Check for CID Unlock on Used Phone - HTC Excalibur

Hi,
I purchased a used Dash off of ebay and it's just arrived! It's unlocked (confirmed... my at&t sim works fine) and running wm6.
I'd like to flash and unbranded rom onto it (lots of tmobile crap on there right now) but am not sure how to check if it's CID unlocked. From what I've read here, I need to make sure of this first so that I don't brick my new phone.
I can't seem to find a post that details how to check if your phone is indeed CID unlocked or not.
Can someone fill me in?
Thanks!

Nevermind... I'm CID unlocked. I was able to update to the latest HTC ROM (the one posted here) without getting the Vendor ID error, so I'm guessing that means I'm unlocked.
It might be handy to know for someone else though... so if there's a way to check on the phone for CID Unlock, feel free to share.
Thanks! Having fun reading all the great info here and learning how to hack my Dash!

CID locked or not ?

OK, perhaps a noob question, but looking for two days to find a solution to my question now:
How do I determaine if my device is CID locked or not.
Searching throug this forum / Internet has not brought me any closer to determining if my HTC p3300 device is CID locked or not.
Please help
hi
i also want to know how to determine if your device is CID locked/unlocked.
sorry,what is cid lock????
Hi Guys,
Visit following link http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_BootLoader
Use "info 2" command. This will give you the CID of your device.
Some months later .....
My Artemis is suposed to be cid locked (My mobile provider is on the box, on the terminal, on the startup screen, ...), however I hve phoned to HTC support and they say that my serial number is of a "free" terminal.
So, I don't know if my terminal is CID locked or not. From your suggestion, if a CID number is given, does it mean that the terminal is locked? Which is the answer for CID unlocked?
As I would like to upgrade to WM6 without losing the warranty, I'm not sure if I should get the HTC oficial upgrade or my provider oficial upgrade. Who is giving the warranty to me: my provider or HTC?
Thank you very much indeed

I don't know the answer to your question, but why not just unlock it anyway ?
If it is locked it will be unlocked, if its unlocked it will be unlocked. End result = CID unlocked.
Seems simple to me.
have a read of my old thread, may help you.

CID Unlock?

I called up t-mobile so I can unlock this dash and use it on cingular and it works fine now. My question is, is it also CID unlocked? I understand that it has to be app unlocked and cid unlocked for me to install the stock HTC rom on it.
Doesnt need to be app unlocked. Needs to be CID unlocked to flash a different ROM, also called super-cid. What yours is now is only sim unlocked, meaning it can work with another operator's sim card.
How would I CID unlock it or even find out if its cid locked?

The T-Mobile Dash comes CID locked out of the box (as do all carrier branded devices, and almost all unlocked devices). To install the stock HTC ROM, you'll need to CID unlock at a place like http://imei-check.co.uk/ for approximately $38.
FYI- with the recent release of WM 6 by T-Mobile, you probably want the WM 6 ROM over the HTC stock one, but hey- it takes all kinds, right?
Well im just asking because what if htc comes out with their wm6? I don't like the t-mobile branded everything haha. But yes I am enjoying the phone very much with wm6.

Thought I'd mention imei-check don't offer a CID unlock but a work around method to let you flash a different ROM. It involves hex editing both the nbf and the romupdateutility.exe among other things. Once the ROM is flashed when you put your sim in the device is locked (data crashed message about contacting your service provider) by their modified boot loader until you run imei-check's sim unlock utility again, which is why you need to pay the $38 for doing this.

Will updating Rom Unlock phone?

Just curious, I have justs updated my Rom, and radio. I have a HTC branded rom, its a rom made by a member here. Just wondering if my phone would happen to be unlocked after this. I have a 8525 cingular, and I want to use it for Tmobile, so if it hasnt unlocked what program can i use to unlock it. Thanks
No it's still locked but you are SuperCID.
To unlock it you need to go here

how do i know if my phone is unlocked? other than actually putting in another sim card
Testing different sims is the only way to see if your unlocked. And I'm not sure that your even superCID...What did your do to be it?
never mind, i tested a t mobile sim, its not unlocked. Whats superCID, and does that have anythin to do with unlocking the SIM.
usaully there done together but don't have to be. here's a thread and many post about both:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
I'm not sure why someone thinks you are SuperCID. It really doesn't matter much anymore if you CID unlock the phone (make it SuperCID) or not. If you have no reason to make it SuperCID, I guess I wouldn't. I have read (although never experienced) that some warranties have been voided that way. You can optionally select to unlock the CID when you run the unlocker.
(If the person who thought you were SuperCID based that on the fact that you flashed a new carrier's ROM, you can do that without CID unlocking. The CustomRUU updater bypasses the CID check now.)

[Q] Stock Recovery Question

Hey guys,
First post and thread, unfortunately. May have been done before, so sorry if that's the case (and if it is I guess a quick link can clear this confusion up!)
I've got a tmobile HTC One M8 running Android 4.4.4 with an unlocked boot loader, clockworkmod 6.0.4.8 with s-on.
New android update is out and while I'm not necessarily keen on updating it, the icon is annoying. As well, I originally rooted the phone for some apps and sorts that I don't even use and I'm mainly interested in just bringing the phone back to a stock recovery so I can unroot it.
Tried using the RUU posted but I believe due to the s-on and unlocked boot loader, it doesn't work for me. Step one is an error on it.
What can I do here to bring the phone back to stock recovery? I'm not 100% I made a backup before I put cwm on it. May have but for arguments sake let's say I didn't.
Any and all help is appreciated. thanks so much everyone.

RUUs run fine with s-on, and I don't know why folks keep posting that it doesn't.
But you do however, need to relock the bootloader (since you are s-on) to run the RUU. Its absolutely mandatory (with s-on), and almost certainly why the RUU fails. THe RUU also needs to match your CID (but if you are properly trying a T-Mob RUU on a T-Mob version M8, that is not the issue), and further you cannot "downgrade" or run an older version RUU (older hboot) than what is on the phone.
But again, unlocked bootloader alone will make the RUU fail.
I haven't really seen a whole lot of s-off since firewater hasn't worked any longer. I kind of figured the unlocked bootloader was an issue as well. Mobile right now and working so not a whole lot I can do. Basically make sure the CID matches the RUU and relock the bootloader and I should be good to go? I picked up the T-Mobile RUU and I have a tmobIle M8, I didn't really think to check the CID, I just mainly assumed the failed run was from other sources.

As long as you have the right carrier RUU, the CID will also match. I assume T-Mobile US? As there is also T-Mobile in Europe.
As long as its right carrier (CID) and not trying to run an older version RUU, the unlocked bootloader is the only problem.
Yes T-Mobile US.
I'll have to double check the RUU, I'm pretty sure I grabbed it off here from a different thread, but like you said, the unlocked bootloader obviously was an issue.
In the case, and I'm assuming it's rare, that it could be that, is there an easy way to tell whether or not I have the most current RUU?
Thanks a bunch, really appreciating the help. I've been kind of at a standstill with this and haven't really tried much in fear of killing the phone.

Do you mean its rare to run the wrong version RUU? If so, I'd say no, its not rare at all. Folks are often not aware of the version requirement (with s-on, this requirement is bypassed with s-off) and try to run an "old" RUU.
All the T-Mob US RUUs are posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714456
3.32 is Android 4.4.4
4.20 is Android 5.0
3.32 is what I have at the moment. With android 5 coming over the air a week or so ago for myself and 4.4.4 being on the phone when I got it just a couple months back, that's what I guess I was insinuating by rare. But thank you a bunch for your help. Again it's very much appreciated. Obviously got myself in a little over my head here.

HTC himaulatt?

I recently bought an HTC One (M9) 32Gb Factory Unlocked on eBay but when i put the phone in downlode mode i saw in description: htc himaulatt, i suppose is att carrier and it has bootloader locked, s-off and cid:11111111. Also the firmware is 3.35.617.12. This is the Developer Edition? Can i flash another Sense rom like ViperOne?
Any help please?
With supercid....you likely have an att variant phone that has been flashed with the latest OS....or I suppose it could have taken the latest OTA if the recovery and FW is stock...
Either way....you can flash viper....or any MM rom that supports the ATT network....
You are in pretty good shape for Modding....just remember to backup your device before doing anything to crazy...g

Hey, did you get any luck installing other roms? I have the same phone and it is "S-ON", I'd would give the rom that you have tried a try as well... let me know!
Hey guys,
I've got a m9 with the exact same condition, bootloader locked, s-off and cid:11111111, and firmware is 3.35.617.12. However, when i bought this off a seller online, he told me its brand new. (lied, by the looks of it)
I', not familiar with this whole flashing, ROM, SCID, s-off etc thing. But right now i've got a android security update, which werent allowed to proceed because it says i am not running official HTC software. Also my phone says its a test unit and is HTC's property (which i've read somewhere that says its due to the s-off thingy)
I only want my phone back to stock, and could update OTA.
Where do i start? i dont expect answers, but perhaps some guide as to which articles/threads to read? Its all quite confusing to me at the moment.
Cheers, CLee
Well, S-OFF basically means you can do what you want with your phone.
You can unlock your bootloader by typing "fastboot oem unlock" in your cmd.
Since your rom is x.x.617.x, you run the developer edition, that one is always himaulatt.
No lock, just dev edition.
I just got a HTC M9 and it also says himaulatt, but mine says S-ON, i can't find any information about this particular model.
