<Left Softkey> function not supported on Button 5 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I've recently updated to vp3G's 3.62 Rom. (Very fast and responsive by the way)
I've uncovered an issue though. I've always used Button 5 (the PTT button on cingular's 8525) as the left softkey and Button 3 (Below the power button) as the right softkey. The button 3 mapping works, but when I press button 5 I get the message "<left softkey> function not supported on Button 5"
I've installed the PTTfix.cab but it still doesn't make a difference. Has anyone seen this yet?
All applications selected to launch with this button work, and all of the <function> "Applications" EXCEPT <Left Softkey>, <Right Softkey> and <Context Menu> Work...

in settings..buttons what is button 5 set to to open as an app?
from sleuth...
@shadowmite: PTTFix might not help this case since lvsw's ROM isn't from Cingular. Cingular removed button 5 from the standard mapping and attached it to PTT in their ROM. My fix traps the custom messages they generate then re-directs them by interpreting the button manager's registry entries.
@yo3gjc:Sounds like you're mapped to an invalid app or shortcut. You should be able to re-map button 5 using the button manager though.
PTT fix
Yapp, you are right, my device has a cingy origin, the PTT fix is not fixing my problem. Any idea is kindly appreciated
can you see button 5 in button manager? (start->settings->personal tab->Buttons). If so, please post a screencap so we can see what you're trying to tell us.
PTT fix
Yapp I can see it in Button Settings, Button 5 (press and hold), and I can select the application for it but is not functional and when I press it shows me that pop-up message
So it pops the error message no matter what app you select? Looks like a hard reset is in your near future....
PTT fix
Yes this is correct, no metter what apps I am selecting from Button selection the "poo-up" message is there, at least to disble the button, this one is the easiest to be pushed ), and sorry my newbee question, how to do a hard reset, my device is 3 days old, I am still learning it.
tks
Using hardware:
while holding down the left & right softkeys, press the reset button. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen
Using software:
in Settings->System Tab, choose "Clear Storage" and follow the instructions. Not all ROMs have this but yours should.
PTT fix
I've done a hard reset and still the PTT button is not working, another message there is no apps assign for the button but from the buttons selection regardless what apps I am selecting I am getting the same message. Tks for support

you have to assign an application to Button 5, not Button 5 (press and hold)
BINGO!!!!! yes, you are right, is working, so Button 5 press and hold stays unassigned and assign to Button 5, Tks , you make my day

AEBPlus Is it possible?

Hey all,
Can someone help with a how to on assigning functions to the home and back buttons on the HD.
I've been able to map the other buttons, Volume up/down, call & hang-up.
Just thought while typing this, is it possible to assign to the power button also?
Thanks all
Wayne
Hi, I 99.9% sure that the home button may not be mapped (yet ??) with AEB Plus.
But the "Back" button is the "OK" button in AEB Plus.
Power I don't know about - I suspect not available to AEB+

Home button -> Open start menu

Hi
Since the release of manila 2.0 and 2.1 the "drop call" button also works as home button since on rhodium and topaz it's binded like that so i was wondering if there's a way to set the Home button to open the start menu, anyone know's how?
Thanks!

change physical button to run a application

Hi,
I use AEBPlus in my TP2 to change four physical button to run a application but can't get any success. Nothing is happened.
Is it possible to change home key to run a application in registry?
Thanks.
I'm having the same issue. I can "set" the back button in AEBplus, but no matter what I set it to, it will not work. For the Home button, all it does it go to the home screen (exiting AEBPlus) instead of allowing me to map it.
Any ideas?
Would love to see the ability to map single press/long press/ double press (single short-second long) to do different things.
Tried AEB Plus, it works, though not very well. The <-- (back) button does not work after adding in AEB Plus. But I can map the windows, and end keys. I kept 1 press untouched, and remapped 2-press, 3-press and long-press.
The trick to remapping the windows button is: press once 1st so it'll open the programs screen, then double/triple/long press after that. The timing to press is important...

remapping long press home button

Hello All,
I've conceded the fact that the phantom presses from capacitive buttons occur and cannot be stopped so I rooted my device (and commented the use of the search and menu button to be benign / vestigial). I am realizing home much I need to use the menu button. I attempted to use a program that put up a on screen menu but I just disliked it. I also to use launch key, but it only impact the long press of the search button which is already turned off.
Is there anyway to remap the longpress of home to act as a menu button?
Best,
Norman
