MP3 playback. anything that fits my needs? - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

hello guys.
i've tried a few music playback stuff, but there's always something i miss.
so, i thought i'll just list all my needs and see if some1 knows better than me
first, i'll list the few i tested and their drawbacks
a) windows media player: can playback from standby with a regedit, but button assignement and playlist management sucks big time
b) tcpmp: u notice it was more throught towards videos as soon as u see that the playlist management is not too good either AND it can not playback from standby afaik.
c) pocketmusic: so far the best option i had, but in order to have all options u need to pay AND it really drained my battery a lot (maybe because it didn't playback from a real standby but from some sort of own pseudo-standby, i don't know)
i would stick to pocketmusic if it wasn't for the battery problems i had and the $$$
this being said, here are my needs:
1) able to playback from standby mode. standby mode activated by pressing the on/off button or from slide2unlock (which in the end is the same result)
2) button assignement like pocketmusic, with all my P3300 buttons. would be super if even the darn headset button could be used for something
3) a decent playlist management, like pocketmusic has.
4) freeware if possible. this is not a 100% requirement but i'd prefer it
well, thx for your time, hope some1 can give me some advice

wow sounds like a good program i wouldnt mind finding one like that!

i currently use the core media player...
anyone know how to run it also in standby mode like windows media player? (reg setting?)
thanks

in the key settings, you can define a key to shut off the screen...

could you please tell me where i can find these settings?

In my opinion the best mp3 player is mortplayer, as I think it most of the things you are looking for, but most importantly it is stable and there are tons of user settings if you need them. I have just installed the latest version myself and there are options to assign to the hard-buttons, though I have never bothered to use this feature.
I forgot to mention it's freeware, obviously with a hope to a small donation to the developer.

thats what pocketmedia player does... and as it's not a "true standby mode" like windows media, it consumes much more battery.
at least that's what i assume, as i compared the battery use a bit.

i'd like this too, for tcpmp. and "turn screen off" is not the same than standby, it still consumes more cpu&battery then

Try Core Player (coreplayer.com) or google for "TCMP", it's open-source predecessor. Plays my Pingu avis fine!
is it not possible to use a codec? i have been wondering this for a while, but never found one!

Dunno, but of all the players available, coreplayer is the only one that streams flawlessly to my bluetoooth devices using A2DP - it is certainly the smoothest and best player out there.
PocketMVP plays all AVIs and also DivX
still, i think there should be a codec! i hate having to add extra software. more programs = slower phone!!
nope
no codec,
just install tcpmp
good luck
How can you NOT want extra software?
Without using extra, non-standard programs you aren't using your device to its full potential.....
i don't understand why you say your device will slow down either; as long as its not in the startup directory the startup will be the same. And after you finish using the program just close it (not minimize) and the ram will be normal too.
A Windows mobile device is like a race car - its only good if you actually use it to reach high speeds (i.e. lots of progs and mod it up). If you are only going to go slowly in the car (not use the available features that make it what it is) theres no point in having it.
I hope that makes sense lol.
makes sense 2 me

Best Media Player (Must support AVRCP)

Okay, I've been using WMP as my media player instead of TCPMP lately, because TCPMP does not support AVRCP. I'm running a set of Motorola Stereo Bluetooth headsets, and I need to be able to pause, skip, all of that, with the headset.
I've been doing some searching, but haven't found a consensus on what the best program is for media these days, that supports AVRCP. I was trying "Core Player", but the trial has run out and I never got to really give it a go (installed it right after the rom flash, but never used it until there was like 1 day left on the trial).
Any recommendations? Preferably FREE.
I guess I should have noted why I want to move on.
1. WMP seems slow as hell.
2. WMP does NOT remember the position of my media. I have to go re add it all, and if I've got an 8 hour Mix MP3, it'll take an hour to get where I was previously.
3. I have to close WMP from celetask or task manager.

8 hour mix mp3!?!?!?! Why not just chop it up yourself with an audio editing program?
I also have the motorola s9 rockr for working out; I also use WMP. I've found that overclocking the device to about 228mhz speeds it up a little.
The CorePlayer supports AVCRP and it's pretty nice....
^^^
Is it free though? I thought that was a paid for program?
How well does the AVRCP work? Does it work right out of the "box" or does it need extensive hacking?

Even doing that, I've still got hundreds and hundreds of 2 to 4 hour mix MP3's, and I want something that will remember it's place when I close the program, like TCPMP. Armin Van Buren A State of Trance FTW!
LOL
I take all my notes on my Dash at school, so I always close WMP because its' a bit of a memory hog.
Coreplayer is based on TCPMP. Do a google search and you'll find a copy...
I'm trying to. No luck yet.
Anyone else got a suggestion?

Is windows media player supposed to be this slow?

The title is basically self explanatory... windows media player is realllllly slow. It's usually the only task running. I have the 6.1 rom. I try to play music off the home screen and it just takes forever to load! And bogs down the whole phone. Anyone else having this problem? I'd just use the media manager but I like having the music on the home screen...
well, you have to take into account the hardware you're using...these phones, yeah...not so beasty

Also take into account that it's "Windows" Media Player empathis on the Windows, lack of codec & streaming support old unrefined and just plain right lazy, i know what you mean about having the panel for quick eaze of access, but there are far better Media Players, Pocket Player choice for audio & CorePlayer "TCPMP is the free version" for Video, you can set up SmartToolKit with gadgets to allow quick access to your most wanted programs, some screen shots sorry they are old on stock WM6.
Hope this helps.

I use Pocket Player myself and of course TCPMP. But if your "slowing down" try cleaning out your Notification Que (use SKTools) I found over 1000 duplicate itmes in there and after I deleted them.. my Dash was speedy again
I also clean out the reg (bad values, old values etc) with SKTools fairly regulary now... it makes a huge difference.
Also open media player and go into options, network and change internet connection speed to wifi. Also uncheck detect connection speed, that will help speed it up if you do plan to use it instead of another media player.
stats555 please forgive me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure he's commenting about playing .mp3 as WMP is pretty useless to stream anything, so to change network settings isn't going to help regarding performance as i don't think WMP checks network unless streaming. Think his best bet is to get TCPMP for now and give it a try then get his hands on Pocket Player like the rest of us
I think Bupahs got it spot on cleaning up the notification que.

audio balance

i would like to know if there is a programme to adjust the audio balance on the touch hd because i have hearing problems ( -50%) on the left side . thanks
yes, thats true:-O I looked now to pocket player, core player and Nitrogen, and no program is able to do that... that's really strange... perhaps ask that in the Nitrogen forum, he develops this program and it's extremely good!! so, perhaps he could implement this useful thing... don't loose hope!! many greets, cad^^

Actually pocket player has audio balance and it's working, but it's well hidden. Go to options, DSP. Enable stereo balance, and set stereo separation to 100% and stereo panning to whatever you need.
Unfortunatelly there's a bug and the setting won't get saved so after player's restart you have to do it all over again.
I use alot the radio,mp3player and the videoplayer, none of them has a possibility to change left or right volume.
it would be so easy for me(and i think many others with hearing problems) to have a slider for the sound balance in the same screen where you change the volume

looking for mp3 player

Hey guys,
Im looking for a good mp3 player, I have Nitrogen but I don't like how it doesnt organise my songs by artist or album or by title. I have all my different albums in different folders and if I wanna hear one song from one album and then another from a different album I have to go back and forth between folders... unless Im missing something with the Nitrogen player.
Also was just wondering if there are similar mp3 players that have something similar to iphones coverflo feature, just think that is a cool feature.
Any suggestions would be awesome.
Thanks
u should google for WinamPAQ
hmm looked at the winamp.but it didnt look finger friendly, is there anything else?
i spent a while looking for a good finger friendly mp3 player for my x1, the clear winner for me was "pocket player" by conduits.
thanks widebhoy, i did some more research and came across that one too, im gonna try it out.
thanks again
Yeah, Pocket Player is definitely the best music player for WM. I love it!
htc audio manager.
* finger friendly
* automatically organizes audio library (by album/artist/whatever)
* fast UI, low battery consumption
Hello
Try MortPlayer, supports MP2, MP3, Ogg Vorbis and WAV, ID3- (V1.0-V2.3) and Ogg-Tag-Information, WinAmp- and MediaPlayer-Playlists (M3U, PLS, ASX, read only), A2DP / AVRCP, Configurable Fonts for Playlists... and much much more.
And for Fingerfriendly using you can download one of the many Skins or create your own Skin.
Pocket Player is good but I think MortPlayer offers more capabilities and is more powerful.
Bye

In the Conduits forums there is a thread concerning this problem. An admin claims beeing able to provide an early beta of version 4.2 which should fix the issue. He (or she) says if someone is interested one should contact him (or her) by email. The email adress is mentioned in the thread. Maybe it is worth a try?
does anybody have a free version of this pocketplayer?
in their web it only last for 30 days, and then we have to pay

That is because it's not freeware. But it is definitely worth the monney.
i think naitrogen is best
using mortplayer since i`ve got my x1. i tried all the others, but mortplayer allways finds the way back to my device... for those like me who have thousands of tracks on the card, mortplayer will give you the effectivist playlist
If you're still interested I'd recommend either S2P or iMulator. S2P has more function and design, but iMulator is faster.
You also have Nitrogen v 1.1, although it's a bit outdated.
nitrogen
www.nitrogen.wmskins.com
If you'd ask me I'd vote for mort player =)
i think S2P is best - it integrates well with S2U2, and new pay version is AWESOME, but 0.83 is still quite good and if u want to make it fingerfriendlier- all u have to do is get a different skin ( some got bigger buttons ), only downside its not as smooth as WMplayer but got nicer autoplaylist capabilities - its only one i found that lets me play all my music from Storage Card WITHOUT small game files , ringtones etc, because u can NOMINATE your MUSIC folder- that feature alone worth its weight in gold IMO
i basically have 5 MP3 players on my SEX1 - WMP, Nitrogen, S2P, plus 2 panels - OnTheRoad and MediaXP , and think that for pure feature plus stability value- nothing beats S2U2 + S2P in that combo u get - FullScreen CallerID, LockScreen, NotificationReminders, Messages Previews, AND Very Good INTEGRATED FullScreen Album Pic + Nominated Music Folder MP3/M4A/WAV/+music player plus whole lot of other things i'm prrobably forgetting , so if u r NOT using manilla ( which have most of these inbuild) i personally find thta manilla doesnt run too well on stock xperia, i think S2U2 + S2P is a must , as a matter of fact : its on my reinstall list right after SPB Software every time i hardreset , anyway- these things are different for everyone , because it all depends on what kind of rom and soft u running and what are your requirements, e.g- both mortplaer and pocketmusic bundle kept crashing on my X1, but S2P and Nitrogen - work well
hope this helps, mate
