Can I change WM6 file handling to 2003 model? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi
I just installed pdaviet wm6 to my hx2410, battery drawing is not a problem for me, but as I found, wm6 use ipaq file store instead or RAM, for protection of files lost when battery is out. But this make whole system many times slower, can I switch wm6 to handle with files as old 2003SE and store files in RAM and totally disable ipaq files store?
thanks

no well a bit
with wm5 ms changed where storage was places from ram to flash
there is no way around that
but there are ramdisk tools which let the user use some of the ram for storage of files and programs

pity.... I was satisfied with 2003SE, the only problem was missing support for Wifi AES crypting. I will try install back 2003SE and put wifi dlls to windows folder...

Anyone can tell me what files exactly are "Utility" (2.27) and "Library" (2.34)?
You see it in wifi -> Manager
I like to copy these files from WM6 to Win 2003SE
thanks

problem is that windows mobile's driver model changed with wm5
so wm5/6 cant use wm2003 drivers and virsa versa

REQUEST: Registry entries MS Bluetooth stack (ppc2003SE)

I'm looking for the registry entries for the microsoft bluetooth stack on a ppc2003se device and maybe the bt dlls in the windows directory. I downloaded a imate jam rom, but I can't figure out how to extract the information I need from it If someone could provide me with a copy of their registry entries (i think all the important ones are stored at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\), I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time!
Jason
P.S. In case you are wondering, I'm trying to restore full bluetooth functionality to my crippled samsung i730 verizon phone (mostly I want the DUN profile). It uses the ms stack and the main (only?) problem appears to be that some of the registry entries have been removed. If I can compare my registry entries to working entries, I'm hoping I can find the solution!
you can extract all files from ROM with dumprom tool, then convert default.fdf to defailt.reg with fdf2reg.pl script.
The BT DLLs from jam's rom would be useless for you - they are XIP.
Thanks for the info on the dlls, i didnt know what arcitecture the jam used. As for the dumprom tool, I tried it multiples times in different configurations to no success (nk.nbf, nk.nba, different passwords). The rom I grabbed was 1.12 from the "How to upgrade with the latest I-mate Jam ROM --GUIDE--" thread. any suggestions for one that will work?

UK MDA Pro + O2 Rom + MDA/O2 Ext Rom Clean Install (Guide)

Hi
I've spent the past few days geeking with my MDA, using the wealth of info from this forum.
I tried the JasJar rom (too much [email protected]), and ended up with:
- XDA CE Rom (1.13.48 )
- Radio From O2 Rom (1.04.02)
- Minimal Stuff from XDA/MDA ext roms
Goal was to install with the least [email protected] possible.
Step 1 - Flashing The XDA Exec Roms
First flash with O2 XDA Rom, using the info available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32725
To sumarise the above...
- Get XDA rom from:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/Shipped ROM/Xda_Exec_LaunchROM_v113139.exe
- Unpack the above using winrar.
- Plonk MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe in the folder where you unpacked the O2 rom (you can get this file from the ftp site, in the file: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10402.rar
You only need the one file!
- Disable activesync
- Put MDA in bootloader mode
- Connect to PC via USB, wait for hardware detection
- Run the file MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from the O2 Rom directory on the PC
- Wait ;-)
- Once it restarts, do the usual CE setup, but do not let the extended rom install (simply soft reset at the prompt). If you have gotten past this stage, just hard reset again, and do the soft reset at the correct point!
Step 2 - Installing Progs From Extended Rom
- You'll now have an MDA with the XDA CE and Radio roms installed. It will need the appropriate patches installing from the XDA and MDA extended roms.
- To start, DL both extended roms:
XDA:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/Extended ROMs/O2_XDA_Exec_Extended_ROM.zip
MDA:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/Extended ROMs/mda_pro_eng_uk_extrom.zip
- For info on what each of these roms contain, look at the following threads:
MDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32839
XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32527
- You dont need all that ****e, I installed the following:
XDA:
Signed_SSD_BTUR_Patch_For_BT_Cannot_Initial.sa.CAB (bluetooth patch)
MDA:
CAB-Customization-TMUK-Universal-01-03-04Aug05.CAB (Adds MMS Server Settings)
CAB-Shorcut-TMOENU-08Aug05.CAB (Adds MMS to outlook + installs some shortcuts which you can remove later)
Enable_VT_RTPlugin_0727_2_signed.CAB (Enables Video Calling)
Signed_UNI_TMO_Connection_112100.CAB (Adds 'T-Mobile Internet' and 'T-Mobile Internet CS' for GPRS/3G connection)
Stage 3 - Cleanup
- The CAB CAB-Shorcut-TMOENU-08Aug05.CAB also installs a links. If you dont install the cab TMO_UK_UI_0727_signed.CAB then these will be dead llinks. The 'clearvue pdf' reader is a part of this cab (but if you install it, you'll get all the other sh1te it contains also. I was not interested in the PDF reader, so I just trashed the dead links.
- There are two dead links in Programs (they'll be obvous by their icons. I seem to remember them being 'clearvue PDF' and 'EmailWiz' In Explorer, browse to /windows/start menu/programs and trash them.
- Several shortcuts are installed in /windows/startup. Trash the elatepushservice (I dont know what this does, but I dont appear to be missing anything!), sddeamon (this causes the prompt 'view pics on card' when you insert a card containing jpgs from digicam etc). DONT trash 'poutlook' as otherwise the MMS folders wont appear in pocket outlook.
- Install Pocket Mechanic, and use it to ditch bad registy keys and cleanup the notification que.
- Could also install the ext rom unlocker & Total Commander so that you can shove only the cabs you want into the ext rom (or use the space for somet more useful) See Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33638 (Cheers Buzz!)
Registry Hacks
Goto: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry and pick some registry hacks to install. I did 'keys on today screen', 'disable start menu animation', 'change pocket ie', 'change fonts', 'change glyph cache' and 'change web hardware button' - to 'about:blank'
Goto:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33515 and make the suggested changes to the cache settings. I found that this did speed stuff up, but since its only cache settings, it will only speed up stuff the second time you try and do it!
Soft Reset
Install Your Progs
I installed
In Internal Mem
Resco Explorer (+regedit +ftp) to replace the MS sh1te
Resco Pic Viewer (to replace the MS App)
Pocket Informant (case the built in stuff is useless)
Resco Audio Recorder
Resco Pocket Radio
TCMP Media player
Net Remote (to control my HTPC)
SPB GPRS Monitor (from MDA CDROM)
Zimmermann Pocket Hosts (essential for VPN use)
Small menu (so I can ruddy well close open apps!)
IPConfig
Pocket Putty (SSH)
On CF Card
Total Commander (to get to the ext rom)
WiFiFoFum (for free email on the move ;-)
Pocket Mechanic
Concluding
Machine is now both fast, stable and not full of bloat-ware. Have 22MB free storage, and 27MB free program memory.
Main Issue left is the time that machine takes to respond to an incomming call when its switched off. On the original MDA rom, I had 4 rings before machine actually rang. Now I have about 2.5.
Time for sleep! I'll read through this tomorrow and correct any errors...
Nigel
One essential point.
According to the publisher, Pocket Mechanic should not be installed to the SD-card, especially if you intend using any of Pocket Mechanic's functions against the SD-card - could lead to corruption.
Personally, I've installed (and run) many of the applications you've listed as "Internal mem" direct to the SD-card without experiencing any problems.
Great bit of collating, does anyone know if the same can be performed on a M5000? Orange have a habit of needing things on there phone to work correctly. Also does anyone know what the following do on the M5000 ExtRom:
CAB-Customization-OrangeUK-Universal-01-05-15Aug05.CAB
CAB-Shortcut-Orange-19Aug05.CAB
cusTSK.exe
Enable_VT_RTPlugin_0727_2_signed.CAB
Signed_DiscoButton8.sa.CAB
Signed_Orange_SuspendResume.sa.CAB
Signed_Orange_UAString.sa.CAB
Signed_ORUK_Conn.sa.CAB

Signed_SSD_Shortcut_WWE.sa.CAB

Signed_UNI_pIE_View_Set.sa.CAB
UI_Orange_UK_0727.cab
UNI_BrowserPerformance.sa.CAB
UNI_Orange_2G3G_icon.sa.CAB
Would be a great help if someone did or could find out as I could then cherry pick what to install. I can take a guess at a few of them but I would like to be sure
Thanks
Hi
Aye, I have noticed oddities with pocket mechanic on SD card, but only when doing SD card benchmark, defrag etc.
I installed to internal mem cause its faster than SD card rather than any other reason, but I found issues with some resco apps running on the SD card also - specifically resco upgrade failed (could not install downloaded upgrade)

I can understand Pocket Mechanic objecting when you defrag/benchmark the medium it itself is running from.
Haven't had any problems with Resco, but haven't tried the update facility.

is it feasible?can thr be any incompatibility?
where can I find JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10402.rar ?
Hi,
I am gathering the files to perform the upgrade as detailed in this thread, however I can't seem to find JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10402.rar.
Is there a better one to use now ? or should I keep searching for JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10402.rar ?
In fact most of the links have moved ...
Thanks

Can you dump your extended rom and post on the ftp site?
I've tried installing the french version, but the UI won't install. Most odd...
I can't find the ROMS
I keep getting :
File not found
You tried to access the address ftp://[email protected]/Universal/Extended ROMs/, which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that the Web address (URL) is correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page.
Can any one point me in the right direction ?
I have a T Mobile (UK) MDA PRO, the wifi connection lasts for about 3 seconds, then it keeps trying, but failing.
These are the ROMs I'm after :
XDA:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/Extended ROMs/O2_XDA_Exec_Extended_ROM.zip
MDA:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/Extended ROMs/mda_pro_eng_uk_extrom.zip
Thanks
Hi
Looks like someone has trashed the FTP site (again) all those roms have dissapeared. Hopefully they'll get restored... Did a backup exist??!
I'll search my laptop see if I have any of the missing roms
Nigel
Yup the FTP's missing practically every file...
I need the NO ID upgrade launcher file to flash my MDA Pro to XDA Exec please.
If anyone can upload it or send it me accross msn it'd be much appreciated

POCKET QUICKEN for WM6

Title says it all...Landware made its .cab wm5 compatible only, I hacked it to install to any wm build. Hope some of you will find use for it, as you may know this is NOT pirated, you still need the same activation code as with WM5.
There's no WM6 APPS forum, so I figured this was the best place to post it.
I appreciate this, thanks. I'm a registered user of both the Palm and WM versions. My support inquiries fell on deaf ears.
The current version of Pocket Quicken (v2.5 Build 338a) installs and works well with WM6 without any tweaks. I have it on Cingular 8525 running CUSTEL WM VI Pro v2.5.

[Cavalier WM6 port to Breeze] Help required on rebuild of ROM

The Cavalier WM6 rom has just been made available. The Cavalier itself seems to use the same hardware platform as the Breeze and Hermes and so seemed a good start. The main differences between the Cavalier and Breeze Smartphones seem to be different keyboards and the Cavalier has WiFi/GPS extra. My goal was to port the ROM, remove Wifi and change keyboard drivers.
So far I've not got very far
I've dumped the Cavalier ROM and put a Breeze header on it and flashed it to a Breeze. Not unsurprisingly it didn't boot, just kept recycling on the splash screen. I've looked through the Reg to check the INIT process and the Built-in drivers but nothing jumps out as a problem. It has been hinted to me by Pof that I need to look at the XIP DLLs to see if they are incorrectly mapped in memory as a start point. To this end I've attached the two memory maps onto this post.
Anyone that can help with advice, guidance or even better action would be appreciated.
Talking to myself!
Okay. I realise now that the attached memory maps were not the point. I've dumped the old (WM5 AKU 3.3.1) breeze XIP and the new (WM6) Cavalier XIP and I'm playing with bepe's XIPPORT application.
I'm assuming what I need is to replace all the modules in the Breeze XIP with the 'new' Cavalier ones and then merge back into the payload file. My question is ... how? There seems to be an address required for the build-back and I've no idea what to use. Rommaster reported an offset of 0x000000 for the XIP but I assume this is after clipping it out of the original payload.

HP iPAQ 210 Flashing

Hey, sorry to start another thread, but I noticed that on HP's web site there was a ROM Update for the iPAQ 110 series, and I remembered that the reason why the iPAQ 210 couldn't be flashed was because we didn't have certain files needed to flash to it. And, I was wondering if it was possible to get any of those files from it, or maybe even replace the IMGFS partition to make it compatible with the iPAQ 210(and change the OS version too), and use hpruu.exe to flash it to the iPAQ 210, if that's possible that is.
Edit:I have Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 IMGFS(in BIN format), so I don't need anyone to do that.
Well I suppose if that's not possible, is there any way I could use a program like pdocwrite to write the files to the IMGFS partition, and if so, how?
Well, I guess I'll just try to get an HTC Touch HD and flash a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM to it instead of trying to develop one for the iPAQ 210. Oh, well, at least I tried. Here are the 6.1 and 6.5 IMGFS partition files for it in case anyone wants them.
Note:The File Hoster will only allow 10 downloads, so only download if your actually going to do something with it.
