Custom RUU has encountered a problem - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I"m a Flash Junkie, I like to Try Different Roms.... Lately I"ve been Building my Own Using the Kitchens but today I decided to Flash a New ROM and I got this Error Message....
Custom RUU has encountered a problem and needs to close. We Are Sorry for The Inconvenience.
I tried to use the Search But all Threads containg the Words Custom and RUU came up , I even tried to Google it... No success....
Anyone have a Fix for this ?
EDIT : I read this Thread HERE but Reinstalling the .NET 2.0 didn't Help me.
I"m Running TnT Special Edition ROM

Try installing all three .Net framework versions from MS. (1.0 , 2.0 and 3.5) since olipro is most definatly up to date with the stuff he makes.
Install all of them then have another go.

I'll try that... I"ll be out in NJ for Work for at least 4 days, When I get back home I"ll try it and Report back here

I'm having the same problem, using a PC and handset that I have previously updated successfully. I've tried re-installing the .net versions. Any other ideas?

Rename the RUU exe file
I faced the similar problem.I installed all the 3 .NET framework versions, but it was of no use.I then tried renaming the file "RUU_Raphael_Cingular_US_5.11.502.2_Radio_Sign_Raphael_52.64c.25.35_1.14.25.35_Ship.exe" to something short like "RUU_Raphael_Cingular.exe" and that worked like a charm.
Hope this helps.

Help flashing S620 after replacing screen??

I have had my s620 for a while now and everything has been fine, flashed it with a rickys rom then changed my mind and went with kavanas (sp?) then something happened....
i broke the darn screen!, not a problem i replaced it. simple but... i lost all my settings, smart toolkit and the t9 programs were no longer installed?
i've been trying to flash back to kavanas or the new rose rom with no luck, whatever i do it wont run the SPL part of the auto.bat ???
i've unlocked it again, played with the usb connection settings, everything i can think of! someone please help!
i've attached a screen shot of where it hangs for you...
***EDIT*** and i have tried all the obvious things, and some of the less obvious (running the SPL file myself from the device, restarting the device, hard reset, etc)
Maybe try flashing with your official ROM first. I don't know that much but what ever is screwed up from having a broken screen might get fixed doing that. I know, annoying extra step but worth a shot...
i wish it was so simple lol!
I cant find my official rom anywhere, its a UK BT Broadband Rom ???
I've tried 3 different Roms, even tried to bypass the Auto.bat files for the roms and do the flashing manually with no luck!
Edited: (Link removed, was software update. Not the Full ROM)
There's the link to download the official BT Broadband ROM Update
The BT ROM is here http://www.mediafire.com/?mgldgtxc3gq
So did it end up working when flashing with your official rom?
well first try nope, no luck
It went through the install process and not all of the cabs installed (it copies everything to the phone and then runs individual packages) so i stopped the process in fear of bricking my phone.
Im stumped on this one, what could i of done when i replaced the screen that would stop the flashing process from working???

What cabs? The ROM is a .exe the first link placed on this thread is not the ROM it's the BT software update, run the BT ROM i placed link to and see if works?
Actually the first link is the newest ROM for his Phone from the BT Broadband website. I searched it quite extensively to find it. Newer then the one you posted.

help with rom

hi, I've been trying to install EnergyROM Series 1.0 21222 but it fails at either 0% or 1%. Tried different spl's and currenly I'm using the 1.93 Olinex.
Do you use signed or unsigned?
As far as i know is that ROM you'r tryin to flash not signed!
thanks for the answer, as far as I know 1.93 version only comes unsigned.
hmm i dunno if it only comes unsigned, try the 1.93 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2312363&postcount=2
I flashed this a couple of month ago and it works great with every ROM i tried so far.
yup, installed that one... interestingly enough I still ain't able to install it from the pc but it installed just fine when I copied the file to ppc and installed it from there...
Okay that would be my next question.
I never install via USB.. too many problems with it.

Why Wont...

Any ROM I make boot anymore lol
I'm using evirus' visual kitchen 1.8.2 with a Diam(100).
No matter what SYS/XIP I use (I've tried 21054, 23017, 21844 & 23409 (even a XIP with the Diamond NK.exe plus others but I've deleted them)) after flashing the ROM it just sticks on the boot screen (the orange numbers with ROM/Radio version doesn't even come up).
I don't think I'm doing anything different (They used to work lol).
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
Even seems to do it with the preset .erv saves.
Other (good ) ROMs all work?
have you tried running mtty b4 you try flashing there is is a thread called THE DEFFINATIVE MTTY THREAD try that I'm pretty sure it will cure your problem
have you tried downloading a working ROM from one of the chef's?
Try installing stock rom and see if that will work.
running MTTY far easier and quicker than installing stock rom takes less then a minute once youv'e done it a couple of times i do it b4 every flash now saves wishing you'd done it when all the silly little problems start .

I tried that, well, installed the drivers etc. got to restarting my phone into the bootloader (then it installs drivers) and it never worked... Don't know how/if I can start again without doing more damage
what happened when you tried running mtty did it do anything, what mtty does is format your nand chip and erase any bad blocks it finds so its like your starting with a blank canvas. not sure if this yur problem but once mtty running press enter first then type ( task 28 55aa ) a few lines of text appear then all should be ok,shut mtty down and flash your new rom with the ruu program hope this helps

CustomRUU not running under Windows 7 -- workaround

Hi all... I was flashing an NRG ROM and new radio to an ATT Tilt 2 I had just received and couldn't get the CustomRUU to run on my PC at all. When I double-clicked the file, nothing would happen -- even if I tried to run it in Adminstrator mode.
The PC is running Windows 7 and AVG Free, and the Tilt 2 was connected through Windows Mobile Device Centre.
In the NRG thread, they mentioned that the thought was that this was due to AVG seeing the CustomRUU as having a trojan and not letting it run. I'm not so sure, since I've been able to run CustomRUU's from other threads (Kaiser, Raphael and Topaz) with no problem on this same machine. I even tried turning off AVG and no luck.
What worked for me was to copy a CustomRUU from NRG's ROMs from the Raphael thread into the folder with the Rhodium ROM, then run that version. Everything worked fine. (I did notice that the Raphael CustomRUU is a different size from the one NRG included in his Rhodium ROM).
My suspicion is that something within the Rhodium CustomRUU is not playing nicely with Windows 7 -- not anything to do with the anti-virus.
Anyway, just in case anyone else is having problems...
have you tried other custom ruu besides NRG's? i flash with windows 7 all the time with this one and have never had a problem, give it a try and see if it works for you.

Yes, I tried it with the CustomRUU that came with NRG's and with a radio from the Radio thread -- same problem.
Funny, it seems to work fine on my laptop running Windows Vista 32 bit, but won't run on my PC running Win7 64 bit.
Anyway... just in case someone else has a problem...

did you try it with the one i posted? reason i am asking is that i flashed nrg's dual boot rom and had the same problem with the custom ruu that came with the rom. i changed it with this one and it worked.

Not yet.. but I will when I get home to the 'renegade' PC ... The reason I don't think it's NRG's is because I had the same problem with the CustomRUU attached to the 4.49.25.17 radio in the Radio thread.
But I'll give yours a try. Thanks.
I've been running Windows 7 64 bit all along and have flashed about a dozen ROMs, all but one NRG's, plus 4 radio ROMs. I use Rhodium_CustomRUU_v1.1. It doesn't seem to be a Win7 thing.
I also have Windows 7 64-Bit and I had a similar problem. I tried many different things and nothing worked. Now I just flash from the SD card and I actually think it's more convenient because you dont have to take out the SIM and you can do it without using a computer. And if you ever encounter a problem while away from your computer, just make sure you always keep the nbh file on the SD card and reflash on the go.
I guess I'll add my relevant experience too:
I'm running W7 64bit on my desktop PC and W7 32bit on my laptop, and I've successfully flashed ROMs (OS and radio) from both units to my TP2 using customRUU.
Which customRUU? Well, its Description is "Rhodium CustomRUU", its version is 1.1.0.0, and it's 924KB in size. Is there more than one version?
Windows 7 and custom RUU
I also had the same issue, I have McAfee suite.
Tried disabling the entire suite with no luck.
Tried the above UK Ruu and no luck.
Tried a Raphael Ruu and it work fine.
The size of the Raphael Ruu is 759KB
The size of the Rhodium is 924KB.
Just my observation.
