Im running Windows Mobile 5 on my Universal. I havent done any ROM ungrades to it and wanted to know if its possible to install WM2003 (which i prefer) or WM6 on it, and if so, where do i get the files?
Can someone recommend any upgrades that I could perform anyway, eg ROMS, Radio, etc?

And if I didn't like it, can I return it to the original WM 5.0???....

I'm sure if you can find a WM6 build for your Iteq X-Bond then you can certainly flash it.
I'm also sure that if you can dump your ROM, and have the necessary tools to restore it should you wish to return to WM5, then you can do this also.
Or if you can find a different WM5 ROM image you could also flash to that.
As you may have noticed though, we deal with HTC devices mainly here, and there's nothing dedicated to your device.
I think it is risky to upgrade your device to wm6. Since iteq has 64MB rom and as far as I know, wm6 needs at least 128MB. (correct me if I wrong), So until now I have not tried these wm6 extended roms on my iteq device.

I would be pretty chuffed if i could find a wm6 upgrade for my rxr4540 too. It should cream it.
If nobody has done it before, i have upgraded my HTC himalaya with the wm6 rom. Could i user that rom to upgrade with but without the radio pckage?

I red a lot of articles and posts here but I cannot find what is the exact procedure to upgrade my HP iPaq HX2750 which is running now WM 2003 SE to the current WM6. I red a posts to update it from WM5 to WM6 but no information how to do it from Windows mobile 2003 SE.
Can someone help me with the procedure if it is possible?
I downloaded the following files from the forum but in some posts I red there are additional steps first to upgrade the device to WM5 than to WM6?

Hi! I'm new on this forum, and SORRY for bumping an old thread, but I'm looking for help, and this thread has the topic I'm wondering about.
I have a HTC Qtek 9100 WM 5.0, and I have now tried to upgrade to WM 6.1 version 2.6 and 2.7 and WM 6.5, but NONE of them are working or giving me any upgrades at all! (the only upgrade i got was the "new" HTC-logo in 1-2 seconds before it turns back to the old logo from WM5.0)
The SPL is still 1.06 after the upgrading, and I'm not getting any error-messages at all on my computer or on my HTC, but something is defenitely wrong!

(PS: I don't need the WM6.5, but maybe the 6.1-version? any sugestions?)

Hi, I have xda orbit which I bought from o2 and is still on o2 running wm5 and following details when I reset the device:
IPL 1.25.0001
SPL 1.25.0000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 1.25.0.0
I would like to upgrade this to wm6 or wm6.1. Can someone advise me what I need to do to upgrade to wm6 or wm 6.1?

upgrade to wm6 is easy, bcoz O2 has provided that update, but not sure about wm6.1 coz it never came on O2 site(http://www.o2online.de/nw/assets/blobs/software/xdaorbit-windows-update.exe). I am not saying its not possible but the will be some trick involved to do so.... CID unlocking.... blah blah...
I have done the wm6.0 update but now looking for wm6.1.
Why dont you update to wm 6.5, its just as fast as 6.0 and the last cooked rom from shady has more then 30 ram free. In WM5 (1,5 years ago for me) my free ram memory wasnt that high!

aha, thats no easy answer yes.
Well the waranty will be gone yes, since its not a official rom.
But chance of bricking is small.
Better read here on the fora and first learn a bit more about this, read the posts of some threads in the windows mobile 6 section.
