SD Card & WM6 ROM Procedure Question(s) - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi All,
I looked, but did not see the answers for this. I have not used the SD card update procedure before, although it seemed to work fine on my Axim X50v. Can someone tell me:
1. When I do a hard reset in the future, do I follow the SD card procedure or the normal steps?
2. Is it okay for me to erase the ROM files from my SD card or should I leave them alone?
3. My machine is working perfectly, ay least to my needs, on the WM6 A03 ROM. However, it freezes when trying to read the CD card. Is this representative the filesys problem you have been discussing here?
TIA for your help and thanks to those who worked so hard to create/revamp this program.
John

Upgrade to 8gb card

Guess the answer is somewhere, perhaps someone can point me in the right direction, how do you upgrade an Orbit to take an 8gb memory card? Thanks.
Get the SDHC patch, install it, soft reset and then insert the card. If you use the search function or look through the first two or three pages of the Artemis sub-forums you'll notice that you are not the first that asked this question
Flashed mine with Meschle Touch flash and bought an 8 GB Sandisk microSD, working perfectly.
I bought a Sandisk 8gb MICROSDHC card for my phone but the phone refuses to work with it. I've tried flasing my Orbit today which is on WM5 btw with the SDHC_WM6WM5.zip from this web-site but I'm having no luck. I can run the two cab files which look like there doing something, I then reboot the phone but still the phone does not see the memory card. The Windows folder within the SDHC_WM6WM5.zip has two files in there one called sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll. According the the txt file within the zip file I am supposed to extract both the files to my windows directory on the main memory of the phone but unfortunately I cannot because on one of the files the SDBUS.DLL it complains of it being used by the system. I've tried reboots on the phone, factory defaulted it back, safe mode (kicking it), but still no joy.
PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP!!
Use this file: http://members.cable24.at/immogroup/HTC-P3300/SDHC-Artemis.cab and then soft reset.
If you ever upgrade your firmware be sure to take out the SDHC card - otherwise it won't even go to bootloader correctly.
Thanks for the link Registerme it's all sorted now.

Thanks very much for this I can now put my tunes on the phone without removing my maps and charts

flashing hermes on vista | wceusbsh.inf driver for wmdc not working

Hi everybody,
was just trying to flash my Hermes.
I was following this guide, and trying to install the supplied drivers for vista_x32.
For some strange reason, vista claims, that this driver is not a proper vista driver, and cancels the install process.
Does anybody know what might be the reason for this? Maybe I need a newer driver?
Is there any other way around? And no, I won't install xp just for updating my Hermes.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

Why don't flash from an SD card (link in signature)? After tweaking drivers with no success to run on Vista x64, I just always recomment it.
thx for your reply, but that won't work, since I installed loads of progs on the sd-card, so it won't let me delete the cards content. And I don't have any external card reader.
So I guess, I will need to solve this driver issue somehow.
Maybe somebody can tell me if it worked on their Vista Machine using Mr Vanx guide.
it used to work although it s way easier for me to move to the next comp in the room (which is running xp) and flash the rom from it
bother some friends to let you use his comp since the whole thing wont take longer than 20 mins
So what about the programs on SD card?
Move them off to your computer first, move ROM image to SD card, flash, move programs back.
tried doing that. after emtying my sd-card, and moving pays rom over to the card.
The pays rom was named RUU_signed.nbh, so I renamed it to HERMIMG.nbh
i rebooted to the bootloader, as described in the tutorial. Nothing happened though.
No clue why it did not work.
Quite annoying.
regards, t.
Did you format the card to FAT32?

Newbie question about installing Artemis Touch 4.01

Hi there,I have an xda orbit and would like to install Artemis Touch 4.01. I have recently updated from wm5 to wm6. I have a 2gb micro sd card and I'm getting a little confused about the first step in the installation process "1. Copy SDConfig.txt to root of storage card (omit this step if you have a SDHC card)" Is this a path on my phone? And if so how and where do i locate it in my directory to copy it to my micro sd card? Also do I then remove the micro sd card as suggested in the second step (as I dont believe my sd card is of the sdhc type)? And finally I havent previously cid unlocked my device, does step one for process three unlock my device such as the process here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403? Sorry for my newbie questions but any help would be much appreciated and hopefully make it clear for any others that may be confused!
Many Thanks!

As I understand it, SDConfig.txt is used for user customisation i.e. if you want some programs installed at the end of the flashing process (If I'm mistaken then I'm sure someone will correct me). I've flashed my device without this and all is well.
Step 1 does indeed do the CID unlocking. Once you device reboot after this process watch the screen to ensure SPL is 1.11.... If that is the case go to step 2.
Also, remember to back up everything you need to keep with PPCPimBackup or something because you will lose everything from main memory.
Finally, you don't need to remove the 2Gig card,

X50v wm3 update to WM6- Help

I would like to update my X50V wm2003 to WM6. I follow the instruction in here, but cannot go through it say the no image found or unsuite image found, update failed. If anyone who has updated his x50v before, would you please show my the ways step by step for me to follow in here. Many thanks in advance.
i think it need to upgrade to wm5 1st. but i highly suggest u stay the wm2003! it's perfect for x50v. x50v w/ wm6 has many bug, and it can't read the SD card sometimes.
Hi,
Back up your sd card, erase the contents, format the the card for fat32.
Put the rom files in the root directory of your card.
put the card into your pda.
follow the instructions posted elsewhere and you should be fine.
Sometimes there are issues with the rom files being read if you have other files on the card.
I did this each time I flashed my pda and no issues here.

Mapking after ROM upgrade
Hi, I know your problem very well.
The solution is :
1. Make a backup of your sd card contents.
2. Reformat your sd card and reinstall your mapking.
3. Transfer back your sd card content from backup.
You must do this every time you upgrade your ROM.
Mapking can install only once in any sd card.
The only way to make it able to install and work again is to make the sd card "NEW" again by reformating it.
Thanks for your help.
But I upgraded my ROM many times already, I just install again everytime, and it running with no problem.
Anyway, than you very much!
I will test it NOW!
I test almost two days for this problem!

I presume there is a file on your sd card that it is finding and locking up on. Short from deleting files one by one and trying to find the problem is all I can suggest, sorry.

Mapking after ROM upgrade
Hi,
I have also tried all that you have said.
I am also using Mapking.
My experience is exactly same as yours, reformat and reinstall will solve it for sure.
I have upgraded my ROM about 6 - 7 times already and it's allways the same problem.
Now I am on Dutty's V3.
Reformat and reinstall ... you will not be disappointed.
Cheers
