Dead Sprint 6600 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I need help reviving my Sprint 6600. I tried upgrading with HA_SPCS_13600_113_00140_6600 a few moments llater it turned restarted and stayed on USB v1.02 or Serial v1.02. Ive tried pressing record+power+reset and record+camera+power+reset and some other combinations but it remains in the same screen. I cant connect to to activesync. Im using vista ultimate on a Laptop. I just need to know if anyone has been able to fix their Sprint 6600 an thus be hope for my device or should i just use it as a $350 paper weight.
Any feed back would be welcomed. Thank you.

XDA 2 Upgrade to ROM 1.72.181

I was in the process of applying an upgrade to the ROM using my laptop.
Everything was going fine so I went to make a drink. When I returned the screen saver was active on the Laptop and the screen on the XDA 2 was grey showing a progress report of 55% complete. When I looked at my PC sdreen there was an error message saying that my USB connection had failed (not the exact words) and offered to try to re-connect or end connection. I tried both but couldn't get activesync to reconnect. I have since tried a soft reset and hard reset but all I have is the O2 start screen with the bubbles. I can not switch off without removing the battery. Please Help

It looks like the screensaver screwed up the connection. Not to worry, your device can still be upgraded.
Put the device in boot loader mode by pressing and holding the jog button (bottom centre of device) and the power button at the same time and press reset button. This should show the bootloader screen (dark screen with Serial V1.0x displayed). Put the device in the cradle and it should then display USB V1.0x. You don't need Activesync as the upgrade process looks after its own connection.
Make sure that the cradle is connected directly to th USB port on your laptop and not to a HUB and that the power supply is connected to the cradle. Disable the screensaver on your PC , restart the upgrade and it should work OK.
Hi there, I am from Malaysia, have feel question:
1) I am currently using Rom 1.72 which WAXX posted it earlier. Should I upgrade to this version that dcs posted? Is it necessary?
2)What is Blckberry that u guys kept on mention?
Thanks you very much.
You are a STAR Sir
Thank you very much for your help. It is people like you that brighten up the dullest of Manchester days. Your advise worked a treat and saved me from returning, what was a paper weight, to the "O2 Service Dept" (who are subcontracted by O2). Why they couldn't have given me the same instructions I will never know.
Just to alert others to the incompetance of the whole system. Nowhere in the instructions does it tell you to switch off the screensaver, (I suppose with hindsite I should have checked it myself!!!).
I spent the best part of an hour on the phone being passed around different departments as I questioned why it should happen and why nothing was being done to rectify the matter.
I am informed by the O2 Service Dept that a memo highlighting the Number of people returning machines affected as mine, has been ciculating the offices of O2, and distributed to Dealers for the last week. Wouldn't it be easier to temporaraly remove the download or add a warning about screensavers, or is this just another way the Service Dept has to make money?
Once again Thank You

Thank you . To be fair though, until you had this happen, I never thought about the consequences of a screensaver activating. It is something I can add to the list of things to be aware of though .
From what I have read from different people on this forum, however, I agree that O2 support is sadly lacking in basic knowledge for these 'modern' devices, and one would now expect their installation instructions to contain the things they should have learnt from people like yourself. We will have to see .

am sat in a corner crying over my dead xda....help!!!

Can anyone help me please ??
I have been scouring this site and many others for hours now and I still am not sure what to do. I tried upgrading my rom and radio on my O2 xdaiis via the 02 site. During the process the programme crashed. Now while the xda is in its cradle it wont charge or register on Async. The screen simply reads USB at the top and v1.01 at the bottom and when out of the cradle SERIAL at the top and v1.01 at the bottom. Have tried all various types of resets but it just keeps coming back to this screen. Is there any hope at all !?! Im not overly technically minded, i can get by but dont get tooooo technical if you reply.
Thankyou in advance for anyhelp you can give !!!!!!!

Put back the Pocket pc on the cradle,it should shows "USB" then restart the flashing progress from the begining..
Personally, I dont think you have looked very hard, this website is full of this sort of requests for almost every hardware version, and every software release revision or hack, and the answer has been the same everytime....

Connecting to pc killing wifi network

Hiya i hope someone can help, i took delivery of my MDA compact 3 yesterday to replace my aging blue angel. Everything went well until i connected it up to the computer. I already have active sync 4.5 installed for my previous phone. But as soon as i connect the phone via usb to the computer it kills my wifi connection. I have to then re boot the machine to get it running again, im 99% sure this is down to the actual phone as my blue angel has worked for years without this problem. Is there a setting that ive missed?, ive spent hours trying to figure this out now, the phone for some reason appears on my network connections (never happend on old one), ive disabled the network setting but it still kills my net..... aggghhh lol
thanks in advance for any help.

thanks for that, sorry for the late reply not been online. Anyways ive tried that and its still doing the same thing, ive now started to sync with bluetooth as this solves the problem but not ideal.
Update...... I just loaded wm6 from tmobile website hoping this may solve the problem. I tried that walk thru again and no dice. I kept losing all my internet connections. SO i had a play with the phone and in the settings menu i found a USB to PC icon. I opened that up and UNTICKED "Enable advance network functionality". Pluged the phone again in the usb slot and away she went, all my connections are still live!! yipee.
Hope this helps a fellow member out in the future.
thanks

Please help please

Hi
Have got a serious problem. In a nutshell I decided to upgrade my ROM using the Samsung website. Ran the updater - after getting to the stage ‘downloading file 2’ it asked me to manually soft reset the phone. So I did and nothing. By now it had reached the ‘downloading file 3’ stage however the updater then froze too. I looked at my phone and all that appeared is a black screen with picture of white phone in the middle and an overlapping solid yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside.
The phone now does not shut off/soft rest or anything. I even took battery out for five minutes but still same screen. The next problem is that I tried to run the updater again however it requires active sync and as the phone does not turn on it will not sync up.
Please can someone help with this? I am noob so please don’t suggest any soldering or hacking type methods but I can work my way round a set of clear instructions using basic software. I have spoke to Samsung who have suggested sending it to their engineer but will take two weeks just to give me a reply as to what’s wrong with it! Further if not covered I am screwed for repair costs and if covered it’s going to take ages and I need my phone back asap. As I used the Samsung website software there must be a way to solve this.
Please can all knowledgeable forum users reply as I have previously relied upon and used advice from this forum with much success. I would really appreciate it. Thanks to all in advance.
Sorry Samsung Omnia by the way
Welcome to forums
As this is an HTC devices forum only you won´t get too much atention, however in off topic there is a thread regarding samsung, perhaps there you can get more help.
Good luck,
Hi,
I suggest to ask on www.modaco.com forum, there many people have developed omina roms, so, for sure they know much more about this PDA.
Usually you should be able to enter in bootloader mode and flash a new rom but I don't know omnia. So, ask there and you'll find some answer.

Hi, I had a similar problem where my gs3 wouldn't show up as an mtp device on my win 7 laptop even tho it had b4 & even after going thru the whole driver reinstall process.
I almost gave up after googling the hell out of this issue, but then I happened upon a post somewhere recommending to shut the phone down, pull the battery out, & then replace it/turn it back on.
Alas, this did the trick. Don't know what caused it or why this worked but it wasn't just dumb luck, it fixed the problem.
