Message sent notification - HTC Excalibur

is it possible to retain the message sent notification but have it go away on its own without having to press the "done" softkey? im running the latest T-mobile wm6 rom.

Actually the old message sent reg hack that killed the notification under WM5 doesn't appear to work at all anymore. I would imagine we need to find that workaround first.
I have to deal with this stupid notification AND the one from my provider telling me how much it cost to send the message and the remaining balance. I wish I could strangle them both.

i was actually able to remove the notification by following a procedure posted somewhere but i still prefer seeing if my message was actually sent.im just annoyed by the fact that the window doesnt go away by itself like the way it does on my hermes and if i forget to press done,my incoming messages cant get through.

The message sent notification should go away on its own, prior to me editing my registry it would just go away by itself.

hmm...this makes me wonder why mine doesnt.i assumed it was because of the new rom.maybe i should do a hard reset but ive gotten my dash to where i want it excepr for that one persistent problem.Dotsig, would it be possible for you to make a screen shot of what you have in your HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INBOX\SETTINGS.
THANKS A HEAP!

Make the following adjustments to get rid of the "SMS Message Sent" popup that appears after sending a text!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
Click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key
Name the New Key as "Settings"
Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value
On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1
Soft reset your device and test it with one SMS, and you will notice that the SMS Sent bubble is being disabled.
Enjoy!

i don't have the screen shot utility loaded but in there i have a string, smsnosntmsg, the value data is 1. Now this is with the regedit to have the screen not pop up, prior to this i didn't have the settings folder.

Please read above. This hack is only valid for WM5 and does not work for WM6. Sheesh.

i already did this and it apparently works for wm6 but what i really want is for the notification to go away on its own and not dissappear completely.for now i have it disabled coz as i have already said, its so annoying that the window doesnt go away on its own and when i forget to press the done softkey i couldnt receive any messages.

Message Sent Dialog Box Dissapeared

I've tried searching the board with no look, I'm sure I've seen an option for this on the phone somewhere before, but like hell can I find it now!
Basically I installed an app called phone alarm, didn't like it, so uninstalled, but it kindly disabled all my sms tones and pop ups.
I've re-enabled them in the tones and notifications, but when I sent a text message, I no longer get the useful "message sent" pop up box.
Does anyone have any ideas how to turn it back on?
Thanks, Hollinshead.
its ok, I've found it on wiki
Disable SMS Sent Notification
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSNoSentMsg"= dword:00000001 ->0 if Enable
I have the same probem. I used Resco Registry and went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings
but I can only see SMSNoSentMsg and the value "0". Where can I find that "dword:00000001" ?
Anyway I tapped on "Edit" and changed it to 0. I still dont get Message Sent notification.
Then I configured Phone Alarm (ADV tab) and found out that SMS Send Notification is Off.....I changed it to On and there it is, I now have the SMS Sent notification again!
strange thing is, when I checked again the Registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings, I found out that I can only see the string (Default) ..... no more SMSNoSentMsg ->0
I now have the SMS Sent notification....but what happened to the registry? Will uninstalling Phone Alarm bring back the string SMSNoSentMsg ?
The behaviour you are seeing is correct! The SMSNoSentMsg key stops the Message Sent bubble if it exists with ANY value. In order to get Ack's again this key needs to be DELETED!
@Bebbo, you mean the registry tweak on Wiki is wrong? Its not dependent on the value 1(disable) or 0 (enable) ?
thanks...
Yep thats right.
Had the same problem from the same app.
I just did this and it works now.
Much better.

I had exactly the same problem, and I was able to get the "message sent" bubble back by deleting the key. Changing it to 1 or 0 didn't work on my XDA too.
Many thanks!

Text Messages (1)

Anyone else having this problem? I deleted all my text messages and the header still says Text Messages (1) as if there is 1 unread one... ????!?!
Not sure exactly...When I get a text and read it but don't want to delete it stays on the topbar. I have to go back to text messages page on the panel and scroll on it again. It will usually then remove it from the topbar. If you don't need the text message just delete it and it also is removed from the topbar on homescreen. I don't know if thats what you are having issues with but that's not the end of the world for myself.
I'm using WM6.1. It has the threaded text message strings. After i go into a message/conversation and read the text message it should remove the (1) from the top bar signifying no unread messages. I've read all my messages and even went as far as deleting them all but the (1) still persists!
Did you try to restart the phone like turn it off and back on... Also check your MMS maybe you have some message that was unread in there... Check it out and get back if this does not fix it...
Go to your registry and check the value there, look in : HKCU\System\State\Messages, and look in sms or wherever and check the count, if at 1 then set it to 0.
Also, remember the message is not "Read" if you just view without responding.
if you dont respond, you need to <- out of it....not hitting the home key or cancel or whatever.
that is the only thing that works for me.
I have a similar problem, when I view a text message it is not marked read immediately, and home screen shows the mail icon. To get over this problem, I do the following: after reading a message, I press Menu->Close instead of just pressing the BACK button.

nooooooooooooooooo i can't seem to do anything to get rid of it! i delete all the messages and even after that reset the registry key stated by showaco and after a restart it still shows [email protected] ARGghghhghghg
Could it be an unread message stored in another folder such as Drafts or Trash?
Unfortunately not
I checked each folder and went as far as emptying them all

MMS Sent Notification (NOT SMS)

Ok... First of all, this is NOT ABOUT SMS (Regular Text Messages). I have LONG known about the SMS sent disable key.
Now that we have that out of the way. For whatever reason, when I send, forward, or reply to an MMS (picture/Video message), I still get notifications, even with the SMS Notification Disabled. Am thinking that because it's a whole new program, the registry key for that portion is in a different area. I have not found it YET.
IF ANYONE has found the Registry key and, with success, have changed it... Let me know..
Thanks

Start>Settings>Sounds and Notifications>Notifications Tab>Event Drop-Down Box>"Messaging: MMS Sent" ..
Select this, then, uncheck the various boxes associated with your annoyances..
First Hurdle done, now another one....

Seems pretty straight forward... We will see as time goes on.
There is one other notification that seems to be evading me, however.. I have one of those bluetooth car kits. For whatever reason, the "Volume up/down" on the bluetooth is not compatible with the phone, no biggie..... EXCEPT... Every time it connects, reconnects, re-syncs, etc... I get the same message. It states "The Volume control on the bluetooth device is not supported by this phone, please adjust volume on the headset" (probably not 100% accurate, but it's generally what it says). I understand why it's there, however, I've known about it for quite a while now.... I don't need to be reminded. Is there a way to rid myself of that notification?
Thanks

Notification SMS vs. e-mail

Hi,
Ideally, I would like to get just an icon notification with e-mail, but a vibrate+sound+icon when I get SMS.
I went to the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications
And under there I find two entries that seem to be relevant:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408} (which describes itself as "Messaging: New e-mail message")
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65B-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408} (which describes itself as "Message: New message")
I didn't find any that explictly called itself "New SMS".
So, if I set the first one's "Options key" to only show an icon and the second to noise/vibrate/etc, it seems that both SMS and e-mail use the first and ignore the second.
Is there any way around this?
Thanks,
Michi
editing the notification registry is a bit different. The number value tells it whether to ring, vibrate, vib+ring, etc.
Whats wrong with going to start-settings-sounds & notifications and editing them there?
I did go there.... same story, I can't seem to differentiate between emails and SMS they seem to use the same setting. So I thought maybe there was a way to get there via the registry.

If you go into the settings>sounds&notification>notifications, then hit the drop down box for New Email Message and uncheck the box for play sound and uncheck the vibrate box as well and it will only show you the notification when the email comes in. Then you have seperate options for the new SMS as well.

[Q] Email messages not fully downloading

One big difference tween the bb and the tcp2 is my email accts. On the tcp2, when I receive an email, it usually gives me the message that the rest of the message will download the next time I send and receive. Is there anyway I can get the entire email when I open the message? Thanks.

dude go to email settings then double click on your account name then just change download size setting..
simple na
I have changed the settings before and not had any better results, but will look at again. Seems like it is through windows phones that I have this issue.
open the messaging program in the start menu and go to options in the menu, then you have to change the download size settings for each e-mail account you have, it's usually default at 2kb but you can change this to entire message
OK, I hear what you're saying......
But I don't see a download limit on my options menu! I'm running the new AT&T ROM (not a cooked one). I've been through the home tab settings, the start menu settings, and messaging options. Don't see it. Any thoughts?!?

Did you look in Messaging, Menu>Tools>Options, and selected an account in the list?
With POP/IMAP accounts, that should give you 3 options, one of which is to change the download size.
Finally found it, thanks.
After a few days though, messages become unavailable, the white envelope icon on the left side of the message in the list, has the green pointing down arrow on them.
This is for plain text emails too, can't read them. I have set the options to download the whole email always and all the attachments.
Any ideas?
