A friend with a nokia phone sent me a couple of MMS video files but when I open them up they are blank. But they have an extension of 3GP. Does anyone know if the Artemis will read these by default or TCPMP play them. Or do you need to convert these firstly. If so to what format? any advice appreciated...cheers JD76...
TCPMP does handles 3gp, within TCPMP go to Options > Settings > Select Page > File Associations and make sure the second box on the list is ticked (MPEG files (MP4, MOV, 3GP, M4A etc) i think once that is ticked and you go to your mms tcpmp will pick it up, but dont hold me to that.

Thanks Wooley tried this but when i play it it gives unknow file format. When you try to save the file it says it does not have a file name extension MMS composer will correct this attachment by adding amr as the extension. So I allow this and rename through gsfinder...still no joy any other ideas. maybe the file is corrupt...I'll try and check this. Also can you PM me the scots flag as I used to have this but during the upgrade of the site it was lost and the administrator at the time could not recreate this. Thanks jd..
It's okay re flag I see they have added Scotland as a country it only used to have the UK.
Hey did you get this sorted? I have exactly the same issue, and I'm on o2 too. Totally stumped on this one.
I've had 3 different roms and it's the same on all, I'm wondering if it is an o2 issue. But I am struggling to contact anyone with any intelligence at o2.

Ok, I'm very sorry if this is a total noob question... I suspect it is. I searched on several occasions to find posts about it but came up with nothing.
I have a Cingular 8525 and I am currently enjoying the cooked Cingy Black rom. My problem is with Media Player. I have a 100 or so mp3 files on my storage card and I would love for them to show up in Media player but they do not.
From the Library screen I choose "Menu" > "Update Library". It searches for files and finds the ones I want... shows that it is "Adding files..." but when it is finished there still isn't any music available. I can browse and select files but I can't create playlists and so forth.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Were these non-DRM mp3 files? Or were you using something like Napster to sync them before?
If they were DRM, when you flashed the ROM windows no longer has the DRM licenses for the songs. If so, You just need to sync again. Deleting the old DRMed mp3s
I have the same problem and they are not drm files.

Try MORTPLAYER. That is what I use to get around...
does it support bluetooth playing and when i press the "next" button on the headset it goes to the next song?
I am sure you guys have done this, but if your mp3 are on storage card, make sure you select "Storage Card" instead of "My Device" under the menu/Library pull up. By default it's set to My Device which will turn up empty list.
I had a problem with this once before as well. Its weird because on my moms and brothers 8525 you can choose in the storage card as an option to view files where mine requires me to go to the menu (bottom right) and select open file. You can locate your storage card and playlists. I just got the moto s9's and they work awsome and I can control from headset.
also make sure you didnt delete the METADATA folder on your storage card because thats used by WMP to see the files on the card. Make sure you have "view all files" checked off on file explorer.
You may have a corrupt playlist - this happens to me a lot. Try deleting the folder "MSMETADATA" from your storage card (you'll need to select "show all files" in File Explorer's Menu to see this directory), then go back into media player and rebuild your library.

This is _exactly_ what has been happening to me. Never had an issue with TCPMP or MortPlayer. But I have to use WMP10 to play my new DRMed Napster tracks (what can I say, all-you-can-eat is sweetness).
This is what I did to fix (for now) the problem. It happened after about...a week after uploading some tracks:
1. Shut down WMP. (Start>Settings>System>Memory>Running Programs>)
2. Delete MSMETADATA folder on storage card through file explorer.
3. Open WMP and Menu>Update Library.
If I don't do step 3 WMP doesn't have the option of using the storage card.
Thanks for the help!
i had this problem before...
fix: file explorer > storage card > DELETE the folder MSMETADATA nd then reupdate...should work...always does for mee at least
I have a wav file that I made a long time ago to use as my text tone from my first tilt. I got it on my tilt 2 and put it in windows on the phone and it works initially. but everytime I reset my phone the file stops working. so I go to the folder where its at and when i try to play it i get this message
"cannot play the file because the specified network protocol is not supported. If you entered a URL to play the file, try a different protocol (such as HTTP). If you clicked a link to play the file, the link might not be valid"
I have no idea why its doing this. when i copied the file from my sd card to the device I didn't paste a shortcut, so there shouldn't be a "link"
and what kind of special protocol could be affecting a 2 second wav file?
Nevermind. Put the file in application data - sounds and that took care of it. Just in case anyone else comes across my problem
Hey guys,
I've found an easy way to implement custom mp3 files into the game. The radio station .nfx files are actually renamed mp3's. Even better: they're only recorded in 96 kbit / 32 KHz, but GTA3 plays 192 kbit / 44 KHz files just as well.
This is how to add your own files:
1. Download mergemp3 (freeware, search Google) and start it
2. Put all your mp3 files into the track list
3. Chose View -> Preferences and check the "Merge using raw stream mode" box, click "OK"
4. Press Ctrl+M or chose File -> Merge
5. Select save location and name the file CHAT.mp3; after the merging process is finished, rename the file to CHAT.nfx
6. Overwrite the file CHAT.nfx on your phone (sdcard/Android/data/com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3/audio) with your newly created file.
7. Start the game and select the "Chatterbox" radio station - voilá
There's no apparent size limit - the original files take up only 15-20 MB of space, but I've created a 717 MB CHAT.nfx file, and it's playing just fine.
Of course, you can also replace any other radio station, or you can replace all of them - CD changer style ;-)
Have fun!!
I tried this, but couldn't get it to work. How can i overwrite the file? I had to copy it(CHAT.nfx) to the folder and then delete the old file(CHAT.nfx). But it didn't work..
What exactly didn't work? Did you still hear the Chatterbox station? Or was there no audio at all on this channel?
Two shots in the dark: I can confirm this method works with mp3's in 128, 160 & 192 kbit, all with constant bitrate. Have you saved your mp3's with variable and/or higer bitrate? Maybe that causes issues, I'll try to check it out - right now I'm replacing all 9 radio stations with custom audio (1.5 GB of audio data) that contains some VBR files.
Second, are you sure your file is named correctly? I use MyPhone Explorer to copy files for instance, but instead of overwriting the old file, MPE renames the new one, so it's better to backup & delete the original CHAT.nfx first, then copy the custom file.
Cheers!
So... the bitrate setting shouldn't cause any problems. I've just played an Amazon mp3 download in GTA, IIRC that's 320 kbit VBR or something like that.
How large is your CHAT.nfx? I haven't tried more than the beforementioned 717 MB, and the 9 custom files I'm using now are all between 130 and 200 MB in size.
1. I named the file correctly.
2. The radio station(chatterbox) didnt play anything and it skipped to the "radio off" and after you couldnt change the channel anymore, it was stuck to "radio off"
3. All my mp3's are 128 or higher
Strange. How large is your nfx file? And did you merge your mp3's with MergeMp3? Have you tried copying a single mp3 file as CHAT.nfx to see if it works at all?
My file was 64MB and yes I merged it with mergemp3's. Haven't tried the single file, will give it a go and let you know
Ok, I tried the single file and the same thing happend it skipped to the radio off sign
Right, let's try this:
unzip the attachment to your game dir (mount/sdcard/Android/data/com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3/audio), overwriting the existing CHAT.nfx.
This sound file works on my phone. Just for the record, I'm not violating any copyright here, it's a free mp3 I've downloaded from www.steveunruh.com and renamed to CHAT.nfx.
Hope this helps. Btw, which phone model do you have?
Merry Christmas ;-)
Hi, thx for the reply becuase your file worked. The difference is that your file is actually a nfx file, while mine even after renaming it to CHAT.nfx still remains a mp3 file, if you know what I mean. That's the problem. How did you change your mp3 file to nfx file?
Merry Xmas to you too!

Ok, I got it working now, all I had to do was change the file extension to nfx(folder options and unclicked the hide extensions box)

I'm using root file explorer to connect to my Samba shared NAS (goflex home).
If I copy a .mkv file to my local sdcard, when I click the file (in file expert) it gives me the popup of what program I want to open the video file in. I click mxplayer, it plays just fine.
But if I connect via SMB to my NAS, when I click the same .mkv file, it won't let me pick a video player; instead it says it can't find a default program for this type of file, do I want it to search for one or no thanks. Search for one fails, and no thank just returns me to the File Expert screen. If I want to take the time (and SPACE) I can copy that same mkv file to my sdcard and play it.
So, my question is, how do I get file Expert to give me the video player prompt when connecting via SMB?
As a side not I've tried ES File Explorer in Lan Mode and always get Login Failure connecting to the goflex_home NAS (even though I've triple checked the login credentials and am using the same as in File Expoer).
I've also tried Avia to use DLNA and it sometime works but it doesn't show my Samba shares, it shows my DLNA shares and for some reason doesn't show all of them, including the files I want to play (and yes I shared them already with the Goflex Home config panel.
tl;dr -- how do I tell file expert to use mxplayer when browsing SMB shares, instead of the popup asking to find a program to handle the file?
Edit: Made some progress; tweaked the ES File Expert connection settings to connect to the root of my share and can connect and it gives me the choice of what file player to use -- though it seems to fail streaming. the same file I can play fine from sdcard chokes and is unplayable over streaming.
Alternately, does anyone have a better solution for this problem entirely?
Edit2: Sorry a but more info. When the mkv file is on my sdcard and I click it, I get the same error popup. If I hold down on the file fore afew seconds, I can click "Open As" then "Video" then pick my player. But in SMB exploring, holding down doesn't have an "Open as" option in the menu.
i second this question... same here with samba!!!
anybody knows?
It gives me option to select the player.
I have AFTV setup and root , running Kodi 14.1 Helix.
It does not play any RTMP streams
Example: Several channels in Navi-X, if I click a channel ...I see IP address RTMP at the bottom .
But nothing plays.
How to make RTMP Files play?

You can try to update the RTMP that is bundled in with your Kodi. This might be necessary as sites change their mechanism for streaming using the protocol. For ref see, http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Update_librtmp
As per the wiki, you replace the existing file at this location /data/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/lib/librtmp.so (use Kodi file structure). Backup your existing so file for reverting back to it in case of issues. Do a proper shutdown of Kodi, replace file and restart Kodi.
To get the latest one, you can go to https://www.mediafire.com/folder/spicq7r8l3n5f/Librtmp
The latest one seems to be from Feb 2nd, 2015. I have attached a copy. Other Kodi link discussing RTMP on official forum is http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=162307
I have not replaced mine from the stock one that came with Kodi. So, not sure if that will fix your Navi-X issue, but worth a try.
Remove the ".txt" at the end of the file name, so that the extension is ".so"

dbdoshi, Are you able to play RTMP files ?
I just downloaded Live Stream Player after watching this video.
Download from here: http://store.mdcgate.com/products.php?productId=18
It supports RTMP files...I was wondering if there is anyway to use this to launch XBMC RTMP streams
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttwo2kAHsho
I will also try the spmc version from here to see if it helps
http://www.mediafire.com/download/wd4b9cf82b4y9bp/spmc-armeabi-v7a_14.1.0-signed.apk
No, I have not tried. I have a movie paused and will try after I am done in the evening.
As far as using external players within Kodi, see:
http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Use_external_players_on_Android
http://kodi.wiki/view/External_players
Google search indicates these players with promise:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videolan.vlc.betav7neon
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tencent.research.drop
If you make a working "playercorefactory.xml" file using your player, please post the content of that file. Appreciate it. Thanks.
So far no luck.
I can't seem to get it working even on my Mac.
I downloaded the lib for mac and tried

VLC or Aceplayer can both play rtmp on firetv. You need to edit the playercorefactory.XML to either use one of those apps as default for rtmp or just to have them lusted as alternate players which you would press the menu key on the rtmp link you want to at and select play using which will bring up the list of players you made in playercorefactory.xml
http://wiki.acestream.org/wiki/index.php/AceStream_3.0/en
https://get.videolan.org/vlc-android/
There is no need for the library to be added, just make sure you have VLC and/or Aceplayer installed on the firetv. This will not work if try setting it up on your Mac as it is configured for android/firetv.
I posted a copy of playercorefactory.XML with Ace player and VLC setup but still using dvdplayer as default for all video... If you want to automatically use VLC/Aceplayer then just edit it.

I tried to validate the XML (the playercorefactory.xml) and it was giving me issues. Not sure if I am doing something wrong here in validating it....
I did clean it up (with the meat of the file intact). Here it is:
Remove the ".txt" from the filename at the end.
EDIT: Open the xml file (after removing .txt) in any XML handler (Internet explorer being the most readily available). IE will make comments hazy and your XML tags bolded. Much easier to see what is commented out and what is not. Also, IE will intend your tags so that you can clearly see parent-child node relationships. If you cannot open an XML file in IE and not laid out correctly. the structure of your XML might be suspect...
You can use online XML validators, google search brings up plenty. They will tell you where your errors are (usually it will give the first error, fix it and revalidate. Keep fixing until you fix it all, LOL.
Thanks smartymcfly and dbdoshi.
I am trying the fixes right now.
Would never have been able to figure all this out without help from you 2!

Hi imtiaz,
Did this work for you? Also is this expected for a AFTV /Android? I'm wondering of the 2 methods (librtmp / external player) would be a preferred method and has anyone verified either methods of working on a AFTV?

What exactly do mean you were trying to validate the XML? I can put a space between each section to make it easier to read if needed but it should work as is.
Edit: I see what you are talking about, for some reason when last edited and saved the file it didn't save in the correct format because I was using an app on the phone that isn't made for XML but can still read the text. I edited it with notepad++ and now it should be good to go. I cleaned it up. It is set to automatically play rtsp & rtmp with vlc set as default and everything else is played by kodi which is DVDplayer. You can press the menu key and select play using if you would like to use an alternate player without editing the file.
I have two version of VLC and I am not sure which one everyone else uses that is why I listed both.
If you see the beginning if a line start as <!-- then that is telling Kodi to skip that line so if want to make it so VLC isn't default and make Kodi default then just put "!--" after the "<" on the line to make that way.
If you open this file in Jota+, or 920 text editor on android or firetv it will be color coordinated to let you know it is formatted correctly. And what is active or inactive in the file. On windows you can use notepad++ or on OSX you can use textwrangler....
