Aussie 3 network dopod 838 pro WM6 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi I have done a search on the existing thread but can't find any relevant topic (for aussie).
I have a dopod 838 pro current using Black 3.0.1
IPL 1.04
SPL 2.03
I have decided to flash the ROM back to the official 3 network WM6, so I downloaded the RUU from 3 network website, and run the RUU. It works fine until it booted the phone into bootloader mode, and it just won't continue anymore (no memory card in the slot) The error message is saying it can't detect my phone (well activesync doesn't recognise the phone in bootloader mode anyway).
So I un-packed the RUU, renamed the NBH file to Heraimg and put it to my microSD. however my phone (while in bootloader mode) doesn't detect the microSD card.
can anyone give me a hint here?

Cannot Downgrade to 2003SE - SX66
I own a SX66 Cingulair (USA) and I recently upgraded the ROM to WM5 but now having a lot of problems with it. I need to downgrade it back to 2003. I followed all the instructions in the link given in one of the posts above but the program MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe does not recognize my existing ROM or the new one and no update happens.
Can anyone help me please.

exactly the same here with SX66, but where did you get your ROM?
I also tried to apply SX66Upgrade.exe program which seems like WM2003SE installer, but this program says it cannot connect to device. I also was able to get nk.nbf from the temp folder and tried to run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe with this one, but it goes to the final screen without actually reflashing PDA. PDA still has WM5 installed.
I made a backup copy of my previous Win2003SE ROM to a SD card and restored it now from file back to SD card, but cannot find the way how to initiate ROM restore from SD card. I've read instructions saying: Insert SD card, put PDA into bootloader mode, select to restore from SD card, but in my case I just see "Serial 2.07" after going into bootloader mode and nothing else.
Found a way to Downgrade
Hi all:
After so much testing in frustration I moved the new ROM file to PH20B folder in the WM5_pack_V3 folder and ran the program BaUpgradeUt.exe. Now I know for SX66 which is a PH20B1 device we are supposed to use MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe in PH20B1 folder according the the downgrade link (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Downgrade_WM5)
I got the ROM from (http://sx66-blueangel.home.comcast.net/) which is version 1.40 and I am very happy with it. Before upgrading to WM5 I have unlocked this device using the unlocker program some where on this forum and I am not sure whether it has anything to do with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe not working.

need your help! restore ROM to MDA via SD card or mtty

Hi all,
I used mtty.exe r2sd all command to backup a working T-Mobile MDA rom (version 2.25) to SD card and tried to use it to restore a bricked (nearly bricked MDA), but I am getting "not allow update" error.
I can use mtty to connect the problematic MDA, and I have full backup of original ROM (version 1.08) via aWizard.
My question is: how to use mtty to restore the original rom? The back up rom were several .nba files, not bin file.
Thanks!
change to supercid without activesync connection
Now I can use mtty to check my MDA is not supercid. And when restoring ROM via SD card, it said "not allow update".
How can I change it to supercid without activesync connection?
Thanks!
problem fixed
OK, I just answer my own question.
The problem was I forgot to unlock cid before I flush rom. The rom update process stopped at 98% and after reboot it went into bootloader mode.
So I use patched_ruu.exe to write specical version rom to make it enter IU mode then magic happened: my MDA booted and intered the WM5 setting page.
Then I can get activesync connection and I immidiatly unlocked cid. Now everything back to normal.
The lesson is: ALWAYS unlock cid before flushing rom.
Happy flushing!

Atom Exec dead after upgrade

I have an Atom Exec with ROM 20060721B1WWE, Radio RS00011. In the seeO2 website I saw an upgrade (Xda Atom Exec ROM Upgrade (ENG) 20060721B1WWE_RS00013) which is the same ROM but different Radio, supposed to improve quality of calls.
Anyway I went to upgrade it, followed the steps until it said it was uploading it and it would take up to 30 minutes. I went to do something else and when came back the pc screen was saying that the process finished successfully, saying that I had to do a hard reset of the Atom, wait for 30 seconds and then soft restart. I did all of that and all I got it's the O2 screen and doesn't go any further.
Following indication on this forum I launched the bootloader (camera button+reset), conected the usb cable, killed activesync and run again the updater.
The DSUU can see the Atom, says 'Device CE image version:0, Device Radio Image version: (blank) to CE Image version: 7210621, Radio Image version: R060822N_MN2ARC_RS00013.
When I click on Upgrade I get an Error message: Connection error, also on the Atom says '!!! Please use DSUU in OS mode and sync with Pc first !!! USB transfer Fail'
The only backup I did prior to this was using SPB Backup, nothing for the ROM. Is there any other way to upload the ROM?
From the Windows/Temp folder I got the files used by the DSUU:
Device Software Update Utility.exe
diskimage_Ver.nb0
EBOOT.nb0
ExtenderRom.img
nova_pda_033105.mot
vl1d_pda_Ver.mot
I've seen in other forums people recovering iPaqs or Axims using these files and software like romupdate, but I'm afraid it could get worse uploading the diskimage_Ver.nb0 as it is.
Anybody knows a workaround for this?
I ended copying diskimage_Ver.nb0 and eboot.nb0 to an miniSD card. Inserted it in the Atom and lauch the bootloader. It recognized the card and Rom file, started downloading it. After that I got few messages saying some files were missing.
Screen went blank and that's it. Now is completly dead, it won't restart or anything.
I'll have to send it to Hong Kong I guess.

Connection Type has been changed to Serial in Bootloader

Dear Sirs;
I've done Hard Spl unsigned olinex 1.93 before and flashed various Cooked ROM befor (the last one was Diaduit 1.6.7). I decided to back to the original ROM, so connected the Diamond to computer and run the original ROM software (RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE-ME_2.03.456.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship.exe). everything was ok and the bar went to 100% BUT then Diamond hanged in Bootloader and "connection error" appeared in RUU screen. I flashed the diamond from internal memory by Diaduit "diamimg.nbh" file which I've placed there before but connection type has been changed from "USB" to "Serial" in Bootloader and I can't flash the mobile by PC anymore.
I will be rally apprecialed if you help to to change the "Serial" to "USB" in Bootloader.
Best Regards
Try following the steps in This Thread to ensure you have the right drivers for the connection on your computer.
If you have bad blocks in the onboard memory this should sort it out and then you can re-flash from internal storage.
MarkG
Let me correct the description. After complete the flash (by original ROM) in boot loader this message appears "Upgrade ROM code error. Please Try again" and in RUU screen (in PC) correction error appears.
I'm going to try MTTY.
Solved! It seems the problem related to the ROM (which I've downloaded from HTC site directly and installed successfully before!!?!) I tried another original ROM (RUU_Diamond_HTC_ARA_2.03.415.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship.exe) and diamond flashed successfully!

How to load the original ROM back?

I've been reading this forum and the internet for about 4 days now,
hence I post this question...
I have an HTC P3300 (Artemis) and tried flashing windows mobile 6.5 onto the ROM..
it reached about 56% when the usb cable got unplugged and the flash failed.
I can get it into bootloader mode...
I'm from India and the original carrier was Idea.(I suppose so, because it had an Idea screen for a few seconds when the phone was switched on)
I used to use a Vodafone SIM, so I guess it was already CID unlocked.
Tried flashing various roms.. including the HTC windows mobile 6.0 worldwide edition, the t-mobile edition and the sprint edition from this site, after putting it into bootloader mode.
Windows Mobile Device Center will obviously not run, as the phone doesnt go beyond displaying this :
IPL 3.07.0001
SPL 3.07.0000
GSM 02.69.90
OS 1.27.0.0
I havent done a HardSPL and I suppose that the ROM flash only changed the OS ... everything else was probably the same.
I can't get mtty to work via USB....nonetheless, I have no clue how to use mtty.
Here are the filenames of the ROMs i've tried:
1. Evolution 23820 ...(downloaded off some site with windows mobile screenshots that got me all "WOW!")
2. Artemis Vanilla 2.0 WWE
3. ART_TMOUK_11311001_024990_WWE_Ship_R3.exe ..(T-mobile)
4. HTC_P3300_WWE_3.13.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe ..(this one should have worked)
5. HTC_P3300_NLD_3.13.404.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe ..(this one's probably german)
6. Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 (some .uif cd image that i downloaded off rapidshare..about 65 MB)
7. Opal_WM6.5_D24_21901_COM2_WWE (I know I shouldn't have tried this, but this was my first attempt after successfully updating a touchviva to windows mobile 6.5, but I was a complete n00b back then..)
I tried all these ROMs mostly using a "ROM Update Utility" included with the package..
I also tried getting the .nbh files out and putting them on a 1GB microSD after renaming them "ARTEIMG.nbh" ...it used to say "Checking SD card".. and then would show the RGB bootloader again with :
IPL 3.07.0001
SPL 3.07.0000
Errors I received while flashing through USB :
1. Invalid Vender ID (390)
2. Connection Error (260)
it generally stops at 3%
What should I do now?
Thanks for reading.
ouhh doesnt look very good. but happens aaand can be solved.
try this:
Hardreset your phone
or reinstall the originalrom in bootmode: link
please keep care of the usb cable. or try to reflash your phone via sd-card. its very easy and less dangerous.
tried both
hard reset lands u to the same place.. HTC logo and IPL SPL GSM OS...
installing the rom from the link given ... shows a connection error(in bootloader mode)
and did you try to install another rom via sd card.
wihtout pc-connection?
You have to first unlock your device by uspl and then install the rom or simple way is by using sd card. Search the forum for upgrading Artemis by sd
ok, but how do i use uspl if all i can get to is bootloader mode?????
i thought that u need to have windows mobile running well to use uspl...
WM5 English ROM
Does anyone have the windows mobile 5 english rom for artemis?
I tried the french WM5 rom from rapidshare.. but it doesnt work...
I got it to work!!!!
thanks to all you helpful kind smart people at xda!
well.. you people kept me searching for answers...
i found the original rom at an htc south asia site.. windows mobile 6.0
the htc artemis p3300 is also called "dopod" on that site...
anyway... the only reason i couldnt get to it in the start was that it said the cellphone serial number i'd entered wasn't eligible for the update..
i just messed with the last few digits (interchanged them) and got it to accept the download...
that was plain lucky,...
but it wouldve never happened if i hadn't tried..
now.. i'm going to do an artemis uspl via windows mobile device center according to the guides on various fora..
thanks people!
i want to post the rom to some site so that people can get it even 3 years from now... (most of my links were all from 2007.. so the rapidshare downloads hardly ever worked!).. but i don't know how..
