Any way to suppress pop up notifications on the XDA IIs? Example is SMS I don't mind the notification icon at the top but don't like it displaying the message in a pop up another is voice mail balloon.
Thanks in advance
:?
You can turn off the sms message display in the options, as well as set which stuff you want to be alerted for and how you want to be alerted.
settings --> Personal --> sounds and notifications

Not on a XDAIIs...
I think you need to change the values in the Register. You gave me a great idea tho, coz I agree...those popups can be annoying. I will have a dig through the register and see if I can come up with something that works.

Thank you and please keep me informed of any progress.
any progress?
is it possible to retain the message sent notification but have it go away on its own without having to press the "done" softkey? im running the latest T-mobile wm6 rom.
Actually the old message sent reg hack that killed the notification under WM5 doesn't appear to work at all anymore. I would imagine we need to find that workaround first.
I have to deal with this stupid notification AND the one from my provider telling me how much it cost to send the message and the remaining balance. I wish I could strangle them both.

i was actually able to remove the notification by following a procedure posted somewhere but i still prefer seeing if my message was actually sent.im just annoyed by the fact that the window doesnt go away by itself like the way it does on my hermes and if i forget to press done,my incoming messages cant get through.
The message sent notification should go away on its own, prior to me editing my registry it would just go away by itself.

hmm...this makes me wonder why mine doesnt.i assumed it was because of the new rom.maybe i should do a hard reset but ive gotten my dash to where i want it excepr for that one persistent problem.Dotsig, would it be possible for you to make a screen shot of what you have in your HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INBOX\SETTINGS.
THANKS A HEAP!
Make the following adjustments to get rid of the "SMS Message Sent" popup that appears after sending a text!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
Click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key
Name the New Key as "Settings"
Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value
On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1
Soft reset your device and test it with one SMS, and you will notice that the SMS Sent bubble is being disabled.
Enjoy!
i don't have the screen shot utility loaded but in there i have a string, smsnosntmsg, the value data is 1. Now this is with the regedit to have the screen not pop up, prior to this i didn't have the settings folder.

Please read above. This hack is only valid for WM5 and does not work for WM6. Sheesh.

i already did this and it apparently works for wm6 but what i really want is for the notification to go away on its own and not dissappear completely.for now i have it disabled coz as i have already said, its so annoying that the window doesnt go away on its own and when i forget to press the done softkey i couldnt receive any messages.
Hey guys,
Is it possible to have TF3D mark emails as read automatically when you select the e-mail tab, the same way the SMS messages become marked as read when you press the SMS tab? It really irks me that everytime I receive a new email, i have to open it to get rid of the notification, even if I already know what the email is about from the preview.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
This has been bugging me too. It would also be useful to be able to delete emails from this screen too by having the option under the 'Menu' button, again like the SMS tab.
Here Here
While I cannot offer any advice on this, I can say that it certainly is a pain.
I would love to see a "Mark as Read" button added or even better - a "Delete" button added to the email preview page. Even a key combination or hardware key re-map while in that screen would work, but would be a 2nd class fix as it would mean having to open the keyboard.
Is this issue addressed in any of the ROMs out there?
Anyone know if that useless "Push To Talk" button could be remapped to do this?
Thanks!

This would be perfect, or a "mark all as read" button in the Manilla GUI under email
Hi,
Ideally, I would like to get just an icon notification with e-mail, but a vibrate+sound+icon when I get SMS.
I went to the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications
And under there I find two entries that seem to be relevant:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408} (which describes itself as "Messaging: New e-mail message")
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65B-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408} (which describes itself as "Message: New message")
I didn't find any that explictly called itself "New SMS".
So, if I set the first one's "Options key" to only show an icon and the second to noise/vibrate/etc, it seems that both SMS and e-mail use the first and ignore the second.
Is there any way around this?
Thanks,
Michi
editing the notification registry is a bit different. The number value tells it whether to ring, vibrate, vib+ring, etc.
Whats wrong with going to start-settings-sounds & notifications and editing them there?
I did go there.... same story, I can't seem to differentiate between emails and SMS they seem to use the same setting. So I thought maybe there was a way to get there via the registry.

If you go into the settings>sounds¬ification>notifications, then hit the drop down box for New Email Message and uncheck the box for play sound and uncheck the vibrate box as well and it will only show you the notification when the email comes in. Then you have seperate options for the new SMS as well.
I have handcent (which I prefer to the standard HTC text) but whenever I receive a text I get alerts for both the HTC text AND Handcent. So I have to open them both in order to clear the notification bar. I've been looking for ages to find a way of disabling the HTC text but can't find anything.
Also I have a virtually identical problem with emails. whenever I receive email to my Gmail account, I receive two notifications, one for Googlemail and one for Mail. Again, I have to open them both in order to clear the notification bar.
Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

you don't need to open the message, just scroll down (pull down) the notification bar and on the top right it should say "Clear" and that will get rid of any notifications you have got exept for music when its playing or any other program you've got running that has an icon on the notification bar..
hope this helps!

Switch off notifications in the "Messages" app (within app untick Menu->Settings->Received Notification")
Switch off notifications in one of "Gmail" or "Mail" (similarly can be done via settings in Gmail/Mail.)

Dave
Thanks for that, I have actually done so but I still have a problem when receiving texts. When a text comes in, I'm presented with the text displayed in the stock messaging box, I have to close that and open handcent to reply - which is quite annoying.
Any thoughts?

This is the answer because that's exactly what myself and many others have done. I can tell you that it works.
You must have unchecked the wrong options.

When you say the "stock messaging box", are you referring to the HTC widget? If so, you need to remove this. Also, have you ticked "Enable popup" in Handcent's notification settings?
