Again on htc s620 and voip(internet calling) - HTC Excalibur

Good morning to all, my name is Fabio, writing from south of Italy, so beg pardon for my bad english.
I own ( very proud of it) an HTC S 620 , aka excalibur.
It is free telephone, not branded with any operator, is original HTC buyed in Italy, no simlock, no operator lock.
Has windows mobile 6 standard, sist op. CE 5.2.1238 build 177745.0.2.3
radio 4.1.13.44_02.94.90
and rom version 1.27.408.1
Well, I've installed FRING that is a voip utility and it runs good, the only known problemas are : the audio coming out from external speaker and a big delay between ringing and effective hang on.
Doing a google search I found that htc s620 and wm6 can handle voip aka internet calling, so I searchead a lot and found the wm6voipcab and some other stuffs as sip_tool.
I installed wm6voip.cab, but in my start menu doesn't appears any icon as INTERNET CALLING and the siptools crashes every time I run it.
I assumed that I need , might be , a different rom version that manages internet calling icon, e.g. the dash version.
Could be some one so kind to point me in the right direction STEP BY STEP to have internet calling over wifi on my htc?
I even found the way to flash rom into phone, but which one is needed and where to obtain it ?
All others problems related to ports and stun, etc.etc doesn't interest me at this moment, I just would have the internet calling icon in my start menu .
I searched a lot before posting, have found many items and good suggestions quite on every thing, but (me dumb) , not yet understood how to put internet calling on my device.
So many thanks in advance.
Fabio

p.s.
in my windows I have those:
* ipdialplan.xml
* dnsapi.dll
* voipphonecanvas.dll
* rtcdll.dll
what I haven't is internet calling plugin in my home
Fabio

Actually solved with a hard reset and re-installing wm6voip.cab
and actually moving the internet call plugin into my home.

fabiobassa, how did you get voip working on your s620 ? What is the internet call plugin ?

Voip package available?

I'm not sure but I read through these threads:

Is there a seperate WM6 VOIP cab available somewhere? I don't see the suggested files, so I assume that I don't have it on my WWE WM6 rom.

Well, as you may have noticed I've found those threads, but I saw that the most of the thread is regarding HERMES.
I was wondering if anyone with an Artemis has been able to turn on VOIP (native voip)
I did manage to install the package as mentioned in the threads above, as well as put in the right config files. Also, the "Internet Calling: Available" today plugin is correctly displayed. However, I cannot switch dial pads and I don't get the correct status (connected).
Same problem here
Setup was done with Sip Config Tool 2.0.1
The plugin is configured : "Always, if available"
When connected by wlan or activesync the plugin displays : "Kein Empfang"
Disconnected from network displays : "Available"
Hopefully someone can help me
Guys I've got it working just fine on an xda orbit. There does seem to be a little bug though and that is when it's says "Searching" and "Available" on the today screen. Available actually means searching and searching means available
When searching is displayed, click on it in the today screen and you might notice a slight change in the signal which means it has switched to voip rather than gsm. Go to the phone screen and you'll see that the network has changed to your voip provider and any call you make will be routed through them.
I have downloaded sjphone yesterday and configured it to use my sip voip provider and it works brilliantly. The sound quality in sjphone is absolutely brilliant compared to the native voip, you should try it.
Finally it's working...
I tried to deinstall the plugin and after prompting an error it worked
The homescreen plug signals "searching" but as you said before it means "availabe". There are still a couple of things:
1) no incomming calls... i can't find the stun settings
2) +4930xxxxxx format doesn't work, i've to type 030xxxx
3) doesn't work after standby
Which version of sjphone are you using? There seems to be nothing available for wm 6
Hi BlueD,
I'm glad it's working for you. I tested incoming calls and that worked nicely as well without configuring any stun. The voip I used were sipgate and callcentric.
There's a post somewhere on one of the big voip threads and the guys managed to customize the dialing plans so that you can dial without using the international format. Do a quick search on voip dialing plan and you should find it somewhere.
Well obviously it doesn't cause the wifi disconnects, hence making it only useful for dialing out rather than receiving calls, except ofcourse if you want to leave the device on all the time, but that's not a very feasible solution.
The sjphone I downloaded was the one for v.1.60.303c Pocket PC 2003SE, it works nicely with excellent call quality. I also think you don't really need native voip capabilities to run that, which makes me think we could have had this on WM5 hmmm...
OK.. just fyi - i got a little bit more success in using the native VOIP solution. I had to flash from the WWE 6 to the BnB 2 ROM, then install the VOIP.cab and SipConfigTool. Now i can receive calls, but cannot place any... not sure why. Also, when i receive a call the sound is CRAP.. probably some codec issue here.
What type of internet connection have you?
Have you open ports on your router necessary for SIP, inbound and out?

Yep I did. I got this confirmed by testing it with a softphone on my PC, which works great (same voip provider etc).

o2 orbit - problem with telephone function

Hi,
i have a o2 orbit with the original german o2 wm6 firmware. Now i have the following problem:
After 1..5 day(s) the telephone function don't work. At this point nobody can call me and i can't call out. Also GPRS don't work. The problem is that the green LED is still blinking and the start display looks normal too.
I can turn off the telephone function. But it is not possible to restart the telephone function again.
After a soft-reset the telephone function works normal for the next time periode.
Does anybody has the same problem or a bugfix?
I've got the same problem since today...
Yesterday, may be it starts, because i was not able to connect Internet by GPRS. First, the problem was happened, when I tried to connect O2 Gprs APN internet, what is preconfigured or APN (Zugriffspunktname) surfo2, thats preferred to my datapack, only in roamingnet (TD1), then even in O2's own net.
then the Phone did not work.
I've got XDA Orbit with WM6.
I called O2's Data support for that problem, they said, I should try to do an Hardreset, after save up all my configuration and keep on watching, if it happens again.
For Hardreset, look at your Manual.
...I'll tell some more about, if it works or not in a few days, when I'm shure it will.
If not, I'll call O2 again (Must) and write theyre answer here.
After Hardreset, I've got no Problems until now!
May be, it was a Problem by trying Windows Live Messenger, because he is connected to the Internet whole time. Are GPRS and Calls at the same time possible? I think, normally it should!? but not shure..
The second thing, I've tried, was the Touch flo alpha...
it did not work on my device, so i made uninstall. After that, theese Problems did come.

Is it network, WM6, or the unit problem?

The problem is one of the most annoying ones you can have: it appears only from time to time and you don't know when and even when it does you don't notice.
Simply my phone is not accessible for others even it shows full range and so on. The message "...the phone is switched off...". This problem occurs in as far as I remember 3 releases of ROMS (full, vanillas, etc). The radio ROM was also changed. I don't remember having such issue in early WM6 or in original 2005.
Since it's not related directly to any of the releases I post it as a new thread.
Now I have 3 options:
1. Downgrade to 2005
2. Throw the unit through the window, wait until end of contract and buy an iPhone
3. Try to fight with T-Mobile UK - which is not really an option since I just recovered from fighting with Orange for over a month
Does any of you experienced such problem?
Any known issues with downgrading to 2005 like ISPL required before flashing original ROM?
Any suggestions?

Well, I got the answer - couldn't wait and did the downgrade using original ROM. If anyone interested it went without problems. No ISPL needed. Connected, fired-up the exe file and worked OK.
I'll see how about the availability problem.
Ok, seems that it's only me having the conversation ;o)
I apologize for the thread location - it doesn't seem to be related strictly to WM6 anymore as I...
...installed WM5 and did some tests:
(I have voice mail switched off)
- Call waiting enabled = no calls allowed when GPRS active
- Call waiting disabled = no calls when transferring data (large file) but received when no transfer
- Used W660i SonyEricsson handset - could receive calls regardless of GPRS activity
Rang T-Mobile tech support where they told me that this is network feature that when internet connection is active no calls are allowed and since my voicemail is turned off all callers get message that my phone is switched off. In the light of GPRS specification and my tests this is a bull****.
Now I'm asking anyone on UK T-Mobile Web'n'Walk and who wants to help - please do such test. Just try to call your number from different phone when opening a web-page.
This is pretty important to me - I need internet on the move and don't want to get rid of my MDA.
Thanks in advance!
Hi there,
I'm on T-Mobile UK too and I ran some tests myself and found that you are absolutely correct. When you transfer data you cannot receive phone calls.
I've got an O2 device with me I can do some more tests on and I'll also try and borrow my Wife's Samsung and test that too. I'll post my findings here.
Cheers
Alex
ok, i've just tested this on an O2 3G device and there was no problem, next to try a none windows mobile t-mobile phone.
seems this problem has been around for while and on other networks.
http://www.freenfo.net/mobile/archive/index-t-64022.html
ok, final test and conclusion.
I tested the same o2 phone as above but in a NON 3g area (i.e. gprs only) and found the exact same issue.
conclusion: this seems to affect all types of phone and multiple networks but only when using gprs NOT 3g.
I'm suprised we havent heard more about this problem.
cheers
Alex
Thank you Alex very much for your help.
I did some research on the topic last night and found the same info as guys in the thread your linked. It must be that T-Mobile UK operates in NOM-2, which allows to suspend GPRS session only when no data is transferred. When packets are transmitted the device doesn't 'see' incoming calls as it's 'busy' with dealing with the packets. NOM-1 is 'able' to encapsulate information about incoming call into one of the packets and the device is notified about - so it can react, suspend the transmission and pick up the call.
The fact is that our MDA/Artemis uses Class B of GPRS which doesn't allow simultaneous CDA/GPRS at the same time. Even if it can suspend active data transfer it is the network that has to support that feature.
What I must notice is that I had lot more problems wiht this when I was using WM6. It seems that there were some packets transmitted by the system or something. I had my mail set to check servers every 15 mins at the beginning but lately ony once an hour or two. Other soft that could transmit anything was Weather module from SPB or Touch. Now when I'm on WM5 and was checking the issue during loading a page I was unavailable but as soon as a page was completely loaded my phone was accessible back.
My surprise is that if the 'issue' seems to be quite normal and there is nothing to do about it why I couldn't find any info about it here. Doesn't it affect anyone of our community?
I may be wrong with the WM6 expirience but still. If WM6 works fine in that respect it must have happened that someone missed a call when browsing the net.
i hadnt noticed to be honest

Did you try ringing your phone when it was loading a long page or downloading a file?
TBH I think I've noticed it just as much on WM6 as I did (or didn't) on WM5, I think I put these odd voice mails turning up down to weird WM issues! Now I know the truth though.
Obv. there isn't a lot we can do about this and I'm not prepared to turn off my Windows Live Mail or my direct push. I think we just have to wait until our contracts are up for renewal and get over to a 3G device - I'm liking the look of the Touch Cruise myself, or the Touch Dual if I want that keyboard back and by the time my contract is up I think they should be on T-Mob UK.
does the same thing happen in Edge areas or as that rolls out will the problem disappear?
I'm not sure about how EDGE works but the problem affects GPRS rather than 3G due to the fact that GPRS and the incoming call are submitted alongside each other and 3G is seperate. I don't think t-mob uk have edge running yet so I can't test, perhpas some else can test for us.
Bro.. My first 3rd party ROM is the Touch 3.0.. and yes.. my connnection did go off once a while (no bars as well).. that was kinda irritating. I have to go to connection manager and toggle my data connection or something like that, before my phone will get the GSM signal.
And yea.. the original WM5 and WM6 have no such issues.. I wonder if this is because of the new radio version..

LG KS20 NAVIGATION-BUG SOLVED(partially)

Guys,
For those that you bought the LG-KS20,propably you have noticed that there is a bug concerning voice announcements of Destinator or TOMTOM.
The voice announcements are cut off most of time.
But if you run in the background a windows media file (f.e an mp3 with no sound) you will see that the voice announcements are fully heard.
I was wondering if a kind developers can help us a bit and explain us why this is happening.
Best Regards
At least I made a small script to start the playback, then start TomTom and after closing TomTom stop the playback.
Maybe someone finds it useful.
Regards
Helmut
Thanks for you soft
i supposed it doesn't resolve the microphone probleme?
Is it possible to resolve the micro problem by the same kind of utilities?
Mouse007
I am the same one who has post post in the french <forummobile> which i was asking the sollution with the microphone.
The thing is that i test my phone yesterday through my office for 1 hour kai 15 minutes in GSM and 1 hour an 35 minutes with 3G.My Microphone did not turned off.
What can i say

I'm sorry this has nothing to do with your microphone bug, but since I remember having similar problems with my old SDA smartphone, which were caused by bad hardware design, I would suggest to send your phone to the service center. Maybe some KS20 phones are having similar defects, too. I'm afraid there will be no software solution for this bug.
Regards
Helmut
Thanks a lot , but the problem affects all the ks20 when we're calling outside 3G reception
I'm sure the problem could be solved by the same kind of software ...
I had also this problem occasionally and my favorite PDA reseller / SFR (Vodafone France) representative explained that the same problem occured with Nokia 3G+ phone using SFR networks.
Actually the problem would not lie with LG nor the ROM but with the SFR 3G+ network when the phone is switching between 3G+ and GPRS. The solution - as recommended by Nokia France in an official note further to this problem - is actually simply to block the phone to GPRS (or 3G+ if always available) network (instead of letting it switch automatically) until SFR fixed their network problem. Of course, if blocked to GPRS, you will need to change this everytime you want to use 3G+.

Maybe it cannot set the Audio buffer size properly... this bug involves not only Tomtom or Destinator but many other GPS navigation software too!!! This phone is FULL of BUGS!!!!! I've also try Miopap (iGo) software but it can't run in fullscreen mode because of top menu bar that cannot be hidden; then...this phone can't run any software using directDraw, so there's no 3D acceleration, no PointUI interface, no games, no iGo8...; I cannot use Skype and this due to the Qualcomm processor architecture...
hope a new rom is coming...now this phone (as is) sucks...
@gregnapola: Look into other posts - there IS a already a new row out for the KS20.

Pax

Thank you paxman, I've already seen it, but they're only SFR or German...I'm waiting for an English one at least(10e or better 10f)...so the only thing I can do now is playing (crying ) with my 10c italian ROM...
Here is the dutch version of the *Fix* for the LG KS20.
I also changed the dummy.asx a little. Instead of calling dummy.mp3 times 40. I've now made that script to call dummy.mp3 one time and then it will call dummy.asx again.
This means the loop is continuous instead of having it end after 40 times (20 hrs).
Hope it's useful.
I want to thank lindih for the original fix.
This is a cool looking phone.
Who is the maker of this phone? Quanta, the maker of O2 Atom?

I don't know exactly where all the hardware pieces are from, but the phone is sold by LG and caries the LG logo. So I suspect it could be made by LG.

HTC_TyTN II

Hi all,
I bought this smartphone and want to use VOiP with sip server in WiFi. I installed the cab WM6VOIP and after reboot today screen shows me Internet call: blocked service.
So, I think my mobile operator made some kind of block. What you guys recommend to use it for unblock this ?
Thanks very much,
Mauricio
just post in Kaiser FOrum... there you'll get help!
Actually you probably won't. I must have posted 5-10 questions since registering and not one has been responded to.
Good luck though!
i had a tytn in the past...
i can remeber that there are some sip settings to set befor it works...
the voip cab is only to enable the features...
just search for voip in tytn forum.. maybe you find there something!!
