Hello everybody, after a long debate with my wife, I've finally choose XDA IIs over the Mini for connectivity reason and the nice thumb board. I've tried the Mini for a week back then, and I was very pleased with the features it brings. The Intellipad and Intellidialer is awesome, it makes the Mini like a true phone (one hand operation).
After using the IIs for a while, I really miss that pad and dialer thingie. Since I'm very new to the Windows Mobile scene as my past experience with a PDA are all Palm OS based, I'm lost without clue here... Can the pad and dialer be installed to my IIs? If not, is there any 3rd party application which has the same function as both the Intellipad and Intellidialer?
One more question... My IIs has this problem where message sent icon is not cleared after sending an sms. Although it didn't affect the system, it's just annoying, a soft reset removes the icon though, but it reappears after I send an sms.
Regards,
Miki
I'd like this for my xda IIs aswell
Actually, you CAN add smart dialing to your IIs just like the Mini... I've done just that with the file from my GF's Mini. The Mini's Ext ROM is available on the FTP if you guys need it.

i have just installed the cab files for the 2 applications onto my IIs and they work fine got them off the ftp site under magician ,also the problem with your sms are you running pocket plus ?i was on my xda II and had this problem u need to set tmail.exe as an exception in the close options this may solve it.
Can you post a link to which intellipad version you used, many thanks
It doesn't matter i've found them and they work great.
Well come on then, tell us mere mortals where
Kev
Here you go, make sure you soft reset after each one is installed.

Thanks padlad, the intellipad works great, but that smartdialing doesn't seem to have any significant function, I haven't search the intellidialer though.
Thanks guys, I was at a lost before coming to this forum.
Open up the dial pad and tap a few numbers, it should pop up a box with the corresponding names. Make sure you have soft reset your device after installing. I can only tell you how it is working on my XDA IIs (Blue Angel) so not sure about other devices

Silly me... I didn't reset my IIs after installing the cab file, after resetting it's done deal... Sorry, my first experience with Windows Mobile device.
Hi
I tried installing these on my IIs, after a soft reset with no progs/add ons etc running.
InteliPad appeared to install OK, but I cant see any differences on the device, no additions to the existing dialer, no new progs, and nothing in 'remove programs'. A further look shows that althought the installer said 'installing to \windows\intelipad' the folder \windows\intelipad does not even exist!
The SmartDialing prog will not install. It just moans about 'the file \windows\iacontects.dll is in use or in rom' Said file is *not* in use since no progs are running on the device.
Any idea's? My device is a bog standard, original romed XDA IIs
Nigel
rename 'iacontacts.dll & displaycid.dll' under windows\, then install intellidial again...

I had the message sent icon problem on my mini whenever i closed the contacts menu before the icon dissappeared - a bug. If you wait at the contacts menu after you send the message without closing it the icon should dissappear. :?

Yup... Definitely a bug... pen6uin tips for adding tmail.exe exception on the Pocket Plus for preventing the sent icon to appear, is to make the messaging program never close.

Cheers works a treat. The intelidialer thing is top, the system info tool is just duplicating existing applets (but bringing them into one place).
EDIT: I was of course talking ****e about the system info tool. I installed resco explorer at the same time and it was a part of that, not a part of the O2 stuff!!
Nigel
So the intellipad gave me the one handed calling capability on the phone program. What exactly does the smartdialing cab do?
It does not install on my XDAIIs as I have a cooked rom and claims that this is not an O2 device. It's true that my XDAIIs comes up as an Imate but works beautifully with the cooked rom.
Any idea how I can get these 2 intelli programs to recognize my device? Original O2 device from Hong Kong.
Thanks.
Anyone have this problem on a uk XDA IIs with smartdialler, using the sliding keyboard to input digits seems to freeze after the first number, turning smartdialler off allows number dialling ok. Using release O2 rom with radio 1.06.02
I have had these on for a few days now and have never tried the smartdialer with the slide down keyboard, it wasn't designed for that in mind, it's been taken from a device that doesn't have the keyboard. I have tried it and it doesn't freeze but it will not go past the first number. It's easier with the touch screen anyway.
Can someone please share their experience.
I am interrested to know how the devices perform in the Corporate install of the O2 and the JasJar.
Having used both I would recommend the o2 Exec ROM, I've ended up reverting back to this due to stability issues with the Imate ROM. Both ROM's will need registry hacks, go with the o2 one running in corporate mode.
The corporate with the code 0506?
Is the pocket MSN there on that configuration?
Which one is the most generic config?

Yes,you can flash any ROM to your Jasjar , you will lose your setting email..etc,others same as new.
I have just loaded my MDA PRO with the O2 ROM, and tryed all the possible installs (basic, Corporate with code 0506 and personal)
Only the Corporate one is really customisation free. I have myself bypassed the extended_ROM so now I have run only one cab the Default_Enable_VT_RTPlugin_0727_2_signed.CAB which is responcible for the video call. Strangely enough I have the same scin in the dialer as I had in the JasJar ROM...
Also as mentioned by... that by O2 ROM the splash screen is not installed it is not true, as right after the upgrade to the O2 ROM and the reset you see the O2 splash screen, which is untill now the nicest looking splash screen.
What I can say after 2 hours of using the O2 ROM is the following:
1. The amount of free program memory after reset is the same as by JasJar ROM.
2. The device is at least twice as fast as with the JasJar ROM.
Conclusion for now I am much happier with the O2 ROM. Much more stable and responsive.
As I am using Jasjar and after your comments I am considering moving to o2 could you tell me how you configured your Jasjar? Specifically, I am using my jasjar without the extended rom except for the video dialler and the bluetooth patch. It is generally running well except for the need to hard reset once in a while. When comparing with the O2 were you also using Jasjar without extenstion?
Thanks, apap
Having used both ROMs, I think they're essentially the same ROM with a few minor branding cosmetic mods... The two ROMs are only dated 2 wks apart and doubt there are any major differences.
To be honest, I couldn't find any performance gain or loose using either one of them and the O2 ROM seem to be slightly smaller in size (maybe due to the additional Imate games/themes etc?) So after going Imate ROM with O2 extended ROM, I went back to all O2 ROM..
I have a Jasjar. Due to the machine freezing occassionally on arrival of a new SMS I would like to give the O2 ROM a try.
I shall be obliged if someone can tell me that when I have installed the O2 ROM and would like to go back to the i-mate ROM would this be possible. What is the procedure to revert from O2 ROM back to the I-mate ROM.
I will appreciate your help

OK boys and girls...
I have tryed the O2 ROM the whole day yesterday and last night late reverted to JasJar ROM. Reason: maybe I did something wrong but in corporate install of the O2 ROM with the code 0506 but I had no pdf reader which is unfortunately a crucial software for me. I have tried to install it from the cabs of the O2 ROM and from JasJar ROM but it would not work. Of course the solution might be to get a cracked version. But that fact pissed me off so much that I have loudly cursed O2 and reverted to JasJar.
Observations: I have noticed that O2 ROM has more program memory when you reset the device but once you use the thing the amount of program ROM is the same as in JasJar. So the fact that just after the soft reset there is more ROM is actually not interresting. I also found that in the O2 ROM there is a problem with the start menu opening up first time after a soft reset (If you soft reset the device and then for the first time click on start it takes 10-13 seconds to open it up) and this issue was the biggest issue for me to change to O2 ROM. Pocket MSN seemed to work faster and is more responsive on the O2 and maybe overal performance is a little notch better then JasJar. The Bootup Splash screen on the O2 is much nicer then on JasJar it is really sharp and cool
Conclusions: If you like experimenting try out the O2 ROM because you get to see also (if you try out the Personal install) how badly an operator can F*** up the device, it is beyond my understanding but it is hideous their Launch software, the screen looks like a battle field and I get dizzy looking at it, the task manager which it installs is such a crap only due to a fact that once you close all the progs with the task manager the task manager is still running so to close it too you have to go to settings ->system->memory and close it from there. I can understand that the task manager which you can use from your today screen has to be running in order to work but this task manager you have to start by going to programs and starting it manually, It is comepletely beyond me what is the purpose of such a task manger, but hey maybe I am STUPID ???
The battery icon moved next to the start I can understand the handyness of this, but the O2 icon which does not do anything is also comepletely beyond my understanding. Plus when changing the screen orientation the battery and the O2 icons suddenly get a darker background and it looks like it hangs, but it only looks like it the device does not hang, but it is still an ugly sight to see...
If you opt for the Corporate install with the 0506 code I think you are fine the machine performs as it should, and is very stable, no O2 annoyances and no O2 **** to be seen apart from a couple of icons in the Programs. One of them is the O2 install which I beleive supposed to allow you to change your install type, without making a hard reset, but of course it only works in one direction, meaning that if you have a corporate install with the code 0506 and you want to change to standard or to personal it will work but if you are running the standard and want to go back to corporate or if you are runnning the Personal (full featuer O2) and want to change to standard it will not work. After playing around with that I have found that my simmanager and enroller icons dissapeared, but I was able to get it back by running one of the cabs. it was different with the pdf reader, since I need one I have decided to run that O2 install type thingy and chose first standard install which did not bring the pdf back, and then I have chosen the personal install which would mean that I should have now everything on it , the pdf icon was there but alais the pdf did not work I kept on getting an error.
One more thing when you install the CORP version the dialer skin is the same as by the JasJar so I beleive that that is the generic skin, since the O2 Dialer skin is very vague the buttons are beautiful, but have to much light in them so it is difficult to see the letters
SO I am back to JasJar ROM and I beleive will stick to it for a while.
The progs I run :
TT5.1
Resco Explorer
Skype 1.2 beta
Backgammon
Total commander
All installed on the storage card
I hope this not too boring and helps folks here.

Good luck
The Exec ROM (basic and Corporate) do not suffer from a buggy Messaging app on the JJ ROM. The JJ ROM can cause the JJ to freeze on SMS notification and can crash when receiving emails over UMTS.
You mean the imate email app ?? or the bult in functionality. Because I do not have those symptoms. and I have received only today already about 12 sms messages.
About receiving the e-mail overUMTS: I use exchange active sync over UMTS and works like a charm without any problems...Maybe it freezes when using pop mail or imap? What is your configuration ?
And once again by the "buggy messaging app" you mean the imate e-mail??
Can someone confirm the presence of MSN and PDF inthe O2 Corporate mode ????
Thanx
Jasjar or O2?
I have also been wondering whether to try O2. Overall, after many trials I am quite satisfied with Jasjar. I have not installed extended rom except for bluetooth patch and smardialer cabs. I am running: pocketinformant, magicbutton, repligo, netfront 3.3, resco explorer, pocket mechanic, microsoft voice command. I have done a number of recommended register tweaks. I have also updated the radio to 1.04.
Speed is good.
Remaining problems: Once in a while I need to soft reset to overcome freezes. My main problem now is that I cannot install new programs or updates, nor can I remove programs.
It would be useful to find out how others are dealing with these problems and whether thos running O2 corporate are confronting similar problems.
Should I switch to O2 corporate? There seem to be conflicting views on the matter.
thanks, apap
Churchill:
You wrote a few things about Extended ROMs, Code 0506 (for o2 Corp. mode?), and about bypassing the extended ROMs.
Also there was a mention of bluetooth and radio Cabs...
I would be obliged if you could elaborate and explain them to me.
I have the o2 Exec and would like to experiemnt with the corp. mode since I find that in personal mode it freezes up all too often (not enough memory I guess...) but I wouldn't like to loose essential functionality by changing my ROM.
Thanks in advance
Well I am right now updating my MDA PRo from JasJar Rom to O2 ROM, since I still think the O2 ROM was a notch faster in the corporate mode.
I would not advice you to bypass the extended rom install as I found that some things do not work properly like the sim manager and pdf.
You are fine with the Corporate mode since it is the cleanest of all options including the JasJar.
Also Pocket MSN is more responsive in the O2 corporate mode, then with JasJar ROM.
So just go ahead and do a hard reset and choose corporate mode with the code 0506.
By the Way as I have already mentioned earlier the Boot splash screen of O2 is the best till now. Funny is that I was called by T-Mobile representative a couple of days ago and asked what I think about the MDA PRO. I have told him that MDA PRO with t-mobile customization is history by me and I am running JasJar. He warned me that if something happens to my device they can not help me now since there is no t-mobile rom available to flash it with (I do not understand that where is the release rom? did they loose it or something?) but I am still eligible for my 2 year warranty. He also asked why I have switched to JasJar, I have told him that the t-mobile customisation is crap and that the device was slow and unstable. He confirmed that and also saysd that this is exactly the reason why he is contacting me, since they aparently received a threat from one of the major consumer organisations in the netherlands. So he sayd that they are verifying the isue with the users and it does not look good since everybody complains. So hopefully t-mobile will release new rom soon...
Funny is that I have mentioned to him that I hate the hideous colors and boot splash screen of t-mobile rom, his answere was that the boot splash screen they are extremely proud of since it took a long time to come up with the design.... DUDE how long can it take to come up with something so hideous?
Anyhow....
P.S. I let you guys know how is my MDA PRo with O2 ROM
Adobe acrobat reader is available freely from the adobe site, in the same way as their readers always are:

The O2 Exec has OS 1.13.48, which has a memory leak bug. Commontime mNotes synchronization cannot free the memory after use, so a 3rd consecutive sync empties out all remaining RAM. This was resolved in OS version 1.13.53, which is on the Jasjar.
Yes, the Exec ROM seems a tad faster, but at least for me the memory leak is decisive for the Jasjar ROM.
Jasjar or O2?
Wiz, have you reverted to Jasjar? Also, I do not quite understand the memory leak problem. Does this mean that there is a danger of losing note information? Finally, any suggestions on how to resolve the inability to add new programs? Does this problem occur only with Jasjar?
Thanks, apap
Hello,
I upgraded the ROM this morning to 1.72.00WWE and also installed the Application Suite (I like voice-dialling).
However since doing this I can no longer call up the drop-down menu from the O2 Icon at the centre top of the screen.
- how can I now move that O2 logo on top of the Windows logo?
- how can I disconnect from GPRS services after connecting? The only way I knew how was to untick the GPRS (or WAP, or whatever) and untick the ticked.
Thanks in advance.
holding down the hangup button for a bit should disable gprs
or use this http://www.gb-soft.cz/XDAII/products.htm tool
i know nothing about o2 or special o2 software
but i doubt o2 software will run unless the rom is a pure o2 rom
and not some tmobile, imate, qtek or... rom put on an o2 device

Hi there
Bored of scrolling through massive threads, maybe it's time we separate some of the issues now. Starting with...
Voicemail indicators not working correctly in WM6.
So, what are your experiences? If yours work, let us know, if not, post what happens.
I'm on Orange UK and I get an SMS from '[email protected]' and '^@' to activate/deactivate the indicator respectively.
I've been googling, and haven't found much about these messages. I think they're supposed to be Class 0 but not sure. Does anyone know which part of the OS is in charge of sorting them out and interpreting them?
Maybe this is a simple reg setting that's missing? Could someone with WM5 and on an operator using vmail notifications run a search through their registry for '[email protected]' and '^@'?
Cheers

I get a different character, for deactivate - its a full size triangle. Again, on Orange UK.
I'll try and run thru installing all the WM5 orange cabs to test on Sun - I've got our Wedding celebration party tommorow! I'll get my ass kicked if I go near it before then.......
Congratulations!
Yeah I get the same full triangle, sorry. I've seen it abbreviated to ^ on a couple of other forums so used that, but it is actually a complete triangle.(Alpha symbol?)

Yep, I have exactly the same problem with the XDA-Live 0.1 ROM. Using Orange UK.
Couldn't delete the second message. I kept getting a message about the a SIM error. Reboot of the phone and the message had gone.
Anyone worked out a fix?
No Voice Mail
Hi all,
I have the same issue with Orange UK as the rest of you. I am supprised that no one has a solution yet. Will keep an eye on this post for a fix !
I cant spend any time on this at the moment.
Setting [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\vmail\Line1\Unread]
"Count"=dword:00000000
clears the notification..
Also once in this state I dont get the initial text, but I do get the vm icon! Something keeps setting the count value to -1 which seems to get it messed up.
Cant find out what processes the notification, but it looks like its something in the base of wm5 as non of the ext rom programs seem to have any effect.
I have no problems with new voice mail indicators, missed call, new sms notifications, etc. All show up correctly. Using Cingular/AT&T..
Maybe the issue is only orange based on the previous comments???
Thanks eagle 1.
If anyone has voicemail notifications working on Orange in WM6 please post, as I'll know I'm doing something wrong.
I've tried all the customisation cabs and nothing's worked so far.
The problem is that the current WM6 rom does not support CPHS this is a set of commands that include the MWI (Message Waiting Indicator), Orange are the only provider in the UL using this feature. I feel the issue is that the bases ROM currently being used by the chef is not a final RTM of WM6 as it is missing a few features that the RTM should have. I used to have the issue when upgrading Nokia roms but with those it was a simple fix through LogoManager.
For more info on CPHS see http://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=220
Thanks, that's great that we have an answer now to why it doesn't work. I guess the obvious thing to do is just wait until the final ROM's released, unless anyone with a bit more knorr-how knows of a way to add CPHS features to WM6...
Can someone try this workaround.....
http://www.miousers.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=144&highlight=dialmonitored
Just dropping by, I'm flat out at work, cant spend any time on this at the moment, but stumbled over the above...This allows the device to clear the count as soon as you dial your VM, not pretty, but a temp fix...(assuming it works!)
(also found this on msdn..... http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa457989.aspx)
and perhaps even editing CEMAIL.VOL may be another route....
This isn't a problem with all versions of WM6.
As well as a SPV M3100 (Hermes) I also have a SPVM5000 (Universal) also on Orange and the notifications work perfectly on the Universal.
SPV M3100 - XDA Live 0.10
SPV M5000 - Midget 0.1
I'll try to compare registry settings see if I can spot anything obvious
One thought as to the VoiceMail indicator and differences between Universal & Hermes versions of WM6.
I was wondering if this is something that is dependant on the radio rom.
I am using the Orange radio rom on my Universal but as far as the Hermes is concerned I've left it with the 1.16.00.00 rom which I think was from prof's SIM & CID unlocker v2a
Interesting...
That could be it. Frustratingly, I updated my radio ROM at the same time as installing WM6 so I can't isolate the problem. I'm using the 1.35 radio ROM that's on the FTP. I suppose this could be where orange make their voicemail customisations.
Is anyone running an Orange radio ROM with WM6? Can you please post your success with voicemail notifications?
I am on WMXL 0.2 and left my radio on the original orange radio of 1.06.00
Since upgrading to WMXL 0.1 and 0.2 I have NOT had the spool icon - but have received the system sms's. So I don't think its radio dependant.
I haven't however run any of the orange ext rom cabs as one or more of them made my wmxl 0.1 unstable - whereas loading wmxl 0.2 and then manually entering data connections etc has given me a fast stable device (without voicemail spool icon!).
Bump......
Anyone had any luck with this yet?

Could you post or PM me the 'sms_providers.dll' file from the windows directory on your SPVM5000 so I can compare it to the one on the M3100 - I think this may be where the problem lies
Looks like it is down to the version of sms_providers.dll as also reported here.

I'll post the file from the SPV M5000 rom if still needed(They are of different size) but it will be after the weekend when I'm back home.
See post #16 from olipro on this thread, all sorted now and working perfectly.

You do need the developer certs installed to use the fix though (link in the thread) and you may have to rename the new dll and do some registry editing - all the info you need is in the linked thread.
My Vario II went dead on me (touch screen stopped working) about 6 weeks ago and I was so busy I didn't have time to put it in for repair (compounded by the need to downgrade to WM5 for warrenty purposes). I finished up using an old MDA phone (running WM5).
Around the same time, I got a Blackberry from my office and started using that for business purposes. And I grew to like it. Don't get me wrong, I always knew that it was a brain-dead phone compared to WM devices but it was so simple to use and the trackball thing is so smooth that I was starting to get seduced by it.
But I got my phone back today, immediately upgraded to WM6 (Schap's V4) and installed my old software - and the Blackberry is back in my briefcase. WM6 is so customisable and tweakable that it leaves the rest behind.
Schap's ROM is great but I'm having two problems. I really like threaded SMS and I want to install Skype (mobile) on my phone - but neither CAB works (both CABs worked fine on all other ROMs). The device hangs when I try to install either app.
Also, button 5 is normally configured for voice dialling but Schap's ROM maps it onto new SMS. I can't see how to enable voice dialling using button 5 (or any other button!).
Any ideas about either problem?

Perform a soft reset, and then try to install the cabs... For the second issue, you can go to Start>Settings>Personal>Buttons and then choose the one you want for button 5....
