XDA Orbit Copy Files - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi im a newbie at this. I recently got an o2 XDA Orbit. It comes with a 1 gb microSD. I have purchased a 2 gb microSD and wondered how i can copy all files from 1 microSD to the other and keep everything intact.
This is probably very simple i tried to copy it to my desktop then change the SD card then copy back to the other crfad but it does not seem to work properly, probably the conversion process.
Anyhelp would be a godsend.
Regards, john

i never had problems copying the content on of my sd's to the pc for backup purposes
but then maybe some applications dont support that if they do some serial nr binding to the sd card

Thanks alot rudegar, i had a problem after doing at as some programs stoppped working. I will try again and see if i can sort something out.
Regards, John

Corrupt files on SD card

Hi,
Hope someone can help me. I got my UNI few weeks ago. Everything is working great except I noticed few corrput files on the MicroSD card that I previously used on Tytn and now use on the Uni. Corrupt Files, sorry not files but Folders, appeared in one of the data folders and I couldn't get rid of them: couldn't delete on PPC or BB. Few days ago I got 4 GB Sandisk card, and then all hell broke loose: Program Files folder copied from MicroSD to SD (through BB)was unreadable, neither Resko or FileExplorer on windows could see copied files. Data folder after been copied from BB to the card got bunch of directories with weird names and most of the files copied can't be read. I tried both FAT and FAT 32 with 1k cluster. Pic attached. Please help.
Almost forgot I am on L26 WM6 PRO Business V7 Videocall, Loader .06, radio 1.15
OOOPS, sorry, wrong thread.

Upgrade to 8gb card

Guess the answer is somewhere, perhaps someone can point me in the right direction, how do you upgrade an Orbit to take an 8gb memory card? Thanks.
Get the SDHC patch, install it, soft reset and then insert the card. If you use the search function or look through the first two or three pages of the Artemis sub-forums you'll notice that you are not the first that asked this question
Flashed mine with Meschle Touch flash and bought an 8 GB Sandisk microSD, working perfectly.
I bought a Sandisk 8gb MICROSDHC card for my phone but the phone refuses to work with it. I've tried flasing my Orbit today which is on WM5 btw with the SDHC_WM6WM5.zip from this web-site but I'm having no luck. I can run the two cab files which look like there doing something, I then reboot the phone but still the phone does not see the memory card. The Windows folder within the SDHC_WM6WM5.zip has two files in there one called sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll. According the the txt file within the zip file I am supposed to extract both the files to my windows directory on the main memory of the phone but unfortunately I cannot because on one of the files the SDBUS.DLL it complains of it being used by the system. I've tried reboots on the phone, factory defaulted it back, safe mode (kicking it), but still no joy.
PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP!!
Use this file: http://members.cable24.at/immogroup/HTC-P3300/SDHC-Artemis.cab and then soft reset.
If you ever upgrade your firmware be sure to take out the SDHC card - otherwise it won't even go to bootloader correctly.
Thanks for the link Registerme it's all sorted now.

i am not very clever with technical stuff and i would really like to know how you could upgrade to an 8gb card.... please could someone help me??

Thanks very much for this I can now put my tunes on the phone without removing my maps and charts

Upgrading to a bigger MicroSD card

Sorry if this has been asked/discussed before but I couldn't find it or maybe I didn't know how to phrase the question.
With the exception of Garmin Mobile XT, when upgrading to a bigger MicroSDHC card, can you just copy and paste everything on the old memory card to the new memory card and just plug and play? As in, insert both cards to a PC and just select all (folders created for mail attachments, program files, videos, music, folders, etc) from say a 4gb card and just drag them to the new 16gb card. Will everything work ok in so far as programs that were previously installed on the old memory card, or folders created from apps in internal storage?
Thanks in advance to any help or if anyone can point me in the right direction.
Yeah, that should work just fine. Unless you have a program like Nav N Go iGO 8, which will only work on the SD card it came shipped on, you should be just fine. Though you should make sure that you have File Explorer set to show hidden files, and not to hide protected operating system files. That ensures that hidden files are also copied, some of which might be important to the programs on your SD.
garmin lets you copy over to a new card too.
thanks for information. much obliged
Yeah worked for me...I just upgraded from a 4GB to 8GB and copied everything over. No problems...
just as a small note about this thing. I made a copy of my card onto my computer when I changed cards from 4-8gig. Man I am glad I did as my 8 gig card stopped working in my Kaiser and was basically useless.
I got a new card and copied all the saved stuff over to new card and voila it all works again. This little step saved my a$$ as I had backups, tons of apps and cabs ect on the card. I am sure I could have got them all again, but I did not have to and I am so glad.
We all, or should, back up our phones but I will venture to say not many back up the cards. Now once a month I copy card to pc so its current, just in case. Old computing axiom: Its not if it will fail but rather when it will fail.

Memory Card Swap

Good Afternoon All,
I am new here, and have had a very thorough google for this problem but can only find articles on the Nexus S.
Basically, I have bought a new 32GB SDHC card for my arc, and want to transfer all of my files from my 8GB card onto it. I put both cards into my laptop and did a simple file transfer, but when i insert the new card into my phone the apps and media aren't accessible. Has anyone got any suggestions as to why this might be happening, and ways I might be able to stop it from happening?
Thank you very much in advance.
Martin
Ok, i've tried it again, and not only are my apps not there, my media files and photos appear to not be there either.
I have tried several different ways of copying the files, but nothing seems to work.
I am using the stock firmware for the phone, completely unmodded.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Format memory card.
Sent from my LT15a using xda premium
Try this:
- rar everything on old card to your computer
- extract rar into new card

[Q] tab pro can save to some sd cards only

Hi guys.
let me say first that I am aware of whole writing/permission issue with KitKat.
And I am happy to use the build in file manager to copy stuff around.
But as I had some issues with my sd card(files were copied then dissapear etc) I bought Samsung! Sd card Class10 32GB and to this card i am not able to write at all!
I can format, create a folder but that's about it. Not able to copy anything using the 'internal' file manager.
Everything works fine if I can connect the card via OTG.
Any ideas? As i am stacked now with 2 SD cards I cannot use.
And btw with all this write restriction explanations. Why I cannot write to internal card slot only?! If it is OTG I can do anything with any application. Somehow all the explanations I have read do not add up in this part.
Any enlightment highly appreciated.
Cheers

Sounds to me like you bought a counterfeit /fake MicroSDCard , if you purchased it off ebay then chances are it's a fake. the packaging looks identical to real Samsung products and it is very hard to tell the difference.
Do you have a card reader for your pc, you can do a test on it to tell if its fake, there are several programs that can do this but the most popular is H2testw .
Take a look at these threads for more info

http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/accessories/fake-samsung-evo-64gb-micro-sd-cards-t2852818
The issue you are describing where files just disappear is a telltale sign of these fake or counterfeit cards, usually the cards only have about 2GB of writable space and the rest is bad memory.
Btw on a side note: I have no problems on my tab pro 8.4 , I have every single GB of my Sandisk 64gb sdcard filled. and have no problems with it..
