So it seems the only big storage is of an older build, I personalley use a cooked from of that build cause I love the whole idea of getting rid of the extended rom. So I was wondering what its going to take to get a big storage version of the newest build ROM ?
I know many of us have tried to follow bepe's notes on how to make the changes. If I recall correctly, only once one person was able to get the extra storage realized, but it wasn't stable and not repeatable.
Unfortunately there's a big "grey area" around the OS.nb and how it controls the mapping.
If bepe could get re-motivated to either build a new one, or better yet - give an indepth look so we can do our own, we'd be in much better shape.
Using big storage hacked "old" OS.nb file while building new OS.nb does the trick to any build out there..
So I`ve noticed..
Superstorage
Yes, that works. You get a hybrid though, which seems to vary in reliability from what I gather.
BTW, there is a nomenclature issue with "bigstorage", as it was originally used for pre-WM5 systems for re-allocating between storage and program memory when that could be done. Then it was used to identify roms which were re-packed with tadzio's tools. Now I guess its being used for bepe's mod. I chose "superstorage", to be clear, but I'm not going to fight the tide!
Best wishes,
Well im ready for the naked build 1948 "big storage" haha, with a kitchen please lol
That's be nice

Not sure where to put this because it is not WM6 nor for the Hermes, but here's a link to the Elf 6.1 rom as provided by Pumpiron579.
I haven't tried to extract it yet - but it might be interesting to see what apps are included.

Elf Rom OEM and SYS
Hi Matt,
If anyone is interested in trying whatever new apps are in this rom, I've made it a bit easier to experiment by breaking it down into the constituent OEM and SYS folders.
As the experienced know, Bepe's package tool doesn't always do a 100% job of isolating individual packages, but often you can get away with directly replacing the folders from one rom into another.
Elf Rom 6.1 OEM and SYS
Have fun!
Thanks! I wanted to poke around in it, but have too many projects burning to learn the scoop on dumping the 6.1's yet.
Say - do we have a good tool yet that I'm clueless to? I tried HyperCore, but with no luck. I'm curious how the image is constructed differently, and why / what benefit it is in these changes.
There's lots of nifty new stuff popping up and, well, dumping and discovering can be fun sometimes (better than corn in poo for a 2 year old!)
You can dump it easily with imgfs -kaiser command.

Thanks for the information
Hi,
I was wondering if theres a very fast and stable Rom who only has WM6.1 and anymore working with my diamond.???
Thank you very much for your answer
That's exactly what I want, too...a ultra CLEAN and FAST rom with just base system, so that I can install any soft I want.
There are plenty...
Look at the chef's LITE/LIGHT editions. Many of these do not contain Manila.
Chef 'swtos' just released an updated LIGHT ROM with no Manila.

I use at the moment AZTORs ROM and i have to said... it rocks! BUt it has to many things that i dont use...

It will be really nice to find a rom with just wm6.1 and all BASIC diamond functions, without TouchFlo (Manila) and fast, secure and stable like AZTORs ROM.???

I use the UltraLight Morna 1.8 ROM from the great "Carburano":

Hi guys, I've read the entire internet looking for a solution...!
and I'm not able to find a solution... (probably because of my english skills...)
I've just bought an htc diamond on e-bay and it has installed a non-official rom which it has several troubles: Rom version 1.37.412.2 ESN
I've downloaded the last available rom in spanish (?):
(RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE_2.03.405.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship)
from the htc spanish site but when I try to install it an ERROR[294] : INVALID VENDER ID, comes up. I've read about Upgrading, cooking, flashing and about Hard-SPL, but I'm not sure to understand rightly enough, so here's my question:
What should I do to install the rom downloaded from htc?
I understood that I have the problem because the hard-spl installed on my diamond causes the problem, so I guess I should install a new one...but which one?, and if I'm wrong... where may I find the information to solve my problem? I'm getting nuts of trying so many different things...
Lot's of thanks even if you don't answer, it's been a long read!

It's not that difficult, trust me...
My personal favourite ROM which sounds like it fits your needs is Suiller's Dia Duit ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440683
The beauty of this ROM is that, you simply put all your CABs into a directory on your Internal Storage. On hard reset / flashing, a script will automatically all your CABs for you! There's also a lot of other stuff that can be done (search for tweakPers.mscr in his thread).
nice nice really interesting... thank you people for your tips! i hope we can help someone with the same problem ))

When you look at people's custom roms, usually the ones without TF3D are called classic, lite, ultra lite, no manila etc.
The other thing you can do is go to settings and Today and remove the TF3D check box. TF3D will remain installed but it will no longer be running. You can get TF3D back by rechecking the box in Today settings.
make a list of no wanted and wishes language and wait a little bit.
you will get than your wishes rom.

Dynamic page pool, only 19M free RAM
First impression- it seems this rom has a page pool set to zero. Although the phone is amazingly fast, It has only 20M free RAM initially, without trying to install anything. Also- the memory vary down to 16M from time to time without any open app. SKTOOLS makes it 21M but it is too low for my needs. I have changed PP to be 2M and will re-flash and report.
Besides that, from 4 minutes playing with it, very nice look and feel. Will keep posting results soon.

Great ROM but not for me
So sorry to say that, but I can't have a use of this rom. i love everything about it, really, It is well cooked, with everything i need and very little to add.
But it has too much RAM occupied all the time. I tried canceling tasks and gain memory and it does not get enough free RAM for me. To begin with only 48M RAm are available (Chanvi gets 51M) and about 65%-66% is taken at all times without any plugin. iGO will not run properly with less than 20M RAM free. I am short 4-5M to be happy, so although i really think it is one hack of a rom, I can't use it for my needs.
If you don't need memory like i am- I recommend it. Best SIP/Keyboard and GUI I have seen up to date... just memory kills me.

nice feedback bigE!
very informative
Last V49 was good and I believe that this one is good too. I am against mixing of Manila2D and Titanium especially for Trinity. We need as much free RAM and Storage as we can get. So there is no need to have two interfaces. I tried to contact PhamQuang but without any success so am asking you people especially you arnooo to try to arrange with PhamQuang to cook Titanium only ROM.
Thanks.
Guys, if you want to have a lot of free RAM, my advice is stop using Manila2D or TF3D especially on WM 6.5!
The rom has a bug "RING TONE" - This ring tone file is corrupted or unavaible please choose a different ring tone .. the ring tone are all corruped

Ahhh, great advice. I don't use CHome, M2D and SPB when I need RAM freed. I turn today plugins off when I need memory yet even as 'naked' this rom is about 10M short of memory. Chanvi has cooked some better memory sensitive roms than that. However- as far as GUI and beauty, I like this one better. So in the matter of chosing between beauty and memory, alas, I chose Chanvi's.
There is no one Oz. of criticism here. Just an opinion.

This is a great rom I have had a good play with quite a few now and this one seems to be the better one as far as speed. I had a few problems with getting tomtom 7.9 to work but over come these all ok now.
GREAT WORK.
I tried to install this rom from as much as 4 different computers running XP and Vista, and could not flash. Every time the RUU gives me the Error 200 saying I must update the flashing tool. I tried the same ROM image with different RUU versions and none of them seems to work.
Am I missing something??
Thanks!!

Do you have SPL and radio rom updated. Try this link http://trinityguides.info , and try to update this first.
Do you have p3600 or p3600(I)? Very important!
This ROM is for P3600.

Radio: 1.56.70.11
SPL: SPR-1.20.Olipro
Thanks!

Maybe something happened with that SPL. The last thing that I can suggest to you is to try to flash the HARD SPL again. Im using Des' Crash-Proof SPL and I think that I also had a problem with the Olipro.
Do you flashing from the three color screen or from the booted device?
Tried both, from bootloader and booted device :S I will now try to install this Hard-SPL you suggested and the new V51 rom
Hi
So, not entirely sure why MS went and released 6.5 when the prettier, more usable, 6.5.3 was just around the corner, but hay.
I've seen tell of WM 6.5.3 working on the TG01, but so far my searches have only pointed to roms for HTC devices (not surprisingly). Does anyone know of a working 6.5.3 update .cab installer that are for UK TG01's? If so would they be very kind and point me at it!
Thanks all.

You cant update the hole OS with just a cab, you would have to cook a rom with the desired Build version in your case 6.5.3, sadly there no way to cook a rom for the tg01 as of yet, so your stuck with the old UI style builds e:g 6.5

Pretty sure that's exactly what I did to go from 6.1 to 6.5 - although in that case the .cab was an installer provided by Toshiba.
I simply meant has anyone made a ROM and a simple one file system for installing it, I'm not a developer, more an enthusiastic amateur... Im likely to brick my only phone if I get much more complicated than compiled installers.

You actually can, it's called Image Update, and it's been around since WM5 (though mostly unused). Image Update allows special .cab.pkg updater files to write to ROM, update the XIP, replace critical files, and resize partitions on the fly, among other features, all while keeping user data unharmed. Also, if you hard reset, the updates still remain. There are some developers, such as Da_G and ND4SPD among others, working on utilizing Image Update for chefs, to put out updates for their ROMs instead of making users hard reset and lose their data each ROM release. It's really quite an interesting project, you might be interested in taking a look for yourself. Link's here.
The TG01 is the first device I know of that utilizes the Image Update system for ROM upgrades, although AT&T has started putting out Windows Mobile hotfixes in .cab.pkg format for select devices, ensuring the updates are permanent yet won't harm user data. Unfortunately, the TG01 .cab.pkg files need to be signed by Toshiba, and although there are 6.5.x ROMs for the TG01 (the demo models at CES 2010 were running 6.5.x) they're probably all internal and I'd bet very well guarded.

I might not know a lot about smart phone OS's but I do know quite a bit about computing in general, enough to know that when I download and install a .cab file from Toshiba which writes to ROM and updates the OS from 6.1 to 6.5... that. it. actually. happened.
I'm new to this I'm not hallucinating.
Thanks DaveTheTytnIIGuy for that, interesting to know that the TG01 is new in operating like this, as it's the first Smartphone I've used as my day-to-day handset (as opposed to just messing around with old ones) I didn't realise this wasn't more widespread*.
I understand that Toshiba never planned to release with 6.1 but delays to 6.5 forced them to go to market with 6.1 and their half baked 'stripe' theme bolted on. Perhaps the use of a cab.pkg installer was the bast way they could allow non-technical users to quickly and easily get their handsets working as they where intended.
After all it's not like people can feel like they would be able to ask for help on a forum or something, that would just get patronising ***** insulting their intelegence...
So now I guess I have research to do as to how cooked ROM's are usually installed, and if someone has cooked one for the TG yet.
Cheers.
Just out of curiosity:
How large was the .cab?
How much free storage space do you now have on your device? (Settings->System->Memory)
What build of WM 6.5 are you currently running? (Settings->System->About)
Also, if the file you downloaded was a .cab (not a .cab.pkg) then it wouldn't have used the Image Update system built into Windows Mobile... there are other (much worse) methods of updating a ROM via a cab file, hence why I am asking the above questions.

Sorry I should point out i'm using the term .cab as short hand for any kind of cabinet file based installers. Actually I had forgotten an interesting point about Toshiba's file.
After putting in your IMEI number and confirming your carrier etc at Toshiba's website, you can download a .exe file (basically a self extracting archive) which contains a .tsw file.
I had actually forgotten it was this type of file, is this a Toshiba-unique format? Because strangely, when you run it the standard windows .cab installer screen appears and windows refers to the file as a .cab.pkg file (TG01WP_5005000167.tsw is the file, windows says it's installing/downloading TG01WP_5005000167.cab.pkg if I remember rightly)
A colleague with their own TG01 got a different file name when they downloaded their update a few months later... but they seem to be no differences
I currently have build 21840.5.0.60. The installer is 247mb in size. I have 205.13mb program memory, 262.53mb storage, available on the handset.

You need to do more thingas cause custom roms cant be dumped and reconstructed... many chefs has been cook with kitchens that deletes files called DSM that files are required to dump so... the dump is corrupted
Keep it up Im uploading a new kitchen FULL 6.5.X in the stickie here you can check it i uploaded part 1 and 3 jiji atm sorry tomorrow i will upload the part #2
Tnx for help ! I will try this kitchen.
I only want clean Windows 6.1 ROM,with 12 buttons manager, max storage, max ram 32/33,with mms, without office and any other application.Only speed hacks,12bt communication manager, accoustic parameter included and nothing else I cant find new clean rom like this based on 6.1... I only finded old pandora, but with old comm manager, based on very old build of 6.0... So I need to broke my head to make 1 custom rom : ) Someone with good knowledge, can make this for 20 min : ) So,need to try alone ... to make most clean rom ever lol.
I dont want to be serious `cooker`,only want 1 custom rom for me,who have a lot of storage, ram and good speed.

Here is my 6.1 kitchen. It is based on crc's rom (I dumped his rom), you can add or remove whatever you want! It is big storage, and runs quite well!
It will start with ~27 meg, never had any issues with running out of memory with a standard today screen, start adding other stuff to the today screen, and memory goes away!
I haven't been very active on here lately, work got us new blackberries, and my 2 hermes have just been collecting dust! I guess I should sell 1 and keep the other for back up.
Nice to see you again boog im using your kitchen for 6.1 but i use my own OEM pkgs... but i had a xtarnge issue.... in newer builds... i had a mouse pointer when i tap the screen, exactly where i tap infact, and with your OEM i dont have this xtrange behaivour... whats diferent or what do you use or change to make them dissapear? im using 21057 build
I have my old 6.5 hermes kitchen here for you also if you want. it's been a while since i used it though

Oh, man, I'm not sure. There is probably a driver in there somewhere causing it. And because crc didn't use it, I don't have it lol. But, it would drive me nuts too!
It might be a fun chore to find what driver/file is doing it.
EDIT: maybe try swapping the newer browser for the older one.
