads and Info. MoDaCo has been great in this respect but it's not as in depth as I would like it. A dedicated hack and resolution thread would be ideal...
The GPS is crying out for a look see under the hood...it only works with minimal apps and needs a good serve of reverse engineering....But that's not all.
Hopefully it will take off. I have moved away from HTC products due to some reliability issues and ease of use...they still rock but aren't the be all and end all of phones. I moved from an AT&T 8525 to the BJII for the size, weight, and dedicated numeric keypad....
agreed. BJII forum would be cool.

but it's never going to happen, sorry.
You could try over at ppcgeeks.com. They already have a virtually unused Blackjack forum. It seems the knowledgebase there is mainly focused towards the HTC CDMA PPC phones (Apache and Titan).
I wish there was a BJ forum here too, this seems to be where all the people with technical knowledge hang out. I would like to port the BJII ROM into the old BJ.
i agree a bj2 forum here would be great. I understand that this is a HTC site but the blackjack 2 has alot of oppurtunity.
I found this forum yesterday:
http://www.blackjackusers.com/
I tried to join, but never received the activation email. It's mainly about the original BJ, but judging by the domain name, I'm guessing they'd be more than happy to open it up to BJ2 users. It's the only site I've found so far that even mentions (and offers links to) cooked ROMs for the original BJ so that's a good sign.
hey BJII users, can someone upload their SD card drivers please? us i760 users are having SDHC card issues and want to try yours out. We need
sdbus.dll
sdmemory.dll
they are located in the windows directory.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

ill do my best
er, this is old thread, do u still need these?
Should there be a dedicated section where all xda-members can submit their stuff through a pre-defined form? Like with the following features:
Subcategories
for themes: WM 6.5, Titanium, Sense, WAD, Mobile Shell, lockscreen, boot animations, icons etc.
for ROMs: per device (every device gets its own subcategory)
Pre-defined fields, for example
compability (WM 5, 6, 6.5, 6.5.3)
resolution (QVGA, WVGA etc.)
CAB install (yes/no)
for ROMs: build, free RAM etc.
Filter by fields (for example only WM 6.5.3 and QVGA)
additionally presets for common devices, like WM 6.5 and WVGA for HD2 (already implemented in the current frontpage)
Rating system (which should not be placed in some drop-down nearly out of view like on the forums)
Sort by rating, views last x days, last update etc.
Featured entries which show up on front page
Provide file hosting space
I think you get the idea, it's vaguely similar to freewarepocketpc.net. The main benefit would be that it's a lot easier, especially for new people, to find the things they're looking for, and a forum thread isn't exactly the best and easiest-to-maintain way to show off your apps/themes/ROMs. Fields additionally ensure consistency among all posts.
Also, right now the more posts, the more attention a thread gets. This poses the problem that, for example, an app where many users post to report a problem gets more attention than another app where everything just works fine, as only a small minority bothers to post a "thank you". As almost no one rates threads (on the average there is less than one rating for 10,000 views) and even fewer people sort threads by views or rating, these apps (or themes or whatever) do not get the attention they deserve. With a rating system and the ability to sort by it, this problem could be solved.
Of course, the implementation of such a system could be somewhat challenging. I only want to hear what others think of this idea.
What do you think? Like the idea or not? Leave a comment and vote, thanks !
I think this is a brilliant idea, it's like an app store, but with apps ETC... will support in anyway i can

Yea idd! Like an app store, but with apps!
No seriously, good idea. The more active a post is, the more visitors it will get. Lots of good stuff after page 10 of the dev category aswell haha.
Yep, not only that but also the consistency and accessability, especially for new people, will be a great advantage. I also contacted svetius and he seems to like this idea, so I hope this will be done in the future. Thanks for your support guys!

We need to put this in our Sigs who has photoshop (He says to the theme designer )
I think it's a great idea - especially for noobies. I don't have developers skills but have learned much over the years just reading and browsing threads. Enough to even add some simplistic help here and there. But most people don't have time to look through many threads hoping to find some glitter of gold they are looking for. This might slow down the "Is there an app for this?" threads. Not everyone has time to just sit and browse but those of us who want to might not have so many uninformative threads to look at.
I would suggest a link to the initial thread where support could be given and all the "Thank you" responses kept in the new posting. And with all the needed information posted up front it might also stop all the "Will this work on my XXXX?
Hope it can happen!
That´s a great idea, I miss this database here..would help a lot!
A very good idea to have a database here & it's references!
yeah it would be great
We've gotten many requests for this, and it's clearly something we would like to do. There are two (obvious) issues:
1. Figuring out the best implementation method -- Can we somehow use Wordpress (which is what the portal runs on now)? If not, what CMS? Exactly how should the database be structured? That's not exactly a simple question given all the different permutations of devices/operating systems/resolutions that are supported by different software.
2. Figuring out how to keep it updated -- Do we rely on the devs to post their creations both in the forums and the database? Or do we have volunteers scan the forums daily to pull stuff into a app database? That sounds like a boring job . Anyway, we don't want to spend the time building something unless we have a sustainable and affordable model for keeping it going.
Anyway, if anyone is serious about helping us implement something (conceptual design, development, etc), send me a detailed PM. Or we can discuss it here.
As it is, this is definitely on my list to figure out, but there are also 5 or 6 other things (some front-end stuff like the forum re-design and other back-end server stuff). Plus to the extent all these projects have some cost, we like to spread them out.
1. I don't think WordPress, as a blogging tool, is suited for something like this. Drupal, with the module CCK, provides this kind of funtionality out of the box, and you won't need to worry about how the database is structured. Then we'd just need a custom theme (perhaps the same ones who are currently redesigning the forum).
2. If new things are only posted in the new section, then a forum thread with a summary, link etc. should be created automatically in the right subforum. So, threads will only be used for discussion, not for presentation.
For any further discussion of this idea, I'd like to suggest we keep it in this thread, so everyone can see it and comment.
Great idea! As already mentioned, I guess the maintenance/upkeep would be the sticking point.

That shouldn't be a problem as the entries will be maintained by the respective creators like forum threads.
So, whens it going to be up n running?
willing to BETA test
YES! I'd strongly recommend Joomla and DocMan or any other similar component. I've used it successfully on other sites and it's terrific.
app store, what a great idea!
Just contacted GelaSkins to enquire about the S II, and they replied with this:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hi Potatoman
Thank you for your email! The Galaxy S II is definitely on our list of devices to skin, but I'm afraid that we do not have a release date scheduled yet. Stay tuned!
Elizabeth Czetyrbok | GelaSkins Inc.
Check us out on Facebook and Twitter!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shame the release date isn't set yet, but good news nonetheless! Personally I find them to be some of the most unique skins (I use the Neo New York one for my laptop ) and they do a great job of protecting the device. Thought I'd put this up here in case anyone was holding off on buying a skin until something new came around, I avoided the gel ones because I find them a bit plain and boring.
Yeah, I like them too, they look great!
Indeed! I dunno, but for a phone that had 3 million preorders, I like these skins because they make my phone feel unique sue me, I like being a snowflake ^_^
Not sure how well they would look with the textured back on the SGS2. We shall see
You can also upload your own disign and they will fabricate it for you!
no directly links to advertise please
it's okay to link to ebay/amazon and other such market places, but direct links to the manufacture or distributor websites are not allowed, unless a Marketing deal has been made with XDA Admins
Apologies, I wasnt aware, i just saw other threads discussing it and assumed the rule referred to official advertising.
As for the textured back, I don't think it will matter, my laptop one is pretty thick anyway so it should smooth it out. My laptop isnt AS textured as the SGS2, but it flattens this backplate out quite nicely, so we'll see i guess.
amagad how long should we wait ((( don't they know that our devices will be delivered soon (many have already got it)
I think they will release once it is out in the US, since they are a US company. I've bought a cheap case off ebay for £4 to protect the phone until gelaskins release them :3
by the way, there is an alternative - ZAGGskins. does anybody know if they are planning to make skins for our device too?
Great idea... i cant wait until they have the template ready

Hopefully, when SGS2 sells like hotcakes, manufacturers will start churning out cases and protectors like no-ones business
This is the first time I've heard of Gelaskins. I looked them up and their skins look amazing! Looking forward to their release of skins for the SGS2.
EDIT: Just received news from Gelaskins that the skins for the SGS2 should be up on the site on Monday or Tuesday!
SGS2 Skins now available
Thanks for the heads up
Brilliant

I'm gonna order mine tonight i think... some great looking skins on their
Just a thought!!!!
Would the skin not interfere with the touch keys at the bottom?
Hi, I just got an HTC Imagio a couple of months ago from this amazon sale, it was like 135 dollars or something like that. I got it and it was an average phone and really good for the price, but I got here on xda and searched the forums and browsed and downloaded and flashed and installed and unzipped and etc etc etc, and thanks to you guys my HTC Imagio from 2009 now works wonders, it runs nicely and smooth it looks beautiful, I even have it overclocked all the time from 528mhz to 749mhz all the time, I got all the apps I need and everybody tells me it looks fantastic and it does!! I even got the playstation emulator and it runs really good, so thank you guys for making this site and for making all this threads on different phones and all this you do, you really are helping a lot a lot of people around the world, so thanks and God bless you. I'm Mexican btw here phones are really expensive and people would buy my fixed imagio for no less than 250 or 300dlls e.g. stores here sell the sony vivaz like in 450dll, and it's resistive touchscreen and not even android or windows well, we all know the sony vivaz, so yeah, phones are THAT expensive...
Bienvenido!
Nice to see more Mexicans around
And nice 1st post!
Buena suerte!
(good luck!)
