Installed Audio Manager on top of Schap's 4.01 lite ROM. However, it doesn't sort by track number, only tracks alphabetically. Was running vp3G's 3.62 before and it sorted by track number as I'd have expected. Any idea why or what I can do to change this?
Which version did you load? The latest versions do sort by track order.
I installed this version and it sorts by track number...woo hoo...been waiting for this for ages
Has anyone figured out a way to make Audio Manager play files other than .mp3? (AAC+ for example)
I tried this version but it does not give the right playlenght. The slidebar to move thrue a single mp3 file is totally filled and the time is wrong.
anybody else have this problem?
I don't have this problem. My MP3 files are encoded using VBR 192K. The slidebar and time is all fine.

Hi I would like to ask you guys if someone can help me to find a good media player for my XDA II? I would like to ask you also about real player and pocket DivX. When I'm intalling those two applications both ask me ->
would you like to replace the existing file "\Windows\gx.dll" modified on 9/25/2003 with this one? modified on 05/23/2002 then on both installation i pressed "No"(the options are Yes, No, Yes To All, No To All).
So what i would like to ask you is did i choose the right option, because I'm assuming that my existing file is better because it is newer than the file offered by both of the program?
PocketDivx: because when I tried to play the .mpg file under PocketDivx the picture was going very well but there is no sound and also at the end of the clip it makes my XDA II freezing so I have to do reset to be able to get out of that application.
Real Player: Both sound and and picture went well, it just don't play my .mpg file(the same file that I run under PocketDivx)
Is there any player available for XDA II that able to play all type of file?
Regards,
Willy
Try PocketMVP For mpg,mpeg,avi,mp3,ogg,........PocketTV offers extra options for mpeg files .............. 8) As for AMR files , Try Philips platform4 player

Also, it's worth having a look at Beta Player.

Thanks guys for your participation
Well... as I'm a new user of XDA II, could you please guide me how to install the last version of Beta player step by step? and could you please also let me know which file should i run as i'm going to use it in XDAII? because I've finished downloading 2 types of beta player the first one is "betaplayer.arm.cabs.STABLE.0.5" but it seems to me they are only bunch of ".cab" files without any setup.
and the second one is "betaplayer.setup.STABLE.0.5.exe"
The "betaplayer.*.cabs.*.zip" - Contains all the install .cab files for different types of device (arm,mips,sh3). No PC or ActiveSync needed. Cab file should be launched on the device itself.
The "betaplayer.setup.STABLE.0.5.exe"Standalone install for PocketPC or HPC devices. It should be launched on the PC when the PDA is connected via ActiveSync.
so which one should I choose to use(which one better?)?
Regards,
Willy
I would use the stable version otherwise you may have glitches with the beta release.

Just run the .exe. It contains the same Beta Player version as the .cab, just wrapped up in a PC installer. The .cab version is for PocketPC owners who have no PC (Apple users, for example).
Cheers,
Daniel
Thanks
Dear Forum,
Thanks for your help I appreaciate it so much. Keep on Rock'in Here and update this Topic if you have any updates or news about the multimedia player.
Best Regards,
Willy
is there anything like winamp for ppc 2003 w/ equalizer, etc.
http://www.winampaq.com/new/index.html
it's nice but only support mp3 so not wma and such
For mp3 and ogg...
have a look at MortPlayer. IMHO it's the best audio player available: skinable, easy to use and best of it: it's free!
For video I use the above mentioned beta player.
Greetings,
BGK
the best player is the betaplayer...
Also you may want to take a look at Pocket Music.. It supports MP3, WMA, OGG and more.. It also has 10-band equalizer, skin-changing ability, great-looking GUI and it's free! Below I include the PocketMusic app and some skins (including Winamp look-alike)
I forgot to mention (very sorry) for skin-changing ability you need the PMF Feature pack (shareware). It features additional features like skin-changing, saving, switching between EQ presets and more.. But I think PocketMusic alone is enough.. Anyway here's the file
Questions about BetaPlayer
Dear Forum,
Hi guys! I would like to ask you about the beta player. When the first time I installed the BetaPlayer there was a question about wether i would like to intall it to the main memory or storage card, I chose the storage card instead of the main memory because I thought by installing it to my storage memory it will save my main memory. I ran the program many times and it went well I'm satisfied with that program, until this afternoon I add couple of video clips into my storage card by ejecting my storage card from the XDAII and plug it into my laptop's SD slot then copy and paste it from my laptop(I did not use the crade to copy the video clips) to the storage card. When I'm done copying those files I clicked on savely remove device then I pulled out the SD card from my laptop then plug it into my XDAII then I tried run the Betaplayer but the XDAII is freezing with the processing sign or icon appear on the screen, I could not even turn the XDAII off so I had to unlplug the battery from the XDAII to turn it off. Turned the XDA back on and tried to run the betaplayer again but it didn't do anything(no reaction at all) so I decided to remove that program from the XDAII then I installed it again like the first time I did but it did not ask me again wether I want to install it to the main memory or to the storage device.
So what I would like to ask you guys is, Is it good idea to install program to the storage card instead of main memory?
Regards,
Willy
Problem with Beta Player0.5 stable
Dear Forum,
Hi all! I would like to ask you beta player user. I'm using it and i feel satisfy with that player, so far I just have one problem; sometimes it is freezing just like that, for instance this morning i played a long recorded sound with XDA II program(Album), but because the sound is too long so the XDA turned off automatically, so i turned it back on then check my battery(because i thought my battery was out at the first time), I figured out that my batter was fine so then I decided to run the beta player then i cliked the open file, then I clicked on the video clip file, suddenly the betaplayer automatically closed(the screen went to the main screen), so I tried to run it again from the tool bar of the XDA main screen but what happened was there was no reaction at all, just like nothing clicked(I've tried many times but the result still the same-no reaction at all, the betaplayer did not run at all). I checked on the running program list and did not find beta player on that list. So I had to do the soft reset(I cliked the reset button on the bottom of the PDA) to be able to run it back again. this problem has happened about 3 times since the first time I started to use this program(last thursday). and i also tried to run a video file but the beta player said that "the atimageon is out of memory please try again later or run it with a different application."
Could anyone here help me to tell what is wrong with it? or did I do anything wrong to the beta player?
my beta player is 0.5 stable version
regards,
Willy

mortplayer is the best
Best musicplayer without any doubt is Mortplayer.
Skinnable, EQ, Reverb, extra bass, echo, you name it.
Astonishing sound quality with my Senheiser MX 300 headphones, is soldered to my standard XDA 2 headset.
Anyone figure out a way to get HTC Audio Manager to recognize the correct order in which to play songs in an album based on ID3 tag info? It seems that unless you manually add the track number to the beginning of each song title that HTC Audio Manager just plays songs in alphabetical order.
Does this annoy anyone other than me? Is there a way to change this?
That problem alone keeps me from using an otherwise beautiful audio player. AD2P and AVCRP working great. A preamp control would be nice too.
Same problem for me! If somebody has a solution, I would be happy!
I am guessing that there is no solution to this is there?
Seems like a dreadful oversite as otherwise it is a great piece of software!!
The thing which it makes it seem particularly odd is that the id3 tag's Title is given during playback, not the filename. If it can read the title surely it could get the track number!
I too am disappointed that this program cant recognize the correct order It really makes the program useless, unless its supposed to just be used for a randomized list.
I recommend GSPlayer though.. it's simple, doesnt have a huge memory footprint, and it supports playlists like a beauty
Hi All,
I have TCPMP V0.72 (And 0.71) and sucessfully streamed MPG video and MP3 audio from my NAS box. However any AVI (No matter what codec has compressed it) just will not play..... it seems to load the ile correctly and everything looks ready to go but when you press play it just freezes...
I have tried this on WM5 Ultimate and WM6 Beautiful (Thanks KDS ) and they both seem to show this feature.
Any ideas?
Now, thats odd. I just watched an avi file compressed with divx codec(with mp3 audio stream) with TCPMP provided in V.72.
What codec are you using?
Hi KDS,
The files are compressed with random codecs the main ones i am trying are based on Core ASP (The compression was done on my linux box). The phone has all the codecs i could find installed
AAC
FFMPEG
FLAC
AC3 (audio only i think)
speex (no idea)
Vorbis (i assume for ogg audio)
I just tried an AVI with no compression and it worked (except for stuttering caused by the data rate)
I am new to the universal ROM cooking world. I think it used to work although very choppy when i tried a while ago..... (EDIT probably over a year On the standard Vodafone UK install and a previos version of TCPMP (no idea what versions though)
Gotcha!
I'd not installed any of those plugins to avoid extra space inside the ROM.
Just put the given below files inside the windows folder and try watching your videos/movies again.
Do tell me if they worked for you
Hi KDS,
Just tried a hard reset then installed TCPMP 0.72RC1 then copied the suggested files to the folder.
Then i used netuse to lock onto the local file and then opened a file in TCPMP.
Once again everything looks ok until i press play and nothing happens. It then freezes me out if i try and open another file.... These files open and play normally if they are on the SD card.
TO recap everything is fine until i try to load a compressed AVI (I managed to see an uncompressed one) Are these read or transmitted in a different way?
There are so many different things i could change but i would be stabbing in the dark not knowing what the issues are, should i look at something other than the universal to make this work (lan storage unit firmware etc,)
Any guidance would be appreciated as this is the final hurdle to getting the universal to be the centre point for my home entertainment system
You tried the files in abovementioned post?
Hi KDS,
Yes i did try but got nothing.
It looks like;
It is not TCPMP streaming over the network as this works (with uncompressed files)
It is not Compressed files as they play from the SD card properly.
It is not the version of WM5 vs WM6 or any OS related feature as in all the different roms i have tried it fails and works in the same way.
My final attempt tonight is to stream from a completely differnt source (a PC based SAMBA share) hopefully this will work and will be at least able to watch recorded TV and the most recently converted video.
Seems i have a strange one here....thanks for the help though
KDS would you think there would be any merit in changing the firmware on the wireless router?
I just proved everything works with a PC based SAMBA share. (through the wireless router)
So it leaves only the NAS box left to blame....i really wanted to have my media stored in this fashion as it means i do not need to have a PC on all the time.
Anyway thanks for a very good site, forum and members... and now i have my Univeral and Palm treo v750 on WM^ i am sure i will stick around. and get well and truely besotted with all things HTC.....
Til next time
@KDS Thanks for trying it is nice to have sucjh direct contact to a person in the know.
Glad that the things worked for you!

just wonder how to stream using TCPMP?
btw, is there any way to browse the list of video files.
I downloaded some ringtones as mp3 or mp4 but no sound when selected as ringtones. It works if I select it to play in windows media player.
I have 3VO series rom on WM6.5.
check your settings, and make sure you have the ringer on loud and your system all the way up on the slide. hopefully this works.
i was using ringtones downloaded from myxer and they were in mp3d format and would never work. so now i just cut my own songs and make my own shortened mp3's and they work fine everytime.
check the file format on your computer and see what they are.
ignore what i said earlier it is invalid. my problem stemmed from the newest 3vo rom. dont know how to work it out.

Are the files you are trying to use high-quality, or better quality? If so, then try to use ones of lesser quality, since you don't need a HQ sound coming from your cell phone on RING...chances are that loading up that sound (if it is of a higher quality) takes up a decent amount of processing power/RAM, that at one point it just can't process the ring anymore.
I am using the 3vo 2.5 as well...if you want to send me the file, i can see if i figure out what the problem is...(you can email me it, just click my name and send me an email)
so i have my songs in the following sdcard\my documents\music\tracks
when i get the details for it using astro, it says 1406 files (all mp3)
but in the music player it only shows 1353????
what happened to those 53 tracks lol!!!?!?!?!?!
anybody else getting this?
Wow, seems kinda weird? I have a few things that might work:
1) Use SDRescan to try and force an update of your media database (free app from the market)
2) If that doesn't work, I'd suggest going into clockworkmod recovery and running "Fix Permissions" in the "advanced" submenu (usually gives the HTC sense backend the priveliges needed to do some things)
Thanks I'm trying the re scan app now.
Also could it be those 50 odd mp3 files have a unsupported type of encoding or something? (sorry, I'm bit of a noob)

i had a similar problem too. my music tracks started playing several tracks down from the top of the list, it just missed tracks out. my music would also not play if i used the stock eq on the bass booster setting.

Try flashing this 2.1 Music.apk and see that helps.
This .zip file has Dolby and Surround Sound ( SRS )
