Had Windows Live working, now broken... - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hi folks,
Just a quick question...
I've just switched from the HTC Official WM6 ROM to Shamanix's Grass V1.3
On the HTC Official ROM WLM worked fine; I've installed the WLM 10.6.33.0600 (Fixed) CAB to my device but when it comes to synchronising on the first sign-in it just says that it failed with a message saying there might not be internet connectivity. I've got the T-Mobile UK settings installed and working fine because IE is happy to browse pages (and of course WLM verifies my username and password when first entering)...
I uninstalled this version and also tried the WLM Build 1400 version too and the result is exactly the same.
Does anyone have any idea why it might not be working?
Thanks in advance!
Rob.

the same prob
Welcome in my same Sh..
I have your same problem and unfortunately i couldn't fix it yet,i've tried to change different Roms too,but in vaine.Everything on my device works properly, like Skype,PIE,Etc.But the worst thing is that it doesn't allow me to check my Hotmail on internet too!!!Unbelievable!!!!

I'm using schaps and here it works flawlessly.
You might want to try that otherwise there might be a problem with the account you have at your provider.

i had the same problem, every rom i tried with it cooked in worked fine (black/schaps full etc), but using light roms and any of the various wlm cabs gave me the same errors, my account on wlive was fine.
this issue stopped my use of light roms and ive had to use full roms since.

I'm using a light rom and WLM1600.. works pretty fine..
Hard reset should do the job..

Unreliable GPRS/UMTS: AKU3.x or Radio 1.13?

As the title asks really.
Since moving onto AKU3.x ROM images, I have also moved to radio 1.13, and I am forever getting connection problems with push mail, and WL Messenger.
It says it is connected with the little G, but no data seems to go through. If I soft reset, it works again for a while.
I have used in the last few weeks ROMs from everyone that's posted here, and today Indra's 3.3, but I seem to get similar problems on them all.
Any idea what's going on?

Question: do you also lose phone connectivity?
This is a problem in AKU. In AKU 2 MS have changed the RILGSM interfaces, while HTC have not fixed that in their code. So you'll get problems connecting to APNs that require passwords and your device cannot connect to them from the first attempt.
I have the same problem. There are solutions -
1. Flash AKU1 ROM (no push email support, only OUTD)
2. Use APN that does not require login/password
3. Wait when Crossbow ROM would become public. I think that that bug would be fixed there.
4. Just live with that bug.
I think option 4, then 3 will do for me thanks hehe.

I think is the some problem happening with BBconnect, that produce times works the pushmail and times not. I was thinking could be related to the new "Internet Sharing" program.
Strange, my AKU2 works fine with Radio 1.13.00 (Jwritesmcps's version extracted from his AKU3.2).
My AKU2 with Radio 1.11.00 was also ok and least memory leak, except of some missed calls & clarity which prompts me to change to Radio 1.13.00.
Helmi_c AKU3.3 works fine with Radio 1.14.10.
Password or no password, pushmail, pop3, internet, etc.
But in AKU3.3, I do have a problem with additional apps (vcard) that jams up my sms/mms. uninstall it and it is ok.

Windows Live and T-Mobile UK Sync error

I am sure this has been covered elsewhere but I have searched extensively and cannot find a solution to this.
I am having problems syncing with Windows Live. I have tried pretty much every recent ROM and whenever I go to set up my account, it accepts all my details and goes through the set up procedure, but when it goes to sync, it says Synchronisation has failed because 'Windows Live is unable to connect. The service may be temporarily unavailable or you may be in a place where data coverage isnt very good. please try again later.'
If I log onto the same account on an identical device running wm5 with the non-beta live cab installed, I have no problems.
I have tried with WiFi and 3G and get the same result.
I know its not a problem with signal because I have a wm5 and wm6 device running side-by-side.
When I run the set up on wm5, it automatically initiates an internet connection but on wm6, if I havent already opened up a data connection before starting Windows Live I get an error straight away saying it cant find and active connection.
I have noted that other people have had similar issues but cant find a solution.
The devices I am using are UK Tmobile - could there be a network issue?
Had same problem a while ago when first upgraded to WM6
Tried various flavours including LSVW's but always had the same problem.
I then tried a different radio rom and Custel's great WM6
thankfully all is now working brilliant and never had a problem.
However not sure if this was the change in radio or the flavour of WM6 that caused it to correct.
i also have changed the settings in HTC custom so that in the comms tab i do not have GPRS/3G always on.
I have it set to disconnect.
Hope it helps.
I had this issue as after a few hours I did figure out one POSSIBLE cause.
When I turned off messenger on my PC, then it was able to sync.
You'd think it wouldn't need that but there you go.

Hi, Kindly wanted to CHRISNASH, if the suggestion our fellow guys suggested resolved the issuse of connecting & syncing with window live as i hav the exact same problem? PLEASE...
i'll try the Custel rom tomorrow - its the only one I haven't tried I think. its certainly not an issue with the desktop as I dont have an account logged on.
I'm pretty sure I havent had these issues with my orange sim so it looks as though it might be tmobile related.
I havent used any connection tweaks so it cant be that.
ill also try one of the earlier lsvw roms which I know worked with my orange sim and see if that works.
any other suggestions would be seriously appreciated as I am running a conference with some students next week and I have planned a load of activities using it!
Windows Live not working with t-mobile and wm6
Well, I just tried my orange sim in my wm6 hermes and Windows Live synced fine. I put my tmobile sim in and it wouldnt sync giving the usual error message that it cant find a connection even when there is one. So I guess there is an issue with tmobile UK and Windows Live on WM6. Interestingly I have no such issues with it on WM5. Unless of course its an issue with the Radio version. I'll test that out now and report back.
Its definitely an issue with tmobileUK, wm6 and windows live, cos I just flashed the same device that had wm6, 1.41.00 radio and tmobile sim and wouldnt sync with windows live, with a wm5 rom and kept everything elas the same and it synced just fine!
Any ideas anyone?

8525 + WM6.1 = cant send email + No camera?

After installing Hard SPL 2.0, ATT radio 1.5.4, and Pays 6.1 i have the following problems, have searched for a few days now and still havent found anything.
I installed a CAB to set up my phone for ATT service, now i can recieve email, get online and Download MMS. SMS is fine. I can even use internet sharing perfectly. (although OUTGOING email also doesnt work when teathered.) Everything else is good besides:
No Camera, No Flashlight, No Superbright. Cannot SEND email via smtp with auth. Tested the smtp from my pc (not teathered) and it works fine.
If anyone even has this problem, make me feel better that im not the only one. I have tried flashing to different ROMs and camera has never worked since 6.1 flash. I also installed radio version 1.4.8 and still coulnt send email. - could this be my internet settings?
Thanks to all who can help!

Did you flash to a stable ROM (eg original WM 6 ROM) before fashing Pay's ROM? My two cents; try flashing your phone again, this time flash to an original wm6 ROM like a AT&T ROM, soft-reset before customizations start, then flash Pay's ROM. Hope this helps.
Soft reset before customizations start?
When the phone turns on for the first time after flash - before the customization screen? Is that what is meant by that?
I would definatly flash to an offical AT&T ROM and then see what happens..
I had installed the official WM6 rom - camera did not work. Did not set up email so i dont know if that worked. I also installed a custom ATT specific rom which camera did not work.
Why would i have all other types of internet access except outgoing email?
Camera problem
I get that from time to time on my 8525 (Hermes). The fix is simple, unplug the phone from any power source, pop out the battery, wait about 20-30 seconds and place the battery back in.
In the old "PDA only" world, this is what we'd call a Battery Reset. More effective than a Soft Reset and not as drastic as a Hard Reset.
When my 8525 (Hermes) Camera stops working, as well as the flashlight and all, I do this little trick and it fixes it every time.
I hope this fixes things for you!
I am having the same problem with my 8525 running pays rom tried everything still can't send email. tried flashing to an official att rom same problem problem started only after i flashed to pays rom....help.
Camera problem
I Flashed my XDA Stellar with supposedly the official wm6.1 rom. Now my TOM TOM takes forever to get a fix and although my camera still takes pictures, there is no view finder image to show me what im looking at. Dissapointing.

WM6.1 Email staying in Outbox

HI everyone, I am trying ot find a ROM that is build 19576.x.x.x or newer. There is an issue with older ROM's that in certain circumstances when you sync with ActiveSync to your corporate Exchange 2007 mailbox server and Exhange 2007 CAS server (tested with 2003 mailbox and 2007 CAS and that works fine), the email although sent will stay in your outbox on your device, and everytime you sync it sends it again, I have it on good authority that it is supposedly fixed in 19576.x.x.x of the WM6.1 ROM, but none of these very nicely cooked ROM's out there have this... if any of you geniouses can come up wth one, i can assist in the testing of this.
Thanks
here is a build that is newer.

Not as of yet, but there may be light at the end of the tunnel there are two possiblities:
1) This may be related to ISA 2004 not doing some proxying properly (depnds on your corporate exchange setup), but after this second light seems not:
2) MS was unable to reproduce the error in their labs so they put in a fix that they "thought would" fix the issue (hence me asking for a certian ROM version), which was the new version of the ROM. But they have now managed to re-produce the error in their labs so should have a fix forth-coming,...
I've experienced this issue if you restored your email using SPB Backup. For some reason, if you backed up your email/sms using SPB Backup and then try to restore the email onto a new ROM, the email/sms can't be deleted. My only workaround was to use PIMBackup instead.
Hope this helps...

I don't use any backup software on my phone, so this isn't the issue for me. Thanks for the tip though.
Similar issue
Without trying to hijack this thread.... I am having a similar issue.
With every ROM I have tried, my POP email (gmail) works perfectly for about two weeks. Sending and receiving is perfect. Then, without reason, I can't send any email. It just sits in the outbox after an attempted send with the error: "The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try again."
Every ROM I have tried has this issue eventually.
Any sugggestions?
I am getting the same issue with Ex2007 and WM6.1
My situation was that we have HTC TYTN II phones that we upgraded to 6.1 from the HTC site (not a cooked ROM). When we upgraded to a new Ex2007 CAS server it was working fine. I then moved the Ex2007 CAS server to a new AD site and everything appeared to be working fine. The only issue we have is with the 2 mobiles running WM6.1 and are on the Ex2007 Mailbox (different ex2007 server to the CAS). Sync appears to be working but we get the same problem as the Original Poster.
Have you found anything to resolve? My only fix was to downgrade to WM6 and it now works fine.

Thats quite interesting as from that it appears that this issue in your instace is if you have the Mailbox on a server different to the CAS server.... which is the case in all ours.
We have not resolved it yet but MS was able to re-pro the issue so a proper solution should be forth coming soon..
Other than that Vodafone has released a version which this issue is supposed to be fixed in:
"If you have a Vodafone V1615 device then they have just released the upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 on their Help/Support site!
You can download the upgrade from http://help.vodafone.co.uk/v1615upgrade.php"
My only solution
My only solution...and its not a real solution is to simply reflash the ROM. And luckily for me (and everyone here) new ROMs are not too hard to come by. It spices things up to change.
But, when I do find that special ROM on occasion I tend to stick with it for awhile. Just reflashing every two weeks or so.
However (and I hope I don't jinx myself) I have been running the same ROM for probably three weeks now and my email is working fine. :/

What ROM are you using? I've been plagued with this problem for months now, driving me nuts.
Sorry for the delay.....but its all for a reason.
It wasn't 12 hours after I posted that last message that my email stopped working AGAIN. And, naturally, I was out of town away from my trusty laptop to re-flash.
So...on to one of the 20226 ROMS.
Got a response to a MS fault case I logged. They are working on it as a Bug in Ex2007 Sp1 Rollup 1, they are yet to confirm 100% that it is a bug but they have said that an update should be released soon.
In the meantime MS recommends running WM6.0 if you are experiencing this problem.

Got some more details, the fix is now for Exchange rather than any ROM, seems MS have fixed this in Exchange 14, the next version of Exchange. They are now trying to retro-fit this as a patch into Exchange 2007 (ver12), then they will pass it through there release process so bear with it is all I can say, there is light at the end of the tunnel....

WM 6.1 Problems with Exchange Sync

Hello together,
i have tested many roms from here with WM 6.1 but all (WWE and GER) Roms doens't work with an exchange sync. All WM 6 Roms are run fine, WM5 teh same but all WM 6.1 doesn't sync. I became allways the same error message in activesync.
Error Code: 85010013
Some people wrote me an PN that the problem is:
- this error comes if the DeviceEncryption.dll and its related registry entries are missing.
- That problem may exist if the developer has removed Enterprise from the ROM. Those modules are needed for the Exchange syncing
Can anybody tell me, if there is a chance to create an WM6.1 ROM that works with the exchange server?

i have tested this rom today, i can't sync with exchange.
Many people doesn't have problems because the exchange setting are not so strong. there is a flag called "allow non-provisionable device", when you turn on this sync works fine but not when it is off. But, it is a security leak when this setting is on!

Then your server is configured for good reason in this way.
You want to access the server with a ROM which might be potentially unsafe, because it was cooked by some anonymous guy on the internet, whose intentions are unknown.
I guess it is the needed certificates that the cooks dont want to pay for.

Yes, I got some new htc devices with official released WM6.1 and they are all working fine. Really want to find out what's the different between them.
Morning all.
I'm a long-time reader, first-time poster, but I thought I'd share some further findings on this. I've been having similar troubles and have been playing with this for a few days. All cooked 6.1 roms I tried were refusing to work with Exchange 2007, returning the infamous 85010013.
It seems to have been established here & elsewhere that the "Device not provisioned" is causing it, and more specifically the Remote Wipe functionality. Assuming that your organisation isn't willing to not implement this on every phone containing business data, a workaround is needed.
As part of the initial phone setup, you're prompted to set a pin number. After testing, I've found that setting a pin number scuppers the phone provisioning every time. With every test since, skipping this initially and waiting to be prompted to do it when you're asked to enforce the security policy when first connecting to the Exchange server gives no problems whatsoever.
Hope this helps somebody...

No, i never set the pin at initial phone setup. I always set then pin at the first connect to exchange. I have already the same problem.
So, did the above solution work for anyone? What PIN does he mean? The pin from my SIM card?
Not syncing with Exchange Server - Error 85010013
On my TMO Wing I can flash Touch-IT_v4.4_Stuffed-RUU or Touch-IT_v4.41_Lite-RUU Roms and I am successfully syncing with the Exchange Server.
When I try other ROMs like Touch-IT_v6.1.3_Clean_UC or ITsPapaFinal_Wing (or any PADVIET ROMs) I get error 85010013 when attempting to sync with Exchange Server.
Since it works on some cooked ROMs and not all cooked ROMs I can't see that it's a setting on the Exchange Server. Logic states that there is a difference in the some (perhaps wm6.1) ROMs that is causing the malfunction in syncing with the Exchange Server.
Admittedly, I no very little about programming but I will continue to fish in the dark to learn more about this problem. There are several fantastic chefs here and I'd like to use their ROMs but I need the email to sync for my work.
additional info
I have the same 85010013 problem. Just flashed a new rom and tried to setup exchange. Got the error. Restored from a Sprite backup (level 2) and this added a second exchange server to the list. This one sync'd while the original did not. Deleted the original and then everything seemed fine.
This leads me to believe that it must be something in the Active Sync setup, since at the same time one worked and one didn't Still researching, but wanted to throw this bit of info out there.
Any luck? I hope we can figure this out. How can I get a second Exchange server in my list? SpriteBackup seems dangerous to me...
AAAHHH, i tested several new roms. WM6.1 and WM6.5
All are not working with exchange. Always the same error.
Which WM 6.1 or WM6.5 ROM ist working with the Trinity and Exchange?
hi, im using osavioro's [ROM][WWE] Windows Mobile 6.1 5.2.20270.1.3.1 Ver. 0.4.7.5 at the moment, active sync works perfect with our exchange 2007 over
wifi, gprs. however direct push need gprs to work.
tried several other 6.1 and 6.0 roms and they also worked as long as you have a valid certificate on the server, i fortunate never had any trouble with this.
(when i finaly realized i needed a valid certificate, not self signed)
we have many other devices syncing to the same server as well, iphones3g, wm5, wm6, 6.1. sony ericssons phones (xperia) etc..

new htc devices with origanal wm 6.1 are all working fine with the same server and the same certificate. Only the self cooking rom WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 doesn't work. WM 6 Roms are running.
Hi,
Has anyone found a WM6.1 cooked ROM that works around this problem yet? My organisation upgraded to Exchange 2007 and I had to downgrade back to a stock WM5 ROM to keep being able to sync...
I don't know exactly what are the "Enterprise components" that someone mentioned, but is it that difficult to cook ROM versions that keep these in place?
Thanks in advance!
