'Not Enough Memory' for Route 66 map on XDA - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I'm trying to run 'Route 66' Navigate 7 for Pocket PC on my XDA IIs but keep getting the error message 'Not Enough Memory To Open This Map' (UK and Ireland).
I have no other programs running, and the Route 66 specs say it needs 16MB of free 'Runtime Memory'. It only requires a 256 MB SD Card and I'm using a 512 MB card.
I'm not clear what exactly is meant by 'Runtime Memory' but my XDA IIs has 18.51 MB of Storage Memory and 47.69 MB of Program Memory free before I run the Route 66 program. I've tried juggling the slider between the Program/Storage memories but I still get the same error message.
Just hoped someone here knows a solution.
Thanks.

id say the storage memory is too low

thanks for that, DJ_Steve.

did that solved your problem esmonde ?

Lack of available RAM after new radio rom???

Hi,
I've just put hard-spl on to my diamond and upgraded the radio to v1.00.25.05.
Everything else about this is stock. Now when I turn on my device it has about 48% ram... I can't start Tomtom anymore, and presumably other apps.
There's no running programs. I'm not sure where the ram has disappeared to.
My memory looks as the following:
Storage:
Total: 85.44 MB
In use: 28.45 MB
Free: 56.99
Program
Total: 113.07 MB
In use: 58.04 MB
Free: 55.03 MB
Can someone help out? The device is pretty useless with this amount of ram after a reset
Not sure if this makes a difference...
But I couldn't get hard-spl on using the normal directions, I had to use these instructions here:

And what`s the prob ? You have about 50% of Ram free ? I don`t see the point.
1. Before the radio and hardspl upgrade I could run Tomtom fine, now it won't start at all due to a lack of memory.
2. Before the upgrade I had over 80% when I turned the device on.

Impossible you must be mistaken. Maybe when TF3D turned off but even then I doubt. With TF3D off after soft reset I get around 60 MB free which makes free about 55% and used 45%. The problem is somewhere else dude
I'm not mistaken. 78% was the most commonly displayed amount I had. I'm 100% not mistaken on that.
The fact that Tomtom tells me that there's not enough memory to launch also helps to confirm this for me. I did a Tomtom reinstall too without any change.
when you said 80%, are there any chance that you got it from hitting top right hand conner at TF3D page? if so, that number doesn't mean you have 80% RAM available, but it means 80% RAM were in use (so you have 20% available).
And if in that case, you said you have 48% number show now.. that's mean 48% is in use and you have 52% available. compare to before where you have 78% on average, this is much better isn't it?
For the TT problem, I don't think is really cause by this. It may be ran out of memory, but not this RAM, could be virtual memory, etc. Sorry, I don't use TT so i skip this part..
Install TT7 on phone memory and it will work.
You have a TomTom pb
On my device, I have 50~51% at boot.
For you I launched several apps to have 66% (40Mb free)
And guess what ? TomTom launched with no problem.

I have the following which sort of sucks as I have next to nothing installed on the stock HTC ROM.
Storage:
Total: 85.31 MB
In use: 49.01 MB
Free: 36.30 MB
Program
Total: 113.07 MB
In use: 91.41 MB
Free: 21.66 MB
Shows 80% used with Activesync off..
TomTom runs up fine for me...
You were right, I was reading the ram incorrectly. Sorry about this.
Someone mentioned installing tomtom in the phone memory will fix this... well I did that the other day and yes it worked, but now, less than 2 days later without me changing anything it's done it again
I have read about the availability of RAM after booting up and after using the device for awhile. My device's RAM after fresh soft reset is around 53-55% and after using it for almost a day, it reports as 65-67%. In all your honest expert opinion, is that good or bad ? I have not experienced any device hang ups yet, TF3D still is fast and smooth. Only sometimes the device lags when I am typing out a SMS.

[Q] Internal phone storage - cant use available free space

Can anyone shed some light on this problem (or perhaps suggest a fix).
My HTC EVO claims aprox 40MB available space of internal phone storage.
(Menu > settings > SD & phone storage > Internal phone storage)
When my phone has about aprox 40MB I begin to receive "Low disk space" notification. Furthermore, I cannot install any other app.
The problem here is... if i have 40MB of available space then i SHOULD be able to install (afterall I have 40MB free).
Is the reported 40MB erroneous? Perhaps this 40MB is reserved? If it is reserved, for what? And if it is indeed reserved for something, why is it reported as 40MB free?
Perhaps others have run accross the same issue with a different reported space available (mine was 40MB. others may have other values).
There are threads with a seemingly similar issue (disk space being eaten up and memory leaks), but not quite the same as this one (unable to use free space availabe).
Please advise.
Edit (added more info)
Some additional information to what ive posted above....
I am running Froyo (2.2)
Kernel 2.6.32.15-ge2fb08e
Software version 3.29.651.5
This problem has occurred when I had 2.1 (before froyo OTA update).
This problem occured when I have Froyo
I rooted (sucessfully) last night, and the problem persists.
If I am at aprox 40MB, if I remove an app to free up some space (lets say 10MB), which would put me at 50MB free the I can continue installing apps again until i reach about 40MB. Then i get the "low disk space" notifications and cannot install any additonal apps again.

Why dont you just use darktremor apps2sd?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
thanks for the quick reply futuristicstyles.
The issue is not being able to free up additional space. The problem is that the phone is reporting I have space available (40MB), but when I try to use that space it wont let me.
until the experts chime in, i think it does have to do with memory allocated to the os that may include space reserved for cached files, mail attachments program usage, ect. or it could be a buffer memory when the developers designed it.

Welcome I use to wonder the same thing I think the phone does that so that it wont slow down or start force closing like winmo phone when they get full it starts freezing and, moving like dial up. Thats why i think the phone does that

But dark tremor is a great alternative i have over 200 apps installed and my phone us still on top of the quadrent no lagging what so ever only when rebooting has to load apps from sd card

Thank you all for posting.
Just checking if there is any additional advice or suggestions?
Also, has anyone else noticed behavior?
I agree with everyone else in that it's probably reserved for cache. Normally the phone uses /data for dalvik cache. Custom kernels and ROMs sometimes have a script that moves the dalvik cache to the cache partition, freeing up space in /data which I might suggest to you in this case.

[Q] Device says it's low on space but memory card is not close to full

I just turned on the phone and it says it's low on space. There is 13GB avaliable of the 14GB memory card. Is the actual phone memory being used up and how do I clear this?
You clear it by uninstalling apps
Best way to avoid this is by using partitioning your sd card and using link2sd- GOOGLE IT and you'll see what it is
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
Your internal memory is getting filled up. Shift majority of your apps to the SD card. Better yet, if you have root, I suggest Link2SD. Xperia Blog wrote up a nice tutorial a while back. (I now have virtually unlimited space XD )
In order to clear which memory is low, check following address:
Settings --> Applications --> Manage applications
the first tab (downloaded), Internal storage is shown. see if there is enough free space on below tab.
on the third tab (On SD card), SD card storage is presented and you can see if it has empty space.

[Q] Problems in moving aplications of internal storage for storing phone

Hi,
With actulizaƧao to 4.2.2 I stopped being able to move any application (even allowing) for storage telelmovel therefore have 25 Gb free on mobile phone that does not serve me for nothing, leaving the remaining 6 GB internal.
Climbed the problem to HTC where I say that this option has been removed from this version, which does not make any sense.
This also happens to you you guys or is just me??
I just have the mobile phone with 5 Gb busy leaving me 1 Gb of internal memory and 25 GB of memory of mobile phone that does not serve me for nothing because I can not move it to the aplications.
Please help!!!
