hi ppl,
after the upgrade from 2003 to WM5, everything is ok but BA wont sync any more. It used to work fine with 2003, I bring it to my friend where we patched it, we didnt sync it there but his pc obviusly saw BA during the patching process.... When I brought it home my PC couldnt sync with BA any more.
When I put the BA in the cradly PC found it and let me explore the BA thru the active sync just like before but after that it report that he can not sync and that I recconect the device, after the reconnecting - same story. Exploring works ok all the time but syncing dont.
Im suspicious about the fact that PC didnt asked me about the new device after the wm5 patch and didnt asked me about the type of the partnership (you know guest and normal)...
Used to try without the firewall, didnt helped, and didnt know how to manage to connect it and sync it via the BT...
Any ideas regarding the syncing via the USB or if someone can me please explain BT sync process...
Can I sync it with the WIFI ad hoc wifi network ? how please ? That could help too maybe.
PC OS is XP SP2
Best regards !
try this...
make sure you have updated your activesync to the recent version. mine is 4.5
1. remove your BA from the cradle.
2. delete your mobile device profile in activesync.
(File-> Delete Mobile Device)
3. place your BA in the cradle
4. re-setup your mobile device.
ty active sync on the PC is 4.5...
tryed to reinstall it, deleted the folder, run registry cleaner, install it again and nothing changed...
Im suspicious that the problem is in BA, when I run active sync there it reports on some kind of info screen "to sync with the desktop computer, install Activesync on your computer and then connect this device. If your company support syncing directly with its exchange server blah blah"... Never saw this screen in the active sync on BA before...
It looked like PCs active sync before as far as I remember....
used to try to connect it with the BT, after the pairing with the PC BA shows the screen with the services that I want to use for that BT connection but the list is empty... Anyway they are paired in that moment (passkey passed)... When I click on the connect with the BT in the active sync on the BA it report that theres no BT paired devices in that moment and that I can pair if I want, I chooce PC on the next screen again but nothing happens...
sorry to hear that.
i guess if you're using BT to sync i cant help you with that.
i know there's a topic here somewhere about the BT Stack incompatibilities.
let's hope someone who had your error find his way into reading this.

tragedy: life's a windows[tm] bliss... till one bug shows up and eats up your lifespan with stress in bugbusting.
looks like that PC cant read settings of the BA coz when syncing begins, PC report that he is retrieving settings but moment after that he report sync can not be completed succesfully....
Like theres some firewall in the BA which prevents pc from the reading of the settings.
Problem is solved, BA is upgraded to WM6.
always glad to hear someone has solved a problem.
even if my posts didnt helped a bit. ahaha...

Dear All
Please help: I have an O2 XDA IIs which MS Activesync 4.1 does not detect, despite all my efforts during the last few days (I also have an old iPAQ 1940 which Activesync detects fine).
The XDA is from work, so could it be that it is somehow locked, and if so, how can I unlock it?
Also, as an alternative, can I sync the XDA with my PC via Bluetooth through the iPAQ's?
Any ideas will be gratefully received!
Many thanks in advance,
L
Hi there,
I've Looked through hundreds of forums and although I have seem similiar I haven't found a resolution to my exact problem.
Due to the fact that I've been trying to resolve this issue on and off all day it's probably something really simple...
HISTORY
PDA
Was running WM2003SE on a Xda IIS.
PC
ActiveSync 3.8 on Laptop with Windows 2000 SP4 and all updates. Laptop on a home LAN with router. No firewall software and have since removed all Spyware removal software, (after doing one last scan).
My Task \ Issue \ Problem
I wanted to to the upgrade to WM2005 and followed all the usual procedures. The one mistake I may have made was to install the very very latest 4.1 Activesync without removing 3.8. However at this stage my XDA was still on 2003SE and synced perfectly with 4.1 Activesync.
I performed the upgrade to WM2005 including patches and as far as the XDA is concerned everything appears to be working.
Activesync however doesn't work. Via the USB cradle Windows 2000 detected a device and under device properties it's was listed as Generic RNDIS, it's now listed as a windows mobile based-device. I don't have an entry in my network connections, although I think this only happens with Windows XP. I've tried uninstalling Activesync, removing the rapi.dll file, reinstalling etc, I even did the former and removed entries within the registry and running a registry fixer but to no avail.
I then decided the Bluetooth route but cannot sync via this method either. I can actually succesfully connect from PC to XDA and vice versa but cannot use these connections for Activesync.
I have another Hard Drive for this Laptop which I use for testing. I can simply shut down, swap drives and boot again to another build. The other build is also Windows 2000 with SP4 and pretty much nothing else. I've installed Activesync 4.1 onto this machine, plugged in the cradle and everything works fine.
So..... I know the XDA is fine, The cradle's okay and Activesync 4.1 actually works with my XDA OS. The problem is it doesn't work on one particular build. I believe this is actually a Activesync issue but due to some form of conflict with my build. It's currently out of the question for me to rebuild so my mission is to find out what's conflicting.
Just to summarise though..... Activesync 4.1 was working fine, I upgraded XDA to WM2003 to WM2005 and then it stopped. The other harddisk proves that Activesync does actually work with my XDA.
Pheeeew...... I hope somebody doesn't suggest lack of information....
So the reason for the post?? Well if anybody else is having frustrations, (which I'm sure I'm not the only one judging my my searching), your not alone.
I think a lot of people's problems have actually been resolved by the latest version of Activesync, (4.1), and other people have resolved by sorting out the main culprit of firewalls.
For me though I'll keep searching..... if any of you can think of any other ideas I can use for diagnosing the problem I'll appreciate it.
Thanks in advance..... sorry for the waffle.....
RESOLVED
Okay.... During further searching I noticed people mentioning VPN clients interfering.
I did have SecureRemote VPN installed which I use for work purposes.
I uninstalled SecureRemote but had to uninstall & re-install Activesync again. This time it's working.....
I will, (but not tonight), re-install the VPN client and see what happens. If Activesync countinues to work then, apart from being happy, it's worth making a note of.
If it doesn't work then I'll start to investigate why...... I know the new active sync does some form of IP connection but I cannot accept that it won't work with VPN's installed.
use windows XP (SP2) ...
first install the activesyn and then restart your computer.
then attach your pocket pc with usb cable.
and try to connect.
its works for me...
Hi,
I have a problem and maybe somebody can help.
Suddenly I stopped connecting with activesync.
When I connect my BA it automaticaly connects as Guest, but don't allow me to do anything. I cannot explore the BA, install things, syncronize, etc ...
My BA has WM5 and I tryed with AS4 and AS4.1 and both on my desktop and laptop. I have the same problem in both computers.
After I installed WM5 I could syncronise and everything. Just some weeks ago this happened.
BTW, sorry for my english
Thanks in advanced,
PSH
No ideas ???
have you tried deleting all the partnerships in active synch?
Then I would kill active synch process ( wcescomm.exe) and restart active synch and let it discover the phone as if it was the first time it had seen it.
Hopefully it should set up a new partnership (not as a guest) and that should fix it.
Ya. I've done that before with no luck.
More ideas ?
how are u connecting to the device? in the cradle or over BT or Wifi?
In the cradle. Over Wifi is not possible under WM5.
I saw in the foruns somebody saying that he had a similar problem and turned out to be the contacts corrupted, but did not say how he solved it.
I send him a pm, but with no answer.
How can we clear the contacts files ? Only with a hard reset ?
Hello all,
You've got a nice forum here, that I stumbled upon yesterday... and already I've got a little problem , where I hope you can help me with. (I've searched the forum already in the Artemis section, but didn't find anything appropriate to help me, so if I missed a solution for my little problem, I'm sorry for posting it again)
Here I go:
Since today my activsync won't syncronize with my HTC P3300 anymore.
There is a connection, but no syncronisation (I mean I can explore the folders on my phone, but it never stops syncronizing). The Optionsmenu in Activsync is also blanked out, so I can't change any settings (anymore).
The problem occured when I changed some settings that I would like to sync also. (My contacts and emails where not set to be synced, so I activated them earlier today) after that the activsync windows on my desktop only shows that he is syncronizing, but never stops -> As I tried to figure out a solution, I removed my connections that were stored on my phone (I've got 2 'syncaccounts': work and home), and tried to create another 'syncaccount',...alas. Before that I tried to softreset my phone,... also had no effect.
My activsync status (on the phone) says that the server can not be reached, and that there might be a network problem (but why can I explore my folders on the phone then?). So I tried to fix (with the standard repair-option) my lan setting for the phone on my desktop, but that didn't do the trick either...
I really don't know what happenend, and I hope that the forum's wisdom can help me out here.
Thanks in advance,
Leniad
Never mind,
resolved it myself. Hardreset the PPC and installed activesync 4.5
Now it works again.
Still wonder what caused the problem?
Leniad.
Hello, been using custel 2.5 for a while now, probably the day after it came out. Now I need to use internet sharing adn I`m not able to do it thru BT. When I pair my device I can do activesync just fine, but on Vistas BT manager (BT Devices) its not showing the dial-up device. This is strange it works fine with the USB connection, but I really need the BT. Please help. Thanks in advance.
BTW it used to work with wizard with WM6. Thanks
its not a dail up service to start off with its a PAN. second what BT stack are you using? I had the broadcomm stack first and that wouldnt work so i had to switch to the native MS stack and its works fine. If you know how to edit the bt.inf file on your vista machine that will install the MS stack instead of the other stack.

I noticed the speed decrease over PAN compared to the USB cable as well. I get way more fluctuations over BT. I am sticking to the USB but it is a nice fallback. Also, for me, Internet Sharing is a night and day difference over dial-up networking/modem driver. It is so easy. This feature is a WM6 gem!

Bluetooth is severely limited in Terms of speed, especially if you're not using Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

vista 64 bit
Hey Guys!
My first post with such a stupid problem:
i'm trying to connect to internet with vista 64bit using my hermes over usb. but it doesnt seem to work.
Until last week i had win xp sp3 on my pc and the internet sharing option in hermes worked without any problems. Now with Vista Ultimate 64 bit i can connect the phone to pc, sync works perfect.
when i start internet sharing, phone builds up a GPRS connection but after 2-3 sec it disconnects the data connection and active sync authentication starts with vista.
In vista i cant find any modem connection in network settings. The only thing i found was in device manager when phone is connected to pc (HTC USB Modem)
here is my spec :
- windows vista ultimate 64bit
- mobile device center 6.1
- Framework etc. is installed
my Hermes:
- HTC_HERMES_S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_V3_WWE_02.10.2008
- SPL 2.10 olipro
- radio ver 1.54.30.10
i have re-installed the drivers and device center several times without success.
What the hell i forgot or what i'm doing wrong...
Are there any tools or drivers i should use?
My friend has a vista 32 bit system. with his pc its no prob...some rndis drivers installed itself and we began to surf.
But in my vista 64, i missed this rndis driver installation......
Please can someone help me, i'm so confused...
Try checking your firewall... maybe disable it to test and see if it works temporarily.
Alright, thank you i'll try it on monday when i'm in office...
Ive no i-net there so i must be prepared, so are there any specific drivers or something i need to download? Or is device center enough?
Close Firewall doesnt really work...
Yesterday, i had a connection for one time...
In Device Manager, there was a "Remote ndis based Internet sharing device"
and internet worked...Today nothing works...
What have I to do in Vista? Should I deactivate some processes like wcescomm.exe? When I do this, It automatically restarts when Internet Sharing connection breaks down.
Could someone explain step by step how to get Internet Sharing work (Steps, Tools, Programs, Drivers)?!?
Thanks guys!
Same Problem
I am having the same exact problem.....
I HAD windows xp sp2 and everything worked fine once activesync was installed.....
I HAVE windows vista 64 bit and the device under the device manages show that its not working... it instals the RNDIS (whatever) drivers but dose not work...
I TRYed windows vista 32 bit, everything works fine..... the device conects with no problems...
SO the problem is that its VISTA 64bit so what would be causing this ???
btw my phone is a WM6 8525 from ATT with Internet Sharing
I need the internet sharing option when im at HomeHome and not at school, so im thinking about taking my laptop back to office depot!
So glad im not alone...
In meantime, in arranged with the prob... I think no one knows a solution...
hi again i have a problem with the phone.I upgraded the xda in win2006 but the active sync doesnt make a connection with the device everytime i try to connect it.i have active sync 4,5 and this version worked fine with my previous phone xda exec .so whats the problem in this? and do i need to install another version of active sync ?4,2 or something?thanks
problem with ActiveSync
I have pretty much the same problem, only mine is something like this: If I connect the BA to the PC first time, it's working, but if I disconnect it and try do plug it in again, it's not seeing my device. So sometimes I have to restart so that my active sync works again. I'm almost sure that my problem is because of the operating system on the pc witch is not in a very good shape.
ok any solutions what should i do?? the problem is still on active sync cant make a connection.

I have learned that I must turn off the BA between sync attempts. If I push the power button, wait a couple seconds then push it again and place in the cradle. Ever since I started doing it this way I get no timeouts/can't connects.

WM6 requires activsync 4.5 or higher so downgrading will not help. Have you ever been able to sync? Is this the same computer/activsync setup you used to upgrade the BA? One thing I have heard that people have done that has helped is to completely uninstall activsync, reboot the computer, then re-install activsync. Windows does strange things so it may very well help.
ActiveSync BOOSTER
Is there a way to boost up speed of Sync
Is there a any software or Cab file for it ?
Also want to know after we sync Phone
It keeps repeating to sync, is there a way to stop it ?
With removing the phone
Please Help
I cannot sync my calendar or inbox - properly. Some things sync others don't am not to sure why.
I installed xplodes latest wm2006, .NET 3.5 - all seems fine except for the syncing.
I uninstalled activesync 4.5, re-installed 4.2, then uninstalled ti and re-installed 4.5.
I tried syncing ONLY the contacts, then added the calender in options. (suggested in another post)
Still it is NOT WORKING - i really need the sync to work if I am too keep wm2006 ?
any other suggestions ? (help!)
