can someone point me in the right direction of how to get my extended rom to load after all these updates.. i have a custom ext. rom and i cant get it to auto update after a OS only rom upgrade
noone knows?

Sorry wrong link, I was too fast in reading your post
Usually the autorun should run after a hardreset.
Try to unhide your extrom and start the autorun manually.
i have been trying that with the black 2.5 but it doesnt work
ill try it with a different rom
Hi
I have been using WM devices for a long time but have never actually changed my ROM before. However, I have decided that it is time to start!!! and I want to change to teh latest HTC Rom for my Diamond (Orange UK). I have read the various threads on this forum, but before I start would like confirmation that the process I should follow is as follows.
For info, I have decided to use the official 1.93 HTC ROM (I know that some of the swift/dutty ROMS appear better - but I think I would prefer to stick with an official ROM for my 1st time!!)
1. Download Hard SPL, ROM and Radio files
2. Backup data etc (settings also?) using sprite backup
3. Install Hard SPL
4. Install ROM
5. Install Radio
6. Use HTC settings tool to restore settings
7. Re-install data using Sprite backup
In case this goes wrong..... is there a version of the stock Orange ROM anywhere that I can always re-install?
Also, 1 last question..... given that my Orange Diamond has an HTC ROM (no customisation)..... am I right to assume that once I have updated the ROM I will not lose anything (e.g. HTC apps/Opera etc) from my original ROM??
Thanks very much for your help
Rossy
You don't really need to update your radio if your handset is working fine.
You WILL need to reinstall your additional apps after a flash.
double post
7. and you might get big problem if you made a backup from a stock rom and put into a cooked rom, the registry get very messy. And vice versa if you made a backup from cooked rom and use that backup in a stock rom. So I adwise to make a backup..sure, but use it only with that rom you made the backup from!

By additional apps do you just mean non HTC things like TomTom etc
I assume Opera/google maps etc will be included with the HTC ROM?
Salut Rossy,
I'm thinking about doing the same, meaning flash my Orange Diamond with the latest official french ROM from HTC.
Actually Lommag made a dump of the Orange ROM here :

I didn't try it yet but let me know how things goes for you.
Good luck.
Hi all, a question to anyone who may know the answer.
I have tried searching & reading but have only ended up twisting up my brain!
Ok, i have a touch diamond with Olinex unsigned 1.37 Hard SPL
I want to flash it with the newest HTC Europe stock rom but when i try to flash it, it starts and continues all the way to 100%, before giving me a error 270 - corrupted file image..
Tried downloading the rom again, different usb ports & pretty much everything else i can think of, to the point now that i just can't think of any other possible ways of doing it.
Can anyone help me out... pleeeeeeeease!
Sorry no quick answer as it soundsfrom your breif description like you are doing everything right...
What Radio and Rom are you on currently as this might give us some more clues as to what might be causing the issue?
I can freely flash between almost any rom that takes my fancy, just today i have flashed through aztor 2.0, duttys newest, vics 3.4, and the ultimate wwe.. trying to find a solution!
I can flash whatever radio i want, again with no issues. Maybe the links i have for the rom are corrupt? Like i said i've downloaded it twice, but still get that error after 100% completion.

You need to flash the newest stock rom using the internal storage method. Details are on the thread for the stock 2.03 rom
THe Internal Method is always the starting point....if that is not it then,
Yeah, when the error speaks about corruption, this generally means that there was a incompatibility issue. I've seen this problem and I don't recall if the incompatibility was the Hard SPL related or not. My suspicion is that it is .....

THe original 2.03 roms don't work on hard spl when used through the PC and give the error at the end on 100%.
Cooked versions flash succesfully normal ways however the original version will work properly via the internal storage method as discovered on the original 2.03 thread
I solved it by flasing the Olipro 1.93 hard SPL after flashing the stock 2.0 ROM.
As by everyone I had a corruption message on the screen after the 100% of flashing... So just flash Olipro 1,.93 over it and the diamond will startup with the new 2.03 ROM
just a quick question for a stupid noob, ive flashed my diamond to Gen.Y TouchFlo3Dv2.1 VGA and im loving it, its taken a while but ive got it just how i want now, if i change the radio will i have to set up all my apps again
no.....
when i run the program its a ruu and i thought that would wipe all my apps and i would have to re install my apps, but your saying no, all my programs will stay and all the reg tweaks ive made will stay untouched .
It will wipe programs from your "phone" memory, not from the "internal" memory I think. But I think that the old ones will not be visible. Settings after flashing new rom will be removed. That's my oppinion
Radio...
Flashing a radio won't touch any of your programs or settings... it's in a different part of the ROM
Flashing a Radio..

Hi Bazz..
What Benko said, short but sweet , is absolutely right.. Just use the CustomRUU.exe (flashing utility) and the radio file you want and flash as is (I have HardSPL on my phone allowing me to flash anything).. I applied the same Gen2.1 ROM (my compliments to Yozgatg for a great ROM ) not more than a week ago, tried the Radio 1.13.25.24 and then decided to go back to 1.15.25.14 (search on forums and you'll find it). I've been using that Radio for a good number or months and it's pretty reliable and good on battery (for HTC Diamond) so you might want to have a look and see what others have said about it
BTW - I flashed it as is and didn't have to re-enter any settings at all and my phone booted as normal after. If you sync your phone with your desktop PC make sure you get a sync BEFORE you upgrade just in case as it's better to be safe but like grahamkdt said I doubt you'll need it.
Yeah SRY, I ment the full rom flashing
So, I flashed my frist rom back in April. I tried out the Energy Rom. Last night I tried out the Core Cell Evo Rom. This Rom started to give me trouble so I flashed to the current energy rom. I'm still new to this, so I think I may have made some kind of mistake that I'm not aware of.
I noticed that when I flashed to the new energy rom, the splash screen for the cell rom came up. Now whenever I try to change the date and time on my phone, it kinda locks up. I think it still functions, but because the screen is frozen I can't see what to press so I end up doing a restart. Does anyone know how I can remove all the remnants of the cell rom? I thought when you flash a new rom, it's supposded to completely get rid of the old rom?
First run TASK29, then flash preffered ROM, after that do HARD RESET, and then it must be OK
Some ROMs include a new splash screen, and some don't. The EnergyROM series doesn't include a splash screen, so that's why you can still see the Core splash screen.
You can find utilities to replace this if you search for "splash screen".
Task29 won't affect this (i.e. it doesn't touch the splash screen, nor the radio either), but it does a good job at wiping the ROM area itself.
If the problem still happens after a task29 and a flash (i.e. the lockups), then you should post about this in the thread relevant to the ROM you're running.
Thanks for the info guys. I'm at work but I'll try out the task29 thing when I get home. I didn't post this in the energy rom thread because I didn't want to seem like I was directing my problem at that rom until I had a good idea of what was going on. If the problems still persist, then that's where my next post will be.
You can always reflash a stock ROM. That will give you the original spash screen back and then you can flash the custom ROM again.
Well, it wasn't the splash screen that I was worried about. Seeing the splash screen made me think that the core cell rom was conflicting with the energy rom. After hearing what steviewevie had to say on the subject, I know otherwise. I'll also install a custom splash screen later now that I know that can be done to.
You can go here for the steps to change the splash screen its actually pretty easy and fun.

Ok, I ran Task29 and I've installed the stock rom. Do I need to do another HardSPL before I can flash a new rom?
No you only need to perform the hardspl once which you have already done so from now on when changing roms just make sure to task 29 then flash new rom and thats it

Oh? I didn't use the stock rom that was put up on this site. I actually downloaded the Tilt 2 rom from the HTC site. So I thought that would have made some kind of difference.

HardSPL was designed to stay on the phone, even if you flash stock ROMs. You have to specifically run the relocker utility (from the HardSPL thread) if you want to go back to the stock SPL (e.g. for warranty return).
MOD Note
I'm moving your thread to General. This has nothing to do with ROM development. Custom ROM usage yes, but not Development.
