Today Screen in Iphone style - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Hey guys,
I received my HTC 3300 last month and am new to the forum, been scanning around for information and have already learnt some things, still I would greatly appreciate if you could give me some further info.. (apologies if this has already been answered...)
I remember seeing a website with a changed Artemis "Today screen" that looked a lot like the Iphone. Looked very useful to avoid the stylus which is the main pain with this phone IMO... Maybe you know a link to this software ?
Again, Many thanks in advance !

Black 2.0 Cingular - Keyboard

I just flashed Black 2.0 Cingular to my 8525 and it seems my the ?mark on my keyboard produces a dash.
Didnt see anything about it on the board or in the wiki, anyone else have this or know how to fix it...
BTW thanks for Black 2.0
Dave
This cab has been posted all over, there is a known issue with the 8525 keyboard with the newer ROM's, I have included the cab for you.
Keep this cab handy in case you flash in the future and need again.
Hope this helps.
I'm just gonna duck for you.
http://rapidshare.com/files/21995373/8525_Keyboard_Fix_WMXL.CAB
These cabs or the registry fix are posted everywhere on this forum and I am still amaze on how many people failed to look for them.
Edit: Between the time I posted originally to now I did a search for "8525 keyboard" then read the first couple of threads, got interrupted a few times, and came up with this http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=XDA_Live_Extras
Now I understand how the flaming begins....
I agree, kinda funny, seems to be the same requests all the time. I guess I am kinda lucky, I have some extra time throughout my day to read. That and I don't want to damage my investment.

I know you have just joined and you are new to all this, but hey............come on, just look through threads, search and read a bit, you could have got ripped to shreds but tonight I am in a good mood!
EDIT: Can a mod lock this thread to save a poor souls life!
Hey, you folks don't know where a guy can grab some magic fairy dust which will make my 8525's keyboard magically delicious, do you?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Seriously, though. I have, from time to time, been put out by the old-timers here going off on the newbies for asking questions the answers to which can be, relatively, easily found. However, this damn keyboard cab issue keeps popping up on a daily basis and I refuse to believe any one of these guys ever search for the info.
Mind you, I'm not completely guilt-free. I MAY HAVE popped in a question or two in an active forum when everyone was patting each other on the nuts and happy with a new ROM release. But, I did look, damnit. And, by the way, old-timers, none of you have answered my question about how to make the thumbnail pic bigger on the dialer. NONE of ya! Yet, you all jump to answer that damn keyboard cab question!

2 READ THE WHOLE DAMN FIRST POST DONT JUST DOWNLOAD
Thanks guys and sorry for asking for already known issue.
I am new to this board but not to forums so I feel you on the dumb questions.
I have been lurking for about two weeks - guess I missed the keyboard issue.
Thanks again for the help and for Black. Don't let A##hats like me keep you from releasing new ROMs.

Hi, there is not an answer to that one as far as I know, I can't see how a reg edit would work as I think the dialer is made all in one and then loaded into the rom (don't quote me!).
The only thing I can suggest is a magnifying glass!
Seriously though PM swampy he might be able to help.

If you had searched you would have found ...... this quite accessible ... the only ROM that comes with one is .... this ...
But I think you need to do a fair bit more reading and searching before you go ahead and flashing stuff if you think touchflo is a ROM
Hehehe, thanks alot Zocster...Believe it or not, i did actually search and ive been reading alot of posts! Im not 1 of those forum idiots who randomly posts messages without reading anything...
However, i am TOTALLY new to this world! I decided to ditch the trusty old cell phone and move to a pocket pc/pda phone whatever you wanna call it I have decided on a TyTN and am now getting into the world of cooked ROMs and all the stuff you guys know all about
Im learning!!!

I seeI have an imate jasjam, so yeah you have a front camera I presume you would want to make video calls too then, so may be that ROM i mentioned not for you as it doesn't have video calling dial pad cooked in.
To be brutally honest, Ive had a Sony Ericsson K800i for a year and a half now and have NEVER used the video calling feature Our networks are rather unstable and its expensive, so why bother Im just looking for a fast, reliable ROM

Let me see then ... you have ten or so ROMs to try out took me two months to go through about 30 from pays, tnt, binky11s, now crc and pdacorner as my favs. You need to know what works for you, make sure you read the wiki, you don't want to kill your new toy ey ...
Welcome by the way .. saw it was your second post oh by the way, go the wallabies, even though i live in new zealand! hehe .. and this is for the trinations!
Much obliged Zocster!!!
Thanks alot for your help...I know that forum noobs are often ignored or flamed lol!!!
The problem i have is being a complete newcomer to this stuff...I honestly dont know where to start, I was hoping there would be a poll with "your favorite ROM" or something, then at least id have somewhere to start

Sorry mate, honestly, ... trying it yourself is the only way you can judge, read the wiki, and try out different roms, as i said what is good for me may not be good for you. So go try them all out and make up your mind from experience. I have had my phone for two months and I have been through honestly about 20 or so roms before i made up my mind, each chefs have got their own style and yeah you need to determine what style suits you.
Thanks alot, will definitely do so
One more question...In my research on the P4350 which uses the 200mhz OMAP cpu, i read that there is an app to overclock (and declock) the device, does the TyTN have a similar app??

If you want to keep your device for another couple of years, then no, it is not recommended. it is doable, but it would not be doing your device any favour.
Well since the reviews i read all said the TyTN is powerful enough, im actually more interested in declocking the device when i dont need the power, to save battery life

hmm, you need to try the roms available, and once you get applications such as BT GPS, BT Stereo, MP3 etc going, plus the touchflo extension you mentioned, it ain't all that powerful.
These chefs have done their best to make the most out of a device that is 2 years old. so ... yeah it isn't that powerful, but yes you will determine that when you have run a couple of things on the hermes have fun, ...
Starbase has the cab on his 4shared site. I have had it before, but find it useless, the touchflo that schaps has is better for finger scrolling and quick landscape mode switches however.
Good to see more South Africans here. (From South Africa myself). As Zocster said, just try the roms out. Been flashing my TyTN at least once a week. Just remember to Hard-SPL first.

Glad someone remembered.....
lol thanks guys!!!
Been reading the guides and the wikis, will definitely hardSPL first
first of all make hardspl ! it is the first thing you need to flash into your tytn....what you meen about -toch flo- ? many component may be instaled on any rom. personaly I use 3ppc.net russian 6.1 rom, whith htc home today plugin (one part of tochflo) included. for finger scroling I use ftochFlo, cube not use at all - personaly I found it useless....(anyway - there are some custom cube on 'hacking and developing' section of developers, as for me it much better than original.)
about overclock. sumsung procesors (which use tytn) is wery bad in frequency control. looks like time generator somehow connected whith main frequency - when you changing it, a lot of bugs appear....for example - if you overclocked cpu, you will notice that music/video/e.t.c. will run more fast that it needed. no need to worry about cpu power consumtion - it low anyway for samsung cpu. much more buttary will eat 3g, wifi, backlight e.t.c.

Welcome to the board. You gotta be careful of that question. You have like 30 chefs on here and you're probably going to get flamed for not researching. I guess the best way to decide which ROM is the best is to decide what you want to use your device for. Then start reading. Or you could cook your own. Before I started cooking, I used JoshKoss, CRC, Mick Smith's. They are all good. Just read my friend.

WHOA WHOA slow down you over-achiever. Take a deep breath. Now, this should be your first read. It has a BUNCH of info. The site has a WIKI also that answers a ton of stuff. Yes, I have a Yahoo ID. It's in my signature, just send an invite.
lol...yes indeed. Your question is almost begging to be flamed. Though you may also get lucky and get away with it Like the above poster said there isn't anything like a specific 'best' ROM for a phone. Its a personal preference. The wiki is an excellent place for you to get started on getting to understand everything you need to know about you phone. Use the search option for any question you have. Your bound to find relevant results on almost any type of search. Happy reading and welcome to the board.

i am reading, reading..
thanks..
Start with CRC's rom.. good, fast, stable
This cant be flamed, BTW!!!! this can be great apreciatted.
I meet many designers and has magic on their hands (and HD's full of tricks on photoshop's projects!) well if you want to start... you can talk with joshkoss, CRC, abuzalsa and many others... cause at this time they are trying to change some icons in .PNG and .ICO full glossy pics maybe 32 x 32 or less like the Notification Icons in upper bar... so talk to him about your skills maybe you can give us new Icons or something... read about the images on the ROMS... what extension, or what kind, sizes, and wheigts...
Hope you can find your work here.

What a really nice guy - your parents must be proud.
The official HTC website cannot be used to upgrade diamonds from other providers, like mine is an 02 Ignito.
I asked a simple question, after searching around here the list of official roms seems to be way out of date.
Is it too hard for anyone to supply a simple friendly answer round here?
Thanks
I've seen a few links in other posts of this forum to the latest version. I think you can find them with Search - don't remember exactly where they were.
Here is all the new roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471699
I read two site back and find this, u must remember that if you need something and you dont find it in the FIRST page look at the next page. The answer can be there..
just a tip
That being the case, it's not really the *official* version that you want. You want the latest release to update your ignito branded unit. Precise communications make things so much easier, eh?
Simple friendly answers are common, as long as evidence indicates that you searched first. If you don't understand why people are touchy about this, please read any of the notes about posting to forums. They will explain. Briefly, the 1% of people that provide most of the help are exhausted from repeating themselves. They'd like to move on to new things. Hence the search features of forums. Yes, it takes a while to find exactly what you need. We've all been through it. Others are expected to do the same.
This is not a slam towards you, this is a simple, friendly answer. If you find it abrasive, you weren't listening.

Thanks for all your incredibly helpful replies.
In fact what i was looking for was not in the stickies - if you call the thread that was last updated in August what im looking for your very mistaken (but yes that thread was stickied, but it in no way shape or form contains the latest English ROM).
And to DrewVS - your presuming i wanted the 02 branded crap on my phone? No that is not what i asked for therefore that detail wasn't required.
Thanks a lot guys, really helpful freindly community you got here.
You all need to step off your pedestals and realise that not everyone knows what
RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE-ME_1.93.456.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.0 0.25.05_Ship means.
The strings of numbers mean nothing to me, nothings clear around here and when someone asks for a little help, hey its my first post even to pounce and give all this bull****.
It's almost like you losers get off on preaching about the search and your precious out of date stickies.
Well - thanks again for the help and goodbye.

Sorry I have not got an answer for you but your right, its funny how the people who contribute nothing feel they have to make up for it by acting self important.
Personaly I think that simply not replying to your post if it offended them so much would have been more polite but obviosly good manners are not well known here.
I suppose that it gives them some sort of meaning, I would not worry about it though, just log in to download files like I do and let the blow hards do the "big I am" routine and stroke there own ego's.
THe good manners aire FIRSTLY to follow the rules... so hitting the SEARCH button be4 asking whatever question.
And SECONDLY, if he cannot recognize that RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE-ME_1.93.456.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.0 0.25.05_Ship is the ROM he is looking for, how can we all encourage him to perform a ROM upgrade? What if he upgrade and BROCK the Diamond.

Ooooh i can tell the rage is burning here, look at the angry response with all the BIG ANGRY CAPITALS and spelling errors, cool your beans my friend!
FIRSTLY - I did search but alas, could not find what i looked for so asked a simple, polite question.
SECONDLY - Apologies, i dont know how to speak Robot, if you think that RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE-ME_1.93.456.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.0 0.25.05_Ship is clear version numbering - your simply a fool... oh and i think you meant 'I could BRICK my diamond' not too sure what BROCK means...
THIRDLY - I do know how to do firmware upgrade (thanks to a really helpful Sticky!! ...OMG ). Im currently on dutty's latest but dont like it, there are some annoying bugs - so again you assume i dont know that i need HARDSPL? You're wrong again you elitist loser....why not just look at the facts before Assuming things eh?
And..because im in a good mood; i'm gonna add a FOURTHLY - Piss off out of people's threads if you can't contribute anything constructive or helpful, whats the point, it just winds people up.
I realise there are some really hard working people here and a lot of you do deserve the donations, but why do you treat new people, asking general, polite questions like something you've scraped off your boot??? It's disgusting...
Ta Ta
And Thanks Jammy Dodger, i have looked through lots of threads here, and i'm not the only one they've pounced on and likely discouraged from taking part in the community - take care buddy!
The poor guy just isn't really into forums (both reading and posting, in that order ) and ROM upgrading...
What we can only hope for is that he either:
- learns from all of this, starts reading about reading forums, posting in forums and ROM upgrading (including HardSPL/SoftSPL) and succesfully flashes a new ROM, gets the hang of it, starts cooking his own ROMs and contributes to the xda-developer community (maybe even telling some newbies how to use the forum)
or
- he reads all comments, decides he doesn't like us and forgets aboud flashing and even about xda-developers
I definetely prefer the first option!
Come on guys, don't take it too serious!

RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE-ME_1.93.456.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.0 0.25.05_Ship, I hope the following will help:
• RUU_Diamond_HTC: This is an official rom by the manufacture (Hence HTC) for the Diamond aka Ignito amongst other names.
• WWE: Worldwide English.
• ME: Middle East, This is the region part in this case Middle East. In this example, the rom supports WWE and Middle Eastern setting, things like language support, radio type which relates to the network provider specs. From my humble experience, the ME and AR(the later stands for Arabic) specs are the same as European specs.
• 1.93.456.2: (1.93) rom version, latest in this case. (456) region, in this case Middle East. (2), latest patch,, the higher the better.
• Singned_Diamond: The rom will only mount on a Diamond singed with HTC’s own certificate. In other words, the rom will not work on branded Diamonds, like T mobile MDA or O2 XDA, hence the need for hard spl to flash an HTC rom on branded telephone.
• 52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05: Radio version. Most Important factor in reception, GPS and battery life amongs other things.
Hope the above has helped.

Thanks a lot Omar - thats very useful information.
@ paul:
first, did you noticed the phrase "developers" in the URL? Perhaps you did expect the wrong community...
But nevertheless we could/should help each other, so try this thread if you didn't found it already:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471699
I guess you get what you are looking for with this linked upload:
RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE_2.03.405.2_Radio_Signed_Diamon d_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship
When I joined this forum, just like you (OP) I never really got any help from anyone here. I did all the searching I need but end up still needing to ask few questions here and there but no one would help me. Now I learned my lesson... you just need to read through the hundreds of pages of information here. It took me five days to understand on my own how to flash the radio. But its just me. I guess I'm slowww. But NO I'm not. I'm just a newbie and newbies are always told to "SEARCH". Your on your own buddy.
Still, XDA Forum rocks.

T-Mo US 6.5 ROM and time

Has anyone else observed with this ROM that the clock seems to be delayed or wrong after charging or a long sleep?

I've checked Tmo website and US HTC website too and there is not official new ROM release for US Tmo TP2, where did you get 6.5 ROM for your TP2?
Is it working with US Tmo 3G network?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

I just found a leaked file but it's good to have the official one, thanks a lot.
BTW, what do you think of the 6.5 upgrade? I've read some people complains and some others went back to 6.1

It's okay. It's a bit slower but not that much. It really depends on what you're doing on it.
I'm one of the ones thinking about going back to 6.1 from the 6.5
It doesn't seem to play nice with some programs I use, and it seems slower. I do like the home page looks a bit more than 6.1, but that isn't enough to keep me using the rom if it keeps crapping up.
There are too many issues I am finding, including the clock issue and lag from larger resources used.
Thanks

Yeah, the home screen is nicer and I like that plugin that detects where you are for the current weather. I've only had one run-in with a program and makes it difficult to run and that's iGO8's TTS. Because 6.5 is a memory hog, I can't seem to get TTS working unless I close manila.exe, restart, and run CleanRAM. Luckily I find the TTS distracting enough that I don't really need it all the time. I've had LOTS of errors installing various programs but everything seems to be working. I had to turn off the error notification in order to just be happy with operations.
I've also noticed that the messaging app keeps popping up ever so often. Anyone else notice this?
I am also having the time sync problem with my tp2.
I am using the official tmo 6.5 os and I am getting tired of this issue.
The reason I got rid of my watch was because I thought I had a dependable clock on my phone.

Yup same issues. BUT after doing alot of tweaks and changing alot of registry entries, I finally like how my phone is working. It is true, it's a memory hog but I got use to it. BTW in the beginning after upgrading to the Tmo 6.5 official rom, I wanted to go back to 6.1 but couldn't. I even talked to the Tmo. support and how I hated the upgrade and made my phone work like crap. She said the only way to go back to 6.1 is to get another phone from them (swap for a new TP2 with 6.1 still). So this is my story about 6.5 upgrade. So if you have 6.5 and want to go back to 6.1 on a Tmo TP2 better do that now before they run out because the Touch HD2 is coming from them.
Here you can download the original 6.1 TMOUS ROM

So . . . . has anyone else experienced this clock time lag.
I have been on 6.5 for about 2 weeks and my clock is regularly 3 minutes behind.
(I have a separte TP2 running sometimes JoshKoss Perfect Black and sometimes NRG roms - that device is never behind)
Any thoughts on why on the stock TMo 6.5? There is a small thread on the TMo forums, but it really didn't shed much light.
H E L P . .
WTF do these dumbass replies not relate to the thread title
just look at the thread title and compare it to these dumb ass, off topic posts...

thanks for all your comments...??? That's a ****ing laugh...You didn't start the thread you goon, you hijacked it and rendered it rather useless...
if you have nothing beneficial and on topic to add to the original post, don't post anything at all, or start your own thread...
Aunt Flo visiting??
Wow, someone is having a bad day...
...and for the record, the clock issue seems to be in part due to a "coolness" factor...or at least that seems to be what the consensus says.
Also telling someone who may be interested in 6.5 that there are some issues beyond the clock issue, is not hijacking the thread, it is warning them that another thread may be needed to fix something else that has gone wrong.
Finally, several of the 6.5 issues have been addressed in cooked roms, but they themselves are not 100% bug free, and one may be trading a stock rom issue for a cooked rom issue.
When a solution is found, and works 100% I am absolutely certain someone will post about it and will be practically wetting themselves over said fix.

Perhaps you should take your own rather b*tchy advice (as your post also was of no benefit and provided no fix to the OP's querry). You were quite rude in calling a fellow XDA member a MORON. I'll also add that if you have nothing NICE to say, don't say anything at all.
lol...seems i've struck a nerve...lmao...the raw truth often does...
No the truth doesn't hurt, it is your RUDENESS to other members that bothers me.
Whether a thread has or has not veered off topic is not a reason to be a rude asshole to other members...
ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR VERY OWN POST HAD NOTHING BENEFICIAL TO ADD TO THE OP'S QUERY, THEREFOR WAS JUST AS MUCH A HIJACKING AS THE ONES YOU CLAIMED TO BE.
who said anything about the truth hurting, sweetheart?
i see why you couldnt follow the original thread topic...it's because your context clues, are supbar at best...lol...

Striking a nerve implies creating pain. Strike a nerve is a colloquialism for something with negative connotations, while Strike a chord, has positive ones. As you used the term STRIKE A NERVE in the same sentence alluding to the truth...I answered you with the truth does not hurt. Perhaps you were confused with what implications to use, and you really meant to use the positive terminology of Strike a Chord.

Now you not only insult other XDA members, but now attack me for pointing out a very glaringly obvious point to your own post---that you did nothing yourself to answer the OP's posting. Perhaps you have Napoleonic Syndrome and feel it is necessary to attack others to somehow make yourself feel better. We do not need bullies at XDA. Feel free to troll some other website.
If you feel it is truly necessary to continue to attack XDA members and/or flame this thread, go right ahead, as it is now YOU taking it so far off course that I am sure it will soon be closed. I have spoken my mind, and will not engage you further. If you must get the last word in to save your tiny manhhood, then go ahead. If you post again after THIS entry, we shall have our answer about what sort of person you are. That is the RAW TRUTH.
