Ok since I'm using wm6 I got a small problem - everytime I want to use some applications like pocket artist this small icon that openes the on screen keyboard blocks most of my tools - the soft keys won't display but that small icon in the middle - is there something like a list where I can put the filepath in and it won't display the icon in that app?
I'm using Shaps wm6 4.0 Rom.

I've noticed that modern HTC devices have large icons in today icon tray (thats tray in the bottom of today screen that displays various app icons in WM5 devices - wifi, bt status, etc).
I am wondering is there any tweak to adjust tray icon size in the registry?
Or HTC uses the custom-made shell application for it?
maybe you should show a picture
most of what is displayed on the today item of
devices is pretty much 3th party today items
Yes, the exact applications that make the icons is 3rd party.
Hovewer the whole "icon tray" is standard WM5 thing.
For instance, you can run XCPUScalar or PocketPlus - and they will put own icons there.
Hi everyone, I just got a XDA Orbit to replace a XDA Atom Exec+bluetooth gps.
So far so good, hard to believe this device is almost as fast as a 512Mhz one..
I've installed everything I had on the Atom but since the Orbit has a little bar at the bottom with a battery indicator and an icon to lauch the comm manager my today screen doesn't fit and I get an annoying scroll bar on the right hand side.
Is there any way to remove the bottom bar? I don't really need it.
Thanks.
On my Orbit, the menu item shows icons for :-
Battery / Screen Rotate / Comm Manager / Brightness / GPS update / Mouse
Is this the same on yours? If so;
Start
Settings
Today
Items tab
Look for "HTCHomeplug" (on my device anyway)
Untick
Jeff
Thanks Jeff, but I don't have anything like that on the items list under today settings. The only selected are Spb Mobile Shell, Pocket Plus and Spb Diary. The same I used to have in the atom.
Very annoying bar..
Hi.. You can use this free app :
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-htcustom-v1-1.html
HTCustom is a little application to tweak and customize WM5/6 devices to their owners content. Whats Good? - Thin Scroll Bars - Short Scroll Arrows - Live Searches Via Google - Remove battery/comm manager from tray - Clock Display (clock, date, nothing, both, battery) - Enable Time Zones .
I havn't tried it so not sure it's exactly what you need
Cheers
Thanks, but unfortunately didn't work, got an error message.
I finally got rid of it by hard-restarting it and soft restarting when I got the message saying the o2 software was about to install.
I hope I didn't miss anything by doing this. Seems like a clean device now, no custom apps in it.
Hi, Guys
Great job on all the different ROMS.
Is it possible to set the screen orientation for specific applications. ie stay in standard portrait mode, but say I open email or tom tom. I would like the screen to change to landscape automatically and when I exit the program the screen to revert back to portrait mode. If not does any one know of an app that can do this.
cheers
That has to be written into the application.
It used to be an option in Tomtom 5, but it was a feature that was removed for Tomtom 6.
Opera browser will landscape independantly of the OS.
Sadly developers have have starting thinking that as screen rotation is available from Windows, they don't need to add it to their applications.
I'm not aware of any extra application that would monitor other opening applications and switch the display accordingly.
thanks for the quick reply. Guess I will have to manually change before opening.
just find this:
wisbar advance 3
Features
Compatible with WM2003, WM2003SE, WM5 and WM6 touchscreen devices
Uses a smaller memory footprint than WisBar Advance 2

Switch between any application currently running on your device
Provides a cascading start menu (as in the screenshot)
Tap and hold the OK button to cancel a dialog
Add or remove functions to the taskbar
Each button on the taskbar can be assigned a tap and a tap-and-hold action
Place shortcuts in the system tray for easier access from the Today screen
Customize a "User Menu" with applications of your choosing
Change the appearance of the taskbar, menubar, buttons and start menu in any program
Supports QVGA and VGA devices
Customize the clock's appearance on the taskbar
Hear sounds for system events, just like on your desktop
Download and install themes created by other people
I assigned the internet explorer button (bottom right) to "rotate screen".
thanks for the post,
Pete - seems to be the best solution without having to install extra apps. cheers
Hi guys,
I'm experiencing a change in functionality from manila 2.0/2.1 to 2.5:
under the following conditions:
- the headset is connected (earphones)
- music is playing through the music tab
- the 'off' button has been clicked (e.g. device is in 'walkman-mode')
this takes place:
- the volume can no longer be changed by using the volume buttons on the left hand side of the blackstone. The volume buttons do, however, gained the 'previous song' and 'next song' functionality.
Questions:
- is it but a mere setting to change the behaviour back to what it was in the previous manila versions?
- in case it is not a mere setting change, has anybody come up with a way of changing back this behaviour? (a way other than using a different manila version, obviously)
Thanks in advance
update
Additional information:
I had the Dusk taskbar icons installed, when I tried to install the 'm6 color taskbar' cab the volume buttons acted like before when the device is in walkman mode.
I suppose I could state that something about the taskbar icons packages (which include next to taskbar icons the 'loader' icon and some volume-change-stuff) influences this behaviour.
In any case I have answered my own question: just uninstall all icon-theme packages to revert back to normal behaviour.
After changing my original ROM to Topix 3.4/WM6.5 the thing I am really missing is the old screenlock which kept showing the regular screen (possibly with an application running) and just saying "Unlock" at the bottom right corner. The new one with slider is cool and it has the clock but I am often using apps that I want to be able watching while the HD is securely locked so that I can put in my pocket for the most of the time. One of examples is hiking with OziExplorer. Checking the map/position now requires unlocking every time I get the phone from the pocket, then locking it back. Annoying. Unfortunately Ozi's native display lock does not block the bottom buttons so is useless for HD.
Is there any "transparent" screenlock app available for WM6.5?
This is really easy:
Open some registry editor on your device and find this key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen\Enable and change value to 0.
And new WM 6.5 slide lockscreen is gone.
