OK, here's a poser.
I received my phone last week and flashed it to the HTC ROM per the instructions in this forum, and all went very well.
Yesterday, I plugged my phone into charge at my computer through a USB hub rather than directly into my computer.
Now even while unplugged, my battery indicator light shows the AC/plugged in icon, the LED in the earpiece shows a steady yellow and my battery meter (in settings...) INCREASES until it reaches 100% (at which time the LED turns steady green).
I'm guessing that the hub was too powerful for the charging circuit in the phone, and fried the fuel gauge IC tricking the phone into thinking it is always plugged in. Has anyone done this or even better, fixed this?

My phone only seems to charge once in every session, as soon as I unplug it, it won't charge again until i've done a total reboot. Is this a common problem that can be fixed?
This happens both through usb on the computer and when plugged into the supplied wall charger.
Very strange behaviour and I wonder if anyone else has come across this or if it's an issue that needs to send the 2day old phone back!
The little lightening indicator and light come on with no problem first time round, but if I unplug (no matter where in the charge cycle) plugging it in again does no good. On the second connection, the phone is still recognising that it is connected to the computer, I can get to the sd card and all the connection windows pop up, red led on the side of the phone etc but no lightening indicator in the icon and the gauge batter widget indicates discharging.
I'm also seeing battery draining much, much faster than i expected, from 100% to 18% from 8am to 11am with some light browsing the only use.
Did you already try to update it or reflash to see if that fixes the issue?
I have absolutely no idea how to do that! Tbh, as I've had the phone for only 2 days, if it's not a common and easily fixed prob, I'm just getting the thing exchanged.

Hey guys,
My HTC One M8 stopped charging normally a few weeks ago. I had it plugged in to charge one night, and suddenly I started to smell burning plastic, and the bottom of my phone was very warm. Sure enough, when I unplugged the charger it was all discolored and the metal part was scalding hot. Obviously my first suspicion was my charger, so I stopped using it and tried several others, and that's where my charging troubles started.
Now whenever I have it plugged in (no matter what charger I use), it says it's charging (i.e. the orange LED light is on and the battery icon in the status bar has the charging animation), but it will either not charge at all and actually lose percentage, or it will charge VERY slowly...as in 1% per 10-15 minutes. I'll plug it in before bed and when I wake up, it will have only charged 30-40%.
So obviously the charger isn't the problem, it's either the charging port or the battery itself. I doubt it's the battery though, because once the phone is unplugged and I'm using it during the day, the battery life is fine and there are no issues. I'm almost certain it's the port, so I'm probably going to open my phone up and try to replace it...but I want some opinions first. Does this sound like a charging port issue or a battery issue? I want to make sure before I go trying to replace parts
No clue, you answered the questions yourself already.
Good luck in getting it fixed !
Hi, yesterday i was playing with the phone like usual when suddenly shutted down itself, i thought it was a battery problem and plugged into the charger but only shows red light, i tried even pulling out the battery (i did a mess trying to open it but nothing broken) and let a few hours to rest, nothing, even i tried to charge it through an external charger and put it inside again when the indicator hit 100%, but no use, the strange thing is that the red light keeps static even without the battery when the usb is plugged, any ideas?
I'm having some problems with my wall charger or phone, the battery notification icon doesn't even change when i plug it in. Pluging to the computer works as expected, the icon changes to the charging icon.
I thought the charger was dead so i tried on a friend's zenphone 3, it seems normal on his phone, right on the lock screen it says it is charging (that doesn't happen on my moto z).
I turned off my phone and connected to the wall, the led turned on and it was charging, so it is not completely dead...
Turned the phone on and still no indication it was charging. So i opened the battery status and it says it is charging, it is VERY slow (still at 25% after many minutes) but it says there it is charging.
Unfortunately i couldn't try another charger yet. I haven't modded this phone in any way, still, could it be a software issue? It even got an OTA update yesterday but it didn't solve the problem.
Insert the pin in your device properly or it will charge slowly.
My charger got bad recently while my phone was still connected to it. As a result of that, it developed some problems.
The charging symbol and indicator is always on even when it's not connected to a charger, I have to reboot the phone to turn it off.
The battery percentage increases rapidly while charging and decreases likewise when unplugged and the phone gets hot when it is switched off.
The phone is no longer recognised by my PC.
I have a charger with a led indicator. When the phone is connected to the charger when it is not plugged to a socket, the led indicator of the charger turns on. This doesn't happen before the incident.
Other than these the phone seems to work well.
Any idea on what's wrong. Thanks in advance for your suggestions
