HTC Universal Flash ROM Memory Upgrade - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Since Mamaich has been able to make our universals capable of upgrading the ram memory to 128MB, is there any chance for upgrading the Flash ROM as well (to 256MB or more)?
Would really like to hear whether anyone is trying on this?
Cheers.

There is no way!
The MDA has no place to add 4 Memory-Devices!
The other way is to install 1GBit Memory-Chips. But this does not exist (which are compatible to the pinning and funktion of the original chips)!
So the limit is 128MByte.
The PXA270 can address up to 1GByte. But the MDA can not use it.

rather confused

i'm about to buy a new pda+phone but i have some difficulty in choosing
what device to buy : either QTEK2020i or Qtek9090 .......
the main difficulty is due to the Rom of the 9090 beeing 64Mb while that
of the 2020i beeing stated as 128Mb .
is it possible with both phones to upgrade later to windowsmobile2005 due to the difference of the rom.....?
please help i'm planning to buy the device next week.......
the only info about 2005 on those devices have been from imate who say it will never happen
rom is where the os is and the normal rom cant be used for anything
ram is what you want are you sure you dont mean ram ?
less confused
i'meant that if after all i'll buy the 9090 and if the windowsmobile update will be possible ......
{i will buy the ramcard 512Mb card with the phone {seperately}}
i think the rom carries the operating files or not and the largest the rom the
more the upgrade will be possible or not ?
i'm still using my p900 and don't know much about the qtek ..........
also i want to ask where the windows mobile files are installed on rom or on ram inside the phone ....?
finally i choose 9090
ok then i will buy the qtek9090 this week thanks for your help ....... :?
well roms have to be made specialy for a device so
roms made for the device will always fit the rom size
if devices with more rom size will include more stuff then i guess
that rom size matters
if 2005 will ever come for these device i dont know
but then guess you can live without it if you really need to

greats antonius
As far a I know sdhc memory cards are not suported on the artemis.
It just doesnt have the hardware to support it...
Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311839
The Heed
i read that there is a driver fix !
i read that if you donwload this driver SDIO Hx version 1.1 then it works.
as any one has this driver for me????

Either HTC wants to say that they support non-SDHC 4 GB cards which probably should work anyways or that they are going to support SDHC in the official release.
I've read many discussions on that SDHC and that it is only a software problem on the Artemis and that someone from this community got sdhc working on a HTC device which did not natively supports it.
e-mail to HTC
Good Morning Customer, Thank you for contacting HTC Europe.? There will be an updated ROM for your device soon but we can not give you a specific time on this.? We can only guarantee a 2GB card working on your device and can't guarantee the 6GB working, even with the ROM update.
I do not understand how is it possible that noone knows whats exactly the difference between SD and SDHC.
there are so many discussion on this topic, and no definite answer.
Trust they do...

I want to believe its like the difference between a cat and a cattle, firstly obviously in the name and also possibly in the compression and algorithms employed.
but still there should be some kind of RFC it's not secret stealth technology... but I can't find anything in the "internets" SDHC is like a myth... people know that it's out there but cannot explain how it happens...
Sdhc Working In A Touch!!
My friend at work has just bought the touch on t-mobile and managed to get a free 4GB SDHC card with it, Il take a photo to prove it so I cant see how its working in Touch and not our devices....

Different hardware and different drivers. No mystery to it!
Yep - absolutely right - no mystery to it. In fact, SDHC is a published standard.
It is different from SD in that it uses block mode addressing instead of byte mode addressing, so unless the firmware in the device controller is designed to support botht byte and block mode addressing, it won't work.
The SD card controllers in some devices have been designed to support both types of addressing and some haven't, because they were designed before the new standard was published.
The Artemis/P3300/Orbit was not designed to support block mode addressing within the firmware, so until either HTC or someone else very clever provides an update to the SD card device controller that provides block mode addressing, the SDHC cards won't be recognised in the SD card drive...

thats it, different hardware wont be same at all bro,.
Hey, for more than 4gb sdhc you need sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll from a device with wm6 aku 0.3.1+ (build 17944 or higher) and update os to 17944 or higher, no other way

have you checked that just by replacing these .dll-s it will work?
If you have os rom higher than 17944, you should only update these 2 files - tested on loox 560
Could you post the 2 dll and I'll give it a try.
http://rapidshare.com/files/59328091/sd.7z.html
here you go - copy 2 dll to \windows and install certs.cab
Thanks for that, unfortunately it didn't work.
Just double checking but the files you mentioned earlier were sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll , but the zip file contained sdmemory.dll and signer.dll. Did you mean to send these, or am I missing something?
Thanks
jupp, sending the right sdbus.dll - file would be great!

HP IPAQ H4100 series (4150), wm6 upgrade question

Hi.
Im intrested if is possible to upgrade h4100 with wm6 OS.
Now is default w2003. If is, can someone send link or something tutorial how to do it...
THX
I found answer....
The H4150 hasn't enough memory to install WM5/6 on it, at least 64MB ROM is needed, your device only has the following:
ROM capacity: 32 MB (accessible: 2.8MB)
RAM capacity: 64 MB (accessible: 55MB)
There isn't even a WM2003SE upgrade available for your device so you're stuck with WM2003.

It is NOT the truth. A WM5 demo machine is actually built with 32MB ROM.
It is just something for HP to defense.
Sadly this is one of the best machine in terms of hardware.
hopefully if someone can put linux on it.
Any updates on this?? I also have a 4100 series Ipaq...(4155) that I'd like to upgrade.
Thanks,
Rudi
sorry to all
but i bel that i had seen wm5 available for hp 4150 on this page (not free)but a long time ago
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...esId=349042&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1087
and now they have changed that page
Any news or solutions?
I have an ipaq 4155 as well and wanted to know if anyone cooked a 5.0 or 6.1 rom for it?
Nope stuck to the end
Linux on iPAQ
You can try this .angstrom-distribution.org/2007-12-images-h2200-h3900-h4000-hx4700 if you don't mind using linux on iPAQ.
Sorry the link is not working. I have got also h4100, and want to try something new on it
my fault. just add www.
It's pity that hp 4100 is dead... But the last chance is to use sd card as system memory...

[Idea] Windows Mobile partitially loaded from Storage

Hello all,
i have a idea about doing something that would give a huge amount extra space for our phone and possibly could speed the device up.
THe idea is loading parts or the whole windows system from the internal storage.
has anyone ever tried doing something that goes to this direction ?
Please share your opinion.
greetings alphazero
You mean executing from storage (so it does not have to be run from RAM/Pagepool) ? WM 5/6 can do execute in place (XIP) from NOR based ROM/Flash. I am not sure what the Diamond has for it's base 256MB "ROM", probably NAND as its cheaper and writes a lot faster.

so you think its possible ?
Depends on the base flash type of the Diamon 256MB ROM. Also remember that the read speed (even with NOR flash) is a lot slower than RAM
It's a nice thought, but I think that the performance boost will not be what you expect. A few extra MB's of RAM will not make the device more usable. So to be short: don't spend time on this. Make fast ROM's instead

Increase Built-in memory.

Hello Friends. Hope everyone is fine here. I wanted to ask that anyone knows that how can I change the internal memory, which is, by default, very less of the HTC P3300. Please tell me, please.
I hope anyone can answer this question.
Thanks & Best Regards,
Talha
Hey. No Reply. Anyone. Please!!!
Chage ROM with a Cooked ROM that use few memory amount of RAM/ROM.
RAM/ROM on device isn't exchangeable without very invasive methodes on mainboard.
Artemis is an old device, cheap but old: if you want more RAM/ROM select a newer device ^^
PDA isn't a PC (only ROM is modificable with MicroSD Card)
