Will updating Rom Unlock phone? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Just curious, I have justs updated my Rom, and radio. I have a HTC branded rom, its a rom made by a member here. Just wondering if my phone would happen to be unlocked after this. I have a 8525 cingular, and I want to use it for Tmobile, so if it hasnt unlocked what program can i use to unlock it. Thanks

No it's still locked but you are SuperCID.
To unlock it you need to go here

how do i know if my phone is unlocked? other than actually putting in another sim card

Testing different sims is the only way to see if your unlocked. And I'm not sure that your even superCID...What did your do to be it?

never mind, i tested a t mobile sim, its not unlocked. Whats superCID, and does that have anythin to do with unlocking the SIM.

usaully there done together but don't have to be. here's a thread and many post about both:

I'm not sure why someone thinks you are SuperCID. It really doesn't matter much anymore if you CID unlock the phone (make it SuperCID) or not. If you have no reason to make it SuperCID, I guess I wouldn't. I have read (although never experienced) that some warranties have been voided that way. You can optionally select to unlock the CID when you run the unlocker.
(If the person who thought you were SuperCID based that on the fact that you flashed a new carrier's ROM, you can do that without CID unlocking. The CustomRUU updater bypasses the CID check now.)

CID Unlock?

I called up t-mobile so I can unlock this dash and use it on cingular and it works fine now. My question is, is it also CID unlocked? I understand that it has to be app unlocked and cid unlocked for me to install the stock HTC rom on it.
Doesnt need to be app unlocked. Needs to be CID unlocked to flash a different ROM, also called super-cid. What yours is now is only sim unlocked, meaning it can work with another operator's sim card.
How would I CID unlock it or even find out if its cid locked?

The T-Mobile Dash comes CID locked out of the box (as do all carrier branded devices, and almost all unlocked devices). To install the stock HTC ROM, you'll need to CID unlock at a place like http://imei-check.co.uk/ for approximately $38.
FYI- with the recent release of WM 6 by T-Mobile, you probably want the WM 6 ROM over the HTC stock one, but hey- it takes all kinds, right?
Well im just asking because what if htc comes out with their wm6? I don't like the t-mobile branded everything haha. But yes I am enjoying the phone very much with wm6.

Thought I'd mention imei-check don't offer a CID unlock but a work around method to let you flash a different ROM. It involves hex editing both the nbf and the romupdateutility.exe among other things. Once the ROM is flashed when you put your sim in the device is locked (data crashed message about contacting your service provider) by their modified boot loader until you run imei-check's sim unlock utility again, which is why you need to pay the $38 for doing this.

Check for CID Unlock on Used Phone

Hi,
I purchased a used Dash off of ebay and it's just arrived! It's unlocked (confirmed... my at&t sim works fine) and running wm6.
I'd like to flash and unbranded rom onto it (lots of tmobile crap on there right now) but am not sure how to check if it's CID unlocked. From what I've read here, I need to make sure of this first so that I don't brick my new phone.
I can't seem to find a post that details how to check if your phone is indeed CID unlocked or not.
Can someone fill me in?
Thanks!
Nevermind... I'm CID unlocked. I was able to update to the latest HTC ROM (the one posted here) without getting the Vendor ID error, so I'm guessing that means I'm unlocked.
It might be handy to know for someone else though... so if there's a way to check on the phone for CID Unlock, feel free to share.
Thanks! Having fun reading all the great info here and learning how to hack my Dash!

Tmobile

Hi, can I assume that the Tmobile UK BL can't be unlocked until Tmobile release an update, which means that it will be a hell of a long time with there track record.
i'm on t-mobile uk and i can confirm that you can definitely unlock the bootloader.
i had already upgraded with the RUU gingerbread rom if that makes any difference?
but anyways, with the htc-dev unlock method, i think i chose their RUU that was called TMOUK or something similar (i assumed that it's some kind of abbreviation for t-mobile?). anyways, that worked for me, but failing that, i assume the HTC EUROPE RUU option would also work?
Thanks but have tried the tmouk and the latest Euro ruu, nothing seems to work.
which bit are you stuck on exactly?
have you tried making gold card?
how do u I unlock bootloader for T-Mobile USA GSM?
this is for USA T-Mobile

The ROM doesn't allow you to use any SIM, you need to buy a code to SIM unlock the phone

If you are S-off, you should be able to change CID to obtain Super CID, which basically SIM unlocks it. I've successfully done it here in USA without a problem; T-mobile phone working on AT&T network without requesting SIM unlock, just Super CID. Sorry I'm still a junior member here, so can't post links, but Google it, you should find info on how to Super CID.

No. Incorrect. S-Off does not unlock SIM.

I believe you misread my post. I said, IF you are S-off you can change CID to a Super CID (all 1's), which will allow you to use phone on all carriers, basically same as SIM unlock.

Once again. no. You are incorrect. Gaining S-Off does not allow you to use your phone with any carrier. You need to SIM unlock for that, and S-Off does not do that.

I'm sorry, sir, but you do seem to have trouble understanding my statements.
Just to set the record straight for everyone, please see this link, as it explains 3 ways to unlock SIM and explains Super CID a bit. Note, however, there is a warning out on XDA that the 3rd method listed on this site is not recommended as it caused issues on some devices.

We've not misunderstood your post at all. That guide is a temporary SIM-unlock method, if you ever set the phone back to S-ON it's SIM-locked again. The only permanent SIM-unlock is via a code

Can a Sprint locked phone be unlocked then rooted for use on the verizon network?

If so, is it simply done by sequentially unlocking the sim card and then s-off to use on the different bands?

You would S-OFF using Sunshine then SuperCID, then run the Verizon firmware, without the radio.img
(this is basically the steps, more details can be found in the already made threads)
