Generic HELP for my trinity - P3600 ROM Development

I need HELP for my trinity!!
I don't what exactly happened, or better, I was Trying to cook my own ROM, after some test I try to put again ROM Karmba_A 7.2 that previously works perfectly.
In this phase my problems begins....
1 - After the update my storage card was completely formatted , I loose everything, especially backups baut is not the main problem.
2 - I install karmba once again, but with a strange issue, I can't have incoming calls notification, only the small phone near the signal bar is shown, nothing else, phone doesn't ring, no popup, NOTHING.
3 - I can't install some programs, some dialers and so on... (for example I try to install duronmarcel iphone style dialer but is impossible, ppc give msg "Installation of .... was unsuccesful" and nothing else)
4 - I try to install another rom and everything is good, i install karmba once again and the problem comes back.
5 - Now I have schap's rom, but I have same issue as point 3.
I already try mtty procedure, i flash original HTC rom, anyone knows whatelse I can do please...

This happened once to me with the ROM I cooked myself. The solution is really simple: redownload the CAB. But you know, it took me ages to figure out that the cab was corrupted even the fact is I stored my CABS on laptop not the storage card.

"Not Enough Memory" troubleshooting thread

So, some of you have this error, some dont. So lets try and figure it out. Heres what we know.
The problem affects ALL Artemis WM6 ROMS.
Remember, the issue doesnt appear when just using it normally. Its only under certain circumstances. Heres how you re-create the problem.
Run Tomtom, this causes the error90% of the time.
Create a new word document and try to save anywhere.
Heres my setup and what ive tried to fix it.
Device: MDA Compact III
SD Card: 1gb
Ive tried font cache size, system cache, removing the memory card.
Please dont post "I dont get the error" if you havnt tried running tomtom or saving a word document.
Thanks
To add to the problem re-creation, I was trying to copy a directory with around 15 files in it from the internal memory to the storage card, the message just kept popping up for all the duration of the copy process, I stoppped clicking ok eventually. I looked at the free program mempry available then and it was pretty good at around 22mb.
Device: Orbit XDA
SD Card: 1gb
I too have noticed that looking at the free storage space seems to fix it for tomtom (but not word). There is something else wrong with Excel in that the "Save As" is in the wrong place, infact where it is isnt actually save as.
You're right, I haven't noticed this before with excel. I can't remember if it was like this before, was it? It won't be easy figuring this little memory issue out. I hope someone has a trick up their sleeves.
I have the WM6 emulator running on my pc and the excel thing isnt there. Comparing the registry settings on the emulator with my device. I would love to hear if anyone does actually have Word working without issue.
BREAKTHROUGH!
OK. I installed the original Orbit rom and... IT WORKS!!!! So the question is what did bepe and the guys do when they de-branded it? The orbit rom has an Ext-Rom with a load of branded stuff PLUS! some patches. I bet one of these patches fixes the issue!
These custom roms have NO Ext-Rom at all, hence the increased storage space. however in the process of removing the ext rom they have managed to cause these memory errors.
So guys, any chance of a rom close to the Orbit rom but with the English language and Ext rom left in tack?
Great work mate, it is the removal/merging of the extended rom that's causing the problem then. Maybe it's not even a patch in the extended rom, maybe it's the way the extended rom was merged that's causing it. This surely deserves more looking into.
Great breakthrough
Word FIX!
Thanks to pvdhelm for the tip on this one. Attached is a patch to fix the memory issue with word (and only word). To fix it for other apps you need to view the memory in the control panel and click on "Storage Card". The word fix is pernament but the other memory issue it only until you reset your phone.
Absolutely brilliant, so it looks like missing registry entries!! We need to find out what was in the original extended rom then to find out if we're missing anything else. Looks like only me and you here, you should post this fix in the main threads mate.
Cheers and well done.
I have a copy of the rom, tried isntalling it all but to no avail. It looks like on boot up the system thinks it has a different ammount of ram due to the ext rom being merged. By displaying the ammount of storage it realises it has a different ammount and fixes it. Until the next reboot. So if anyone knows what changes when you view the storage that may be fixing it I would love to know.
Or if somone can make a rom with the ext rom still in place.
EDIT: Heres one just for the MDA Compact III without WiFi users. It applys the Word memory errror fix but also fixes the Comm Manager issue and does so just for the MDA as it removes WiFi from the list.
Maybe this is a clue for you all. I have never had these errors, ands I use Tomtom daily and have tested word for you again with no fault.
The difference? Well I upgraded to WM6.0 the original way before USPL patch and flashed the OS only. I'm assuming you with problems used the ROM installer method. Am I right with my assumption? If so that should narrow down the culprit.
I used Bepes original WM6 WWE OS only upgrade, therefore the Ext ROM on my device is still the old T-Mobile WM5 one and was simply not allowed to run. So it can't be right to assume there is something missing from an EXT ROM patch.
It's most certainly the extended rom being merged then, there's nothing else to it.
gajet, can you give me the exact steps you took. I went from the T-Mobile rom to Black and blue then to the others. I uses USPL first though.
Can you give me a quick set of steps you took i.e Original T-Mobile rom, then ran USPL, then updated to Bepes.
Also, if you used bepe's can you also tell me which rom update util you used? as the one ive tried has errors at the end.
Thanks

VERY interesting reading!
If you move this thread, please drop a link on here for us, thanks. The first one to crack this problem will be worshipped from afar I am sure!!
I think it could be an order of upgrade issue, heres the latest.
1. Downgraded to T-Mobile WM5 rom
2. Ran USPL
3. Upgraded to Bepe WM6 using the EXE version
The word issue is no longer there but the out of memory in Tomtom is. Also no ext rom.
It would be good to know from others and gajet what steps they took and which files they uses to do it. Especially as gajet still has his extended rom.
I've tried:
official t-mobile wm5 to german wm6 to bepe uspl &
official t-mobile wm5 to bepe uspl
Both times I have had the error with tomtom but no problems with word.
Both times temp fix (looking at storage) worked (sorry about font cache red herring - thought I was onto something there).
Just tied chi-tai extended battery plugin with the storage showing on the homepage (as a way to force system to get correct memory) but no joy.
I have htc touch com manager and phone skin but not the home plugin.
Cheers
Matt
I think Ive cracked it. Just doing some final testing but watch out for a new "How to" thread.
go Danny go.
Look forward to seeing it.
Will test and report back once you've posted.
Cheers
Matt
Sadly the original thread was edited to reflect the OS update was repackaged but eddie2k still goes on the reexplain the process in this thread.
eddie2k said:
then use winrar to unpack the (bepe) wm6 wwe rom in this page (written in red). flashed using bootloader method.
after u get german rom installed , run ARTE os flash utility from xda ftp (log in properly) link don't work if not logon properly..
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Artemis/arte.zip unpack
copy os.nb from first folder (bepe) wwe rom to arte folder and rename os.nb to windows.nb then run UpgradeRom.bat
hard reset, soft reset done.

Now I didn't bother installing the german O2 release as my MDACIII was CID locked, so I just used ARTE package with Bepes WM6 .nb renamed and flashed the OS only, then after hard resetting, at the point of about to load EXT ROM soft reset.
This thread was also the guide although you could skip the process of extracting the .os from a ROM package as Bepe originally provided us with the raw windows.nb file.
Thanks gajet, Ive just posted the steps. Your post was deffinatly the key. Once I saw you still had your ext rom I knew we could do it.

Problem Halting my phone

Hi
I HardSPL my phone with Hard-SPL-V7 then I have update wm6.1 (OS+5.2.19209+(Build+19209.1.0.2+PV+DVH)+(B&C)+8MB+PP.rar) but
my phone is continuous halting after 5 to 6 hours as well as 1 to 2 days then after halting i have to hard rest the phone to run again. I have change many roms but the halting problem remains same.
Please anybody help me
Regards
you need to flash a stock windows mobile rom. the best seems to be the ATT rom.
Do this before you flash any rom and it is sure to fix your problems.
You are able to find the rom in the WIKI.
thanks for ur reply
i have download rom from wiki but not installing in my phone
actually i have imate jasjam radio version 1.07.03.10. problem is
when i install rom in my phone error occur the rom version problem or cable not connect.
note that i already install hard spl v7. ipl 2.01 olipro
what should i do. may i downgrade radio version before install wiki rom?
please help me
You could try flashing the ROM from the SD Card, I had the same problem and that worked for me. Instructions on how to do so in the wiki.
Thanks hamster, I have successfully install wiki ROM with following steps.
1 - Download wiki rom for my mobile
2 - Download Dutty's Good NBH Tool
3 - Extract .nbh file from wiki rom
4 - Create new .nbh file from Dutty's Good NBH tool
5 - Install new rom from RUUWrapper.exe.
Please tell me now what to do? am i install wm6.1 now?
ialwaywanted, you are using the wrong instructions... What you need to do is format an sd card fat 32. copy the .nbh file onto the sd card and rename it to "hermimg.nbh". Put the sd card back into you phone and go into bootloader(hold ok button above flywheel, power button and use stylus to soft reset. hold all three buttns in until you get to tri-colour screen). It should automatically detect the os upgrade and ask you to push power button to upgrade os. After it finishes soft reset and you will have successfully upgraded os with sd card. I find this safer than using the pc as ther will be no "accidents" with power, usb cable being yanked or resetting of the pc.
Hope this helps..... Cheers...
Yes i have successfully install rom in phone from SD card. Greart its working thanks a lot.
But my actual problem is when i install wm6.1 its stuck my phone on any screen then i hardrest the phone which cause all my installed progam and data was removed from phone.
Please suggest.
I seem to have success with Pdaviet 19900 and 19581. These were very stable for me when others weren't. You might need to experiment with different series of 6.1.
As for backing up everything on my phone, I use SPB backup. Please note however it is a commercial program. Also, you have to be restoring the backup on the same version and series of wm6.1 otherwise you will have problems.
It puts EVERY file back exactly as found so upgrading then running the restore is pointless. You have to find the right rom then backup. Make sure you back up regularly though or else you will find things missing. Cheers....

Invisible CommMgr & No Permission

Hello everybody,
Now here comes a strange one! At least to me.
I have a HTC P3300 with the official WM6. I had installed all the Homeplugins, dial skin, comm manager, etc, to get it to look like a HTC Touch (without the cube).
Never had any installation problem.
Recently I came too close to the memory limit, so I decided that I would install most things to the storage card (yeah I know, real experts do that the first time, lol). Everything went fine, except for the 8-Button-CommManager (I can't tell you the exact file name because I changed it, but I downloaded it from this site).
The installation was succesfully, but the CommManager is invisible, well not quite invisible but you can see through. Just seeing the text but no buttons, no icons, just the Todayscreen behind with the button-text floating.
I re-installed it: first I was asked if I wanted to remove the old one which I approved. Installation failed, no permission! I never had this!
I tried again. This time no question about the old one, just the "no permission"-reply.
Of course I googled this but I haven't found anyone having this problem with a program he was able to install in the past. (No permission -> you have to unlock your phone, etc okay for those who never could install anything...or am I wrong)
Thanks a lot for answering (forgive my english, I got a little nervous with this problem )
PROBLEM SOLVED!
So for those who have encountered this problem, or for those just wanting to know about it, I found a solution after some intense googling.
The CommManager has some known bug, that it does this invisble thing when it is installed to the storage card, without giving you the possibility to uninstall it via "remove programs".
Just reinstall it to the memory. No problem so far.

Goin' nuts! Who can help me with this?

Hello all, best wishes for all of you.
I am new on this forum and read many stuff here allready. However i didn't find a real solution yet for my problem to get cab-files installed, f.e.:
I'd like to install Gyrator 2 on my HTC Touch HD (UK) (And other software)
When i try this i get this error:
"The file "gyrator" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file".
The same message occures when i try to do this with other cab-files. GSen was going fine and even CabInstaller did. Net Compact Framework 3.5. installed and ROM version: 1.14.401.3
I copied the cab-files from PC to PPC by dragging it into the Storage Card.
I would really appreciate your help, because im goin' nuts!!!
Tia ....
Hello.
try this:
- make a soft reset and try again to install from the SD card
- make a soft reset, copy the .cab file with activesync to the phone memory (not on the SD card) and try again to install
when this also won´t work I´m afraid you will have to hard reset your phone..
i had same problem
why dont you just use Gsen, same thing, works great! its definately here

As said it is not only Gyrator but it occures with more cab-files. The rotate is not my only goal, therefor i surely could use Gsen, but Gyrator 2 cn do much more. The same with other 3rd Party's ...
Use Advanced Configuration to make sure that your security warning is disabled.
What .cabs are you trying to install?

Problem solved! The way i used CabInstaller was wrong. Instead of open the CaBinstaller first and then adding the cab-file and destination path, i double clicked on the cab-files first and then it won't work, because i gave CabInstaller permission to take over the control of installing cab-files
Thank you anyway for thinking with me ..
Great to hear you solved your problem!
<off-topic>Could you please change your subject in the initial post? subject is supposed to describe what the thread is about like "unable to install CAB files" or something like that...thanks<off-topic>

Help with imate Jasjam

Hi,
Here's my situation
I have an imate Jasjam. It was originally running WM5 (factory shipped). I upgraded to WM6.1 using Pandora Naked ROM from one of the posts. Everything works fine.
However, since it was a very lite version; and also because I wanted to upgrade to WM6.5, I tried to upgrade to WM6.5 using one of the ROMs from the XDA threads. However, that's where my problems started.
Anything I do now ends up either being Error 246 or Error 260. I even tried re-running the original hard-spl + pandora naked rom steps to see if that works. Even that doesnt' work anymore.
I searched on the Wiki and found a guide to downgrade and resolve my issue. However, the guide link is broken. I tried searching more and found some steps to install .net framework which I did. Tried using different USB ports. I had been doing all this on an XP machine. One of the steps was to try using another machine. I tried on another machine which runs Vista, no luck.
If someone can help troubleshoot or give a working link to that guide, I'll deeply appreciate it. Like I said, the phone works fine, but it's a very lite ROM. When i try to install anything, it gives me the digitally unsigned error and just exits. Doesn't let me go ahead with teh intsallation. So, I'm here without a calculator, without MS Office, without a video call dialer, nothing.
Thanks in advance.
Please help stuck with the same problem

Well my friend i used to have the same problem, solved by putting Hard spl on the mobile run it and then flash the original AT wm6 from the threats, then reflash it with any rom wm6.5 from your choice..
P.S. Flashing the rom through your SD card and don't forget to rename the NBH. file before flashing.
You must have Hard SPL V7 to flash using the sd card method. Then....
1. Format sd card FAT32. Copy .nbh file of rom onto sd card and rename to Hermimg.nbh .
2. Insert sd card into Hermes and reset to bootloader (tri-colour screen)
3. Follow onscreen instructions.
Cheers...
Thanks dayhauck and ultramag. I will try your solutions and let you know how thigns go. appreciate your help.

Hi,
I tried doing the update via the SD card. No go.
However, I think I figured out what I was doing wrong. While running the ROM upgrade, when the program asks you to choose between the various SPL versions, initially, I was choosing Force SPL without checking the Is it Hard SPL checkmark. This time, I put a checkmark there and voila.... everything worked like a charm.
Now, I have WM6.5 and it works beautifully.
However, there are always issues, ain't there?
The only thing that don't work now are....
1. When I'm on Activesync, Internet doesn't work. However, when I connect via Wi-Fi, it works. I tried playing around with the activesync settings, no go.
2. In pocket Outlook, I am able to configure Yahoo and Gmail. However, hotmail doesn't work.
I would appreciate any help.
And once again, thanks for all your help dayhauck and ultramag.

1. When I'm on Activesync, Internet doesn't work. However, when I connect via Wi-Fi, it works. I tried playing around with the activesync settings, no go. [ONLY IE DOESN'T WORK WITH ACTIVESYNC. REST EVERYTHING WORKS ON ACTIVESYNC. ]
2. In pocket Outlook, I am able to configure Yahoo and Gmail. However, hotmail doesn't work. [RESOLVED]
